Any port in a storm! Nice reception person, but park is somewhat run down without Wi-Fi or Cable TV. It is dusty, dirty, and filled with extended stays who have the debris and trash around their RVs that extended stayers are known to have. If we could have found a nicer campground we would have gone there. This is an AVOID on our list. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I wasn't expecting much due to the previous reviews so I wasn't too disappointed with this park. It served out needs as a place to stop with full hookups, but that's all it did. Upon check in I was advised that the bathrooms and showers were out of order, but we could use the porta-potty provided. Also, the WiFi was out and would not be repaired "until summer". We were placed in our site which was a two-site drive through meaning we drove through the first site to park in the 2nd. The patio was cracked and broken concrete to the point of being a trip/fall hazard. Our site had a picnic table which appeard to be repaired recently, but many of the sites did not have any. The sewer hookup had a concrete block around it making it higher than ground level making hookup difficult. This place was acceptable for the price we paid, but it could be downright depressing if it was busier or if we needed more amenities. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We spent one night here on our way through. The park is run down. The interior roads are pot holed and broken up asphalt. The grounds are not well kept with weeds and trash. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Really dreadful RV park but it does have a great restaurant. It is very poorly maintained with weeds everywhere and broken concrete at the sites. There are lots of long-term sites which were obvious by the amount of stuff on them and the lack of maintenance. We really enjoyed dinner at the steakhouse, but if stopping in Flagstaff in the future, will stay at a different park & drive to the the restaurant. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This park is convenient to the interstate and has the restaurant with entertainment on premises. The park is indeed old, but our site was level and the utilities all worked. The meal and entertainment were great!. We camped in a motorhome. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This park could be a really nice park, but it needs some major upgrading. The sites are gravel/dirt and are not level. There were a lot of unkempt permanents towards the back. Apparently the rules we were given for the park do not apply to those permanent folks! The laundry room was very dated and none too clean. Three of the six dryers did not work, and a couple of the washers were also out of order. The park is close to I-40, but we did not notice the traffic noise. There is a 'renown' restaurant in the park and judging by the traffic it must be quite a good one. Adequate for a one night pass through only. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
A great little park in the beautiful pines. Pretty close to a few things you might want to check out, like a small mall and a few fast food and restaurants, but also close to forest nature. We loved the steakhouse, good food and great entertainment. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Older, rustic park with a restaurant/bar on site. Easy access from I-40, easy to get around the park and into my back-in space. I like this park and during my walk around found many flat sites that can handle very large rigs with toads. Some of the picnic pads are broken up and there is no cable TV, only 4 digital stations (English) available with 2-3 Spanish stations as well. There are many back-in sites and many pull through too. I had no problems leveling my rig. Wi-Fi has been fine but I can see if the park was full that many might have problems if they are far from the only transceiver located on the office building. Once up and on-line, it has a time out timer that shuts down your Wi-Fi if it's idle, but it's easily restored. I had to connect with IE or Chrome but could then switch to Firefox. Was able to watch TV programs on-line (but the park is only about a quarter full right now). Bathroom showers are small and one shower head wasn't working but with flip-flops I would have no problem using the stall that had a working shower head. Room was clean with plenty of t-paper. Laundry room was excellent. The rebar mentioned by another reviewer is the handle on the sewer blocks and during a walk around before backing into a space are easily moved out of the way. But: the sewer connections are surrounded by a low cement box and are closer to the RV then the electrical tower so be careful, maybe plan to arrive during daylight. There are 15A and 50A outlets but no 30A so you need an adapter: sold in the on-site store for around $30 including taxes so bring your own if needed. I'm staying here a week, and at $176.10/week (senior rate), I'm pleased so far. We camped here in a Motorhome.
When we arrived, the campground was covered in snow that was melting from a storm 4 days ago. We were in a level "pull through site" that seemed composed of gravel and dirt. When the snow melted, we saw our picnic table was on a small concrete slab. The campground is full of large pine trees. The right side of my travel trailer had branches sticking out about 1 foot over the roof. Our site and a great deal of the campground was very muddy due to melting snow. Our site also had a yellow concrete block that stood about 6 inches above the ground to protect the sewer hook up. There was a piece of yellow re bar sticking up about 18 inches that was bent over at 90 degrees indicating many people have hit them. When I walked around the campground, well over half the re bar was bent over. Due to the placement of the re bar and picnic table, I had to back up and maneuver about 10 times to get my tires and sewer connections by the re bar without damaging the tires or ripping off my terminal drain connections. I watched one person back his 5th wheel out of the pull through since he could not get by the re bar. The roads are asphalt but the roads are pot holed and in poor shape. The Wi-Fi was non existent. I was able to locate the site with my laptop but the signal was too weak to allow my laptop or I-phone to hook up. AT&T worked well for phone and Inter Net. There is no cable. I could not put my antenna up full height due to the trees, but I was able to get 5 stations. Price is right, location is good, but I will try another park next time in Flagstaff. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Very easy on and off in Flagstaff. Nice people at the front desk and general store. Fairly wide open spaces. Wi-Fi was very unreliable. They were working on the reception at the time we stayed there. Nice stop over for a night or two. Good value for the price and convenience to the highway. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I've stayed at this park twice before and I swear I remember it to be a much nicer place. The office and park staff were very nice. The restrooms/showers were pretty nasty so I avoided them. The site they placed me in was so lopsided there was no way I could ever have leveled my rig. I think I'm going to have to find another place to stay on my next trip to Flagstaff. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Staying here for 2 nights to see Flagstaff. As noted before, it is a basic campground with some old rigs on the back row. Verizon is very good. Ate dinner at Black Bart's. Food very good, almost to much to eat. Good singing waiters. Electric for our 50 amp is very good, with high water pressure. Need to use a reducer on the water line. We are in site 127 with good Direct Dish signal. Would stay here again. It is just off the 40 hwy. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The sites were more than adequate for the price considering they had full hook ups. We arrived after dark, and the office was closed already, so we were unable to get any guidance regarding the best possible site for the size of our motorhome. We scraped some tree branches as we pulled in to our site. The best part of the park was the steak house on site. The food was very good, and there was constant live entertainment with the servers performing songs. The prices for the meal were a little high, but the quality was very good and the entertainment was very good. This is a great place for a one night stop. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a basic, older simple RV park with good power and Verizon signal. Most of the sites are pull through and about half of them are shaded by pine trees. We chose it because it's the closest park to downtown and it's right off of I-40. The access roads are good. It is walking distance to several restaurants including Black Bart's Steakhouse. When we arrived their internet was down and they didn't know when it would be back up. Many long term residents are located along the last row of the park, but over night guests are parked in the first couple of rows. We would definitely stay here again in spite of some noise from the highway and the next door Truckers' parking lot. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed here to visit friends in Flagstaff. Found it to be an old run down park with lots of permanent campers. The roads were at one time paved but have fell into disrepair. The wifi never worked for us. Water pressure is over 100 PSI, so you might want to use a regulator. The sites are gravel and most are fairly level. It is very close to I-40 and the traffic noise is considerable. The restrooms and showers were outdated and dirty. There is a restaurant on site. The food was average and overpriced [$30 steak]. They have a music review at the restaurant that is very similar to a Karaoke performance. There is an excellent dog walk in a wooded area East of the park that is over 20 shaded acres. It dosent appear that any serious maintenance has been done to this park in years. It probably wouldnt be a bad park for an overnight if your not too particular. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We stayed here for the Steak house and musical revue which were absolutely great. It is too bad the park is so completely run down. It look like no money has been spent maintaining the park at all, the washroom and showers were terrible. We would not stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
$26.25 (including tax) rate was AAA or AARP. We enjoyed staying at this park. We had absolutely no problem with noise or neighbors. Nice place and manager was very nice. Great, but costly restaurant on premise. Our site (and looks like most) were very level. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed here for 3 nights and although we had seen some negative remarks here, we thought we would give them a try. They are an easy on, easy off from I-40. I didn't hear all the noise that others remarked about. There are a few permanents here but they are quiet and didn't bother us at all. Overall, it was good for what we paid. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The people & the price are the best; the camp cites & grounds are sadly neglected. A few permanent hoarders make it look bad for the several who keep their space neat. (But the management said they're leaving.) Steakhouse with singing staff and good food $$$. Back row backs up to trees & a street, but it's quiet. I will stay there again because it's convenient. We camped here in a Motorhome.
A lot of permanent residents. Many sites look shabby and one would think that management would make them fix it. But it seems many RV parks are catering to permanent residents and don't worry as much about the over nights. No road noise (or resident noise) to speak of. The only issue is a blind curve at the exit. If people were driving the speed limit it wouldn't be an issue. When you pull out - get moving. We'd stay here again if nothing else was available. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Wonderful pine-scented mountain air. The sap did drip from the trees so lookout! Large wooded area in the rear of the park was great for dog-walking. The sites are mostly dirt instead of gravel or grass. Steakhouse smelled great! Easy on/off of Interstate 40. Would return for an overnight. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
It's OK. Way too many permanent residents with piles of junk piled up. They put us pretty far from them. Sites are not level, but not horrible. Some road noise from highway and truck lot. Best value in the area for a quick stop. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Looking for an overnight park, we did not consider this park because of it's low rating for facilities and recreation. However, as we approached the park, we were pleasantly surprised. We met gracious hosts, a pull through site, and they even had a steakhouse on the premises with singing wait persons. Not bad for a reasonable price for an overnight stay. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Our second time here so we knew what we were getting into. This is a funky little park where you might want to spend a night or two. Sites are pretty uneven. I chose an open site this time because it's further away from the truck rest area and freeway, and tree sap. It's right next to I-40 so convenient in that way, not much else to recommend it. The Farmers Market (name of store) is a great place to buy fresh produce and we also stop at Brookside Chocolate downtown for a treat. Very convenient to Flagstaff-area sites, this RV park is not a place you'd want to use as a "destination camp." We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Keep going to another RV park. They have no level spots, and NO 30 amp service. The lot next door has a hundred or more 18 wheelers idling their motors all night while the drivers sleep. The fumes were horrid. We will not ever stay here again, EVER. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Convenient place for a overnight stop. Near gas, right off I-40. Our site was level, but not much to look at. Would stay again for a overnight stay only. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Park is conveniently located right off I-40, close to Flagstaff. No 30 amp (adapter needed), only 50 + 20 amp hookups. Has some pretty unsightly permanent rigs. It's dusty, dirty, windy. Laundry, bathrooms and showers were tired and filthy. Only "light" cleaning every few days. Bathroom/shower area is shared with on-site Steak House restaurant (which serves tour buses), so be prepared for high traffic and filth during operating hours. Kind of bizarre. Staff was pleasant, but not especially helpful or knowledgeable about much of anything. Not recommended, but pricing is modest for area. Probably wouldn't stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed here for a night in April and had no problems. The steakhouse on site was marvelous, with singing waiters. The food was very good and nominally priced. We enjoyed the stay and would stay here again. We were across the access road from the 18 wheeler lot, but did not hear them. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed one night in March, yes, park was a little run-down, but we've stayed in a lot worse. The office staff was friendly & helpful; moved us to another site when we requested. The price was right. We ate at the Steakhouse; really good food & friendly waitstaff. The waiters/waitresses all did a musical show & kept us entertained for the evening. We thought the food was great & fairly priced. $25 for a good steak isn't a lot nowadays. We would stop here again for the restaurant & low price camping. We camped here in a Motorhome.
End-to-end pull-throughs; property has some hills, and some sites aren't too level. Pavement is broken and some minor potholes. Not too bad, just a bit unsightly. No 30-amp outlets, just 20- and 50-amp, so bring your adapters. Generally it was a decent place for 5 nights, with LOTS to see in the area: Painted Desert/Petrified Forest, Sedona's red rocks (highway 89A), Lowell Observatory, Montezuma Castle, etc. Staff was friendly and helpful too! Note: no cable TV, no phone, no Wi-Fi (although you MIGHT be able to get a signal from the Super-8 motel if you're lucky)! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
It's right off the freeway. That's the best thing about this park. The whole property is rolling and uneven making it difficult to level out. The folks were friendly and the camping was cheap. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
I thought that this park was pretty decent, unlike some of the reviews previously. The back row of the park had a few long term tenants, but none were overly junky. The showers were not very clean, but I do not take showers anywhere but my rig. The road through the park is not that bad. I would also not use the washing machines as they looked unclean. However, the office staff was nice, and I would return again and again for the nice sites and the convenience. If you want 5 star bathrooms and laundry room, feel free to pay triple the price per night at the KOA down the road. For everyone else, this park is a good value. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Back row is all long term tenants, some quite junky. Interior roads need attention, very rough pavement with pot holes. Trees east of entrance obstruct vision of heavy traffic area. Power available at sites is only 20 Amp and 50 AMP. Office sells 30 to 50 adapters. The campsites have many sand burrs, so be prepared to brush out your pets. You must use a water pressure regulator, water pressure is 100 PSI. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The convenient location worked well to tour the area and the price was right considering how expensive the other area parks are. We did not attend a nightly dinner show. We thought the price was high considering it was performed by local students. The antique store has been closed indefinitely. This park needs maintenance on the unlevel sites and should replace machines the laundry room. The long term residents did not pose any problem during our stay. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Has some long term stays, We did enjoy the dinner show at Black Barts. Not sure if we will stay again. If we do it will be to see the dinner show. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Our impression of this campground was that they do not do any maintenance. The laundry room was filthy (floors, washers, counter) and the lock on the door is missing altogether, so they close the door with a large rock on the floor. The campsites are uneven. They have a restaurant with entertainment (college students), but their prices are high. The trains and highway close by make it a noisy place to stay. In addition, tractor trailer trucks park overnight next door and run their loud generators all night. We will not return to Black Bart's and do not recommend it. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed four nights. The sites were semi-level. The interior roads were very bumpy with potholes. The campground and restaurant share the bathroom/shower. The restaurant has tour busses which use the bathroom, leaving it crowded and dirty. It was not cleaned the entire time we were there, as proved by the debris in the same places each day. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We stopped here so we could have dinner at the restaurant; good steak and entertainment. But the RV park was awful. Very hard to get level on any of the sites. The laundry was filthy. Lots of permanent residents, and not much maintenance being done. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Sites are fairly level, close to freeway and town access a plus, restaurant available for dinners only also a plus, people working office are very friendly and helpful. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a dated camp, but it was fine for a short trip to Sedona, not long term. There were no pet places, the showers were so small it was easier to shower in the rv, and everything looked old and in dire need of remodeling. I was afraid to wash in the laundry room. The steakhouse seemed to be busy, but too expensive for me, the meals averaged about 25.00. They had a great sing-a- long though, so it might have been worth it. I probably wouldn't stay there again, but it was close to car rentals. NO WiFi at all, definitely a problem. We camped here in a Motorhome.
A very rundown park. It needs a lot of repair and upkeep. No one really knows what is going on in the park or cares. It is all about location. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We just stayed overnight here and would not want to stay any longer. It is next door to a truck repair and overnight stay area for truckers. Also lots of train noise. Restaurant was very pricey for what we ordered. Sewer sites are dangerous for the sites as they are left with a steel rod coming out of it (they must of been old ones) which they didn't take out of ground for newer ones. We had to place a chair over it as not to fall over it coming out of our door. Lots of rubish all over the place, even one RV with no tires on it. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Level sites, clean and well laid out park with great restaurant! Very friendly and helpful staff. Looking forward to returning again! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We spent a night here on our way to the Verde Valley. It is an older, rustic park with lots of mature pine trees. It's like camping in the woods, but in the city. The temporary guests are separated from the full-time residents. The sewer hookup is curbed with bright yellow paint, and has a brightly painted yellow steel rod with which to remove the sewer cap (so you don't have to pick it up with your hands). It is nearly impossible to imagine how someone could not see this, or trip over it. We didn't get to take advantage of the amenities due to our short stay. The truck stop diner across the street is walkable, and despite appearances, has the best truck stop food ever. We camped here in a Motorhome.
My Husband and I stayed here on our way to New Mexico for Thanksgiving. It was a quaint RV park, which had a lovely little restaurant and a wonderful view of the snow capped mountains. We will stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Nice park but i was next to some noisy neighbors and a barking dog. I have no pets but I do not mind them as long as they don't bark all night! We camped here in a Motorhome.
Easy access from Hwy. 40 through town. Sites are dirt, numerous sites under trees. Paved driveways. Sites are fairly level. A reasonably decent park for an overnight stay. Great restaurant on the premises known as Black Barts Steakhouse which uses local university students for doing waiter/waitress chores. The waiters and waitress employees also sing solos and group numbers while also serving your meal. Prices at the restaurant are average, food was quite good. Good idea to have a reservation as the place can fill up early, especially on weekends. The east side of the park has a number of what appears to be permanent residents in older RV's. Park was fairly quiet except if you slept with your windows open you could hear a train across the freeway. We have stopped here for one night stays each year for the past 4 years and have had no problems and have not heard of any problems. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
The worst dump I have seen in 21 years of full time camping. Honest. We called in advance to verify availability but no one ever answers the phone. We went anyway. No one in the office so we sat for 10 min. and she came walking up complaining about having to call the police again because of campers fighting. We all go inside and she tells us she only has 50A hookups and charges $25 to purchase a 30A adapter. So before we even answered her the phone rang and she is gabbing with her boyfriend about a date. In the mean time customers are piling up inside the office. I just looked at my wife and waved her to come on. We left without a word spoken. Outside an older couple leaving said they would not give them $25 for a 30A adapter if it was the last one on earth. So we drive out to the end of the driveway and start looking at our Woodalls book. About 3 minutes later this office woman comes screaming to get the **** out of here. I guess this is Black Bart hospitality. I would not go there again if it was the last camp in the world. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Terrible park, we were actually afraid to stay here. Many fulltimers. The Black Bart restaurant was quite cute and fun, so if you get stuck staying here, at least go to the restaurant. Local college students perform while serving We camped here in a Motorhome.
