This is the second winter we have spent time at Bonita Vista. It is an older mobile home park with plenty of sites converted for use by RVs. The sites are huge, with lots of room for toads or slides. The managers/staff and residents are all very friendly and welcomed us to weekly events such as pot lucks, entertainment, pool etc. The park is on the far eastern edge of the Phoenix area, but close to Mesa and near Canyon and Saguaro lakes, lots of hiking trails and other things to do. The club house is spacious, with a library, computer room, TV area and nice showers. We enjoyed our stay here enough to come back for a second winter. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is an older park converting many sites to new park models and RV use. Very helpful and nice people in the office, Sites are large enough for most large rigs and not difficult to get into. Plenty of activity geared a little more to the older crowd. Very friendly residents, and helpful. Pet friendly and located close to all the shopping you could desire. Very clean pool and washrooms. Has a sand golf course adjacent. We would stay there again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Not a true RV-friendly park. Just an average geezer trailer park in Apache Junction. RV sites are scattered around, and you must be very careful about your hookups, and proximity to US 60 in the back, or Southern in the front. Some of the sewer caps are sideways, water can be on the patio (wrong side), electric is way back. So take a good look. Wi-Fi only works in the clubhouse. Many facilities in need of repair. Pool and spa look nice, tho concrete is cracked up. Only one usable indoor shower, ones by pool are not hot. "Computer Room" was worthless as was the "Fitness Room" (old machines not plugged in) . Monthly rate $550 is much better deal than $35 daily; not sure how we lasted 30 days here. Won't be back. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Although this is mostly a 55+ mobile home/mfg home park, they do have some RV spots (as the case at most of the parks in this area). The office staff were very nice and gave us a good rate. Our rig was parked on gravel, but we had a large concrete patio on the door side and another concrete pad on the other side for our truck. The park was very quiet - no trains nor highway noise. Most of the residents are here for the winter, but we found them all friendly. The pool is very nice. If you are interested, there are many planned activities. The only downside is the WI-FI doesn't work well. There is no cable TV, but we could pick up the local stations with an antenna. The Superstition Mountains and Apache Trail are nearby and beautiful. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
A beautiful park with a HUGE recreation hall, gorgeous pool and spa, and beautifully landscaped, mature plantings. Primarily a manufactured home resort, but the RV spaces are nice and are mostly separate from the permanent homes. Would be a great place to spend the winter season. There appears to be lots to do on their activities calendar, both onsite and as tours/trips. (We were here a bit late in the season to take advantage, though.) And Apache Junction is very close to lots of recreational, shopping, and leisure activities, too. Oh: and we got to take lots of pictures of a pair of baby owls! There's an owl's nest in a palm tree onsite and the babies were SO CUTE! The managers said the owl returns every year. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Well the park is not much to look at and I thought the rates were a little steep for a parking lot. There's a beautiful state park nearby: Lost Dutchman. Other than that, blah. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Last resort stay, what brings rating down is un-friendliness of guests, if you are not 65+, rude people!, water very hard and bad taste. Sites are narrow with not much parking for personal vehicle, park car under neighbors slide. Nightly cost is OK for what you get, will I stay again? definitely NO. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a no frills park which is what we like. We need good TV, cell phone reception and WiFi and we had all three. We hope to spend next winter here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Plain park with no frills. We were assigned to a site that had the sewer hose connection pulled out of the ground. Guess the guy before us got in a hurry. The office staff was quick to re-assign us to another site. Pet walk was ok. We would probably stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Rate is based on weekly rate. Paved roads and gravel pads and all sites are back-in. This is a snowbird park, though we also used it to store our RV for 3 1/2 months while traveling in Europe from late March through mid July. Charge for parking our RV in a regular site with no hookups for storage during that time was $60 per month. Location is great and compared to the "resorts" just down the road is a super bargain if you don't need all the amenities. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a good park and good location. Its close to shopping and Lost Dutchman State Park and the Superstition Mountains. The monthly rate in December 2006 was $260 plus electricity. very reasonable for the area. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I certainly could not find much to complain about with this RV park. Everything was clean, owner/manager was pleasant, site was big enough, and everything worked. We did not think the permanent park models were run down or sites cluttered. Appearance seemed quite good to us. There appeared to be lots of activities for residents, and although we did not participate, we were made to feel welcome and always invited to attend social occasions in the park. We would stay here again, and the rate quoted is Passport America rate for seven days plus electrical. A good park and well located in Apache Junction. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We stayed here while visiting friends in the area. Park was a bit disappointment at first. Lots of older, run down park models with lots of junk around them. Then we got to know the "permanent" people here in the park. Some of the nicest people we have met on our travels. The pool was covered the entire time we were here. Some activities planned. Laundry had new machines but you have to pay $2.00 fee to get a recharged card that can be reloaded for use (we gave ours to a neighbor) as I don't think we will return. Area seemed a bit run down, maybe the older part of town, we felt safe when walking the dog though. Nice fenced dog park area. Club house was nice too. Manager was friendly. Hard water here, 50 amp service, extra charge for Wi-Fi. Was able to pick up Phoenix channels off the antenna. Site was a bit skinny, gravel, with a cement slab. Good central location to see the sites. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Older established park in the older part of Apache Junction. Stayed three nights while sight-seeing in area. Clean, well maintained. Friendly staff. Concrete patio but site is gravel. Would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We were misled by the nice park website and comments here, because this drab old park was a disappointment. Came for the PA rate (about $16 w/ the fat AZ tourist tax)and to look around Apache Jct. Saw many small, older parks on the side roads, like this one. Mostly ancient trailers and park models, residents who keep to themselves. Tiny pool and spa was covered the whole week. Laundry room had excellent new HE machines, but you had to buy a $2 card. Wi-Fi available for charge; we used Verizon air card. Manager was somewhat gruff, but had helpful moments. Too bad he wouldn't do anything about the scummy restrooms. Sites were tight and ours had hookups on wrong side; water quality terrible. So go someplace else! We camped here in a Motorhome.
We spent 2 weeks here while looking at some property locally. This is a nice older park that is well kept and clean. Many permanent residents but they are cordial. Although we enjoyed our stay next time I think we will look else where. Will look for a park that caters more to trailers and motor homes with fewer park models. This is not a negative just a personal preference. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
After busting our brains trying to find a place to stay in this area a few days (there's hundreds of parks) we chose this from the Passport America website. The normal rate is $24 - $12 with the discount. We were only staying 4 nights and took the chance. The park is older, but very clean and well kept. Like most in this area, there are many seasonals who make this their winter home - which turned out to be a plus. As soon as we backed in we were invited by our neighbors to the 4pm "grazing". The park is well north of major roads so very quiet, yet near grocery stores and Wal-Mart. We'd stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We camped here in a 40', two slide motorhome with tow vehicle, for 35 days. Had a concrete patio with gravel surrounding. Full hookups with 50 amp service. Lots of activities and friendly people. Swimming Pool, Hot Tub, horseshoes, billards and nice recreation/function room. Lots of permanent/seasonal campers. Surrounding mountains pretty and close to all shopping with a nice laid back atmosphere. We would return. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Park was remodeling during the time we stayed, new rec hall and laundry, most were park models and wi-fi was extra, people were friendly and would stay again with passport. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is essentially a long term/permanent mobile home/RV park with a few spots available for overnight or short term visitors. The roads in and out were more roomy than some and the sites were fine but not spacious by any means for our 30 ft class A. Our site was supposed to have 50 amp but did not; electricity is extra $. No shade. The showers were not particularly modern, rather a distance from our site and the shower I used had the hot and cold water positions reversed (this really bugs me) but clean and suitable overall. Nice big laundry. The permanent residents were fairly friendly as they zipped around on their golf carts. Didn't care much for the office staff, not overly friendly and they seemed to consider us a nuisance but only had to deal with them twice. Can't say that I would recommend this park or stay there again but it worked out fine for us while we were in the area for a couple of days. Passport America place. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is an older Snowbird park and is starting to show it's age. It was well kept and properly maintained. Space was level, clean, and larger than a lot of other parks. All of the normal activities. Most of our neighbors were long time visitors and were friendly. Our only complaint was the management. They seemed to have a 'fat cat' attitude and you could take it or leave it. Maneuvering inside the park was easy and so was parking. Road noise from outside was minimal in spite of the parks location on a busy hwy. We would not stay here again due to the manager's attitude when one of our cats 'escaped' for about 30 minutes. She was both rude and quick tempered over the incident. We camped here in a Motorhome.
