Beautiful and quite campground in a very nice area. The sites are very well-separated and all of them have a fire-ring and a picnic table. As it is close to the lake, there are a lot of mosquitoes. There are nice hikes around the area. From the camping you can hike to a hanging bridge over Byers river and go around the lake. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Beautiful lake and treed campground. Road is in rough shape. Needs gravel. Hiking trails start from campground. Great view of Denali from across the lake (walk or rent a kayak). Boat launch. Boat rentals available. Sockeye (red) salmon spawn in the lake. Lake fishing is an option (not for the salmon though). Loons are common visitors to the lake. Quite. Sites are not all that level. Lots of pull through options available. A true first come, first serve campground - one can not reserve for someone who is not there. $150 fine for doing so will be enforced by a Park Ranger. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice park, very quiet the night we were there at least. Great hiking possibilities.Quite scenic - views of Denali (if its out) from nearby Veterans Memorial which in itself is a nice area. Dump station has barriers making a longer hose desirable. Fresh water fill at dump indicates water should be boiled.
Location: Milepost 147 on the Parks Highway. We camped here in a Motorhome.