Ok for one night stay. Diesel smell from large truck stop at Little America required us to close our windows and use air conditioning rather than breath fresh mountain air. We were in a pull in site that was suppose to hold 2 rigs but they would need to be two short rigs. Associated restaurant very expensive. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Positives: wide sites, mostly level, some shade trees, 50 amp service, restaurant on-site, easy access from I-40 Negatives: some sites are near the permanent residents' area which is an eye sore, never saw personnel checking on campground, dog excrement on sites, near railroad tracks, no Wi-Fi or cable TV. Other: water pressure is 100psi so be sure you have a pressure regulator, discount available for senior citizens. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We should have read the reviews before staying at this park. We were tired and it was conveniently located. We were parked across the street from the back row of dilapidated RVs with permanent residents. Everything about this park is in need of a lot of maintenance and cleaning up. It is not a good place to spend the night. We would not go back. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Where to begin. Police cars called for domestic problem. Rottweilers running loose and doing their affairs on our site. Dogs tied outside barking as you walk by the scary guy next door. Ok, actually everywhere on the back row. The upper part of the park upfront hides the back part of the park. In the back, all manner of ratty, old, falling apart trailers with debris around them, including trucks on blocks. Office very friendly. That's a plus. No we won't return here again unless someone else reviews it and says it's under tighter management. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Boy have we seen the rotwilers!! And the run down trailers. It used to be a very nice park. If you have to stay there get a site up front call ahead and make reservations. We camped here in a Motorhome.
In response to reviews of the park, we were reluctant to stay here, but this was one of the only RV park open in late December 2004. There is 20 and 50 amp service only; office loaned us adaptor for 30 amp service. We have NEVER had to do this before. Railroad is about 1/2 mile to the north and busy; runs east west through town parallel to Route 66. I am sure that it is noisy in the entire town. If railroad bothers you pick another town to stay in. We don't use bathroom or laundry so did not go in them. There are several older permanent rigs with lots of "extras" around them: this doesn't bother us. We did eat at Black Bart's Restaurant. We enjoyed a lot. The wait staff provides the entertainment without ignoring dinner service. The restaurant web site prices are wrong: dinners were about $18 to $26. The grounds are VERY dirty with trash: the park is in need of cleaning and maintenance everywhere. It does not look like much maintenance has been done since the Clinton Presidency. NO cable TV and poor antenna reception. GPS coordinates N 35 11.535, W 111 37.073. Ok place to stop for a few days very moderately priced park @ $20/night (over 55 yr rate). We camped here in a Motorhome.

This was a nice friendly park, close to the city and attractions. Our only concern was that some of the "campers" looked a little disreputable. While in the laundromat, some strange looking characters asked a lot of questions of us. We did keep our campers locked when we weren't actually at the site. We only stayed a couple of days. We probably would go back again though. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Large parking lot with hookups. Bathrooms are unkept, shower area has standing water most of the time. Large number of permanant residents with some trailers looking like they're returning to the earth. No real facilities, as the RV park appears to be an afterthought of the on-site steakhouse. While we were here our cat was taken, I was assaulted by a permenant resident in plain view of one of the park maintenance men (about which the management did nothing), and the train noise kept us up all night. And I do mean ALL night. Worst park I've been to. I'll never return. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Several permanent sites. Very little shade. Has level, grass (dusty) sites. Okay for overnighter: easy on/off
access. We camped here in a camper.
This campground is located on a lava flow and about twenty miles from the Wupatki National Monument, a pueblo from the indigenous people. There is no sign on the highway, so just follow the signs for the Sunset Crater area. There's one trail (road) leading the former fire lookout. The Verizon service is weak, but texting works. It's in a quiet and beautiful area. I'd go back. I paid half-price using the handy Geezer Pass. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The roads in this park is the tightest we have ever been in. The sites were very un level as well. We were here in a 36' fifth wheel. I was wondering if I was going to be able to get out in the morning. There are big rocks and metal trash can posts in the way to make a wide enough turn to get out of some of the pull through sites. The premium end sites look like they would be much better to get out of. Luckily someone pulled out two sites in front of me so I was able to pull up and get out. The bathrooms were clean and it was convenient to everything. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Some sites appear to not be level and others are tight. We needed to make some adjustments for our 30 footer. But, overall, park is well run and clean. Nice staff. Showers excellent. Well stocked store with some basic groceries. Lots of trees and not much street noise. A few miles east of downtown. Our site did not have cable. That would have raised the rate a few dollars a night. Several nature trails and a good off-leash doggie area. We stayed two nights and would stay again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
As others have noted, this is an attractive CG and appears to be well-maintained. The front office staff were friendly. The roads are paved and the sites are loose gravel. Because the CG is on a hillside there was considerable side slope on our site, but we were able to get level without any problems. There are lots of trees, but we were able to get satellite reception. My biggest complaint is that the roads are rather narrow and the management seems to think that large boulders and trash cans on steel posts are good site markers and should be put right at the edge of the road. We were able to get into our site without difficulty even with the car hitched, but when we leave we will keep the car unhitched to provide more maneuvering room for our 40' MH. With a little common sense the management could make this into a place where big rigs feel comfortable without significantly changing its attractiveness. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The park is clean and well maintained except for the roads. Of course, keep in mind that this place gets snow and that probably makes it difficult to keep roads smooth. Nice hiking trails with access from the park. Saw deer in the park in the evening. Tengointernet Wifi works on PC & Ipad not Iphone. Cable at site did not work had to string it from another site. It also had low signal issues during our stay. Camp personnel did work with us. They were very helpful. Park is close to gas stations, groceries, etc. It was quiet - could not hear road noise or trains. Would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This was a quick overnight stay and, to save money, we opted for a site with all hook-ups except sewer. Campground is heavily treed and evoked memories of camping as a child. It's quite lovely. I did laundry while there; the laundry facilities are clean and worked well. There is a bookshelf from which to borrow/donate books which is always a nice benefit. The store seemed to have quite a few of the essentials. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We would stay here as a long-term stay only as the nightly rate is a bit steep, in our opinion. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Conveniently located and right next to national forest with walking trails which gave it a nice outdoors feel. We stayed in one of the Super Sites which was very nice. It had a great outdoor area with a table and chairs, so it was nice to not have to drag our stuff out for an overnighter. We walked the entire property, and it was pretty nice and fairly quiet, but I would not stay in one of the regular spots. As others have noted, access is tight for a big rig, but I have been in far worse campgrounds, and this one is worth a visit. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Everything was up to KOA standards. I would stay there again and recommend to others. We didn't get cable hook up but had no problem getting local TV over the antenna. Did not like their Wi-fi (Tengointernet) since it does not work with Apple iPhone or iPad. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This campground is set at the foot of a hill and is surrounded by national forest. The pine trees in the campground offer shade. There are really two parts to this campground - tents and small trailers are placed at the front, with lots of trees, quite lovely. Larger trailers and motorhomes are placed at the back, with fewer trees. These sites are close together and somewhat unlevel (some more than others). We first picked site #152. It is a lovely site, spacious with a patio and furniture, in the NE corner. Unfortunately, when we tried to level in our 40' motorhome, the front wheels were at least 15" off the ground. We decided to move. The person in the office told me that site 152 was better suited to vehicles 36' or under, which I imagine is true. It was the drop-off towards the front of our RV that was the problem. Beautiful site though, right next to the national forest. It is the "superest" of the supersites. The other supersites are on the ends of the RV rows. Most are relatively level, and are a little more spacious than the regular sites. We moved to a regular site, which was fairly level although we did have to put blocks under the back left tires. It was one of the narrowest of sites however, and we had to push the picnic table up a slight hill to make room for our RV. My husband had to move back and forth to get into the site, and the people behind us had to move their parked car out of the way. Upon leaving, my husband drove into the site in front of us (which was fortunately empty), because it was easier to turn out of. Once settled we were fine. We were able to receive satellite TV (not possible at several of the sites). AT&T cell phone worked fine. Verizon data service worked well at certain times of day (morning) but dropped often in the evenings. Location was good, close to everything, easy on/off of I-40. Traffic and train noise was not bothersome. The sewer connection was not threaded, which made us a little uneasy. Staffers were helpful and friendly enough. There are other campgrounds in the area, but they were either booked or closing for the winter when we arrived. I might have given it a lower score, except the location is good. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Park easy to get in and out of. There is not a lot of room to park at the main entrance when checking in. Large shade trees, and gravel pads are a bit narrow but workable. The services worked well and were easy to hook up. All the staff were very friendly and helpful with local area knowledge and advice on routes to take and places to see. Convenient to services, shopping, truck stop near by. Park is clean and well looked after. We stayed 3 nights and would stay again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Staff not nice at all. Roads in park very narrow and not very well marked. Had problems with cable office manager said it was my motorhome and would not even check. My cable worked fine the five campgrounds prior and the next two after. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This was my first time in a KOA and I was really looking forward to checking it out. We stayed for one night for a quick trip to Flagstaff. I would rate it as fairly average. We have a 38' class A towing a small car. The roads are tight but you can get in and out without too much trouble. The overall feel just wasn't that great to me. There was such a variety of "types" of campers that is just felt odd. There were people there obviously long term as they had all of their sewer and water lines wrapped in insulation. There were people staying in the tee-pees and cabins, people camping in tents, and then the trailers and RV's. By the time you got everyone in there, it sort of had the look of a messy closet. However, the employees were all awesome and the people we met were all very nice. Keep in mind when considering this review, we do prefer the nicer, more manicured RV parks when we travel so perhaps this just wasn't our style. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We like the convenience of the location of this park but the park itself is mismanaged. This is the second time we have stayed here and both times we were put in a site that was much too small. The owners need to be aware of the sites that can hold large motorhomes and the ones that can't. The two larger motorhomes next to us were also on small sites. Just because it's a pull through site, does not mean a 35' or larger motorhome can fit into it. We were not able to use our awning and barely got the slides out. We noticed that much small trailers and one night customers were put into nicer more spacious sites. Very, very poor management. We had a one week reservation and should have been put into a larger more comfortable site. It is really unfortunate that this park is so mismanaged as it could be a good park but the owners just don't understand. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We prefer to stay in KOA campgrounds. This is probably the worst one we have stayed in in over twenty years of camping. Weeds are growing between the sites, sites are not level, and the women in the office are very loud which does not portray a business like atmosphere. Far too much joking around at the campers expense. I could not get our cable TV to work, so I called the office and was told that the campground had been converted to HDTV. As our TV was older we needed a box that they had there. I asked if they could deliver it and was assured that they would. An hour later, no box so I called to cancel my request. THERE WAS NO MENTION OF THIS ISSUE WHEN WE CHECKED IN. The owners of this campground need to get involved in its management. If they are on-site, then they need to take a course on how to run a good campground, because they aren't doing so now. We would not recommend this campground to anyone. Glad we only booked one night. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Charged extra for kids which I understand isn't unusual, but it still boggles my mind. Site was beautiful, on a hill-side, and somewhat tight and tough to level in. The bathhouse was immaculate though and the overall experience was restful and quiet. We would stay there again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This park tries hard to have it all but just falls short. We had one of the deluxe sites with a nice patio and glider. Some of the other sites were very unlevel, to the point of having the picnic table very slanted and unusable. Nice playground and hiking trail. No pool, but in the kid's coral there is a splash pad (no replacement for a pool)and free bounce house. I was impressed with the array of amenities, but they tout free wi-fi but it never did get a signal, on 3 different devices. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We stayed here for the first time for an overnighter when the J&H RV Park across the highway had no pull-throughs available. The prior reviews describe the park fairly well: Lots of trees, family oriented, OK spacing between sites and a nice feel to the park. However, we drive a 45’ motorhome and we tow a Jeep Grand Cherokee. We realize we won’t fit in many parks, so we are very careful communicating our size and length when we reserve a spot. This KOA has only a few sites that actually accommodate us, and we didn’t get one of them. A slightly distracted lady led us to our site in her cart, but left us to fend for ourselves when we didn’t fit between the trees there. We tore off branches or bent them back to get in but in the meantime we were scratching our sides and blocking the main road for others. If you drive a rig like ours, make sure you can use one of the premium end sites close to the entrance and even then you might not get out unscathed. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This seems to be a little bit older park and so it is not necessarily friendly to the bigger rigs. They can fit but it's a little snug. It's clean and the sites are fairly level. There are tall beautiful pines everywhere. The KOA staff serves breakfast every morning for about 4 hours and you eat at picnic tables within the fenced "kitchen" area. It is a full breakfast including eggs, bacon, sausage, stacks of pancakes and so on. Really a nice park. We would stay here again, for sure. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Conveniently located and right next to national forest with walking trails which gave it a nice outdoors feel. We stayed in one of the Super Sites which was very nice. It had a great outdoor area with a table and chairs so it was nice to not have to drag our stuff out for an overnighter. We walked the entire property and it was pretty nice and fairly quiet, but I would not stay in one of the regular spots. They were not as spacious as the super sites and some looked pretty unlevel. As others have noted, access is tight for a big rig, but I have been in far worse campgrounds, and this one is worth a visit. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Beautiful setting against a mountain. No pool, and not all sites have cable TV. Wi-Fi worked great. The recreation pavilion looked a bit worn out. There were not enough washrooms for the number of campers using them. They are cleaned in the morning, but by evening, they could use another cleaning. We usually use dumping stations on our way out, but since we had the sewer service on-site, we decided to use it. Consequently, we left at 11:06 after putting our paraphernalia away, but they came by at 10:58 to ask if we were ready to leave. We felt they were a little overzealous. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We toured 5 other Flagstaff RV parks and this was the finest on many levels. The mature pines provided nice shade and a real camping feel, especially in the perimeter locations that were next to the Coconino National Forest. The location was within blocks of gas stations and easy access shopping. There was a lot of attention paid to the needs of the campers: a bin with leveling blocks you could borrow, necessary because most sites were not level; two large dog compounds - one for small and one for large dogs as well as trails to walk your dog outside of the compounds; many activity areas for children with well kept and expensive equipment including a shack that is staffed to sell treats and rent bicycles; DVD check out in the main office. The campground is the largest in Flagstaff affording nice long walks on the paved roads in between site areas or you can take hikes on their nature trail or into the adjoining forest trails. We also noted several teepees or cabins for rent and also premium sites that had new patio sets placed on paver block patios - very inviting! The office included a store with, not only a small selection of food staples, but also Arizona tourist items. The ever present campground workers kept the grounds well tended, sprucing up the flower beds and patrolling for camper issues. Clean restrooms and laundry facilities rounded out our ten day stay and ensured that we plan to return here year after year. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very nice and clean camp site. Very friendly staff and very helpful with local attraction information. Guided us to our camp site. Paved roads and gravel sites. Our was nice and level. Good Wi-Fi. Will stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Use caution if booking the back-in, water/electric, 30/20 amp, Wi-Fi sites and if you need 30 amp power. The site I was placed in had one 30 amp plug shared by four sites, and it was on the wrong side of the RV to be useful by this site. There was a closer 20 amp plug I was able to use, however. When I asked, they said they are "shared" outlets. They don't mention that on the reservations website. The water hookup was also not on the standard side of the RV, but fortunately I had a long hose. (This only seems to apply to these specific sites; the rest all have dedicated outlets for each site as you would expect. Otherwise, considering its age, the campground seems well maintained. There are lots of (seasonal) activities for the kids, including a splash pad, a bounce house, movies in the evening, bike rentals, etc. Wi-fi was intermittent at times, but worked most of the time. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Spent 1 week at this park in April. Very WOODSY. Sites were well marked, level, and clean. Did use showers, were cleaned daily. Extremely quiet at night. Some daytime traffic but hey, it's RV park. Kids loved the place. Will stay here again early fall. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Let me begin with the good. The park is very scenic and the cable was excellent. Now to the downside. VERY narrow paved but rough roads and gravel/dirt sites that are not even close to level. Low water pressure although the quality was good. Fair wifi. Office staffed by teens who gave me the feeling that I was imposing on them by wanting to check in. I had to back out of a pull through site due to large trees and proximity of other rigs. Nowhere close to being worth what I paid for the night. There are far better campgrounds up the road 30 miles in Williams. Wouldn't stay here again on a dare. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice park with paved roads and wide gravel sites. Lots of trees which made it feel like camping, but still got satellite. Nice trails leading from the park into the forest. Had a supersite with table, fire pit. Narrow roads but still got a big rig with tow vehicle around safely. Very nice office staff. Friendly people in the park. Had a good time and would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Rustic. Friendly front-office staff. Sites were not difficult nor the lanes too narrow for our 31-footer with towed car to maneuver around or get into, a difficulty some other campers have had. Best part? The best Wi-Fi service we've ever had. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a very, very nice KOA. The tall pine trees and mountain setting makes you feel like you are really camping! The managers and staff were extremely nice and helpful with area attractions. We would definitely stay here again and would plan on spending more time in the area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is an older KOA located on Rte 89 a couple of miles out of town. Its wooded and shaded well. Excellent dog walk and hiking trails accessible from the park. Paved roads but very narrow. Tight turns and small sites. Would not recommend for larger rigs. Some sites have 50 amps, some don't. Most sites will require quite a bit of leveling as the park is on a hillside. Staff was nice and helpful. Kind of pricy for an old KOA. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Roads are to narrow. Sites are too narrow. So narrow and tight I had to back in to a pull through site as the trees made the turn too tight. This is my third very unlevel site. Bring lots and lots of boards. I do agree it is nice once parked, but I will be looking for another park in Flagstaff after my stay at the Grand Canyon. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is type of campground that people are either going to love or hate. We LOVED it. It is located in tall pines and conveniently located to downtown Flagstaff. This may be the most ECO friendly park we have found but it still offers all of the amenities for our not so ECO friendly motorhome. The back of the property butts up to the Coconino National Forest and has access to a hiking trail up to Mt. Elden. There are wind turbines for electric generation and there is a walking ECO park with very informative interpretive signs. This park is so ECO friendly they do not sell bottled water because of the plastic bottles. The Wi-Fi is excellent. Our space was dirt but level and wide. Other reviewers have complained about too many trees, narrow roads and tight turns. While this is true, you only have to deal with these issues when you check in and leave. Out 34' motorhome and toad on a dolly had no problems. The rest of the stay is perfect. We camped here in a Motorhome.