TTN Rate. This time we set up in #442, an interior site well away from Idaho Rd and much quieter. The park offers a number of activities for residents and guests, planned and hosted by members. The Snake Hole Golf Course has been updated since our last stay but still sand golf at its best. Snowbirds are migrating into the Resort now but there is plenty of room to move around and navigate even a big rig. Interior sites offer ample room to park a 40' coach or a 5th wheel, with concrete patio and additional parking for toad or tow vehicle. Staff is friendly and courteous, stays on top of issues that need fixing or diplomacy. Maximum 2 week stay with TTN and reservations can be hard to come by. Facilities and amenities are well maintained and clean. There is new equipment in the gym and exercise rooms. Wi-Fi isn't very good but most wireless cards will pull in a strong 3G or 4G signal and 50+ HDTV over the air stations. We enjoy our stay here and will return in the near future to connect with migrating friends. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Rate for TTN reciprocal. This is definitely a snow bird resort community. Roughly half of the spaces are park models, the rest are for visiting RVs, both short and long term. Our assigned space, #96, is immediately inside the gate and less than 100 feet from Idaho Road which is afflicted with constant traffic noise, sometimes barely tolerable, beside the constant flow of RV's and vehicles entering and leaving the resort. There is plenty of room to back a big rig into place, had no difficulty with the 34 ft fifth wheel. Park the RV on the crushed rock and park the "toad" or tow on the concrete pad. Lots of room for patio and entertaining. Join the Snakehole Golf Country Club for $10 and play unlimited sand golf on the 9 hole course across the street. Organized activities abound, social stuff, pool, spa, golf tournaments and road trips to sites of interest. We found the staff friendly and helpful and they kept everything clean and neat. Except for the location of site #96 we would have rated this resort higher and we will return here in the future. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is a large, suburban park whose focus is on the snow-bird and long term RVer. The vast majority of the narrow spaces are devoted to park models. The roads are paved, although narrow, making maneuvering a 40 foot coach into the tight spaces very difficult. Each space has a large palm tree at its entrance, again making parking even more difficult. The park is clean and well-kept. The utilities are reasonably located. The only available dumpster was clear across the park from us. We had to use the car to reach it. Walking our small to medium sized dog was forbidden within the park. There is a dog-walk which must be accessed through a locked gate and is outside the park. My wife did enjoy the weekly farmer's market. It appears that there are lots of activities available for those staying at this park. We stayed here using RPI and would probably not choose to stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is an older park but maintained to the highest standards. Clean sites, concrete pads, paved roads. Large pool, heated, and clean. Lots of activities in a huge rec center. No cable TV but I received 24 channels on the antenna. Wi-Fi available in the computer center for $10 a month. The only negative is the entrance. Be AWARE if you enter on Idaho Rd. going north, it is a very sharp right tight turn into the park. You would be best to move to the inside lane and swing into the park. The $20 rate is with Coast to Coast discount. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed here visiting friends who live nearby so location was a plus. This is almost all a snow birders full time park with lots of park models. A few open spaces are rented out to short term visitors. All are back in spaces and can be tight to get into. Staff and people very friendly. Park is clean and well maintained. Rate reflects a club rate with $3 added for their resort fee. Electric was included for over nighters. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We have stayed here for 3 winters. The 4th winter we paid almost $500.00 a month. We found out that other RV'ers paid only $300.00 a month, so we moved on. When we were going to pay our electric bill, it was double from the last month. Seems during the summer they had trouble with the electricity, so to run the office, they used the electricity from the space we used for the last 4 years. I think they were upset because we did not stay 4 months, so they doubled my electricity bill. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice park great pool older park so the spaces are a little tight good Wi-Fi (extra Chg). Friendly helpful staff have stayed here twice this winter and will be back! Price was PA discount! We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed at this park under Thousand Trails and loved it. The ladies in office were a lot of help. There is a special area for those with pets and those without pets. The site has a pad for your rig, you have a patio, and an area for your vehicle. Loved it! We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed here on a special Thousand Trails membership rate. We had reservations for a month. The first week we had to use our generator as power was down or reduced. Temperature was "hot" but air conditioners weren't allowed due to electrical problems. We moved to another park for two weeks. When we came back the electricity had been fixed. This is a park mainly for snowbirds to spend the winter in. It's like a neighborhood and some people would love it. There are lots of park models and the RVs are squeezed in between them. Spaces aren't very large. Even though the park allows pets, we did not feel it was really pet friendly. You're given a key to the "dog run" and actually the gate just opens to the road behind the park. The park was nice and staff friendly but not the type of "campground" we enjoy. Our electricity was metered but felt our charge for the days we were able to use the park power was a little excessive: probably because they forgot to tell us about the setup fee. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Got a great rate through our TTrails membership: $15.00 a night. TTrails does have some slots here, but they were all full. This place is probably very neat in the winter, we were here the end of April when most of the snowbirders had left. We enjoyed it and someday hope to come back during the winter. Beware of the entrance: 40ft RVs just take it easy and swing hard to come in. Luckily, Idaho St is not a very busy street and you should be able to swing very wide coming into the sharp entrance and small gate. We camped here in a Motorhome.
"Nightly rate" based on "monthly". Not the newest place on the block, but totally acceptable. 2nd "snowbird" visit. Neat, clean, well run, LOTS of activities. Staff is very friendly, any complaints are taken care of almost immediately. Wonderful people, too. Made us feel quite at home. Convenient location to Mesa and Phoenix, hope to winter here again, if I'm lucky. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We came to this park from La Hacienda RV Resort in Apache Junction where we stayed two nights. La Hacienda caters to primarily park models and permanent residents. We had planned on a two week stay, but left because we were in a 5th wheel travel trailer and did not feel welcome at all. We found Countryside the day after arriving at La Hacienda and moved here immediately. While visiting to see what Countryside had to offer we found friendly folks and almost all of the amenities offered at the much higher priced La Hacienda RV Resort. Countryside is gated, has friendly helpful management and is clean and well maintained. We have two small poodles and have taken advantage of the nice walking area just outside a gate close to our site. TengoNet offers wifi for a nominal charge and works great. We will definitely come back again to Countryside. It's convenient to anything you need in the area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Nice park close to freeway with no noise, park is 50-50 with RV's and park models, wi-fi costs extra, restrooms were clean, Management was great. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a very nice park. Even during the Snowbird season they honored our Passport and kocked off $5 on the daily $29 rate. We had no telephone hookups but were able to use our Verizon cell phone to get on the internet. While we're 32' long, I was a little shocked at the tight turn into the park off the main road (they even put up a stonewall in the middle to make it more exciting). The roads in the park are narrow and the turns are a bit tight. The sites are about the usual width but with 2 big 5th wheels beside me with their slideouts engaged, it feels a little cramped.
This park is loaded with park models and seems to be more of a full-time winter place and not so much a motor home spot. It's got a great location and the staff is very friendly. The park is also clean and tidy. Since we couldn't get a phone hookup for our stay and since the roads and sites are a bit narrow, I'd probably look at staying at another park in Apache Junction on my next stay. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This was a stopping place for us. Not as dog friendly as I would like. A lot of people stay there year around. The park was OK. Needs more of a dog walk. We camped here in a Motorhome.
While pets are allowed, the dog walk is tiny, the park is not really pet friendly. Be prepared to carry your dog to the dog service area. Sites are tight with very little landscaping; especially to the south half where there are hardly any trees. No security at the gate. Most of the residents are in park models (not great for transient RV's), although most of the residents are friendly. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
A 55+ park that seems to keep everybody happy. We had a very small site right next to the entry gate that was quite busy with traffic. Noise from street traffic was always there. There is NO cable TV and the internet was almost useless 50% of the time. Dial up would have been faster. The staff was friendly and helpful and there was a long list of activities. Laundry facilities were clean, in very good condition and reasonable. We would try someplace else next time because of the traffic and the internet. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Great 55+ park with very helpful and friendly staff. Pets allowed, however there are some hard-cases that have park models and do not like pets. Lots of area to walk pets outside the park just across the street. Right across the street from senior center for meals and they have a wonderful exercise area there. Tread mills at RV park. Just the best hot tub we've ever been in at an RV park! Super clean and temperature perfect. Super clean swimming pool, but a bit cool in winter months. We stayed here three months. Nice activities schedule. You can go pick fruit for your own use on Fridays with group from RV park. There are weekly jam sessions for musicians. Outside bands play for dances once a month. Great place to spend the winter. Huge attraction: Close to Apache Trail and hardly any development east of RV park. All the Wal-mart and shopping is only 10 minutes away. Reservations a must as only 150 sites including park models. Apache Junction police station right across the street so safety is not an issue! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We spent 3 months here for $900. An older park, reasonably maintained. Staff are friendly. About 75% is Park Models and some residents and workcampers don't understand about not walking through other peoples campsites. A fair amount of complaining is heard about all and sundry from pets to park management. Roads are narrow and make it tight for bigger rigs to get into sites. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I stayed here for a week looking for someplace to possibly spend the winter. It was a nice enough park and I liked the town of Apache Junction. But, I didn't like Happy Days enough to stay long-term. Lots were level and gravel. Pool and hot tub were nice. There were no activities since a lot of the snowbirds had already left. Only one shower, but I never had a problem with it being busy. Shower/bathroom was clean. Office staff was nice. It is an all 50 amp campground, but they gave me an adapter to use. WiFi worked fairly well. My biggest complaint was that I could only get 5 or 6 TV stations using the converter box, and they would fade in and out. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Park has friendly hosts and a great Wi-Fi. Mostly older park models with snow birds. Easy back in site with full hook ups. No cable TV, but 30 channels from the antenna. The Wi-Fi was good enough to watch TV from our Slingbox. We camped here in a Motorhome.
A snow bird park. There are many park models and a lot of full time residents. The managers are very hard working and helpful. The rate is based on the monthly rate. There are many daily activities. The park is usually full! We camped here in a Motorhome.
A good park, more trailer park than campground. Full of winter residents lots of park models as well as RV models that were firmly attached to the ground. Only saw a very few "in and outers" or overnighters. Was/am staying for 3 months (rate for month was very reasonable even paying my own electric). Couple of wonderful hosts who are on top of everything and were there to help with set up or any other needs. Sites had a concrete pad (no table) and most had the obligatory palm tree (no shade). Gravel throughout with well paved roads. Sites are wide enough to back in to w/o problem, but once done, parking the truck was very close to the neighbors. This part of the state/city is full of RV parks and most are 55+ places. I guess, I'm glad I qualify, though not fully retired yet. Wi-Fi flickered at times but air card back up got great signal. Too bad there was no CATV, especially for prolonged stays. Made a great home there, though. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
An immaculately clean and friendly park. The park managers are really nice and obviously take great pride in their park. They've thought of just about everything. There's even an iron and ironing board in the laundry room! The sites are all gravel, they are very wide and level, and can accommodate large rigs with lots of slides. We loved our site. We had views of the Superstition Mountains from our windshield. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Don't know if they allow daily rental. We stayed for a month - about 450. The park is meant for longer term rentals. The people that live there are terrific and willing to help you see the area. Weather is great and the area is beautiful as long as you like brown. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a clean, friendly, beautiful RV resort with practically all sites shaded. The people in the park are all very friendly. There are lots of park activities. We liked everything about this park except the Wi-Fi (which was VERY poor) and we were only a few sites away from the tower. The park management limits the bandwidth and the amount of usage for each person - and doesn't tell anyone what that usage limit is, so you could open up the weather and your mail and find you have reached your limit on any given day. We were not able to use Skype to talk with our kids or grand kids and we were often booted out of any other instant messaging software, so staying in touch without a phone is almost impossible. There is a computer room where you can connect your own laptop or use one of their computers, but personally I like to use my own laptop very early in the a.m. while my significant other is still sleeping and I am up. This also allows me to connect with family and friends back east. This park would have rated a 10 if the Wi-Fi was better and the only reason we would not return to this park or recommend it to others is because of the poor Wi-Fi. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Wednesday, April 10 – Lost Dutchman State Park, Apache Junction, AZ: This park is off the Apache Trail in the Tonto National Forest. There are 68 sites in three loops that interlock. Some have water and electricity but no full hookups. Bath houses were clean and convenient. It is a beautiful campground and some sites can hold the big rigs. All sites with electricity were taken so you might want to make reservations. The mountains surround this area, and there are 320 acres of hiking trails, camping, and picnicking areas. The rangers even offer moonlight hikes and guided hikes, but the schedule should be checked. The cost is $25, but if you make a reservation the fee is $30. We had a beautiful site 43 looking out over the mountains. This park is close to Goldfield Ghost Town and Mine Tours, Superstition Mountain Museum and Superstition Mountains. The Apache Trail climbs past the mountains through Fish Creek Canyon and edges of Apache, Saguaro, Canyon and Roosevelt lakes. We camped here in a Motorhome.
WOW. Just WOW!!! What a great site (#27) we had for one of the most spectacular place we have visited so far. Beautiful! Waking up to snow one morning only added to the beauty. No trains, planes or other noises you may hear at the commercial Parks. Although not far from 'town' you'd never know it. The view of the Superstition Mountains was just awesome. One of the better State Parks we have visited. Definitely will be back when in the area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Wonderful park. Well maintained very friendly staff, great sights, wonderful sounds of nature, VERY clean restrooms and showers. Will be staying here again next year in Feb. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Fantastic park although we were lucky to get the last site with hook ups as we didn't have a reservation. Many campers were in the overspill parking dry camping later that day so this park is very popular this time of year. Our satellite navigation bought us in on dirt roads, and we nearly abandoned our efforts. But once we found the campsite it was an easy in and out on tarmac roads via Apache Trail Road from Apache Junction. Our site was next to one of the trails, complete with information along the walk about local bird and animal species and paw prints etc. formed in cement slabs, bird feeding spots and water feature for the wildlife. A coyote walked right past our site in full daylight one afternoon! Loved the coyote sundial along the trail. Located in the foothills of the Superstition Mountains with access to trails up the mountain. Clean restrooms and easy pull through sites. Pet friendly with lots of walks for the pooches to enjoy. Great ghost town gold mine located next to the park. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is just a State Park with most of the RV spots in a pull off the roads. Very few back in spots. Also no sewer although there is a dump station here. Not much privacy, a lot of the sites have the picnic table against the road so you pull into the sites going the wrong direction if you want your RV door to open out to the table. . We originally planned to stay here for 3 weeks and paid for that in August through the reservation on line service. We are only staying 8 days and that is only because Christmas falls during our stay here. A lot of this area around the park is Tourist mines and such. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is one of our all-time favorite parks. There are a number of sites with water and electrical hook-ups. These sites have level pull-throughs. The only reason we did not give this park a rating of 10 is due to no sewer hook-ups. If you wish to stay in a place with electrical and water hook-ups, it would be a good idea to make reservations ahead. There are also a large number of excellent sites with no water and electrical facilities. Some, but not all, would be a difficult fit for our 40 foot rig. Lost Dutchman State Park is in the desert, in a quiet country setting over-looking Phoenix, and in turn overlooked by the Superstition Mountains. There are several interesting hikes in the park, including one up the mountain, and many other interesting hikes within easy driving distance. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Outstanding location at the base of the Superstition Mountains with trails that provide a wonderful sunset view of the Phoenix valley. Also great access to the fun Apache Trail road that heads east (the road turns to a single-lane dirt road a few miles beyond Tortilla Flats, so don't drive your motorhome further than that!) The campground was recently upgraded to offer electric at about 1/2 the sites. Unfortunately, this means that RVs staying in the other 1/2 of the sites (some of which are rather small) are often needing to run their generators. A shame they could not have simply put electric in at all sites so the campground would be more quiet. Other than that quibble, this is a great place to stay when in Phoenix! We camped here in a Motorhome.
Lost Dutchman is fantastic desert camping. The view of the Superstition Mountains is incredible, and at night you have the Phoenix metro area lights. Plenty of activities in the park and nearby. Sites are flat and many are pull through. Park is big rig friendly. The only negative is that like other AZ state and county parks, they do not offer sewer hook ups. We look forward to visiting again soon! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is a great state park, close to Apache Junction (5 miles), with good hiking, and biking only on blacktop in campground and in the day use area. It has 1 new restroom and shower; 1 older restroom and shower. The new showers are nice and much cleaner. This is an excellent place to explore the Arizona desert. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Camped here for 3 nights and enjoyed this park. Washroom is dated, but very clean with good water pressure. Large pull through sites with a majestic view of the Superstition Mountains. Temperatures were high 90's and needed the A/C. Only a handful of campers due to the heat. Park is in excellent condition with good walking trails and clean sites. We will return. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We have loved staying at this beautiful, well-kept state park nestled against the mystical Superstition Mountains. We have really enjoyed hiking the many trails here. Park rangers are very friendly and helpful. Park recently got electric power with water sites: rates are $25. There are still tent and boondocking sites for $15. We'll be back! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We like this park, which may soon be closing due to the fiscal mess in Arizona. Very pretty desert sites, with decent privacy for some. Easy walk (1/2 mile, slightly uphill) to the spooky Superstitions, which rise up right at the south edge of the park. Bathrooms were ok, it's no Catalina, but it works. No hookups, which we found clear going in. It's a few miles up the Apache Trail from the Junction; do your shopping on the way in. If this adventurous little park closes, it'll be a shame. Lots of volunteers would be happy to keep it open, and how tough (or expensive) can it be to do so when there are no hookups? Shame on you, Arizona legislature. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice, quiet campground. It is a very nice state park, no hook-ups but a nice atmosphere. The rangers were very friendly and it was not crowded. We would stay there again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This was a really nice park, but only had dry camping. On the plus side, over half of the campsites were pull-throughs, which provided plenty of room for our fifth wheel. Some of the pull-throughs were long enough to have 2, sometimes 3 rigs on one site. The desert landscape was beautiful. We would stay there again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We had planned to stay as many as two nights at this campground. Since there was some question as to the status of electrical hookups here, we did research until we found positive confirmation on Arizona State websites. Since a reservation wasn’t possible, there was no need for us to actually contact the park. Confident that the campground now had electrical hookups, we were only concerned that we would arrive only to find it had no vacancies so we made contingency plans accordingly. On the appointed day of our trip, about an hour before sunset, and with the temperature still hovering around 114 degrees Fahrenheit, we arrived at the apparently abandoned visitor’s center to be greeted at the front gate by a piece of paper indicating that the campground indeed had _no_ electric hookups. We entered and found not another living soul, save for the campground host (who of course, had a full hookup), and, a couple that had just drifted in to assert free use of the bathrooms. We inspected the campground and the sanitary facilities hoping to find some sort of silver lining. After turning on two control valves in the bathroom in an attempt to get water, I had to conclude that there wasn’t even running water. One of the drifters pointed out that I had overlooked yet a third(!) valve which needed to be turned in order to get the water to flow. Hoping to get some encouragement from the host, we knocked on his trailer door to ask him if he thought it would be all right for us to run our quiet generator during the night so that we could operate our air conditioner. We felt it was a reasonable request since there was no one else in the campground that could possibly hear our equipment! His initial retort was that there _was_ someone else staying at the campground. I asked if he was referring to a closed up and abandoned tent trailer we had seen. I noted that the owners had apparently parked the padlocked tent trailer and then de-camped to a motel! His concluding comment was that the patrolling park officer would kick us out in the middle of the night if we ran a generator. At that point, we decided we would be stupid to remain there, considering the oppressive heat, so we drove to nearby Fountain Hills and camped in my sister’s driveway (at least there was a full hookup!). The biggest letdown concerning this park has to be the attitude of its associated personnel -- not just the host who was happy to get rid of us but also to all the state employees who allow incorrect information to persist on state websites. Obviously they knew something was wrong because they posted the sign at the gate. There was no authority there to take ownership of the bad condition of the existing facilities; absence of necessary policies or facilities; nor the downright incorrect information that they are willing to let people rely on. Subsequent research revealed that there _had_ been a plan to add electrical hookups at the Lost Dutchman and Lake Havasu Campgrounds but that these projects were delayed temporarily (…or perhaps permanently). The campground is certainly well located for its namesake park and for a number of other commercial; natural park; and offroad attractions. Ordinarily, I would give the campground my highest accolades on this point but, in this case, it is not like there aren’t a hundred other commercial and government campgrounds nearby that are actually comfortable. So, I feel justified in giving this campground a big fat “zero” in this category. As for the look and feel of the campground, it’s hard to deny that there isn’t a lot of potential for a first-class site but it is just so rundown that I can’t award it more than an average score. The infrastructure to be found is so rundown and so many necessary facilities for this climate are lacking, that I feel I must score it as below average in that category. I would give the campground an average score for big rig accessibility but I have to point out that most of the suitably large sites that I saw were marked as closed, for no apparent reason. Given that observance, I feel I’m being generous to even let that average score stand. If someone wanted to stay at another government run campground instead of a commercial campground, in the area, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the nearby Usery Mountain Recreation Area (about 15 road miles from Lost Dutchman) or the McDowell Mountain Regional Park (about 43 road miles from Lost Dutchman). Both are operated by the Maricopa County Department of Recreation. The $20 or so rates are a bargain compared to the facilities currently offered at Lost Dutchman. Obviously, if I had awarded the Lost Dutchman Campground its full due based on the attractions in the area, it would have gotten a somewhat higher score but three stars are already too many. Don’t think about staying here unless you are prepared to go somewhere else as a result of your possibly unfavorable inspection. I wouldn’t even give much credence to what you might _read_ about this campground without you personally confirming it onsite. We camped here in a Truck Camper.