All in all very well, except that site 139 (our site) gets water from site 140, meaning the hose is placed behind the car to the neighbours which is not convenient. Everything else is great, very friendly people always wishing to help when needed. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a nice KOA with lots of shade trees. Bathrooms were clean and they had a nice playground area. The store was well stocked. Overall, this campground was a good value with the price being lower than other KOAs. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Rude staff at check. I think the lady just normally has a bad day (all the time). That said, they were very accommodating for our needs. We decided to extend one day and the site was already reserved for someone else. They were very helpful in changing around several reservations to let is stay in the same spot, and apologized for the first lady. They have several laundry facilities that are kept up well. Good location for exploring the area. We will stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed here for a few days while visiting relatives in Flagstaff. This is a very old campground with some tight spots, so use care when maneuvering. We had a back-in E/W site in the older lower section. Due to the trees, it took two tries to back the trailer into the site, but that was no great problem. The campground staff were nice and helpful. There were multiple restrooms and showers, all very clean and well maintained. There were two laundry rooms. Traffic noise from the nearby highway was minimal. There is no TV reception. If you desire TV and do not have a dish, pay the extra fee for a site with cable TV. The campground is very well maintained. It is one of the best KOAs we have stayed at, and we would stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Park is definitely not for rigs of 40' or more. Navigation is difficult if not impossible in their pull through sites. You must unhook your toad and even then turns are very difficult. For a one night stay when you want to stay hooked up I would not recommend. For smaller units it is workable but still very tight spaces. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Lovely park is full of beautiful trees and small sites. Close to freeway. Sites are not paved. Staff doesn't seem to have any knowledge of big rigs, so be warned if your rig is 40' or more before pulling in. Always unhook in the waiting area. We watched the escort lead a large 5th wheel into a large pine tree. Even the most experienced drivers had problems with moving their units into and out of the smaller infield spaces while the larger sites housed the smaller units. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Management was very friendly, outside of that this is and old campground. Sites are narrow and short with large boulders and pine trees around and at edges of sites making it very hard to enter and exiting site even after unhooking. We could only use one of our slides as site was to narrow, forget about even using awning. Could only slide out bedroom slide about six inches because of trees. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is an older KOA park that was well ran. Didn't have cable TV or 50 amp at all sites. Quite a few permanent campers. The park is on a hillside and the sites are not very level but mostly shaded. Excellent dog run out the back gate into the Natl. forest. The paved roads were very narrow and the corners were difficult to navigate with a 42' MH. The staff was helpful and professional. Good location to access Flagstaff. All in all it was a good place for a few days. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a quiet, woodsy park with tight but workable sites. Probably deserves a higher number than I gave it except our voltage was marginal. Treat yourself and drive 3 miles south and eat at Black Bart's Steakhouse. Waiters put on a great singing show. Great night. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This park is dated with small spaces, uneven sites, narrow roads and somewhat overpriced. This was our second and, most probably, last stay here. There are, simply, nicer parks available in the same area. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a very nice park. If you are not comfortable moving in tight places with your big rig you may want to give it a thought or two. We had no problem with our 40' motor home, but there are lots of trees and tight places. We will stay here again for sure. The people who run it are great!! We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is an older KOA, packed in every which way, very tight even for our 24' trailer and truck, in a pull through. Extra $5.00 for cable TV an added insult to the already high fee. People in office were nice, the restrooms/showers were clean. No pool, but easy on-off I-40. Ok for overnight, but pricey. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Good park and great location to Grand Canyon. Has a nice staff. It was a bit bustling, but we would certainly stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I have stayed here in the past with a 25' 5th wheel and even though the rates were a bit high and the sites very tight, it has always been a good experience. This time I stayed in a 37' Bounder and selected a "Super" sight with the understanding it had all the amenities included. I went back and checked the online reservation and this is still my understanding when paying for a "Super" site. It wasn't until I was completely set up that I found I had the "only" "Super" site without a cable connection. I still paid the same amount as any other "Super" site and it was at least 6 inches off level from front to rear, it rained and my site became a lake with two streams running into the pool that was right in front of my door. It is a nice park, it has nice people managing it, but I will be going elsewhere from now on. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The staff was welcoming and helped guide us to our site. The park is very family friendly with a nice park. It is close to all the amenities. They offered delivery of breakfast to our trailer. I would definitely stay again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
It's a beautiful campground and the people are very friendly. Be careful if you have a big rig as the campground was built in the 1960's when rigs were smaller. It's very tight to get around in this park. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Very friendly at check in. Roads are narrow, the sites are close together. The site we are in is fairly level, but pretty narrow. Observed other sites that are somewhat wider and more level. Verizon air/cell signal is very good. Sites are dirt and gravel to in spots to level the site. My beef is the table is sitting on a small hill between sites and you are sitting uphill or downhill, which makes it a little awkward. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We have camped here several times and every time it's the same story. In theory, it should be a great campground, located in a heavily wooded area. In reality, it's a pretty sorry excuse for a campground. Big issues: it's a zoo with gazillions of sites. Tenters, motorcycle groups, and campers galore in tight sites with narrow roads. There are lots of traffic jams and noise. Second, many of the better sites are very out of level. We have had to borrow leveling blocks to get level. Even automatic levelers won't do it in some sites, and these are the "premium" ones!! I don't understand how KOA lets them get away with this. I've sent specific comments to KOA HQ, but never get a response. I come back occasionally to see if they have done anything, but it never changes. It is way overpriced for what you get. Avoid unless you must. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We paid $33 for water/electric. To add sewer was $41. Beautiful campground nestled in the trees. Feels more like a campground than RV park since there are tents, tepees and lots of space between sites. The roads inside the grounds are quite narrow due to overhanging and encroaching trees, although we didn't have a problem in the 30' fifth wheel. Very clean campground with weekend activities and a breakfast option every day at the KOA Breakfast Wagon. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Great place to base for day trips to Sedona (Oak Creek Canyon is a must!), Walnut Canyon, Sunset Crater, Wupatki National Monument and Grand Canyon. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This park was OK, nothing great, but not horrible. We stayed in site 18: one of their "super sites." This gives you more room a really nice patio, some nice patio furniture a nicer BBQ and a free standing fire pit. People were friendly and helpful, they seemed to have a lot of activities for families and kids. This place is very pet friendly, they have a nice little store, a few hiking trails right off the park, and I LOVED their "Eco Park". Really neat stuff. This park has a rustic feel with lots of trees and rocks etc. It makes you feel like you are up in the mountains a "campground" which my wife and I generally prefer. However, in this park's case (and I can't believe I'm saying this), this place needs to be leveled and rebuilt as more of a "city" RV park, rather then an campground with full hook ups (sort of). With literally, a mall across the street it seems a bit out of place and it makes the park seem junkier then it is. It looks like this place WAS a campground, converted to an RV and then reconfigured several times since then. We were in a good site, but walking around and looking at the other sites we saw some weird stuff going on. Oddly shaped sites, short sites, abandoned hookups in really ODD places,1 outlet box for an undetermined number of sites, sewer hookups on one site of the site, electrical hookups on the other water somewhere else. My wife and I were looking at some of these sites and wondering how you'd even use them. And under what circumstances these configurations were a good idea. The dump station(s) also seem to be a victim of a poorly executed reconfiguration of the campground. One dump is right in front of the store; right in the middle of the road. If someone were to stop and dump there traffic in the park would come to a standstill. The other dump is on the wrong side of the road. To use it, you need to do a u-turn and drive OFF the road or go out on to hwy 89, hit two stop lights and come back in the wrong way and park on the gravel. I'm glad we didn't have to use them. Like other people have said, the roads are tight. VERY tight, It's not really a problem though, you just need to take your time and be careful. This is a GREAT location and they have some GREAT ideas here. The super sites are great, the hiking trails are nice, the eco-park thing is cool, the rain barrels are great, the events and activities are nice, it's just not working here. This place would really be top notch if they leveled it, and gutted everything (leave the trees) and started from scratch. We'd stay here again, but only in 5 of the gazillion sites they have here. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Staff at this park are all nice people. The park was designed years ago but they are making a nice attempt at upgrades, and Flagstaff dearly needs that in an RV Park. Sites soft dirt which makes leveling a chore and the sites are almost all at certain inclines or "lean to" positions. The park is not big rig friendly so if you have a large Class A with a car or car dolly, driving in this park and getting out of spaces is hard. Location is very good, and again if you have less than 35' you may like this place, but if you have more be careful. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a very pretty park backed up to a hill with lots of pine trees and paved roads. Our site was not level but workers were re-graveling all of the sites. There was maintenance work being done constantly while we were here. This is one of the cleanest and nicely maintained parks we have been in. The staff was wonderful. The park is conveniently located to all nearby attractions and to downtown shopping and restaurants. We would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The RV sites are packed in fairly tight, the pads are basically level, and unless you pay for an executive site: which is spacious but very pricey, your view is your neighbors' RVs. Flagstaff isn't a huge city and the RV Park is located at the north eastern end. You would need a tow to do anything other than stay in the park. Pizza Hut does deliver to your site. The park is butted up to the Coconino National Forest, has a direct entrance into the forest, and has several hiking trails. It is a pet friendly park and rarely do you see a mess left behind by a pet owner. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed here one night on the way south. This is a surprisingly nice park on the outskirts of the city. Very quiet in the rear of the park, which backs up to national forest land. Very pet friendly, there are also 'gates' where you can walk into the forest lands. WiFi and cable TV was good, staff was friendly and helpful, reminded me to at least shut the water off and drain hose as temps were expected in low 20's. A bit overpriced, IMO. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This campground is set in the shadow of the San Francisco peaks and wooded. The staff was friendly. However, the sites were a bit tight and the price seemed a bit steep for the area. It is very convenient to a wide variety of shopping and an RV service operation. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We often travel through Flagstaff and have stayed at this campground 3 different times for just an evening each when passing through. It is a beautiful campground in a mountain setting. They have helpful staff and for an evening to have a BBQ, relax and hit the road again, you cannot ask for a better place. We will definitely stay here many more times when traveling through the area. It is easy to find. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed at the Flagstaff KOA for 4 months during the winter snow. The staff at the KOA is a great bunch of people, they checked on us regularly and plowed our vehicles out without prompting. They always kept the park plowed during and after snow storms. Our site was nice size and for the most part not so unlevel that we couldn't get level. I did see some sites very unlevel but we were here in the winter (less campers), I imagine after all the snow was gone they leveled them for the busy season. The bathroom/showers were cleaned daily and had heaters in them. The laundry could be improved so I went to a laundromat up the street but did use them occasionally. The Wi-Fi wasn't super fast but was reliable and constant. This was the second stay here for us and would recommend this site to anyone passing through Flagstaff. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This wasn't worth $47.50 for the night. It was very hard to maneuver your rig through the area. The road was narrow with lot's of trees and and large rocks. Site was not very level had to use more Lego's than usual. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
It is a beautiful setting with lots of trees. The roads are very narrow and a little tricky getting to your space. Once you get parked, you have access to Wi-Fi through out the campground. They have a small, well stocked store. Location is close to shopping. I would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Site was a couple inches out of level, but the biggest problem was that it was pull-through in theory only. Spots are tight and if someone is in the site directly in front of you, pull through is probably not possible in anything greater than 25 feet. Wi-Fi is free, strong, and fast. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Nice wooded park. Most sites level enough, but not perfect. Some leveling challenges here and there. Deluxe sites very nice with grass and patio. Wireless worked very well - even in the back. Cable was also clear. Helpful staff. Well landscaped. We would come again. We used it as a base for site-seeing. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The campground is fairly well-kept. Management was friendly. Sites are fairly level. All amenities were in good working condition. Not very much noise here at night. We would stay here again. Their prices are a little high, however the campground is almost always full. There is easy access gasoline and diesel right across the street from the campground. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Cost and the fact that the sites needed to be graded and leveled were the biggest negatives for this campground. The Wi-Fi signal was strong and it had good speed. There was plenty of shade, but we were still able to get a satellite signal without any trouble. The grounds were well maintained. The bathrooms and laundry were clean. We enjoyed our stay at this park. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is a great rustic campground with lots of trees, not a paved parking lot. The roads are asphalt, and the RV sites are gravel/dirt and need a bit of leveling. The park was quiet at night. The restrooms and showers were clean. The free Wifi worked fine. We were in a non-cable TV site, and could only receive one-English and two-Spanish digital antenna channels. They offer a ($) breakfast in the middle of the RV park, Thursday through Monday. There is a well stocked store and clean laundry room. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We enjoyed this campground very much. It is situated on a hill, has many trees and shade, and is framed by mountains. We stayed in the uppermost section and there was no road noise. There was an occasional train whistle in the distance which was quite nice to hear. Leveling was a little tricky due to the hilly area, but we managed OK. The staff offered additional blocks if we needed them. There was adequate space between the campsites, restrooms and showers were decent, and staff were friendly at check-in. We would definitely stay again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is the second time we stayed at this park. The sites are tight and narrow and many are not level. They have friendly staff, and the sites are well kept and clean. The breakfast was great and it is all in all a good park. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We stayed here 5 nights while visiting friends in town and some of the National Parks and Monuments in the area. Good location close to town. Staff were very friendly, and everything was clean. Kids loved the "banana bikes." Water pressure at campsites was low, but restrooms/showers were fine. Since the campsite is behind a mountain from downtown, there were no stations received on our TV antenna (we didn't have a cable TV site). Agree that the park is very tight for a 40 ft motorhome: we had a pull-through site, but had to back out due to vicinity of trees. We would stay here again: Flagstaff is a great city! We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed for one night while in transit. This park is very, very crowded and a bit tight for big rigs. It seems that some people have made this park a destination. I don't see why. Also, with a party of six, the price was very high. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Although the people at the campground were extremely friendly, I think this park is very overrated. It was expensive ($85 for two nights) and definitely not worth it. We camped with our family (2 adults and 3 children) and another family of the same. We chose this park because it had electric sites, and had activities for kids and families. The first immediate problem was that the spaces were so terribly close together that it was almost impossible to maneuver our camper into the spot. Thank goodness, when we arrived the people directly across had not checked in and we were able to pull into their spot in order to back into our spot. I noticed a few sign markers knocked over: apparently others didn't make it so well. The next issue was the electric box. There seemed to be one for at least two sites. We asked the camp host where we should plug in, he smiled and said "Well I guess since you are here first, you can have it!" The water spigot was nowhere near our site and our hose was stretched to the max (across our neighbor) in order to fill our tank. Next, was a flyer received upon check in, saying that you could not run a/c on 30 amp sites as this would cause breakers to trip. It is July in Arizona: it gets hot during the day! Why else would I need electricity? Sure enough, we lost power twice on the first day. People were checking out and asking for refunds: we stayed and dealt with it. As for the activities for family and kids: aside from the playground, you have to pay extra for everything. On Friday night was family movie night. We took the kids. They had ice cream for $3 and nachos for $2.50. Times 6 kids, was too much. We sat down to watch the movie and left after 15 minutes because it was so unbelievably hot in the "Korral" with no a/c or a single fan. On Saturday they had a spaghetti dinner for 7.95 a person. We skipped that, but opted to go listen to the "singer" at the campfire. They offered $2 smores, which were literally two smores. They rent "banana" bikes: at $5 per hour. Not bad, but I saw more than 3 children violently crash into other people's vehicles, causing damage to themselves and property. Not a great idea in such a crowded campground. Now the positives. The staff were friendly, except the tractor ride guy who clearly does not like children: actually, that become pretty comical. I liked the trees and getting away from the Phoenix heat. The playground was fun for the kids. They had clean showers and good coffee. I will not go back, I would not recommend it to a friend. It is not worth the money. Chalk it up as a lesson learned! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Very friendly staff, excellent location. You really have to be watching for the sign, which is partially hidden by the trees. Someone should trim the trees in the park; we now have newly acquired scratches on our motorhome thanks to KOA. Otherwise awesome place to camp. We will definitely go back. We would have rated them a 10 if not for the damage to our coach. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Stayed in this park back in 2005 and thought it to need freshening up. Well, someone else thought so too and this June stopped to only stay a night but the park is groomed, many neat setting areas through out with a work kamper staff that is fantastic. We stayed for several nights relaxing, found great little pizza place near college and the lovely smell of the pines with the cool nights was delightful. Hard to leave to the heat of the plains states and humidity of the southeast. Yes we will return even being a big pricey, but Flagstaff is a unique place everyone must visit. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I previously avoided this park when they charged for internet access, but internet access is now free, and works well. Check-in staff was very friendly, helpful, and quick. The only problem was that they were so quick that the people escorting campers to sites couldn't keep up, so there was a small delay in getting to camp. Even they were extra friendly, even taking the time to wipe off the faucet (and brag about their great tasting water). We camped here in a Motorhome.
Sites definitely not for big rigs. Talked with two other campers who had problems getting rig in. Both, like me, scraped trees with their rigs. We were all guided in by employees of the park and still had great problems. Easier getting out: thank goodness. If I were to return to this area, I would look for a different park that is more accessible with my size rig. Very close to traffic. You hear it quite a bit and trains all night. On a good note. Park is beautiful. Employees are very nice. Kids loved the playground. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This was/is a very, very, very nice campground. Yes the sites are a little tight, yes you are near the road and yes the roads are a bit much for a big rig. But like the last few posters have commented you are at the base of a mountain in a beautiful shaded pine forest. The staff is great, the store is great, the view is great. My kids really liked the playground, my wife liked the view and I was happy, everyone else was happy! It was nice to see lots of tenters mixed in with RVs. Everyone at the KOA seemed to be having a great time. The only thing this campground is missing is a pool! Also the Wi-Fi went out for a while in the morning. Overall it was great. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We camped here in a 40ft rig towing a 20 ft trailer and I have read the past reviews about it being narrow. Well it is narrow but it is in the mountains, and it is beautiful! If you know how to drive your rig it is not a problem. Yes, we had to use leveling jacks but it is on the side of a mountain. You can not have it all and what they have a ton of is beauty. I think this is the best KOA we have ever stayed at. The staff was extremely friendly, the managers were great, the kamp kitchen had an excellent made to order breakfast. They even had an events center that they served an all you can eat home made spaghetti dinner with salad and garlic bread that was to die for! They had free wi-fi that worked great, the cleanest bathrooms I have ever seen, the office was beautiful, the store was packed with items you couldn't find at a grocery store and I would stay here again anytime. There are 200 sites here and they are in row just like any other RV park. I am sure if they had less sites people would complain because they were sold out. I heard several people in the laundry room which was so clean talking about how great it was to be in a real campground and not a wal-mart RV park that was ugly. So learn how to drive your rigs people and quit complaining, nice campgrounds like this are becoming rare. We loved the tree's and the mountain and will put in the extra ten minute effort to enjoy nature. Flagstaff KOA should not be missed. If you want an overnight stay find a wal-mart so you can be lazy, but if you want to feel like your at summer camp with games and activities and food and a family atmosphere then go to the KOA and enjoy your vacation. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Your experience will depend on what site you get. We had a non-cable TV pull through site that was long, level and open enough for our satellite. Wi-Fi worked fine. The park has cut quite a few trees in the back pull-throughs to accommodate larger rigs, but the roads getting to the back are still crowded with trees. Overall we were very happy with the park. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Beautiful campground right next to national forest. You could look out of your site and see the mountains. All the sites are very shaded but very tight. If you own a large motorhome you will have difficulty driving through the park to get to your lot. Most of the sites are unlevel which require more work when you unhook. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Although many of the sites are well spaced, we ended up with a very narrow, non-level and dirty spot. There was not even enough room to sit outside comfortably. Fortunately it was only a quick overnight stop. They emphasize in their hand-out rules that this is a "35 year old campground, not an RV park" and this is very true, however you would never know this by reading the KOA directory. It is really not suitable for large RVs due to the narrow roads, trees and large boulders obstructing travel. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
The receptionist was very helpful and friendly. The maintenance staff loaned us an extra water hose. Restroom and showers were very clean. The campground was exceptionally clean; the sites were shaded; the pet area was clean with paths. We definitely would stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Beautiful park in a mountain setting. The park was quiet and beautifully landscaped. Staff were friendly and helpful. The Wi-Fi went down while we were here. Tengointernet operates the Wi-Fi, but it is free. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Beautiful setting, roads are a little narrow, but if you go slowly you will be fine. Very clean and well maintained. We would stay here again. The managers were very nice! We camped here in a Motorhome.
This park is in a very nice forested location. Although the park can handle big rigs, it seems a little tight getting around, and you have to watch out for trees. Our site was not level and it took all of our leveling blocks to level our rig. Very convenient to National Monuments in Flagstaff area. We stayed here two nights in off season and I would have to say that rate seems quite high. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This time of year (late February/early March), this was a great park as many sites were empty. It's in the tall pines and backs up to open land (we assume National Forest). Might get crowded mid-summer as sites are tight. We had no problem negotiating site with a 36 footer pulling a 15 ft toad. Would camp here again when driving through. We camped here in a Motorhome.
As with so many KOA's, the sites here are quite narrow so there isn't much privacy. However it is a very pretty campground with lots of pine trees, and it backs up to a Forest Service area where you can take a nice morning walk if you're so inclined. The campground is right off a very busy boulevard, but once you get up inside it's quiet enough. The folks who work in the office are nice both on the phone and in person. We will probably stay here again on our way east from California. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Although they claim to be big rig friendly, with the exception of a few sites, it is challenging to maneuver a 40 foot motorhome into the sites. We were "escorted" to our site by an employee who got out of the cart and stood there watching, and not warning us about a rock on the passenger side, which did major damage to a basement door. The rock on the driver's side was very evident. He then denied the fact that he was out of his cart and stated that I turned too sharply. The sites are very narrow, the roads are narrow, and there are trees which hamper the extension of slides as well as entry and exit from your site. This is a corporate KOA, and I can't believe that they are so willing to continue to keep known hazards such as the rocks in their campground, and not warn those driving larger motorhomes of the tight nature of their campground. Even without the damage, we will not return to this campground. There are others in town, and we rejected them based on prior experience, but they now look better than this campground. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We have stayed in a number of koas & this one was by far the worst. The clerk at the counter was completely disinterested in working & kept talking to some of the other workers. We should have left right then. The site was uneven & took a lot of effort to get close to level. Lots of trees & tight turns. Next time I will just keep driving. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is a very family and pet friendly campground. Nice amenities and the staff was pleasant and very helpful. However, the pull-through site we were assigned had dozens of ant hills, so we could not really enjoy sitting outside. Upon leaving, we had a difficult time getting out because of the small access roads and location of trees. We have a 30ft fifth wheel and had to wait for the camper behind us to leave so we could back up into their site to leave. Could not pull through because of the proximity of the other fifth wheels and motorhomes across from our site. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Flagstaff is a tough town to get a room no matter where you stay. If you don't call by about 6pm, you will be out of luck for hotels or campsites. For this reason I think this campgrounds figures you can take it or leave it, because they will be full every night. The drive in, after dark, to our campsite, we were "escorted" by an employee in a golf cart. They drove through the site, stopped and waited for us to negotiate our way between the table and another camper in the next site. There was about 3 inches clearance. When we stopped we were at a downhill angle banked to the right. Being the middle of the night in the dark we slept "off-kilter" and left the next day. If we can avoid Flagstaff in the future we will, otherwise the Walmart lot looks inviting. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Unable to level 40 rig in uneven site. Very tight access roads and sites. Not really suitable for big rigs. Friendly staff. Noisy party next door no fault of the park. We stay in a lot of KOA's and this was not a good example for us. In their defense, we did see a lot of younger people in small RVs - more suited to the small size. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The biggest drawback here are the access roads: narrow with lots of trees. It is manageable with a big rig, but you have to be careful. Like so many parks, it was designed and laid out when camping rigs were smaller and changes have not been made to accommodate larger motor homes with slide-outs. All-in-all, a nice park with good facitilties and a pleasant staff. Lots of trees so sat reception is possible but not guaranteed. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
An older, but very well maintained park. Roads are narrow and windy, but was not a problem for us (our trailer is 34ft). The cable TV was clear, and the wi-fi signal was strong in the back of the park. Free wi-fi was a big plus. Nestled amongst pondrosa pine trees made for very cool camping. I enjoyed hearing the wind go through the pines and aspens, very relaxing. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. A very nice place to stay, and will do so again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
The location for this campground is nice, set amongst the Ponderosa pines. It's close to Flagstaff Mall and a Safeway grocery store, but is surprisingly quiet given its proximity to busy Route 89. The roads are paved, but somewhat narrow and windy (not a problem for us towing a popup, but could be a problem for someone in a big rig). Staff was friendly, Wi-Fi connection was good, and proximity to the dozens of sights in the Flagstaff area is good. We'd stay there again. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
It's a KOA. What can I say? Small sites, packed together and very crowded. It's hard to negotiate the roads due to trees and large rocks (rocks oddly placed by staff to define sites). I hit one on the way in trying to turn into my site. On a positive note, the owners have tried to free up a little green space, with flowers and lawn-based sitting areas here-and-there. This is nice. The staff is friendly and helpful and they have a good camp store. There is some train and freeway noise, but it's not unbearable. Restrooms are clean. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Nice park; great to camp among tall pines again after a month in the high desert/great plains. Staff was friendly and helpful on check-in, terraced site was level, the back bathhouse is modern and very clean with tiled floors/walls and showers. The CATV, if anything, is too good with so many channels you can spend all night surfing without settling down with any particular programmer. The only things precluding a higher rating was the lack of a pool and the slow WI-FI (Tengo) which took me back to the old dial-up days. Can't comment on the lack of maneuvering space as we drive a 20-ft B. Would certainly return if in the area again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The staff was very friendly and accommodating when we checked in early, before check-out time. They gave us a choice of several large sites in the back two rows that would accommodate our rig with three slides and tow. Wi-Fi was excellent, cable TV did cost an additional $3 but with all the trees it was worth not messing with the satellite dish. The sites were all sloped uphill as it is on the edge of a mountain but our jacks accommodated the incline well. We would return as the location was excellent for our travels. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is an old park with lots of trees. It is very hard to drive through, and we saw several trees that had been hit so you had better go slow. We saw one camper who had to have lots of help getting into his site. Sites are rocky with too many trees for satellite TV service. We probably would not camp here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Have stayed here a few times. It is true that the park roads are narrow. The park is well treed and said trees bear the marks of many a camper either too big or in too big a hurry to get around the park. We were in a 35' motorhome and had no problems at 5mph. We had the full hookup/pull through and had no problems with any of the services. WiFi ok, plenty of cable channels. My only problem with the sites was they were on an incline. The whole park is in the foothills of Mt. Elden, so the whole park goes uphill. Nice hiking trails though. My only problems were with the clientele. I don't begrudge anybody who has toys (bikes, trikes, atvs). I got 'em too. But in such a narrow setting it makes navigating a big problem. I don't begrudge anybody who has dogs. I got 'em too. But I don't need to listen to them bark at 6am. I can stay home for that. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very narrow roads! Entry and exit into the park is by the same road and only one vehicle fits at a time. We were in a line of vehicles to check in. Went inside to check in and came out to see my husband fit to be tied as a tourist in a rental tried to squeeze through (the obviously too small space) and ran into the side of our 5th wheel. Not the campgrounds fault - except that their road is too narrow and they need a separate exit road! Roads to sites are narrow with lots of trees (many people scraped down them), but it can be done if you go slow and pay attention. Park atmosphere is nice, you're in among the pines and at the base of Mt Elden with immediate access to great trails. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
The woman at the registration desk was very rude. The sites were small. We had a pull through site that was not long enough accommodate our 23' trailer and pick-up. Had to park the pick-up in an un-used site next to us. Couldn't use our a/c with 30 amp power. The roadways were very narrow and bordered by trees. I wouldn't attempt to get into this park with a larger rig. I don't think it was worth the price and we won't stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We have decided not to stay here again. The office staff is nice and helpful but the campground itself is 40 years old. The oldest sites are suitable only for small rigs and pop-ups. There are some older sites that would work for big rigs but they are reserved well ahead of time. These are the 50 amp sites with cable. Seems you can reserve particular sites here so it's hard to get a 50 amp site for more than one night at a time. The back row will accommodate bigger rigs but there is only 30 amp service and they tell you not to use the A/C but you can run your generator until 10PM if you like. If you are away from the office the wi-fi is iffy. The 30 amp sites are narrow; on one site we could not put out one slide, on another site we tried the awning couldn't go out because of a tree. Our motorhome has scratches from the tree limbs rubbing on the side. It took three people to help me back into our last site because of the trees and rocks. We saw more than a few big rigs come in and then leave because they couldn't get into a site. Electricity on 30 amp sites went out on us about five time because of the overload somewhere in the row. During one night it went off and our refrigerator defrosted by morning. For the price, it's not worth the hassle. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is the worst KOA we've ever stayed at. The people who own the park are obviously not investing any more money in it. The park is run down, there is NO pool, the sites are crammed, the bathrooms are stinky and the owners are so cheap they won't even buy toilet seat covers, and worst of all, if you are in a 30 amp site, you are not allowed to run your AC on their electricity. It's 103 today, and we got a knock on our door telling us to shut the AC off. "The park is so old it can't handle it" the clerk told us. Then we were told to use our generator if we wanted AC. This park is the biggest rip off EVER, and if we weren't desperate for a place to stay in the area, we would move on immediately. Avoid this place at all costs. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
A typical KOA, meaning clean restroom/showers and no real surprises. This is much more a family camping destination than most KOA's along the interstates. Place was packed and staff woman was short and frazzled at check in. I probably would have been too. Wife stayed here 40 years ago with parents, said it looked just like she remember then. Little signed nature trail a nice touch for kids. Our site had no cable. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Rude people at the front desk. Wouldn't even move to explain something about washing machines. Although the campsite wasn't even half full, they put us at a bad site facing a wall. Would never visit this site again and also don't recommend it. You'd better park at a parking lot, looks almost the same and people are nicer to you. This site almost made me decide to never visit a KOA again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We enjoyed it. It is tight but we had no problem in a 35 MH and there were rigs bigger than ours. Beautiful setting in the woods on the side of a mountain. We had no trouble leveling and didn't see anyone else with a problem. Wi-Fi is not free. Cable is not on all sites. Staff very friendly. We'd come back if we pass this way again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Overall a nice park. We stay there a few times every year to escape the Phoenix heat. I have never had a problem with any staff. There have been some minor improvements over the years. It is definitely in the woods, and would be difficult for a large rig. Some sites have cable, some do not. The shower facilities are clean and functional. If it had a pool and a few other amenities it could be a 10. It is just a nice quiet place in the woods. There are some permanent residents that have never been a problem while we were there. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Front desk personal were rude. Too lazy to deal with my situation for a long site as I was pulling a trailer. The person I worked with when arriving said I would have to move to a different site for my second day. When I came back the next morning I talked with another person who had no problem allowing me to stay in the same site, but she wasn't very nice about it. Way too many trees for any large RV, the longer sites are not level. In order to level my 34' Motorhome my front bumber was an inch from the ground while my rear tires were off the ground. They only had a few sites with Cable TV and charged an extra $3.00/Day for it. We camped here in a Motorhome.
They put us in the most unlevel site I've ever seen. While there were other sites available, they wouldn't let us move to another site. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This park looks pretty good from the raod, but once inside, it is appearant that it is getting old and the owners are not putting much $$ into it. The sites were tight for our 27' trailer, I don't know how some of the bigger rigs get in here. Most of the sites appeared to be far from level, and many had hookups on the opposite side from the correct side. It is in a nice location and there are plenty of shade trees. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Overall I enjoyed this park and would stay there again. That said, there are some issues:
1. Campsites have strange layouts with utilities sometime s on the wrong side or on *both* sides. 2. There are very few pull-through sites, so if this is important to you, call ahead. 3. Few level sites. Managment was very good to us and even assisted us in trying to resolve a minor catastrophe with our rig. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Very limited big rig sites, due to all of the mature trees. We were there in a very heavy snow and had a difficuly time getting into the seasonal spots open for winter. Office appeared to be closed for the season, just had a slot to deposit the nightly fee. I am sure that in warmer weather it would be a more user friendly spot. It was the only open park in Flagstaff in January when we were there. Would go again, only if we had to stop for weather again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Some of the sites can take big rigs, but getting to them can be difficult. Also hard to find a level site. We camped here in a camper.