What a special RV Resort that we found. All the units are on wheels and no park models allowed. The workampers keep the grounds clean and neat. The residents as well as the staff are extremely friendly and welcome you to their activities. I'm sorry that I never found this resort earlier in my Arizona stay. The patio and pool area is the hub for all major activities. It seems like there is always something going on from breakfasts, dinners, happy hours, karaoke and live music and dancing. Since most activities take place outside, the patio has a cover over it and has many large propane heaters to keep you comfortable when it's cold. If you want activities, check out their webpage and follow the links and you will find everything listed. We were so impressed during our short stay, that we have now reserved space for next season. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Website easy to maneuver through and understand. Pictures stick to depicting the facilities. Rates easy to find. Good social network - Facebook, Twitter and Youtube (lots of great videos). Daily rates competitive; annual is the best in the valley. Surrounding area (Apache Junction) not aesthetically charming. Entrance into the resort easy to find and welcoming. The grounds are a well-manicured parking lot. 258 RV-only sites; tight fit and odd sizes. Just air between sites. Staff will escort you to your site and guide you away from running into anything. Facilities are classy and clean. Clubhouse facility includes office, lobby, activity room, computer room, card room, activities office, library, bathrooms with showers, exercise room with a hair salon and massage area, pool and patio, outside bar, mini golf green, laundry room, billiards and dart room, exercise room, mailroom. The only thing missing? A hall to house large crowds. Friendly, welcoming and young-at-heart crowd. Great sense of community. Volunteers never a problem. Being that it’s a smaller resort, everyone knows everyone – which is mostly good here. 30% Canadian community. Some claim “clicky,” but personally I had no problem joining which ever and as many clicks as I chose to. They are a very inviting group. If you’re shy, they will try to pull you in. If you like to keep to yourself, they will leave you alone. The workers are mostly pleasant and helpful. There are a few “bulldogs” who holler out rules embarrassing residents. Lots of great activities. Several clubs, including golf, card games, motorcycle and ATV club, cooking clubs for men and women, exercise classes, etc. Check out their online, interactive calendar. Very pet friendly. Four areas designated for pets. These are the only areas available within the resort for pets to take care of business, and this is strictly enforced. Sometimes the odor is overwhelming in these areas, but the staff does their best to bleach them down. The water is very hard here – terrible! And if you have allergies, boy will they kick in; if you don’t have allergies, you might get them in this area! Tip: get some local honey and take a teaspoon a day, but it’s got to be local. Superstition Market just down the road carries a nice variety. Free wireless, but HORRIBLE! In and out constantly, slow. If you need internet, just breakdown and get your own connection. T-Mobile and Verizon worked fine here. If you are looking for a lot of amenities such as sports courts, golf course, grass, trees, spacious facilities, this is not the resort for you. If you are someone who is looking for a tight community that makes do with what they have and has fun doing it, this is the place for you. Although Apache Junction has little to offer, the surrounding area has a lot! Less than 30 miles to the mountains and lake; 30 miles to city life in Phoenix. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Absolutely top notch. Stayed here for second year and it is great. Don't pass on this park if you need a place for the winter. Nice concrete pads and well groomed grounds. Camp host help you into your spot and make sure all is well while you are here. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We wintered at this resort for last 2 years. These things I have listed effect everyone staying there. This is not just our experience. Many people have complained about these issues and will not be back there. This park needs management. They have lost more than 50 regular winter visitors that were coming there every year for many years. The dog park is not clean. Many dogs have gotten bacterial infections from the one grassy park because management does not spray bleach or anything on the grass. When it rains it fills with water and everything gets mixed together and is not a healthy place for dogs. Several dogs were sick enough they had to go to the vet. Strong continuing sewer smell in some sites in this resort. Many rules but same rules are not for everyone. Depends on whom you know or who you are, how much the rules apply. Lot of drama going on there. They bought the ghost town next door and expect the people to work on this for free. People pay enough to stay there and should not be expected to work for free. Their security is all volunteers. They constantly ask people to work nights on security. People have had items missing because of a lack of security. Bicycles, lights, chairs and etc. One man had his tail lights stolen from the bed of his pickup one night while they were sleeping. Trash dumpster's are not emptied often enough and strong garbage smell from them into your site. Lots of clicks. And many people are just watching for people to do something wrong so they can go to the office and tattle. Little things like dropping someone off at their trailer and parking for the few seconds while they get out of the vehicle. Guess they are supposed to jump out as you go around the block! No parking in the street for any reason. Have seen several people asked to leave for this very sin. We avoided this by walking on egg shells all winter. We would NOT recommend this resort. Many other resorts in the area and some are much more people, dog and camper friendly. Don't let your dog pee in the street on way to the dog park or you will be asked to leave, Have seen people here have medical emergency and they do not get their winter's rent back. Everyone is required to pay up front for how many months they stay, at check in. Wi-Fi does not work well. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a nice park. It is 55+. I was in town on business. I am 40 something but they let me stay anyway which was nice. The pool clubhouse office area is very, very nice. The sites very plain no landscaping. They are good size, but could be a little more level. We stayed at the end of the snowbird season so there wasn't a lot going on. The staff was pretty nice, but there was an overall feeling that it might be little "clicky". We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a top notch park with gravel sites and concrete patios. When we called, they said there were closed for the summer but did have a few sites open. We were in a back-in that did not give us room to leave the truck hooked up. No problem because we stayed here 3 days. Pool is gorgeous, nice dog park and overall an extremely nice place. No shade trees but this is a newer park. The landscaping around the entrance and office was very nice, but that is the only place landscaped. The only reason I would not give them a 10 is that my preference is for more landscaping. We would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This was our 1st winter at this park and all of our expectations were met or were exceeded. The staff (both paid and workampers) were very professional and kept the park in immaculate condition. There were enough activities to keep us busy. Potlucks, happy hours, special dinners and a variety of music for dancing and entertainment. The park recently purchased another property and will be using it this coming season for all entertainment activities. The activity director was dismissed this year. Not because of not doing the job, but did not have a work permit to work in the US. A new activity director has been hired and a new park manager will be in place for next season. All in all, this park is a great place to winter or to spend a week or so during the winter. They do have spaces for "short termers" at the front of the park. The park itself is close to shopping and dining. This is by far one of the friendliest parks we have stayed in and will be back again next winter for 5 months. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This resort has small sites. No place to park in many of their sites, because of power transformers or utility boxes in the site. So no place to park a vehicle near your RV. Not allowed to park in street near RV. Not dog friendly. Dog enclosures are not clean. Dog area trash is not dumped every day, so smells bad. Trash is picked up once a week for 250 sites. So trash bins smell and are overflowing. Noticed a strong sewer smell in the park. Will not encourage anyone to stay here. Will not be back. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Breaking news; the activity director has been replaced. The current manager has announced her retirement! We stay here 6 months a year for the past four years. We do not know who the replacements to these positions will be, It may be better or worse. We will only know next Winter when we come back. Either way, we will be breaking in new people and all that work that it entails. The residents make this park fun! We camped here in a Motorhome.