It is simple camping, good for us for two nights. The hosts were very helpful, it rained both days we camped, but their in their monsoon season. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This was a wonderful surprise as I had read no reviews and we just decided to chance it after reading a AAA listing. Beautiful park for dry camping. I think they have some hookups but the nicest sites that are further back with more privacy and greenery were dry. AWESOME running/bike/dog walking path that goes from the campground to downtown Flagstaff. Gorgeous path! We would definitely stay here again. It is very close to Flag, just a few minutes. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Great rustic campground, with nice pines and lots of places to walk. The camp hosts were very nice both times we were here, Oct 08 and Sept 09. We stayed at the last weekend of the year in order to attend the Flagstaff Science Week both years. There are sites with just water and sites with water and sewer, but no electric on any. You can run generators, but it's great that most people didn't when we were here. The quiet is awesome! There is also nice little museum right by the campground as there used to be an active base here. This campground is located just south of Flag, west of I-17, with the airport to the east. Great location, easy to buzz into town, but quiet and remote for relaxing. It's a little tight for bigger rigs, but the camp hosts were helpful in situating us. We have a 35foot Class A with one slide out. There was a Boy Scout Camp out going on in the campground this year and there was plenty of room and the noise was nicely muffled by the pines. Just a hint of reveille here and there. This campground is part of a larger facility: it's about 400 acres, but part is military and part is public. I don't know where the other person stayed in Cabins - I think she's referring to the Air Force Recreation Side, but that is only available to DOD personnel. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is the Luke AFB recreation area in Flagstaff. It is located in the Fort Tuthill Regional Park complex. The RV and tent campsites are only open during Summer (May-Sep.). We stayed there for one night on our way home. The RV sites are in a beautiful stand of ponderosa pine. The sites are closely spaced but not too cramped. Access is good, even for big rigs. We were in a back-in site and had no problems. The restrooms and shower areas are very clean. They do have very clean laundry facilities, but we didn't use them. There is a dump station available. The electric service is 20 or 30 amp depending on your site. They have 14 day stay limitation. We only made a one night reservation, but after we arrived, we wanted to stay longer. There was no available sites so we continued home. We will definitely be staying there again when we visit the Flagstaff area for an extended stay. There are also A-frame and regular cabins, yurts and a small hotel at the rec area. The campground is very quiet, not close to any major roads for noise. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Spent one night here because the National Forest Campgrounds weren't open yet. It was okay for one night, but probably wouldn't stay here again. The sites were very crowded and we could barely open our door due to a fence. Lots of permanent residents. We didn't like the feel of this park. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This park was right in the center of all the places we wanted to see, like the Grand Canyon, Meteor Creator, Sidonia, etc. The acting manager was the great and he helped us and gave us a lot of good local information as where to eat and places to see. The park was all gravel and we needed to use boards to level the camper. There are some long term permanent residence sites. Internet was a problem on the site unless you went to the office area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Very basic campground with few amenities. Our pull through site was narrow but adequate for us. Very friendly and helpful owner. Free wi-fi was fast and robust. Good location to see area sights. Extra charge for use of electric heaters and air conditioner. Use of coach washing machine forbidden as park is on a septic system. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice, long pull through sites that are easy to get into. Wi-Fi is spotty and kept disconnecting. Cell service (AT&T) is good, and able to set up TV dish. Close to the mall, Sunset Crater, Wupatki, and downtown Flagstaff. Less expensive than other parks in the area, and quite adequate. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Each site provides only a gravel pad and a picnic table. The Wi-Fi was good, TV reception acceptable. The picnic table is unusable as it is pushed up against the separating fence to provide room for the RV. Spaces are tight. Our coach spanned boundary to boundary with the slides out and the awning extended. The traffic noise from the 89 is at best annoying. If you are having trouble sleeping, it will keep you up. There is no accommodation for late check-in as they escort you to you site. Logistically, that is necessary as the park is poorly laid out and it's difficult to pick out your spot. There are many permanent residents and their spaces are not well maintained and neither is the park, poor roads and many weeds. The office staff is very friendly. We chose this park based on reviews and a view from Google Earth based on a name search. The view was actually of J & H down the road. There is no dog area, but there is a trail through the forest our dog enjoyed. We would not stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I love this place. I stay here every time I am in Flagstaff. An older campground set in the pine trees. Friendly staff and sites are level. It it had cable TV, I would give it a 10. Can get several TV stations including ABC, NBC, CBS on an antenna and I did even have to raise the antenna. There are some trails in the back in the wilderness for hiking. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
I stayed at the nearby KOA previously and this park is: a) easier to maneuver in; b) has sites that are closer to level; and c) is less expensive. The sites are paved and some are a bit close together with side by side hookups, but they at least have a short fence between them. There are a fair amount of nice shade trees in the park, but overall there is more pavement than grass. If you look at the park as the destination and not just a base camp for attractions in the area, you might look for a so-called resort park instead. This park is close to the road, so sites up towards the front might get a bit of road noise. Bring your checkbook or ATM card as they don't accept credit cards. I enjoyed my stay here and would probably pick this park again for a stay in Flagstaff. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Nice older park set in tall pines. Paved roads, gravel sites. Nice and level. Very friendly and helpful. Wi-Fi yes, but not very strong. Had nice trail in back of park going up into the forest, very nice walk. Will stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Shady spots amongst the pines. Sites are dirt, but we were able to deploy the lift for my wife's wheelchair. However, it was difficult for the wheelchair to get traction. We had a pull through site for our 37' trailer. Behind the park is a series of trails that meander through the pines. This alone is worth the cost of admission if you enjoy hiking or biking. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
I stayed here for a few months and really like this park. The manager was always very helpful, friendly, and easy to talk with. The nightly rate is based on the monthly rate. This is a quiet park. There is noise from HWY 89, but that is about it. The laundry facility was always clean and in good working order. Good hiking trails accessible at the back of the park. Close to the Flagstaff mall, Safeway, etc. Would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a basic campground on US89 on the northwest side of Flag. We had site 17 which was plenty long enough for our 40'er and car. It was a little narrow. We couldn't put the provided picnic table next to our coach. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We stayed 2 nights to look around Flagstaff. All sites are in the ponderosa pines which makes it very "campground" like instead of RV park. Noise from busy US89 was not too distracting. I could get only one English speaking TV channel and about 4 Spanish channels. I only gave it a 6 because it is very basic. I would stay here again when visiting Flagstaff. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice campground in the pines. Great verizon coverage. Level, mostly pea gravel sites. Only stayed one night, but would return. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is one of the few campgrounds in Flagstaff and is on the east side of town. There are mostly permanent residents here, but there are plenty of spots for travelers. We are in a spot vacated by someone who had lived here for 6 months and we have flowers and a nice bench at our site. There is a picnic table at each spot, but no grill. The park is very shady. There are no showers and bathrooms. There is free Wi-Fi. We especially enjoyed the trails out of the park into the forest land behind it. You can walk out and immediately be in a piney woods forest. We would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice older park. The layout is different that most places. Manager is a nice guy and very helpful. Stayed here last year and will again when in Flagstaff. Wi-Fi worked fine. We had a pull though site and was mostly level. It took only one 2" board under one wheel to make it level We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Good value for a short stay. Host is very accommodating. We stayed on a pull through site. This park has no showers or toilets, and several permanent sites but kept up well. Will stay again when in Flagstaff. Price with Good Sam. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This park is set up for only self-contained RV's, so they do not have bathrooms or showers. It's fairly easy to find and easy to maneuver in. Roads/sites gravel and fairly level. Just a bare basics park, no grass, not a lot of privacy and lots of "permanent", but it's kept clean and the manager is very pleasant. The 5th wheel that came in next to us (when we were gone) parked backwards, so we felt like they were "in our space" because our doors were facing each other. The weather was cold and windy so we didn't spend much time outside, but if we did, we really would have felt encroached upon by the 5th wheel next door - I don't know why they allowed him to park that way, didn't seem right. There is just a 2 foot high white wooden one board fence between sites, no bushes or anything. Location was convenient, not too far out of town. Cash or check only, no cards. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Greer's is an older park, but it is a friendly and well kept. The manager is friendly and very accommodating. This is our second time at the park and we will definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Very nicely laid out park. The manager is very friendly and helpful. Very good location. Ninety minutes from the Grand Canyon, and about an hour from Sedona. Walking distance from several shops, and about a mile from a mall. Several trees make parking a big rig interesting, but there's plenty of room. (We chose a back-in, even though pull-throughs were available.) We'll be back! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is an older park with lots of long term/seasonal residents, but it is well maintained. The staff is friendly and very helpful. We were escorted to our site. There are lots of big pine trees in the campground, so satellite reception might be a problem. There is no cable TV and we could pick up only a few on-air channels. The campground is quiet at night with no road noise at our campsite. It was very windy when we were here, but the pines kept the wind down to almost nothing in the campground. The campground does not accept credit cards. The park advertises itself as an adult community, so they probably cater mainly to retirees like us. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice park nestled among the pines. Very little road noise from the four lane highway running beside the park. It appears that most of the sites are taken by long term rigs (some actively being lived in, some parked as weekend get-a-ways). Park layout is confusing but the park attendants will guide you to your spot. Hookups worked well, even when the temperature dropped below freezing for a couple of nights. Just a short drive to downtown Flagstaff and many nice restaurants. Just down the street from the park is a new shopping center with supermarkets, etc. There are no restrooms or showers in the park. We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
I've stayed at this park three times over the past couple of years and I'll rate it a tad higher this time because they've added Wi-Fi throughout the park since my last stay. At check-in, I was cautioned that it may not work well at my site, and it's true the signal was weak, but it got the job done. The park is in a terrific setting, surrounded by forest and backed up against the mountains. And I like how the layout isn't the typical rows-and-columns. The streets are mostly paved, but they're narrow and winding and some of the sites might take extra concentration to get into (two fellows from the office helped me back in between the trees, which was much appreciated). Those are the same trees that provide soothing afternoon shade, I might add. There's a laundry, the machines in which have frankly seen better days, but no bathrooms/showers or clubhouse. This end of Flagstaff is pretty much free from train noise, but there's some traffic noise from the highway. The park entrance is a little easy to miss, so watch carefully for it. The park is very popular in the summer, so reservations are a good idea then. Cash or check only. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Camp ground with lots of trees. Its not laid out like any other RV park that I have seen. Plenty of room. Very friendly and helpful host. Some spots may be a little tricky to get into but the host will help you. Lots of long timers here. I was told you have to commit to four months to get a monthly rate. We had the spot by the laundry which was tricky to get into but with the help of the host it was no problem. I would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This campground has two big things going for it. I have never seen such helpful owners/employees. They are truly angels. Secondly, if you like to hike or walk your dog, the National Forest trails are just outside the backgate of the campground. Greer's is my dogs absolute favorite campground. He loves the easy beckoning trails. We have camped at Greers twice and would stay here again. They also store RV's. The weather was too cold for us to continue to Grand Canyon so we stored our TT for 3 weeks and then continued to Grand Canyon. We needed some minor repairs and the campground hosts opened the storage area and our trailer for the mobile repairman. If you are into KOA and other chain campgrounds, Greer's probably is not for you, but if you love to walk/hike and want personal attention try it. There is a restaurant across the street. The Mall is nearby with a McDonalds, Safeway and Sears. You will need reservations for this park. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
The park is in the pines. A lot of full time residents. Its clean. No showers. We only stayed one night because the night before was a Snow Storm and the night we were there it got below freezing. Be a great place to stay in summer for a couple nights just to see all the sights around Flagstaff. We recommend Walnut Canyon, Sunset Crater and Wapataki ruins. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Staff at check-in friendly and very helpful with things to see and do in the area. Campground is older, with all gravel, roads and sites. Sites are quite close together, many long term residents but their sites were well maintained. Good WiFi ($2/day), there is an extra charge for electric heaters or air conditioners ($2/day). No washrooms or cable TV. Good for a short stay. Adult oriented. GS rate $28.25. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We stayed at Greer's for two nights on our way out of the Grand Canyon. It was convenient to a new Camping World in Bellemont where we had some repair work done. It is also very convenient to the Flagstaff Mall where we wanted to do some shopping. We did not have reservations, but were able to get in without any problem. We arrived mid-day. It would be best to make reservations since it seem to get quite busy later in the day. The gentleman at the front desk was quite polite and helpful. We wanted a site where we could get satellite television which is not easy because of all of the tall pine trees. He drove us around in his cart so that we could use our compass to find a "TV friendly site." We were successful in finding a nice level site which worked well for us. In our site there was very little road noise. It was very quiet and peaceful. Even though it looked like most of the sites were filled with long term residents, most of them were not present during October. There would probably be a lot more traffic during the summer. We used the laundry and it was fine. We never use the pool, showers, and other amenities offered by other campgrounds, so their lack was not a problem. It was perfect for our two night stay. We would stay there again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I gave this park a 6 rating, and I'm not sure I'd rate anything in Flagstaff higher, which is a shame considering how popular the town is in the summer. Reservations are critical. I didn't have one and was lucky to get a site. A previous reviewer indicated there's no laundry, but there is. They just didn't point it out when I checked in. When I asked, they showed me. There's also a bathroom in the laundry, but no shower. No Wi-Fi, but the little coffee shop next door has it. The traffic noise from the highway was tolerable for short stays, I guess, but for my taste was excessive for a longer stay. There are no other activities or amenities that I was aware of. The Park manager was nice and friendly, but wasn't available all the time. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Low mark because this this campground has few facilities, no washrooms, no laundry, no internet, no cable, and not cheap. They also charge extra if you want to use AC or electric heat. The park has mostly seasonal residents. The KOA just down the road is a little nicer. On the plus side, the host was friendly and gave some good sightseeing advice, and there is access to trails from the park. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The manager here is quite friendly and helpful. He even has a card posted on the door of the office with a note stating his phone number and to contact him if he is needed after office hours. The park has many Ponderosa pines providing shade, and does have 50 amp service available. However, there are some negatives. Our site was roomy but very uneven. Sites are confusingly and somewhat haphazardly arranged. Sites and roads are a mixture of gravel and dirt, which would be sure to be muddy in wet weather. Cable TV and Wi-Fi are not available, although there is a coffee shop next door that does have Wi-Fi. Sadly, the scenic value of the pines is almost nullified by the overwhelming number of dilapidated trailers and motorhomes, apparently belonging to dozens of full time or part time residents of the park. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We spent two nights here and found it to be pleasant, well maintained and very quiet. The Manager was very helpful. He found us a long pull-through site to accommodate our 40' motorhome along with our 20' car trailer. He also arranged to have our propane tank filled, since the delivery was scheduled for a day we were here. The roads are paved and quite narrow, but we were able to drive the big rig and trailer to and from our site with no problems. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This park is clearly designed for longer-term summer residents (as evidenced by rules about planting of flower gardens and installation of carports and storage units, not to mention the fact that "children are welcome to visit for one week at a time"). This is one of the tightest spaces we have occupied, and the park itself is rather claustrophobic. Our pull-through site was not quite level, and very difficult to enter due to the very odd layout of sites in the park. There are no restrooms, no showers, and we did not use the laundry. There is no cable TV and only a few OTA stations (satellite access will be tricky due to the large number of tall pine trees in the park). Wi-Fi is available for a $1/day fee, although management explained that the signal from the nearby coffee house is accessible from the laundry room. Our Verizon cell and broadband service worked well in this park. When asked if we planned to use air conditioning, we were charged an additional $2/day for the increased electricity usage. We camped 1 night with no pets. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Park is for seniors, so no kids running around. A lot of people from PHX spend summers here and we met some very nice folks. Great walking trails on National lands at the rear of park. The park ranges from 6960 to 7000 ft. in elevation, but the sites were level-all gravel. Verizon service is great here. Lots of nice restaurants in nearby Flagstaff and remnants of the old Hwy. 66 era. Would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We loved this park. The people were wonderful and the setting in the trees was beautiful. We stayed here in a fifth wheel and it was easy to get in and out. You can take a walk right behind the park on national forest land. It's close to Sunset Crater Volcanic Monument and Walnut Canyon National Monument. We will stay here when ever we go through Flagstaff. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is an RV park that is occupied mostly by monthly renters that are not present. I suspect that people from Phoenix put their trailer there, pay monthly rent, and come up on the weekends. Lots of big trees so if satellite TV is important (it wasn't for us) call ahead to see of they have a suitable spot for you. It's an adult oriented park, with nothing for kids to do. No bathrooms. Staff was very friendly! Our site was a pull through. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We second the previous review about this being a basic campground. We had a nice, shaded, level, gravel spot, which we backed into, with 50 amp, water and sewer. That's all. Other than a laundry and card room there isn't much here. The campground was full. Manger tells me that people from "the valley", meaning Phoenix, park their RV's here all summer and commute up to get out of the heat as the elevation here is almost 7000 feet. The sign in front says it is an "adult oriented" park - meaning no kids. If you just want a place to hook up for the night, this park is just fine. The park is not well marked so look closely - it is just south of a Shell station. GPS Info: 7101 N. Hwy 89, Flagstaff. Lat/Lon N 35d 14.479m, W 111d 34.225m. Google Earth shows N 35d 14m 28.48s, W 111d 34m 10.90s We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed here for three nights. The park seems oriented toward long term guests. There are no community showers or restrooms. Very clean and orderly. The hookups looked almost new. Easy access and good location to the city. This is a good place to park your RV, but not really a campground. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This park is a basic RV park. There are no public restrooms or showers. There is a small laundry with 4 washers and 4 dryers. There is no swimming pool. The sites are well-tended and quite large. I believe it is an adult park. We stayed at the park in 2006 for about 3 weeks and enjoyed it very much. They have potlucks, ice cream socials, lunch/dinner outings, card nights and crafting. Owners of the park do not reside there and the managing staff (one or two), very friendly and helpful. There is no restaurant in the park. The park is conveniently located to the large Flagstaff Mall (less than a mile away), together with major grocery stores, restaurants, an RV Repair/Parts Center located at the end of Flagstaff Mall, golf courses and not far from the famous Route 66 area. If you want a basic RV park with reasonable rates, check out Greer's. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Camped here while seeing the area around Flagstaff. Found the park to be quiet, clean, wide spaces. An owner who cares about his guests. Park pamphlet is the best I have seen. When checking in the owner gave us some great info on nearby places to visit. Would come here again We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
I would have given this park a 9 or 10 but it is very expensive and there is no pool and no hot tub. I asked to be parked away form everyone and they promptly parked people on both sides, front, and back. The sites are level and fairly wide. Great hiking in the area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We stayed here on a Saturday in mid-October and had a FHU, back-in site, with 70+ channel cable TV, and Wi-Fi. Like some others have mentioned, we had trouble with the cable TV on one of our sets due to the switch to digital has caused. Because of all the trees, not many sites are satellite friendly. We were given one as requested. The Wi-Fi was OK. There are a lot of seasonal and extended stay customers. Sites varied in size. Some of the back-ins seemed wider than the pull-throughs. While I agree that the park is attractive and clean, the atmosphere in the park was unsettling. I don't know if it was just the "adult orientation" or some of the "rules" signs around the park. One in the men's room said there was a reward for reporting anyone blowing their nose in the shower. It seems the cleaning personnel complained of having to clean nasal excretions from the shower walls. Just a bit too much big brother sanitation and homogenization for my tastes. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Excellent RV park. Sites were wide and level and many pull throughs. Large, mature shade trees and easy to navigate with a large motorhome. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Wonderful pet walk area and even a dog wash! Owners evidently take great pride in the park as it is clean and very well maintained. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We liked this pretty park with lots of trees. The owners show pride of ownership in that they keep the park spotlessly clean and maintained. The roads are gravel and the sites have small red rock. The sites are spacious, have nice picnic tables and lots of room for extra tow car. All of the amenities are very nice. The cable was weird and we have a new HD TV set but it was doable. Wi-Fi was excellent. We would stay again if in the area and prefer this park over others nearby. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Friendly owners who maintain their small park very well. Well stocked supply store. Showers and restrooms as clean as any we have seen. There is a dog washing area and an off-leash run. Free coffee every morning. Plenty of videos to rent and a nice common room with TV and sofas. About 10 minutes from downtown Flagstaff and close to hiking and biking trails. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The site is about 6 miles north of town so look for the sign; it's easy to miss. Friendly staff. The sites are all gravel and fairly level. Pet friendly. Quiet. The cable hook up is only HD so if you have an older TV it will not work. We went to Sam's Club and purchased a new digital TV. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a very nice park. It is clean and well landscaped. Spaces aren't large, but they are adequate and we didn't feel like we were scrunched right next to the neighbor. Management provided us newbies with help on backing into the site. There was a nice sports court, patio, videos, and some pleasant little extras. The pet area is unusual, but workable. It could use a little landscaping work. We camped here in a Motorhome.