We only stayed for 1 month @ $800 so we figured the daily rate of $27. This is a very clean park but after seeing all the turmoil going on in the park & the attitude of the manager in the way she was handling it, we will never go back. A lot of the longer term residents were actually afraid of her retaliation against them if they spoke out. In all our years of traveling in RV parks, we have never seen anything like this. I had read about this in some older reviews of this park but thought that there was a new manager. Looks like the owners don't care about their park. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The park facilities are nice. Clean restrooms and showers etc., but the sites are very "tight". We parked our travel trailer and placed our chairs on the pad. The chairs had to be set so close to the trailer that we were cramped. The septic system for the neighboring site was less than an arm's length from our pad. Not very appetizing. Monthly rates seems high in comparison to comparable parks. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This resort is a 55+ RV park ,andwe loved the fact that there are all RV's, no park models. The whole staff was so friendly and helpful. We stayed for two months. The activities were awesome - so much to do! We enjoyed the lagoon-style pool and the fitness room. The restrooms were spotless with spacious showers. We definitely will tell our RV friends about staying there. We plan to return to this resort to spend six months next winter! We camped here in a Motorhome.
The showers were so clean. Actually the whole park was clean. The folks that stayed their made everyone feel like they were a family member of Meridian. Al tho our stay was short, two weeks, the pool was a very nice place to be, under the patio umbrellas. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I couldn't disagree more with some of the negative comments that have been made about this park. This is one of the cleanest, friendliest parks we have ever stayed in. The manager was as helpful as humanly possible to make our stay enjoyable. She escorted us to our site & gave us several other options if we didn't like the site. The pool & jacuzzi were clean, and there were lots of activities. If you didn't enjoy your stay here then I would have to say you shouldn't be traveling in an RV. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I can't help but wonder why the Office Manager of Meridian RV Resort chose the Hospitality Field for her profession. She is rude and condescending! We were charged $917.60 for a month to stay here; we found other people who arrived at the same time we did were charged $650.00 per month. When I asked her why, her response was "because I can." I asked if we could have a refund because the park was not what we had anticipated when I made the reservations based on information from The Trailer Life Directory. The campsite we had was not the size indicated in Trailer Life. We hardly had room to park our fifth wheel and pickup in the same spot and open the passenger door on the pickup. She stated that we were informed when we checked in that there were no refunds. That was not the case. We found out after reading the rules and regulations once we go to our campsite that when checking out prior to your paid departure date, you agree to relinquish the site back to the Resort and understand that unused rents are not refunded." Prior to that time we were only aware of losing our $150 deposit if we canceled within 60 days of our reservation. Had we been aware of their policy we would have asked for a tour of the facility before checking in and we most definitely would not have stayed here! When I made reservations I was assured that there was Wi-Fi at each campsite. This was vital because of our online banking. After trying to log on several times I was told that "there is too much metal around us" and it is virtually impossible to log on at the campsite. For the month that we were here I was unable to log on once although I tried several times a day at different times. I very strongly do not recommend Meridian RV Resort. Rather than lose our $917.60 and drive away we stayed for most of the month, just avoided any contact with the office. The only positive point of Meridian RV Resort is the pool. It's a shame. In the forty years that my husband and I have been RV'ing we've never encountered a person so rude to the customers that she is hired to serve. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
In all our years of camping, we have never come across such an example of someone who should not be a manager of anything let alone a business requiring people with superior customer relation skills. This manager (she) couldn't have cared less about our concerns. The most concerning being that of the non-existent Wi-Fi. When we called with our reservation we specifically asked about the Wi-Fi, as we needed it for our business. "Oh, yes. It's park-wide." HARDLY. Anyway, needless to say, we would never consider returning or, frankly, recommending this park to anyone. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The nightly rate is based on our one month plus one week stay. This is a nice, clean and well run RV only park. The staff was very nice and helpful. The majorities of the guests were friendly and made you feel welcome. There are quite a few, but not an overabundance of, activities available to participate in. We enjoyed those that we did do. The Wi-Fi access was very sporadic, at best, and when available it was extremely slow. I suspect that the park owner is not an internet user, does not understand the technology or that good Wi-Fi is a requirement for those of us who are used to internet access 24/7 at work and at home. Otherwise, the park would have a viable Wi-Fi system and our rating of the park would be a 10 rather than an 8. We would camp here again, but only if we have our own access to the internet. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed here a second Winter. Not much has changed. The "dog parks," are actually areas for rain runoff. This last Winter we kidded about the dog run titled, "Lake Meridian." Dog excrement soup. The management has quit spraying the park with a disinfectant claiming it was too expensive. The results were several dogs came down with Bordetella or "kennel cough" as well as other gastric problems from the grass in one particular off-leash area. We had 113 dogs this year, so it's highly recommended that if you decide to stay here that your dogs have all their shots. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We paid just under $30 with the weekly rate. This is a private, age 55+ RV resort. The resort is very well maintained - all the roads are paved with each site having a concrete patio and groomed pea-gravel for the rigs, a d complete club house, well stocked library, a computer room with four guest computers, a large laundry room (12 washers and 12 dryers), billiards room, card room, general purpose room, and a beautiful pool and hot tub area that has views of the nearby mountain tops. There is also a complete exercise room with various machines and free weights. The water pressure is great! The downside to this park is that their free Wi-Fi is not reliable. The more people who use it, the slower it gets - very early in the morning it is fast, but quickly becomes unusable, which is frustrating. We will definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Management is rude. Park is small, lots are small, no room for tows on some lots. Parking on some is very difficult with all the obstructions. Club house and other amenities are small. No security gates or cameras. They have wireless internet but it doesn't work most of the time. It rained while we were here, that created a huge muddy mess that we had to wade through to get to the club house. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

The $12 a night price is if you stay for 6 months. Electric hook up is about a $30 fee by the local utility. The wi-fi used to cost $10 per month, but it was so unreliable that it's free now, and just as unreliable. (what do you want for free?} The volunteers keep the showers and grounds in good repair. If it rains hard in the winter months the dog parks fill up with water and are pretty sloppy. All in all, the new management tries to stay on top of complaints and it fair about resolving any. I would have given this park a higher score if the owner spent the money to fix the wireless internet issue once and for all. Since the park is only six years old this can't be too hard to do! The people that stay here really make the park a fun place. There is a lot less resentment of folks in RV's than you will find in a campground that has park models. There are no park models at this campground. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very well run, clean convenient park. Every staff member we met was very helpful. The sites are all back ins. There is NO modem hookup! Big rig friendly with wide streets. This really is an RV park unlike 99% of the other parks in the area that are mobile home parks acting like an RV park. We will definitely stay here when in the Phoenix area. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a nice, clean park to stay in. This is our preferred park to stay in this area as it caters to RVs (most of the parks in Apache Junction have a high number of permanent residents (park models), and seem to resent their mobile brethren). It has a nice pool and hot tub and a good club house. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Please don't book this park for more than a month as you won't get your money back if you have a medical emergency. We booked for three months starting January, 2008 and had a medical emergency which made it necessary for us to return home. We asked for the remaining one months rent which we still had to use and were refused. We were offered a months free rent next year, but we had to book three months again then. We explained to them that we would not be able to return next year due to our medical problem, and they said they could not help us then. Overall the park is okay, except for the internet which they will charge you $12 a month for at your site and it never works. We ended up going to the office to use our computer, but no refund of the $36 we paid for internet even tough it never works. This was a total scam. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We stayed for 3 months and cost $500 per month. Well worth the money. Had many activities and a great hot tub and pool area We camped here in a Motorhome.
Update: The WiFi has been upgraded and is working well. However there is a small monthly charge for it now. Park has new owners and it seems to be well managed and is very clean. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed here for a year. This is a 55+ park. Showed up for the winter and stayed because of work. It's a great RV park, but as is typical in AZ, there is no shade. Also, unlike other parks in the area, this is an RV only park. No park models or mobile homes. Lots of activities and lots of nice people. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Some people will love this park. Age restrictions have many exceptions. Harleys are welcomed. Pool is sometimes dirty. One telephone for public use (Vonage). Too few washing machines. No trees on sites. All spaces have a concrete patio and desert grit for your rig. Only one paid staffer; all others are volunteers. Many volunteers not returning next season. Friday night happy hours are BYOB. The dog park is wonderfully grassy and well-lit at night. We would not return. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
They claim to have WIFI to the majority of the rigs. This is not true. You get on and it drops you. Very frustrating. But, works good in the clubhouse??? When you bring it up they just ignore you. We came because of the WIFI and left unhappy. The WIFI here seems to have a 50 ft coverage. Sites are also uneven. Everyone seems to have to lift the front of their rig way up. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Monthly rate for amenities was best in area, can't verify 'nightly' rate. Newer park, very little landscaping, lots of activities. Nice laundry (too few machines for park size though), billiards-game room, jacuzzi, exercise room and pool. Immaculate showers/restrooms. WI-FI reception at site was 'iffy' at times, Free DSL in computer room though. Sites are wide enough for awning, not much more; especially if your neighbor has slide-out. Residents were friendly, managers should take lessons. * UPDATE 10/07/07 * WIFI no longer free and new owners, new managers (more friendly). We camped here in a Motorhome.
Best KOA I have ever seen. Nice wide spots and roads. Very friendly and helpful staff. Pool and spa were very clean. My only complaint is the little, tiny dog run, which could be easily expanded. Location is great close to freeway, but not so close to hear it. Would definitely stay here again. Wish the rest of the KOAs were like this. We camped here in a Motorhome.
OK park, desert setting all gravel and sand. Not good for dogs paws but livable. Electric good, Water pressure very poor had to turn on the water pump to take a shower. Work campers run the place and most of them were very nice, owner lives on the property but has very little interest in the guest . We camped here in a Motorhome.
We came here for one night as we wanted to visit some of the attractions near Phoenix. The park is beautiful with cactus and small trees, well kept by a very friendly couple, facilities work well. Not too much shade, but they do what is possible around here. No shop available. 35 minutes to Rawhide, a typical family place in the old Western style - great for a Swiss family. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This was my second stay here. I like the park because it is one of the few area campgrounds that are not age restricted and it is convenient to the Phoenix area highway system. It seems the vast majority of Phoenix and Mesa area parks cater to snowbirders and are 55+. The park is nothing special, just your basic gravel parking lot with a sprinkling of shade trees and small plots of desert plants between sites. It backs up against the intersection of two relatively high-traffic roads, so there is some constant low-level background traffic noise. It wasn't loud enough to bother me. The hosts were friendly and helpful in pointing out area attractions. The Wi-Fi worked with no problems. I would have no problem with staying here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Very friendly staff. Gravel and dirt all around but what you would expect for a desert setting. Sites are not level at the front of the park and we had to get moved because front wheels were off the ground and looking at some in the back lots of boards under the rigs. All that said it is one of the few with pull throughs so we will probably come back. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Rate shown is based on a weekly rate. Nice park, but it is a desert setting so the sites and roads are dirt and gravel. This does create some dust that gets into the TV. Our back-in site was very roomy and looking at the other sites, most seemed the same. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They escort you to the site and assist in backing you in and anything else you may need. The only complaint I have was the Wi-Fi. It is free but can be so slow that it is not even worth using. Mainly the slowdown came in the evenings. To get away from the mega parks and yet still be within distance of everything Phoenix has to offer I would highly recommend this park. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Staff was great! We checked in late and wonderful lady at front desk had our reservation ready than a man escorted us to our site and helped me back in. The sites were pretty tight but were level and well taken care of. The park is a little far from the city which may be good for some people. Nighttime noise was pretty minimal. We just stayed here one night being we needed to be closer to Scottsdale. Overall nice park, little pricey but, expected from KOA. We would stay here again if need be. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Rate is a modified weekly rate. Roads are double wide and gravel. Easy in and out for pull-through site. Water, power and sewer service were good. Site reasonable level. Wi-Fi bandwidth not strong and best to wait until after 10 p.m. for good operation, otherwise it is painfully slow at best. Aerial TV channels were okay and view of Superstition Mountain was vista from our location. Did not use pool or spa but seemed in good condition. Will stay again when next in area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is a typical KOA, kind of cozy. We had a level site, facilities worked fine. We were escorted to site. The Wi-Fi is painfully slow, but Virgin Mobile Mifi worked well. It is a quiet park, staff were very friendly and helpful. Be aware owners do not allow electrical adapters (staff don't know why, neither do I). We would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We stayed here three nights. Nice place on the east side of the metro Phoenix area with easy access to and from freeways. Staff was friendly and we were escorted to our site. The perimeter is filled with long-term (seasonal) residents. Wi-Fi was fine at our site, and over-the-air TV reception was good with many channels. Pool and hot-tub available though we did not use them. We did use the laundry, which was fine. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
I stayed here for 5 days. Campground elevation is 1,835 feet. Maneuvering my 40 footer towing a dinghy in the park was no problem. Roads, sites and patio are gravel. Pull through sites hold a 40 foot motorhome towing. My site 96 was a back-in site offered 30/50 amp service & full hookups. Wi-Fi is available at no additional charge. I was able to receive AT&T Wireless 3G Internet and AT&T Cellular service. I received Dish Network 110/119 Satellite TV from dish on roof of motorhome. Campground is pet friendly. Wal-Mart is 7 miles away and Safeway is 4 miles away. Since this is metro Phoenix, shopping is abundant. I am unable to comment on other amenities due to not using them. This is a nice KOA with wide roads and sites. It is well maintained, clean and has good drainage when it rains. Not many people here this time of the year. After the first of the year it will fill up for the next few months. This is my fourth time here and would return. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The park was mostly empty so it was quiet and relaxing. It is NOT right by the expressway like a lot of KOA campgrounds. Despite the fact that the campground is a large gravel (small rock) parking lot, the park is beautifully landscaped with the most attractive desert plant life, which includes a lot more than just cactus. Also, the sites are mostly level, the whole facility is very well maintained and the staff was as friendly as could be. The Wi-Fi was good too. We would stay again. Also, there is a lot to do all around the area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
What a rude, mean manager (who hides in her doublewide, only issuing orders behind a curtain) and staff who run this KOA. Not family friendly! We left a day early due to their poor treatment of our small family with a service dog. I would never recommend this nasty KOA to anyone, especially traveling families. Truly, watch out for this one! We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a very nice KOA park. It is desert but we had trees all around our site. The sites are gravel and ours was level. All utilities work fine. The Wi-Fi was strong and free. There is some road noise since the park is close to some main roads. It is also near all necessary shopping and restaurants. The scenery is great and the area is nice. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We visited this campground recently, I really just needed a place to park the trailer while we were visiting family. The place is nice and clean and the staff is friendly. The only thing I didn't like was you didn't have a choice in what Amperage hookup you wanted. If your RV has a 50 amp plug then you get charged for a 50 amp hookup. Not really fair, I only need 30 amps to run the fridge and 1 air conditioner if it was really hot. If I wanted to run both ac's, then I would have asked for a 50amp hook up but I don't always need it. This is the only campground and only KOA that has ever had this silly policy. Its not really that big of deal but it just kind of rubbed me the wrong way. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This campground has nice views and landscaping. The staff is unfriendly and unprofessional, not helpful at all. If you have kids, this is not the campground for you. The pool is cold and the park is only a merry go round and swings. When we stayed, the campground was nearly empty, however the staff chose to park all campers/motorhomes right next to each other. It was difficult to understand why, with the park so empty, they couldn't give people a space in-between each other. We liked the setting and cleanliness. It is too bad the staff was so unfriendly. We hope any one else that stays has better luck then us. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This was a great campground with super friendly staff and a very enjoyable stay. Our site was mostly level. Absolutely gorgeous scenery nearby. Only difficulty we had was when we were 95% set up, we were asked to move to a different site that had 50 amps even though we were happy to stay in the 30 amp site we had been escorted to. (Something about the fact that our 5th wheel is 50 amp capable, it was confusing.) Wish we would have been put in the correct site to begin with, but mistakes can happen to anyone. It turned out that the new site was actually a nicer site than the original one, so all's well that ends well, right? Only one other comment: this is certainly a dog friendly park, no unusual or unreasonable rules. However, the park map shows a fenced "dog relief area" which is not even as big as the living room in our 5th wheel. Not worth even going in, it's like a cage. We simply walked our little dog around in the gravel and picked up after her there. All that said, we would absolutely stay here again! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Spent two nights in a travel trailer. Very easy to find. Beautiful views from the campground. Sites were level and there was reasonable space between the sites. The office staff was not very professional. We had to wait for the staff to finish personal phone calls before they acknowledged our presence. The Sundance Lounge (recommended by the KOA staff) next door to the KOA served good food in large portions. Needed propane. The maintenance staff was very friendly and professional. Like the other reviewer said, they should get rid of any reference to a dog run. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
We stopped for an overnight stay and ended up staying for 3 weeks. Very clean and mostly quiet. Not a lot of activities in the park, but the surrounding area was unlimited in things to do and see. Management was friendly and helpful, and other campers were very cordial and friendly. Would definitely return. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This was a very nice KOA (they all aren't). We stayed here for 10 days as we needed to wait for an awning repair. We were very comfortable, the staff was friendly, the small wildlife abundant, and it was very relaxing. The park is meticulously clean. A nice picnic table on the site (not all worn and broken). The sites were very wide and comfortable. There were not many campers here as it was considered "off season." We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a beautiful desert park with lots of room at the sites. The staff were great and helpful, showing us to our site. The Wi-Fi had some trouble while we were there, but staff got right on it. We would certainly stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Office staff of this park really need some lessons in customer service. Also, many attitudes prevail. We have a 50A RV and wanted to camp in the nicer 30A sites. They denied us on the basis "a 50 amp RV needs 50 amp power." This is completely ridiculous. When we called, they said, "We are almost full for the period you want to stay. You had better book for a week before coming or you won't get a site." On arrival, there were many empty sites. An old trick in the RV park business: make them fearful they won't get a site unless they "book right away." This park is located at a noisy intersection and has a restaurant on site which sends out some pretty rude cooking odors. Wi-Fi here was completely awful. We would NOT return until they improve in a big way. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We stayed at the Apache Junction KOA after taking in an Angels Spring Training baseball game. Although this is one of the few (and I mean few) parks in Arizona that is not age restricted, it kind of felt like it. We were charged $3/per child: for a total of $12.00! The pool closes at 7pm, and there is no game room. I asked about using the "rec room" and was required to post a $10.00 deposit for broken pool sticks and ping-pong paddles. By the way, the rec room closed for us at 8pm (we got to use it about 20 minutes) although the sign indicates 8:30pm. The Wi-Fi worked really well and the speed was about 1.5 mbs: about the same as most DSL connections at home. No cable TV was a huge bummer. For one night, I didn't really want to set up the Dish and only had a few acceptable channels via antenna. Was it worth it? After going to near-by Goldfield Ghost Town the following day, yes. Otherwise paying that much and dealing with the traffic for a no-frills park would not really seem worth it for us. The staff was professional and park was clean. All dirt and I did not see a blade of grass anywhere. Spent the following day getting all the rocks and pebbles out of the rig. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
The rate is for an electric and water site, full hookups are more. This is a typical KOA, but the staff was very friendly. It is far west of Phoenix, but welcomes children among many in the Phoenix area that are adult only parks. We stayed just one night. The pool was closed (it had rained) and the hot tub, while open, was crowded. We camped here in a Motorhome.