No kids, so it's quiet. It's landscaped and tidy and clean, and very pretty. We liked the other residents. Some are long term and some are repeat visitors. The owners are so nice and helpful that they get a lot of repeat business. Watch for the sign, it's easy to miss on the highway. They have the best dog run I've ever seen, 300' long by 30' wide, with a variety of plants, trees and topography that makes it interesting and fun for the dogs. Lots of pull throughs. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This was an interesting park. The owners checked us in and they were efficient but not particularly friendly. However, we received a thank you note on the date of our departure. They have a lot of rules which didn't bother us. The WI-Fi and cable were fine. The park was red gravel which was a little messy since it rained every afternoon we were there. The campground is small but neat. There are a lot of dogs and some barking. They allow dog pens on the sites. They have a lot of campers who come from Phoenix for the summer. It is in a quiet neighborhood and is very quiet at night. We paid $44 per night including taxes. We would consider staying here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This price reflects weekly rate. Our stay started out pretty shaky. We had four large rigs traveling together. We all pulled in at once. No where for all of us to go: without blocking the entrance. Really shook up the owner. She sent us quickly to our sites. Then went back to finish checking in. This park will be trying to go smoke free starting 2013. They tried giving us a smoking area. Did not work out with the rainy weather. Our party smoked where it was convenient. They did set us up with two tables for our large group. We had dinner together every night. They have a large video library. The internet worked great and was free. Had problems with the cable hookup. Would not go through the RV connections. The owner recommended going through a window a directly into the TV. This did work. The owners are very friendly. We saw them quite frequently going through the park. Although we loved how friendly the owners were: we will not stay here again. We have too many in our group that smoke. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Very nice place. Staff couldn't be friendlier. Neighbors were especially friendly, too. Every Sunday there is a Pot Luck, with owners providing the meat. They were celebrating 30 years in business, so we were treated to special entertainment. Despite the rain, it was a wonderful experience. Short enough drive to Grand Canyon, we could stay all day. We'd use it again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Very nice well maintained place to stay. Owners are very helpful. Level, pull throughs were ample for two vehicle also. Try the steak house down the road which has lots of atmosphere. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice park but please remember this is not a park for children. It is clean, level, has good water pressure and electric. There were a lot of full-timers staying here. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Park is open 6 months a year and owners run it and watch over it carefully. Lots of lower AZ RV'ers come for a month or more and escape heat. No children. Sites are red volcanic rock and a few have a small concrete slab. So more long term residents have outdoor carpets, etc to minimize the rocks and dust. Very convenient to major shopping center about 3 miles away and the downtown about 6 miles. Freightliner dealer is very good for diesel and Spartan chassis service. Dave local RV electrical service tech ( office has number ) is very good. We would definitely stay again. Only real negative is $44 rate which is high when compared with other parks for what they have, but have to counter balance it with being so close to town, etc. Macy's and restaurant next door downtown are excellent. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Senior park. Not for children. Children's fun can easily be seen as a nuisance by the rather old, semi permanent residents. Very clean everywhere. Large sites with 2 spots for the drain tube! Nice shop with RV stuff. DVD's rental for $3. Nice collection. Free TV room until 9 p.m. (however closed at 8:45 p.m.). When sun goes down, one won't hear a sound anymore! We camped here in a Motorhome.
$42 is for cash - extra with cc. Easy access, neat, clean, nice folks. Reverse snowbirds stay here a lot. They come up from 110 deg Tucson and Phoenix and cool off here during the summer. We would try to stay here when we come back through, but reservations are necessary because they fill fast. They just installed digital cable TV. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a case of 'it depends what you are looking for.' Not as picturesque in terms of natural setting, but they have added some lovely fountains. Bathrooms very clean. Cable worked very well. Our site was small, but there are larger ones. It is an adult park, with children being allowed if accompanied at all times. It was very quiet. There are a lot of rules - written in a folksy, humorous way, but still rules. I did not see office, store, or staff, as we arrived late at 8:30 p.m. and left before 10 a.m. opening time. However, we had a thank you card taped to our truck window, which was nice. Wi-Fi was useless, but there was a note on the office door saying it was down. No Wi-Fi, no pool made it seem a little expensive for what was offered. But if you want total peace and quiet, this is the place. We camped here in a Truck Camper.
Great owners! We stayed an extra week while our toad was fixed. They really took care of us with rides when we needed them and videos to watch. Our site was near the back and very quiet though a major road passes by the front. Nicely treed and utilities were good. Decent Wi-Fi and good cable. Would definitely stay again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a clean and tidy park. However, they have more rules posted than ANY park we have camped. They are very rigid and not willing to accommodate their guest's requests. This was not a relaxing place to stay and we would not stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very nice clean small park. We stayed nearly a week. Laundry was spend but very nice. Mostly motorhomes with senior couples. Some are staying all summer. Not a kid friendly place. We had a great spot. Quiet. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Best CG in Flagstaff although pricy for not having a pool and gravel sites. Very clean and the owners hard work shows. Utilities good, would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very nice park and level site. The park is quiet at night and well maintained with good utility connections. Enjoyed staying here for a couple nights. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very pleasant RV park. Pet friendly: nice dog area and an area for grooming. Well groomed gravel sites. Gravel roads made it dusty though they did spray water on them to reduce the dust. We stayed only one night but would have stayed longer if we were visiting the area. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Does not get much better than this. Clean and well maintained. Friendly owners. Big rig friendly. Lots of pull through sites. We stayed 16 days. Would stay here again. Probably not a first choice for long stay with children. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is one of the nicest RV parks we have ever stayed in. The big-rig pull-through sites are huge, with plenty of space to park the toad beside the motorhome. The sites are all level with lots of beautiful shade trees, good WiFi coverage, very quiet, yet convenient location. The interior roads are nice and smooth. The roads are covered with white rock and the sites have red rock, creating a really beautiful look. The park is run by a man and his wife who have owned it for about 30 years. Everything is immaculate! We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very nice quiet little campground. Yes, there are rules but I think they are to good effect. Easy in & out, level sites, some shade, good utilities and some bonus "green" areas with amenities like a cook-out area, fountains with seating areas, outdoor fireplace, horseshoes, dog-run, etc. A lot of thought, planning and care has gone into this place and I found the owners to be more than friendly and helpful. Very convenient to shopping and restaurants. P.s. Centennial Golf Club was great and only $30 green fees. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a very nice park. We ended up staying here longer than we expected. The only thing that we didn't like was the red dirt. It gets all over everything. We understood quickly why they had a pet wash area. We had to give our dog a bath twice while we were there. We would definitely stay there again. We camped here in a Truck Camper.
Very well run, organized to the point that it probably drives some folks nuts. It's a senior park and it was very nice not to be overrun by little kids and teenagers. As you can imagine quiet. Very, very pet friendly the nicest dog run I've seen and everywhere you look there are doo bags and trash receptacles. Tons of snow bird types with months long stays, the entire park is clean and ship shape. Maintenance crews water down the dirt to hold the dust down. The spots are level and everything works great. The Wi-Fi was OK, not great but worked just fine. Nice location North of town with an easy drive and lots of shopping nearby. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Made our first visit to J&H RV Park and it certainly won't be our last. The sites and grounds are impeccably maintained. While we only spent one night here en-route to our destination, we will return to more fully explore the area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Rate includes tax and GS discount. Very clean park, large level sites, and good hookups, but you need approximately 40 ft of coax to connect to cable. Very nice dog run which does have grass. The negative on this park is the number of "rules". We didn't have any problems, but we do think the rules were excessive (note: one rule is you cannot get on top of your RV). Park advertised but did not have pastries in the morning, nightly public fire, and hot tub. All in all it was a nice stay. Would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The owner was exceptionally nice, going out of his way to help us. He even offered to drive us to a local restaurant for dinner, then asked us to call when we were finished and he would come and pick us up. We were having some issues with our RV, so he suggested a repairman, who came early the next morning, did what we needed, then we were on our way. I've never seen cleaner showers. Would recommend this to anyone. It's a nice, clean, quiet senior park. The sign is a little difficult to see, so slow down when you even think you're close. We passed it and had to turn around and come back, not easy in a 38 footer. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Excellent all around, sorry we were not staying longer. Had a dog wash area which is great for those traveling with pets. Very helpful owner. Excellent amenities. Will be sure to come back if anywhere close by. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Clean, well-managed, well-maintained park. Easy-in, easy-out pull throughs for big rigs. Bathrooms are among the cleanest we have found anywhere. Nice outdoor facility to give your dog a bath. Attractive landscaping. The park’s sign at the entrance can be overlooked, so call ahead to ask for landmarks. The park tends to fill up each night, so reservations are recommended. We strongly recommend this park. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Nice park, a little over-priced. Rate reflects the Good Sam Discount as well as $2 off for paying cash. Long, level pull-throughs. A lot of rules that you must follow or you are asked to leave and that is made clear at check-in. But all that makes for a nice setting. Beautiful grounds, road noise not a concern. WiFi was spotty - sometimes it worked great, then suddenly we were knocked off. Good cable. Park caters to the over-55 RVers. Close to shopping and restaurants. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Packed gravel roads and wide enough sites. Easy access and almost level sites. Fast Wi-Fi and free. Fee represents GS discount. I thought this was maybe a little overpriced but is a nice, small CG. Not kid friendly, no pool or playground, but very quiet. Shuttle stop for Grand Canyon Tour $$$. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Lovely little park. Level sites. Park will give you $2. off if you pay with cash. When asked if checks were taken, response was: "Oh no." That's not cash. Office lady wasn't the friendliest, but would return to this park. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We had paid for seven days but I became ill & had to leave after only 5 days. Owner gave us a refund. He even offered to help my wife get things ready for our departure. Really nice person. Very clean park. Must follow the rules of the park or could be asked to leave. That's OK with us. We do just that. We will come back again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
J & H RV Park in Flagstaff, Arizona is absolutely the best RV park we have stayed in. It is quite, spotless, close to restaurants. It is obvious that a lot of thought and hard work went into the design of this Park. It is very cozy and comfortable. The owners are very artistic and witty. There are funny signs and plaques throughout the Park. They have written interesting and inspirational short stories about the park, their pets, their lives and life in general. We certainly understand why they has been awarded so many awards for the the best RV Park. We will definitely stay there again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed here two nights after reading good reviews from other travelers. The park was clean and neat. We requested a space where our rooftop satellite dish would work but the space assigned had big trees blocking the signal. The cable TV system was good though. The site wasn't level, the front wheels of our motorhome lifted off the ground. There is an enclosed dog run but it was mostly dirt and very dusty. However, this is probably the best park in the area and we would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Though rated as a 6, it is probably the best park in town from our observation, which is too bad because Flagstaff is a great place to visit. Sites are not level (tilted to the side). Some have concrete patios; ours was dirt, lots of dirt. We love Flagstaff and will stay at this park again, but will check out the concrete patios. Sites are narrow and if you have cigarette smokers next to you they will be directly below your window. We had three chain smokers. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Easily one of the better facilities around. Easy to see why RV catalogs give it such a high rating. Close quarters, but easy access, and clean clean clean. I'll stay here again. My only recommendation is for the staff to take a refresher course in "southern hospitality". A little too grumpy for this southern boy. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is a very nice park. It is gravel, but has nice level sites. Nice people. Pet friendly. We will stay here the next time we are in Flagstaff. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very nice RV park. Close to shops and downtown Flagstaff. Good sites quite wide and long with trees. Cable TV and Wi-Fi good. Clean restrooms and showers. We would return. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We came in late on a Thursday night after a long pull straight through from the Central Valley of California (on our way to Monument Valley, UT). We called ahead to let the office know that we were going to be in fairly late. They taped an envelope with our site information and a copy of their campground policies easily visible upon our entry into the park. We had a pull through site that was a breeze! After a long hard day of driving it was great to not have to put any leveling blocks under the wheels. The hookups were accessible to all of our rig's ports and we were completely set up in record time. One note worthy of mention is their rules and policies. The owner's are wonderfully endearing people who, while putting those policies into a humorous light, have clearly lived through a bevy of visitors that have made the list necessary. My wife and I laughed out loud at the way they put some of those rules. In a more serious tone though, we have visited some parks that have no rules or regulations and that lack of "guidance" is reflected in the unkempt state of the facilities and the intrusion of those few characters that make rules and regulations necessary. I rate this campground a full 10 due to the pet friendly atmosphere. (Dogs are welcome and if you don't pick after your dog you will be promptly refunded your fee and asked to leave. Now that's pet friendly!!) Has extremely clean facilities and ease of entry and exit of the sites. We plan on returning in the future to Flagstaff to tour the areas around there and staying with these folks for a longer period of time. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
The rate reflects the nightly cost with a Good Sam or FMCA discount. They also have a weekly rate. A small park with on-site owners. Lots of trees but they do not hinder the ability to get a 40 foot rig into the pull through sites, nor do they interfere with satellite reception. Very good Wi-Fi and cable TV. They have a hot tub, a pet wash area, and a nice dog run. They also provide pet-sitting if you want to get away for a long day and want to do some hiking or exploring the Grand Canyon, for example. (The National Park does have a kennel, but we have found that our dog much prefers staying in the rig than the kennels.) This is a convenient location for exploring the area with side trips to Sedona, Jerome, the Grand Canyon, the Lowell Observatory, etc. They even have a tennis court, but no swimming pool. This park has a good reputation and earns it. It is quiet and peaceful and we would stay again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Excellent park for the older RVers, especially with dogs. Nice dog run, quiet setting and very well maintained. Our rate was the cash rate. We stayed two nights longer than we had planned since we liked it so much. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Campground was very well maintained. Although sites are relatively close to one another, we did not feel crowded in our 31 footer. All gravel, no pavement and shade trees dropped "berries," but it was not enough to rank this friendly campground down. The owners seem concerned about their guests. One of the best things about this park is that it is close to sightseeing features and wilderness, yet a major shopping mall is just down the road to restock. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Clean and well appointed. The staff was helpful. Easy access and site position of our 40 foot rig, even with out unhooking the tow car. Somewhat shielded from the almost constant Flagstaff wind. There are many things to see in close proximity and only a short day trip to the Grand Canyon. After spending the winter in a park with wide paved streets and very level sites, it was a transition getting used to gravel again. In the Flagstaff area as in most others, this is the norm. This park, in my opinion, is head and shoulders above any others in the Flagstaff area. We did visit several others just to be truly objective. We will definitely stay here when once again in Flagstaff. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I don't know who gave this park such high reviews, but we had a very different experience. We tried to get reservations a couple days before the park opened, and it was like pulling teeth to get ahold of anyone. When we arrived, we were parked on dusty red gravel, which blew constantly, and left our rig, dogs, and shoes filthy everytime we went outside. The first day, as my wife sat at the computer inside our rig, a tractor, that was setting picnic tables at the sites, pulled up outside our front window, where the driver peered inside, and beckoned my wife outside with the crook of his finger. She came and got me, after being startled by this. When I went outside, I was told to move our toad so that the picnic table could be set up at our site. Why wasn't the campground prepared prior to the first day of opening? And is that the proper way to get the attention of a guest? The campground has tons of rules, which can be a good thing, but not here. One of the rules stated that we couldn't use a ladder or step stool at our rig, as we might sue the campground if we were injured. Our rear view camera was intermittent, so that rule was not complied with! There are no facilities to speak of, and you are instructed not to walk your dog outside the confines of the campground. The hosts were not friendly, and we thought the park very overpriced. We will not stay here again under any circumstances. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The park itself is very well laid out and is very neat and clean with good hook ups. The downside is the owner. On check in he couldn't find my reservation. When I told him I made it online the night before he launched into a dissertation about his displeasure with the company that handles the online reservations, like it was some how my problem. Also, when asked for information about local RV supply stores he was clueless. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Stayed here once many years ago when the sites were tight and very close together. What a difference! Sites are now wide enough for both your rig and your tow. Mostly pull-through sites with some back-ins that are also very wide and easy to get into. Very pet friendly with a fenced dog run available. Excellent cable and Wi-Fi and quite a bit of shade. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The only thing negative we could come up with here is it is lacking "the ocean". To say anything negative would be picky. This is a wonderful park. It is well laid out, spacious, with nice extra touches such as outdoor fireplace, fountain and hot tub, all surrounded by seating groups. The entire park is cared for daily. The owners taped a thank you note on our door the day of our departure. No one has ever done that before! The park is located very close to a major mall, Safeway, and a short drive from downtown. The Wi-Fi is fast and consistent and cable is available. Some mature trees may interfere if you try to use satellite. If you want to stay here, call early as they are booked well in advance. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Great park and great people. Very clean and well organized park. Roads are wide and gravel. Sides are pretty good size and well laid out. People were very helpful. Caters to an older clientele and is very quiet. Good free WiFi. Located north of Flagstaff convenient to I-40. Would stay here again in a heartbeat We camped here in a Motorhome.
My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights. The pull-through sites were nicely maintained, long enough for a 5th wheel and truck, but we prefer more distance between campers, too close to your neighbors. The park was very clean, neat, and tidy with many interesting common areas: an outdoor fireplace, recreation area, game room, reading/TV room, laundry room, and an outside sitting area with gliders by a calming water fountain. Park is close to gas station, RV repair center, and grocery store although there is nothing within walking distance. One previous review commented that the signs were comical, both my husband and I found the to be annoying and somewhat offensive. We have stayed at many, many campgrounds and have always found the owners to be very pleasant and accommodating. The owner of this park was extremely unfriendly. Many mornings he would actually turn the other way instead of greeting us. Probably would not stay here again for this reason. Would give our business to someone who at least appears to appreciate it. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Well run and maintained park. The sites are large and wide, WiFi and cable TV are strong. It is a small park but very comfortable with a lot of trees. The signs around the park are fun to read. We have stayed here several times and will continue to return. The place is usually full so it is obviously popular with other RVers. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We really liked this place, although it would not have been fun for our 13 year-old, who wasn't with us at the time. We appreciated their adherence to the rules and the way they really cater to people. The park was full while we were here and the owners were super busy, but tried hard to give full attention to all patrons. The showers were clean and nice. Our site was lovely. We rented a movie for $4.00 and loved having the option to do this. We would stay here again if we came through this area. We camped here in a Motorhome.
An excellent park, as per previous reviews. Well manicured, well managed, well maintained. Owners were friendly and had a great sense of humor. Their pride shows in every little detail of the park. Our site was not very far inside the park, but it was very quiet despite the nearby highway. We always try to present a balance of pros and cons when we do park reviews. We couldn't think of a real con to include in this one. We did stop short of a 10 because the gravel surfaces, and the fact that not all sites were level. Still, at the end of the day, we would send anyone here, and would happily return. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a "senior-oriented" park. The grounds are very well kept. All pads are small rocks. Our site was not level. The rate reflects Good Sam. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Quiet, shady, clean and nice place. The owners are courteous, helpful and have a sense of humor as seen in rules and signs about this RV park, yet serious about rules. Very nice area for pet walk also there are stations with pick-up bags throughout the RV park. We stayed a week, used this as a base to see sights South and North of here. Good experience for first time in Flagstaff area. Definitely will come again for a relaxing vacation if we find ourselves in the area. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is hands-down one of the best RV parks out of hundreds we have stayed at over the years. Owners keep this park perfectly groomed. Spaces are large and hook-ups are intelligently placed. Has mature trees, it's quiet, mountains views. The bonus is that the owners have a great sense of humor, and share this with you throughout the camp, very entertaining! Definitely not kid-friendly, but the rest of you are in for a real treat. Better reserve, or you will likely be shut out of a place that people in the know return to time and time again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Quiet park close to town. Very clean bathrooms and showers. Hair dryer is nice touch. Good size, fenced and divided pet run. Only has one washer and dryer. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice place, was very clean. Spots were close together. Owners were very friendly. We stayed here overnight. Several campground neighbors were using this as a base to explore Flagstaff, which we may do on a future visit. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Nice campground but a little crowded in that sites seem close together. Kind of like a gravel parking lot. Staff was friendly and helpful. Restrooms and showers were spotless. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This a great little park to spend some time in. This park is very clean and well run by owners. Roads are gravel and sites are red volcanic cinders. Our site was a pull-through with 30/50 amp power, water, cable TV with 60 channels, table and sewer plus level. Wi-Fi was in park fee, fast and on your site. Verizon cell and air card worked well here. Nice dog run plus a pet washing station near office. Recreation and picnic area in one corner of park. Park has rules like all other parks that were fun to read. Layout of park was great with wide roads and turns. Our site could hold two motorhomes side by side plus lot of room to next site over. Park has nice trees but may not help in summer months with sun. You will pick up road noise from Hwy 89 but it was not bad. Number of places to shop, eat and places to see couple miles from here. You will get a little dust off the cinders as you walk but it is far better than walked in mud to me. I feel this park is a little more for adults than kids. We like it a lot. Rate was with Good Sam. On morning we left a "Thank You Card" was on our door, a nice touch from the owner. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a convenient stop for us on the way to and from southern Arizona, and we never stay more than a night or two. If we were here longer I think we'd get annoyed at the restrictions the owners place on outdoor activity (NO work on rig, NO climbing on ladders or onto roof, etc.) but as long as we don't plan to do anything, it's a nice park. They've added concrete pads to every site for the picnic table, but there's still lots of fine red dust and gravel that gets into everything if it's windy. But all in all, given the other alternatives in the area, we like this park. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
After traveling 10,000 miles through 28 states it was a pleasure to be here and not be inundated with campfire smoke or barking dogs. This is a clean and well maintained park geared to the mature visitor. The owner was very accommodating and understands that some people enjoy getting away for a peaceful and quiet vacation. Like most campgrounds, there are rules, but unlike most others, rules are enforced. We will always try to stay here when in the Flagstaff area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is a very nice park with nice facilities. I have to agree with some of the prior reviews about the red lava rock sticking to everything and coming into the rig. You just need to be careful to wipe before entering. This park is close to town and is very convenient to other recreational facilities in the area. The park has lots of cutesy signs that become a bit tiresome, but I guess this is just the personality of the owners. The bathrooms and laundry facilities were fine and we ended up staying longer than originally anticipated. Would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is a friendly, fairly quiet park, convenient to Flagstaff and easy to get to from highway 89. The sites are large and roomy enough to park the truck next to the trailer. The main downside is that the sites are lava-rock type red gravel which isn't too appealing for sitting outside and makes a mess when you track it inside on your shoes, especially if it rains. But we like this park for an overnight or two on our way through the area. It's the best we've found in Flagstaff, despite the high price. Good cable TV and decent Wi-Fi; not all sites would be good for satellite reception. They fill up in the summer and on spring and fall weekends, so make a reservation. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is a very nice little park, well-maintained with nice landscaping, and spotlessly clean. The Wi-Fi worked well (I'm using it now to write this). I don't know what the other reviewer meant by "control freak." I had no problem at all with the manager, who was friendly and accommodating. When checking in, I asked for a site as far from the highway as possible, which he gave me. However, it turned out the site next door to it had a large dog left alone outside. Nothing against dogs, I just don't want to hear them constantly. The manager immediately offered me another site, and it was fine. The park is on a fairly busy highway and you would expect some traffic noise, but it wasn't a problem. I think the trees and the fact that the park slopes slightly downward away from the highway deflects the noise. Despite the slope though, my site was nice and level, and I had enough room that I didn't bother to unhitch the trailer. I didn't ask for a pull-through, of which there are only a few, and my site was wide enough I had no problem backing in. As others have noted, the park is fairly small, with tight turns, so big rigs will need to be a little extra careful. The only thing keeping me from giving this park a 10 is the nightly rate, which I thought was high considering it was off-season. The rate I quoted included Good Sam. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Very clearly an adult only park, but the managers are rude to the point of being intrusive. I was told when I checked in how to park and where to park. I was told if I didn't like the space then leave, this was all while looking at the map and trying to orientate myself to the park. The manager said that if i could not fit the rig in the space he would park it for me. Cooking outside is not an option because management comes for a visit and critique. Stay away! We camped here in a Motorhome.
Accommodations were excellent. One of the cleanest and most well managed campgrounds we have ever used. We would highly recommend it. The only negative was that the campsites were very close together. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

This park is fine for an overnight stay with no children. You better have a carpet because there are rocks all over. Large fenced in pet area but no place else to walk your dog. Very quiet park, extremely clean (like everything there is for show only) and forget the hot tub because it's extremely small and I'm not sure it's ever used. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
I agree with the previous post stating this park is weird. Yes, it is well maintained and nice, but it is like you are being watched every second to make sure you do not break "A Rule!" My husband and I are in our 50s and very respectful of rules; however, when my husband is out cleaning the RV windshield (with Windex - no hose in sight) and the park manager comes by twice to make sure he "doesn't plan to hook up a hose and wash the RV" then you know something is terribly wrong. The park was so quiet you could hear a pin drop and it felt like you were under surveillance the whole time. Seemed like most RVers were over 70 and didn't have a problem with the control-freak park managers, but we won't be staying here again!! We camped here in a Motorhome.
This was a good experience. We stayed over the busy Labor Day weekend and were treated well. When I called for a reservation the lady tried extra hard and succeeded to get us a site we liked. Not a fancy park but well managed. Also had good Wi-Fi. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice park. Clean. Sites are fairly close together. Good TV and Wi-Fi. Office hours are weird. I went up around 7pm to buy some ice cream and the office was closed. Yes, there are a lot of rules but they didn't bother us. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is absolutely the weirdest RV Park I have stayed in ever! It is clean and tidy yes, but to a fault. I thought I had just stepped into to the Twilight Zone or the Stepford Wives Movie. We had made reservations over 2 months ago and had told the owner exactly the type of experience we were looking for. 2 moms, 2 dads, 16 and 30 year old daughtersfor a total of 6 people: 2 sites side by side. Girls and Dads were going overnight down the Grand Canyon and Moms had other great things to do. We are polite and respectable RV'ers. From the moment we arrived it was wrong. No! we could not pull one Rig in from the other side because it is not allowed. No, you may not fix your Motorhome shade if you have to climb on the roof. You must be absolutely straight when you park your car. You cannot return to the park after 10:00pm without permission. One of our units has a slide out kitchen outside and they were sneaking behind trees to see what we were doing. If you thought that a Military School was stressful, you should stay here. Long time RV'ers get free nights if they find an infraction by an overnight client. By far the rudest owners/ managers I have ever met. On the last evening we were sitting by our propane "campfire in a can" telling stories of our mule ride down the canyon when out of nowhere the owners just stared at us and shouted to us they had called the police on us and we were breaking the law. Really!?! It was outrageous! We complied with everything. We never said a cross word but if we had not been for our wonderful sense of humor and composure, our holiday would have been ruined. I would never recommend this park to anyone other than very old people who want to have someone rule their lives. By the way, we are in our 50 and 60's. Never bring children here. They are not allowed to cry. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Contrary to another reviewer, we found the park very nice. We found very clean showers and restrooms, very friendly, helpful owners and a quiet place to stay. Their Wi-Fi worked flawlessly without any confusing setup beforehand. Children are permitted in the park but must be supervised by an adult whenever they are outside, contrary to other RV parks we have been in. Nothing worse than children running, screaming and (believe it or not) throwing rocks at RVs. Thankfully we encountered none of this here. We appreciated knowing that we could count on a clean, calm, quiet stay. As for one reviewer stating that you couldn't enter the park after 10 PM: they read the rules incorrectly. The owners prohibit RV entrance and setup after 10 PM. You can enter and leave via auto at any hour you wish. Hats off to the owners for running the best park we have been to. We plan to make it our home base whenever we are in Flagstaff. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice clean place. The pull through sites are small. My only complaint about this place was although well run: I found the restrictions far too strict. The business of not leaving before 8 a.m. and not entering the facility after 10 pm is ridiculous. I would rather be somewhere less restrictive. The owners are rather Gestapo like. And if you like that, then fine. But not for me again. I want to be fair here, these people run a tight ship: the grounds are clean, the price is reasonable but it is too restrictive for our tastes. We are mid 50 year olds. You need to be 100 years old to enjoy this type of environment. If you are a little younger: stay away. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is a good clean RV park with knowledgeable staff that are very accommodating. There is a hot tub, showers, restrooms, laundry, activity room with big screen TV, microwave, coffee pot, etc. All are well maintained and clean. The sites were plenty wide and level with cable TV. Park is on a street with plenty of gas stations and C-Stores. The Wi-Fi is free and works well with plenty of speed. There are picnic tables at each site. The staff went so far to please that they left us a goodbye card taped to our door the morning we were to leave. We didn’t find any of the quiet times or rules overly restrictive. We have stayed here in the past and will stay again if given the opportunity. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
The reason we went to this campground was that the bathrooms were rated a 9.5 and I needed to wash my hair. I was very disappointed in the showers! There were only two, they were small, the shower head was tiny and placed very low, and it just was not worth a 9.5 rating at all! The campground has a 10:00 o'clock curfew, which is ridiculous for adults. We wanted to go out to hear some live music Saturday night, but it didn't start until 9:00 pm and we knew we would not be able to be back by 10:00, so we were unable to go. We went to the TV room to watch TV instead and sit on their big, comfortable sofa, but were kicked out at 9:00 pm so they could lock the doors. The park rules are printed on the back of the campground map and we didn't read them until after 6:00. The office closes at 6:00 pm so we could not go ask about staying out past 10:00 pm. The park was clean and neat, but it is located a ways outside the town, so it's not very convenient. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice park with level sites, shade trees but close-packed. Next site over was about 7 feet away. Sewer plug is right next to the concrete curb, so hard to get to sometimes. Lots of big Class As in the park, so we felt a mite small. The guy next to us left at 5:15 in the morning! So quiet hours are not necessarily observed. Highway noise from four-lane highway. Hard to see their sign because of local sign codes, I guess, so we missed it on first try. Fairly big pet area where they can be off the leash. Very pet-friendly with 3 "Dog Pots" with bag dispensers and trash bins. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
The owners, JoAnn & Harvey Mickelson, were both very nice and attentive to our needs. The park is clean and entry/exit friendly. The only issue (minor) was street noise; we were in the site closest to AZ-89. I would highly recommend this park. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
I enjoyed the big sites and that it was very pet friendly. Anytime I had a question, it was answered. They have rules and as all rules, they keep the campground safe and pleasant for an all. The RV park was so nice, we stayed an extra week. The owner even watched our dogs for us. How nice is that! So, for all you RVers that want clean sites and a pet friendly place, this is it. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The owners have worked so hard to make this park attractive, they have forgotten that people being there can cause disorder. I felt like I was in a library and the librarian was constantly saying "Shush." We had a mechanical problem with our motor home and were aided by the repairman the owners recommended and they scolded him for opening the engine compartment. They enforced the rules like the Gestapo the entire week we were there and made us feel unwelcome. The 10mph speed limit was rigorously enforced. We camp six months a year and have never encountered such a lack of understanding from campground owners. They acted like we were the Beverly Hillbillies defiling their campground with our malfunctioning rig. Too bad - it was a nice park otherwise. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This was a one night stay. Access to the site from the freeway was easy and upon our arrival the staff was friendly and helpful. Full service hookup points were easy to get to. We would stay at the park again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
As stated in other reviews that sites are very nice, however the owners are a bit officious on some of their "rules." I was stop in Flagstaff again we'll find other accommodations. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Although I agree with the previous reviews comments, there is more to a campground than the physical facilities. Unfortunately our week stay was marred by some heavy handed rules and poor practices by the management. If you stay only a single night, you probably will not be affected by the control over your activities. We asked for a satellite friendly site over 6 months in advance and although available when we arrived, we were denied this type of site because they are "saved for overnighters" (this doesn't make sense to me either). Have water on your slide covers, too bad because you are not allowed on your own roof to push it off - and you are also not allowed to use a ladder for any purpose. Campers are expected to be home by 10PM. And don't even think about opening your hood to check the oil. Some rules are written with a wink, but these are enforced. The only conclusion I can reach is that management runs the campground for their convenience without regard to their customers needs and interests. I would think twice about staying for any length of time and would not stay again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
J and H RV Park has made some important changes for the big rigs that travel East and West on I-40 or are headed to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. In the past two years, they have removed 30 sites and made huge open sites. With relocated utilities in the rear, it makes entry and exit very easy without unhooking. This park has a pickle ball court so you can get some exercise on the road with this new sport phenomenon. A basketball hoop is also available. Because of schedule, we stayed only one night but will definitely plan on more time there on the way back. Harvey and Joann, who own and operate this park, have won many awards for their management style and it shows. The restrooms and showers were spotless. Probably the park’ finest attribute was appreciate by the small Minpin who travels with us. An enhanced dog run, over 500 feet, was a shady and pleasant place to spend time. Although we have stayed in this park many times in the past, this was the first time in the past five years and the improvements really show forward thinking and were greatly appreciated by this RV enthusiast. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We really loved this park! The owner made us feel welcomed and at home, immediately. The park was clean, well maintained and our site was an easy pull-through. The office/gift shop/store was well stocked. This is a good location for visiting the Grand Canyon, Sunset Crater, Jerome, Oakcreek Canyon, and Sedona. Our only tiny complaint is the red, crushed lava on the sites. It is easily carried into the RV on shoes and is messy in the rain. We will definitely stay here again when visiting the Flagstaff area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Rate with Good Sam discount. Friendly owners, nice, clean park. Large sites accommodate big rigs easily but are a bit close together -- when we put our awning out we nearly touched our neighbor's slide-out. We were able to get our satellite TV so didn't use cable, but it's available. Contrary to other posts and what their literature says, we were able to get wi-fi at our site -- hope it was the campground's and not someone else's! Quiet, convenient, nice place to stay. We're here only for an overnight stay; if we were going to be here longer it would be nice to have a bit more space or some grass to put out our chairs and grill. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This very clean and well managed park clearly shows pride of ownership in all its facilities and operations. It is, as other mention, geared to adult and really senior adult clientele. The sites are reasonably level gravel. The hookups are a bit oddly positioned with respect to the vehicle locations but manageable. Restrooms and showers are spotless and there is a nice doggie run facility. Free Wifi is apparently available in the office but there are fees charged for Wifi at sites which is annoying in this modern day. Road noise is quite noticeable in the front sites. Overall a pleasant, albeit a bit expensive, spot to stay especially if you fit the demographic. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
An adult campground. Nothing for children to do here. All sites are gravel. In fact the whole campground is gravel, no grass. Sites are almost level. Staff was cordial. When registering you're informed that you drive to your own site. Your tow vehicle MUST be parked in a certain manner on site. Pro's: Sites are large. Facilities clean. Easy access gravel roads. Free Wi-Fi and Cable TV. Cons: No trailers over 10 years old. No clotheslines or bird feeders. No tents. No car or RV washing. No climbing on roof of your RV. Np camp fires. No pool. No entering park after 10PM. We requested a picnic table and was told they would deliver them later. Well, 3 days later still no table. We would stay here again but would enter in to other parks also. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is a very nice park, located about 3 miles from I-40, so road noise isn't a problem. People are friendly and the sites are nice and wide. The park is maintained very well. Access from the road and within the park is very good. There is a huge dog walk as well as a pet wash. The only reason I don't give it a perfect 10 is that the WiFi is expensive and occasionally slows down to a crawl. Also there is no cable TV. We would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is one of the nicest parks we have stayed in. We arrived with the thought of only staying 1 night. We extended our stay 2 additional days to rest and relax. The park is small but extremely neat. The red gravel keeps everything clean while it rained on us all 3 days. We found Harvey and his wife (the owners) to be very friendly and helpful. As we were leaving, Harvey came by our site and gave us a thank you card. Perfect park, perfect stay!!! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
In twenty years of Rving, J&H is by far one of the best parks we have found. They are one of the few who enforce their rules making it wonderfully quiet and peaceful for everyone. We were there during some rain storms and were glad that the park had a covering of gravel so that we didn't have to step in mud anywhere. The owners have gone beyond the call of duty to make this park comfortable, friendly, clean, and beautiful for those of us who are full time rver's. We camped here in a Motorhome.