A very nice RV park, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The only drawback was no cable, but with our tv antenna we were able to get good reception on ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX stations. The wifi was exceptionally fast and dependable. Our site gave us lots of room for our fifth-wheel and truck. We stayed there for a week and would definitely return. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Rude clerk made me wait while she held a 10 minute personal conversion with friend. She bragged how she charged a group of 20 people the tent-no hookups rate. She got to me and charged full rate for two children and one adult. I had a KOA member card and was charged top rate. Hot tub was broken and they had to send out of town for the part. This is Phoenix Arizona. My children wanted to use the bathroom and worker told them "go away." We drove to a grocery to go to the bathroom. Ugly landscaping looked fine compared to operators of this place. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
I don't know where to start, other than to say that the KOA parks seem to be going the way of the motel 6 chain. Too old, worn out, not enough maintenance in general. We came in from Colorado with reservations that no one could find. We had asked for a pull through, close to the pool, etc. as I am handicapped. They said it wasn't a problem but still put us in a back in spot, at the far side of the park, next to a group of 4-wheelers and bikers there for the motorcycle rally (no sleep) while nine pull throughs up front went un-used all week. Apparently they were keeping them free in case someone in a Prevost came in. We are throwing our KOA card out and going to the independents. KOA is getting far too expensive, rude to their customers, and are just plain falling apart. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Standard KOA, all dirt sites, the owners were veery good to deal with. It was a fine place to stay for the holidays. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is a clean park. There's traffic noise during the day. At night it's much quieter, but there's still some noise. Sites are wide, near-level dirt; some have a concrete pad. There are a few high palm trees but no shade. The 30 amp outlet at my site wouldn't fit my cable, so I needed to use a 50 amp to 30 amp adapter. Roads are wide asphalt in good condition, but many vehicles parked partly on the roads reduce the effective width. Staff are friendly and helpful. WiFi is good in the clubhouse and at a few sites very close to the clubhouse. Verizon data service works very well. Laundry: 2 top-loaders ($1.25), 1 front-loader ($1.25), 5 dryers ($1 for 45 minutes); there's also a clothesline. Credit cards are not accepted. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a beautiful park sure to be filled almost entirely with winter visitors from the north country. The park is pretty new, and all of the facilities are more than adequate. There are lots of activities available, and the winter residents are very friendly. This park is a winter destination park where almost all of the RVs are parked for the entire wintertime. They have been erecting park models here at a rapid pace, but most spaces are still occupied by RVs. You will need to make reservations way ahead of your planned stay since there are very few unoccupied spaces in the park during the season. The park office closes at 3 PM so plan your arrival accordingly. The cost of our stay is based on the monthly cost since we stayed two months. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We booked at this park with an annual membership, which is $3000 (it comes to $500/month for six months). Due to personal reasons we left after three months. This park is lovely, clean and fairly new. The managers are pleasant and helpful. The park is in a round shape with an inner road and and outer one. There is a nice recreation hall, swimming pool area, barbecue and table area, library, billiard room with one table, and an exercise room. All are excellent, except the exercise room, which looks like a token gesture more than anything. It's only about 10' x 10' in size. Otherwise it is an excellent park. The location is Apache Junction, and if you like to walk in the desert, it is close. There is a good view of the Superstition mountains to the east. This is the type of park that has winter-long visitors, and there are quite a few activities going on. Other than the personal reasons that will not bring us back, we would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Very clean bathrooms and showers. We arrived just late enough that the Canadian snowbirds had left for the summer. I'm told they are pretty full during the winter. Close to shops and restaurants. The managers were always very nice and helpful. Rate is Good Sam weekly rate. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
I like this RV park because it has only a few park models. The staff was friendly and helpful and so were the park residents (most were snowbirds). Lots of activities are planned and there is a nice heated pool and hot tub. Some of the sites require leveling and can be a challenge to back into (the park manager is very helpful with backing). Verizon phone service is fine but our Verizon aircard did not work well. It must be Apache Junction because we had 4G service in Mesa. It is easy to get around the Phoenix area because of the great roads and shopping is easily accessed. We would certainly stay here again if we could get in. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Excellent park. We especially liked it because it is a smaller park with all RV's and has plenty of activities and scheduled events. Very friendly managers and residents. We felt "at home" from the minute we arrived. Very clean, modern park. We will definitely return. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is a good place to spend the winter! Rate quoted reflects the annual price (plus electric). Annual renters can have a shed if they want one. No extra charges for sewer, water, trash or pets. Daily is $35 (includes electric). Very nice park in a circular layout. New managers this year are excellent: very friendly and helpful. Sites are nice sized and some are quite large depending on where you are in the circle. Laundry is a confusing card system but we don't use it. High speed internet can be installed on a by-the-month basis from a local provider (no contract necessary). Very nice pool and spa. Lots of activities. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice clean large sites. Very friendly staff and residents: we felt very welcomed. Arrived at noon and within 10 minutes we where invited to ice cream sundae social. Larger pool and spa. Would have given 10 but no picnic tables. Close to shopping (Wal-Mart and Safeway). Free governed wireless internet (TenGoInternet) was quite adequate for email and web browsing, but too slow for streaming video and Skype. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Lovely newer park: has big clean sites, friendly staff and campers. Most are all-winter guests. The pool is lovely, as is the clubhouse. Has a country club atmosphere. The internet was "iffy", we were right across from the clubhouse, but couldn't get access a couple of days. It is far enough away from the traffic so as to be pretty quiet, easy to get in and out. Pet-friendly as long as you can get your dog outside the gate before doing her "business". Most of the guests seemed to be well acquainted with each other, but we were invited to take part in the parties while we were here. The laundry, used cards that cost just to buy one, and were confusing to use. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very nice, newer park. No park models, but many (friendly) snowbirds. Beautiful pool and spa, and a great billiard table. Good laundry with many newer machines, but the card required to use them was confusing and expensive. We like coin machines. Has a decent library. Was a large equestrian park a few blocks to the north, great walking. Friendly office staff, helpful, too. Good sized gravel sites with patio and no table. Rate reflects weekly price. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Rate quoted is for the annual rate. Daily rate is probably in the #35 range. This is a 55+ park but grand-kids can come visit on a temporary basis. Pets are welcome but they encourage you to take your dogs out of the park (along the street) to do their business. The park is in a circular configuration so the sites are wedge shaped which gives a little more room--some have a lot more room. Gravel for the car and MH with paved patios. Nice swimming pool and hot tub, library, workout room, pool table, card tables and library. Planned activities. Well maintained. Manager can be a little crusty. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a very nice park, and everyone was friendly. We stayed 5 days on Passport America. They had a spaghetti dinner while we were there, and we were invited to sit with 2 other couples from the park. The hot tub was down for painting while we were there, but there was a very nice swimming pool. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is mostly a 55+ community that has a few empty spaces. Temporary RVs must park in empty spaces somewhere in the park. The streets are quite narrow so it was difficult to back our 5th wheel into the assigned space. We were quite far from the restrooms that were set up as locker rooms adjacent to the pool, meaning not very private. We were close to the enclosed dog park area, which was thankfully had a few trees. Nice grocery store located not too far away. Another plus was the Flying Dutchman park is not far away; it is a wonderful place to hike. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Typical RV resort in this area, lots of park models, a few RV spaces. Staff was helpful on check-in. Sites are gravel with a concrete patio, no landscaping. sewer hook up was in back of site and slanted into the ground, could not properly hook up sewer extension. Nice pool, activity center. Bathrooms were not cleaned at all on weekends so very dirty. Being in big city , lots of city things to do, but lots of traffic too. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We are starting our 2nd month here and would highly recommend this park. It has mostly park models, but still plenty of RV sites. The majority of people are snowbirds and have been coming here for years, but welcome new comers. The facilities are clean and well maintained - nice fitness room, billiard room, swimming pool, spa, big laundry room with new and reasonably priced machines, and a huge meeting hall for a wide variety of activities - even a church service on Sunday mornings (during snowbird season). There is no internet at the site, but excellent internet in the TV room next to the office. Our air card worked good at our site. No cable TV at the site, but a public TV is available next to the office, and in the fitness room. For long term stays most residents use the local service provider for cable and internet. The landscaping is good throughout most the park, but is a little bare in some RV sites. I am a full timer and this is the first park I have seen no dog walkers, they are only allowed in certain parts of the park I guess, I don't have a dog so I'm not sure. The office and staff were friendly and helpful. The rate reflects an incredible special promotion they had, $750 for Oct/Nov/Dec. We have decided to stay a few extra months at their regular rate. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We stayed here for a few days and really enjoyed ourselves. Though the season was winding down, we still had a good time. Everyone was very friendly and helpful if you needed help. All the staff and the managers were very friendly. The resort was very clean and maintained with many obvious recent updating. The showers, exercise room, laundry, pool and spa were newly remodeled. The buildings were very accessible. There's a pet section and a dog run. Pet people are always friendly. Its a nice sized resort (more park models than Rv sites) with a lot of activities. Good Sam discount under 7 days. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We are full-time RVers and have stayed at many RV resorts. Our month long stay at Sunrise was one of the most enjoyable. We were favorably impressed with the facilities including new bathrooms, fitness area, and laundry. The heated pool and hot tub were immaculate. The landscaping was attractive and well-maintained. We were very impressed with the friendly staff from the front desk to the security staff and management. We especially enjoyed all the activities that were offered on a very full social calendar. We visited other resorts in Apache Junction while we were there and decided that Sunrise suited us best. We have already booked our stay for next March. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We camped here last year and had no problems. The park was nicely maintained and we were treated very well. However, this year the park is under new management, who we feel are unprofessional and inexperienced. The male manager is openly rude to people. The park is not in great shape, lots of weeds around the complex and the beautiful greenbelt of last year, was apparently let go until recently. The path on it is unwalkable it's so muddy and torn up. Trees appear to have been unwatered and some are dying. The new management doesn't appear to know anything about landscaping. The park apparently put some money into redoing the pool and bathrooms which look nice. Hopefully the park can fix its landscaping problems and management problems. Even the regulars here are complaining. It does have a separate dog run area. We still love the fact the pets are kept separate as we have none and don't want any around us. The park does have lots of ongoing activities which make it fun as the RV'ers and park model people are very friendly. Hope they fix their problems as we want to return next year. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Similar experience to other two negative reviews. Narrow streets made parking my 35' fifth wheel a real challenge. Park model sewer connection in the back middle meant I did not hook up my sewer. PICK UP YOUR DOG WHEN YOU WALK THROUGH THE PARK outside the limited “dog sites.” No dog run in the park, which was not explained properly to us. It’s a park model park renting unoccupied sites to unsuspecting RVers. Staff were friendly though, as well as the residents. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is NOT an RV resort. Not even an RV Park. It is a community for park models with a few set aside for snowbirds in RVs. When we checked in, the staff was extremely rude. We got to our site which was mostly dirt with a little bit of pea-gravel. Since the park was for park models, the sewer hook-up was in the center under the motor home and not accessible. When asking at the office about it, they were very rude and actually laughing at my husband! They offered to come hook it up. We would drive the rig forward then after they hooked up, we would back up. We asked who was going to do the disconnect since the waste would be running up hill, there would certainly be a mess when disconnecting. Besides, that would be a lot of hassle for an overnight visit. They required a deposit for a key to the dog walk. We got the key, went to the dog walk, opened the gate: the dog walk was outside the park on a residential street! The walk area was a dirt strip beside the street. What a joke! Don't you know the residents love it? There were numerous signs stating no dogs beyond this sign. Then, if you were going to be out past 7 PM, you had to place a $40 deposit for a transmitter to get back in the gate. The office did not open until 9 AM for us to get the deposit back, and we planned to leave by 7:30 AM. This was the worst RV experience in my 15 years of RVing. There is not enough money to get me to go back to this place again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We toured Sunrise twice before requesting a site there for our 5th wheel. We planned on staying there while we searched for a park model to buy at the park. We were given a list of the available sites by the office staff; we looked at the sites and chose the one we liked from the list. We were told that we had to write a personal check for $150 to secure the site. Because we didn't plan to move into the park for a week, we made a 3rd trip to the park to pay the requested deposit. Three day's BEFORE our arrival date, the Sunrise office staff called our cell phone and said that they had given our site to another party. They requested that we choose another site! We were disappointed (and angry) at their lack of consideration, so we decided to find a different park. When we asked for our deposit back, the park manager refused. Saying the only condition that they refund money was for severe illnesses! After I warned the manager that I intended to sue them for the refund and expenses, she relented and agreed to send a check for the $150 deposit. We did not stay at the Sunrise R.V. Resort and WILL NOT stay there anytime in the future! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
A 55+ RV community. Very clean, pretty much in the middle of Apache Junction, which makes it a very convenient location for stores and Phoenix. Many activities, but mostly for the old folks. Pool is heated. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Based on weekly rate. Sites are OK but streets are narrow and they are hard to back into. Nice concrete pad for patio. Not sure what activities they have. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a 55+ community and very quiet. They have a nice pool, hot tub and workout room. There are lots of activities planned including water aerobics, zumba, board games and card games. They had an ice cream social and a special St. Patrick's Day dinner. We would come here again. The sites are good sized with patios but are rather tight to get into. Lots of park models. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Very nice smaller park. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We almost had the park to ourself since most of the Snowbirds had already left for cooler places. Would definitely stay here again. The rate reflects a CampClubUSA discount. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Park was clean and very well maintained. People were friendly and instantly made you feel you were part of their community. We were close to the main buildings but not too close. The laundry facilities were awesome. They used a refillable card rather than coins which was really convenient. The pool and hot tub were nice temperatures and most of the time I was the only one there. A propane truck came through the park weekly and if you wanted a refill, you put a card in a visible location. You paid the same price for propane as in town - no delivery charges. The sites were gravel with a 2.5m X 5m concrete pad. As well, you could park a vehicle on the other side of the concrete pad so they were wide sites. The RV resort had great proximity to Superstition Mountains (for hiking, etc) as well as the I-60 (for restaurants, shopping, etc). Would definitely visit there again! We camped here in a Motorhome.
This park is mostly park models. There are only a few rows available for RV's. This is not a pet friendly park. The spaces for the pet area are at the far back of the resort. You are not allowed to walk your pet outside of this area. To walk outside of the park, you need to drive your pet through the non-pet area. They have a small dog run area. People were very friendly. Sites are a bit tight for getting into. You have to go up a 3 foot hill to get into them. Resort is convenient to flea market, shopping, and Superstition Mountains. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Have mixed feelings about this park. It has plenty of nice, though dated facilities and activities. The cable tV is ready to go and worth $15 extra (although the picture could have been better). The location is good for Apache Jct. Staff and security people were mostly friendly and helpful. It's just not worth the high rates: we paid $740 a month plus electricity. Rates get better for longer stays but if you don't use the pools, etc. then why stay here? Pools were usually full of old folks bobbing around. RV sites are mixed in with park models and along back walls. Be sure to look in advance since the sewer hookups are varied, and gravel is unlevel. We camped here in a Motorhome.
RV sites are mixed with Park Models and long term residents. Our site was not street level making it difficult to back into. The spots are rock covered with a small concrete patio area, no trees. A couple of things I would like to mention. The WiFi is not readily available or reliable, and it does not seem it is a very high priority in the park. If you need to use the internet on a daily basis, don't count on it here. Also, the garbage is only picked up twice a week and there are no dumpsters available if you want to get rid of your trash between pickups. In a travel trailer, sometimes you don't want your trash sitting around for days on end. The people, residents and employees of the park are very friendly. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
The people who stay here for the season seem to love it. They are friendly people and many have been coming here for years. However, it wasn't for us. The internet was awful. Some days it was off throughout the park, other days it was just the tower nearest us that was out. At busy times, we just couldn't get on. It wouldn't be so bad, but we paid $30 a month for it. Garbage is picked up at site twice a week, but there is no where in the park to dump it if you don't get it out by 8 am. In a motor home we don't have a lot of room to store our garbage for a week. The only showers that we could find were by the pool. There are lots of activities, laundry is inexpensive and plenty of machines, cable TV is good. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a pretty typical +55 Sunbird park. However it has EVERYTHING!!! It's got a wood and stain glass shop!!! You can play "pickle ball"! On-site notary. It's like a small self contained city. Sites are clean and neat, stark but decent size. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Almost everyone we met smiles and greets you nicely except for one old spinster who insisted on warning about "the rules". They have Tengo Wi-Fi Internet (they are the worst) and if it wasn't for that, this place would have rated a 10. Probably hot as Hades in the summer but pleasant in Dec. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I stayed Jan - Mar, '08. A large park with many park models and with RV sites sprinkled among them. Be sure to take your bike! A well maintained park and facilities with good security. It has great pools, recreation areas and the two-story clubhouse is super. There are many planned activities, entertainment and events. It has a good laundry facility, too. It is close to shopping and eateries. I would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I stayed here for two months, January and February. This was my first time staying here and have mixed feelings about it. It is primarily a retirement community of park models with a few RV sites scattered around the park. The park has outstanding amenities and an abundance of activities for residents, both long and short term. As for me, I prefer parks that have more RVers than park models. If you need a long-term snowbird site with lots to do, this might be the one for you. Monthly rate was $525 plus electric and cable. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The park calls itself a 'luxury' resort. Because it is 20 years old, some of the amenities are showing signs of their age. The water was off on 3 separate days due to breaks in the lines, and one of the two hot-tub's was being jackhammered into piece's during our month-long stay. The sites are mostly level, however they are elevated approx. a foot above the street level. This makes it harder to hook-up or un-hook a tow behind or 5th wheel. We were assigned a site along the outside perimeter wall and had to listen to VERY loud motorcycles and racing vehicles at all hours of the night from a busy street. Each site has a fruit producing orange or grapefruit tree during winter months. Most of the 1100 sites are filled by park models with R.V.'s mixed among them. The staff & residents are very friendly and courteous. The park offers a wide range of activities, crafts, and entertainment. We would stay there again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is a 55+ Park. Not much going on except golf, card games, jam sessions and eight ball tournaments once per week. They advertise a 5 hole pitch and putt golf course, but it is in poor condition and impossible to putt on the greens as they are very rough. A lot of people here have been coming year after year. Don't know why. We camped here in a camper.