After reading other reviews didn't know what to think. This is a really nice park. The owners are nice, and they have lots of rules: yippee!! So if you don't like rules don't come here. Restrooms are spotless; the dog run is great. Would return in a heartbeat. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Small park but we liked it for a one night stay. The site was level and had shade. There is a fee for WiFi if you use it at your site, but free inside their building. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We are rating this average due to a few things. The couple that manage this park do not communicate very well with each other. One will say something is ok to do, then the other one says its wrong and that's not park policy. The park also states it's family friendly, and although they provide a playground, which looks like it hasn't been used in years, we felt like children were not to be seen or heard. There were families staying in the park during our stay, but we never saw them unless they were going to the showers. They do provide good pet areas. There is an extensive dog run and dog wash area. The bath facilities are spotless, as are the rest of the facilities. The owners seemed a little too festidious and demanding in their park policies. We wanted to stay longer to explore the Flagstaff area, but we moved on because of the way we felt at the park. If you are a senior citizen traveling in a big expensive rig, you will be welcomed and treated like royalty at this park. We would choose another park to stay at if we passed through Flagstaff again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is was a very pleasant park to spend a few days at. It is small, seemed to cater to retired/senior RV'ers, very quiet, and the owner (Harvey) was very helpful and pleasant. I would certainly recommend it and would revisit for future trips. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This campground has a variety of sites. Some are quite large others are very tight. At our site the guy next door had parked his 5th wheel where the slide actually was over our site and then complained when our slide would have been right up next to his. The hostess actually asked me to move over, which meant that we wouldn't be able to park the toad at the site. The Wi-Fi available at the site is a commercial service and isn't very fast. Wi-fi was important to us since we work remotely and needed a day or two of good access. Campfires were not allowed. Overall we managed OK here. We worked one day then went to the Grand Canyon another day and then went our way. We would stay here again but only for one or two nights. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Best park in Flagstaff! Spaces ere easy to get our 40' motor home in and out of. We didn't care much for the red lava rock on the sites. Everything, but the dog run was well maintained. We felt it was good place for a short summer stay. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Super clean park with a nice staff. Not much in the way of a setting, just a place off the main road toward Zion, etc. Not a place I'd stay for very long as it really lacks any true ambiance and doesn't have Wi-Fi. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Watch carefully for the small sign or you will miss this park. It is well kept, but could use better gravel, the current mix means you will be tracking dust into your RV unless you are really careful. There is a hot tub, but not in an attractive location. Unlike most parks (and motels) in Flagstaff, it is not near a train track or crossing. It does, however, get quite a bit of road noise from Highway 89. Our biggest problem in our recent stay there was the wind. If it is windy anywhere in Flagstaff it will be very windy at this park. We will probably stay here again, but only in a calm season. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This tightly-managed park is visually appealing, with long, level, reasonably wide sites. Very nice common areas, both outdoors and indoors. Wi-Fi at your site costs extra (we had great reception on our Verizon aircard), but is free in the TV lounge. Our rating would be higher if the sites had cable TV and picnic tables. Noise from Hwy 89 is somewhat annoying. We don't have a dog, but the dog walk area and fenced off-leash area seem like useful amenities. We will return when we are in the area again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The hot tub is small, above ground, could not fit 4 people; book exchange was take 1/leave 2 (first time I saw this in 16 months of fulltiming); sites were on crushed red rock that got into your shoes and were carried into the RV; the pet wash was not open; the owner seemed more interested in selling short manuscripts (20 pages for $5) he had written; no picnic tables at sites; signage to find the CG woefully inadequate We camped here in a Motorhome.
Wildly divergent ratings depending on what you're looking for. Clean park, decent location (close to town and local attractions), **very** clean restrooms and showers. Big screen TV in clubhouse for customer use - a nice touch. This campground, however, was the most family-unfriendly in my four-week-old road trip so far. On check in, I was asked how old each of my three children was - which isn't a problem in and of itself, but we were charged an additional $5 fee for our oldest, who is 3 years old. This is a first on this road trip or any other. We were told that the policy is that the base rate covers 2 people, and that each additional person who can walk costs an additional $5 per night, regardless of age. The park is small, the sites are small, and the service is decidedly unfriendly. The facilities, however, are more than adequate re: cleanliness and location. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Park has easy access for large rigs with very level sites. Located close to highway 89 and just off I-10 with noise level very acceptable. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Nice park - well laid out with wide level gravel sites. Gravel patio with picnic table. Roads are well packed gravel as well. Fenced in dog run is nice but a little out of way if your site is toward the front of the park. Wonderful Sunday Pot Luck Dinner, great friendship among campers. Excellent owners but have a tendency to be a little overbearing. Chastised us smoking IN our RV with windows open, and a cigar outside of our RV with wind blowing. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Small park which did not deliver the reserved pull-through (with no apologies), and did not seem to want to make good on the promised site. We reluctantly agreed to a very small back-in. We checked in early and saw many pull-through sites open; however, by nightfall, the park was completely full. Sites are covered in dusty red dirt/rock, and not as level as they appear. Internet access is not quite as advertised. Yes, there is fee-based wifi at your site, but the “free modem” in the main building turns out to be an old data phone with a phone cord (you need your own modem and ISP with toll-free dial-up numbers). The restroom and shower areas are very clean. Next visit will probably be to another park. We camped 2 nights with no pets. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Park was very clean, friendly, and quiet. Had a nice dog run but was not lit at night and not very big. Had a play area for kids and basket ball hoop. Easy access for big rigs. It seemed mainly people wintering from Phoenix. Overall a good place to stay. We will stay there again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice small park. Staff was very friendly. Well maintained park. WiFi costs extra, which most top parks are including. Easy access off US89 and not far from I-40. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We really liked this park. The site we had was quite large and we had lots of room for our 40 ft. RV with 4 slides out. The dog park was in good shape and bags provided. (I do apologize to the owners for other dog owners who still don't clean up after their pets. Here is a campground that provides a safe run for you pet plus bags and they are still too lazy to take care of their own mess). The park was quiet and the owners friendly. We will stay here again when in Flagstaff. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I stayed here 2 nights. I found the sites to be very skinny and you had to hug one side so that your electric steps could open. You could not open your awning if you wanted to. Wi-fi was expensive per day charge. The staff was organized and check in was speedy. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very nicely layed out RV park. Some sites are fairly close but acceptable. I would stay here again. Staff helpful and really work to make this park nice. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We really enjoyed this park. Although small, the owner has turned the narrow spaces into larger ones by eliminating every other space. Nice shade trees surround the area and beautiful group picnic areas available. The park was quiet and peaceful. The park does have a lot of rules posted, but if you take time to read them you'll find the owner's humor at every turn. We were impressed with the dog run, but unfortunately, if you're not a "little person" you run the risk of being decapitated while entering the "no leash" zone. My husband ran into the aluminum frame that houses the gate twice. (You'd think he'd have learned the first time??) We found the owners to be pleasant and helpful and we will definitely return to this park again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Actually a very nice park. Unfortunately, it feels like living in a prison camp. A senior couple across from us had had a young couple visit with their tiny baby. Maybe great-grandson or something. The owner chased them from parking in front of the spot. It was clearly NOT interfering with any traffic. The couple left in less than a half an hour. It was sad for them to have to move their van for only a few minutes when is would not have interfered with anyone anyway. Also, they encourage you to turn in your neighbor for bad behaviour. In fact, they REWARD you for turning in your neighbor for bad behaviour. On top of all that, the picnic tables are stained. Unfortunately, it stains your clothes when you sit on it. The sites were not level as you would expect. My friend stayed in a smaller site for his little class c. He could barely open his door without hitting the RV nest door. I never seen anything like it. But they did have a good dog run. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This park was very nice. I found the owners to be very friendly and helpful. In some parts of the park they have converted two spaces into one large space so they now have some quite large spaces. We would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Flagstaff has very little greenery, so this park (like all others there) has a lot of red volcanic dust. Hard to keep your dog clean, but this park is quite pet friendly. This park was nice and well maintained. Tending to be more of an adult park, it has several recreation items. Small store, nice laundry set-up and rec. room. Would stay here again. Bring warm clothing. It snowed here the end of April. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We stayed in Oct. 2005 in a 37' motor home. The park was spotless, you can tell the owners took great pride in their park. JoAnne and Harvey were very helpful and funny. The wife and I had a great time and we will be back. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Nice looking park. However they have way to many signs for rules. The trash was over flowing and it was impossible for me to find the dog run. Most of the spaces are very narrow and allow little to no room. Wifi access was good from our location. If I'm in the area again I would not stay here. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We've stayed at this park several times and it's very neat and tidy. Full of rules, etc., just like everyone else has noted. Our site was the last one closest to the highway and it was extremely noisy and busy. But the one annoying new rule I noticed this time was the exclusion of malamutes including mixed breed. Having owned such a dog who was a therapy dog to boot and to think she would not have been allowed, ruffles my feathers big time. I have to add that I heard a lot of "yapping" of the little dogs. But I guess that doesn't annoy him!! We'll stay at Greer's Pine Shadows across the street next time where everyone is welcome. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This park has the prettiest gravel I have ever seen, in fact, the entire place is very neat and tidy and pretty. But there is a Stepfordian feel to it that made us rather uncomfortable. Hard to relax with all those rules and regulations posted every 5 feet offering a "bounty" for offenders. The dog walk (so highly praised a couple of reviews above) was admittedly nice but unusable after dark. I had to let my dog take a stealth pee in the gravel at about 5 a.m. luckily, no one saw and reported me, or I'd probably have been kicked out! And the sites were uncomfortably close together, even though we paid extra for a wide one. Since we were only there overnight, we didn't experience any of the problems that a few others have noted. And I must emphasize that the owners were very polite to us at check in. As noted, it IS a lovely park. I can understand why they are proud of it. But, the abundance of signs and rules made me feel like I was staying at a pleasant little detention camp. I could understand all those "thou shalt nots" if we were staying at their house for free, but we were paying customers. Note to J and H, unfortunately, when you're running a business, sometimes you just have to deal with the pesky public! And most businesses try to cater to the customer, rather than expecting the customer to cater to them. If you like things just so and are an unabashed nit-picker (or a former high school hall monitor) you will enjoy your stay greatly. If you're the type that tends not to wear your panties in a knot, then you probably would be more comfortable camping elsewhere. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We have stayed at J&H RV Park several times and always enjoy it. The park is clean, quiet, and well maintained. There are several nice patios with flowers and fountains, good places to relax and meet your neighbors. The owners are always friendly and greet us with a smile and usually a hug. Yes, there are rules; but nothing you would not expect in a park of this quality. As for the signs, I guess you either love them, hate them, or don't really notice. Many people seem to love them as they walk around taking pictures with their cameras. Most are humourous and usually hit the mark. The WiFi worked very well for us. There is a weekly potluck cookout, with burgers provided by the park. Everyone was very friendly and made us feel welcome and at home. This is one of the best parks we have stayed at, well deserving of its high Trailer Life rating and selection as RV Park of the Year; twice. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

J&H does have an excess amount of rules. You are expected to leash your dog on the way to the block long pet run (which has sections for large and small dogs) or to the dog bath (which has hot and cold running water and an electrical outlet). The doggy doo bags stations all over the park indicate that you are expected to clean up after your dog. Yuck. There is a cookout every Sunday night. The resort furnished the entre but you are expected to provide your own beverage and eating utensils. And the free breakfast is only coffee and rolls: not an omlette in sight. The outdoor activity area boasts a number of activities as basketball, horseshoes, pickle ball, etc. However, you are expected to supervise your children and not let them run free: that's a real pain. How can you have any peace and relaxation if you have to supervise the kids all day? Because of the fire danger, it is suggested that you use the gas grill provided instead of the charcoal grills. If you do use the charcoal grills, they expect you to waste time extinguishing the fire. Like a little charcoal fire is going to burn the place down. Sounds paranoid to me. The inside recreation room closes at nine o'clock so if you want to party till the wee hours, you are out of luck. Just because the owners have put their life's blood into building and maintaining this place, they think they can run the park any way they want. They will be happy to refund your fees if you can't live with their rules and even your visitors are expected to follow the rules. That really seems a bit much. If you like to party hardy, drink a lot, smoke some weed, and raise a ruckus: you will hate it at J&H RV Park. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This park is clean, well kept and all the don'ts are visible posted. The lady was very nice. The old gruff that is referred to in previous reviews wasn't present (must have been making new signs: at least 200+). My impression about the signs left me feeling that Serbian prision camps had a better customer relations department than this place. The dog walk/playground is nice except at night it's darker than pitch black! The temporary visitors were nice and friendly, the perminent residents must have been recruted from the retiring Serbian prison guard ranks. Don't leave early, you be greated by some very unfriendly folks. We only stayed one night so we may have caught them and a bad time. (Or the rest of the staff was out tormenting street people and we got them on a good day). I'd stay again only if I got a signed statement from six people saying they planted (carried him to his grave) the absurd person that posted so many DON'T or TURN IN OFFENDER signs. We camped here in a Motorhome.
My first visit to J & H RV Park was in May, 2004. I intended to stay 1 month. Because of the owners and the guests I got to know, and the park, itself, I stayed until the park closed for the winter on October 15th. Tigger the cat and Edmund the squirrel are the only full time residents. In 2005, my stay began on April 15th and will, again, last until the end of the season. I like it here. When I was young, I was told to leave things better than I found them. Part of this is valid criticism. The personal insults and vitriol spewed by some of the reviewers are uncalled for. It's as bad as the political campaigns we've had to endure. Perhaps an old quote from Sgt. Joe Friday applies: "Just the facts, ma'am." We camped here in a Motorhome.

hookups and easy access for even the largest rigs. I have read some of the negative comments about the owners but I found them to be very friendly and helpful. We will stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

I'm a bit amazed by the number of negative reviews; my stay here was pleasant, and the owners were really good folks. Even hand-delivered a "thank you" card before we left. The park is probably the cleanest I've seen, with really good Wi-Fi available. The only real complaint is that the sites are *really* narrow. Because of this I went with the "wide" site (for more $), but even then there was only sufficient room on one side: the rig on the other side was literally about 4 feet from my wall. Note that I *don't* have slide-outs. The only other thing that reduced the rating for me is that the place is not at all kid-friendly. As in they'd rather see your dog than your kid. So a 7 with kids, and a 9 without them: I split the difference. Once the kids are grown I'd come back. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Very strange little RV park. Run like a concentration camp. I understand the need for rules, but these folks take it to extremes! There are over 200 (counted 'em) signs around the park, many offering a reward (they throw out the offender and give a free night to the person that turned them in), if you turn in fellow campers for offenses. They ask that you write down a description of the person and get their site number! The capital offenses are: dog indiscretions, cigarette butts, blowing your nose in the shower, leaving/entering the park before 8:00 am or 10:00 pm, bad aim at the toilet, motorcycles going the wrong way on the gravel roads, you get the idea. I have never felt so uncomfortable in a park, ever! We couldn't wait to leave. Yes it is clean (chain gangs keep it that way I guess), but we had numerous problems: 1. Water pressure was only 6-9 PSI. 2. Voltage dropped to 94VAC and 54Hz 3. They changed the combination to the restroom and did not inform anyone and were nowhere to be found to get the numbers. 4. Front desk staff gabbed on the phone rather than assisting people and were never on time opening in the morning. 5. I almost broke an ankle using the very dark and unlit dog run as there is a big step down right after you get through the gate and it is pitch black. 6. Wi-Fi (the reason I chose the park) is almost unusable and I needed to make 12 calls to get back on and they double billed me (twice the price for half the service) - this is "RV Wifi" (using AirPath). 7. Don't even think of doing anything to the exterior of the RV - I got barked at for checking the pressure in my tires! 8. I was asked three times (not by Park owners) whether I was LDS. 9. Trash dumpster was overflowing multiple times. They need more. 10. All of the sites are covered with small red rock which gets everywhere in the RV, especially if you have one one of those evil, 4-legged critters. One of the owners has a real anger problem, and detonates on a fairly regular schedule (goes after wife, kids, campers, anyone). Believe me I could go on. So, if you like things tidy and organized, this is the place for you, otherwise stay somewhere else. We previously stayed at Woody Mountain and it was great (but not Internet friendly). I spent twenty years in the military and they have too many rules even for me! We camped here in a Motorhome.

The older negative comments seem to be a bit extreme with respect to the signs and rules. I found at least 50% of the signs to be humorous, albeit sometimes an effective way to communicate the rules. By the same token, the most recent comment stating that it had been the best campground that the reviewer stayed at in the 100 campgrounds they'd visited, also seems a bit extreme. My husband and I have been full-timing for over a year now, and it's certainly not the best campground at which we've stayed. The campground certainly has a lot to recommend it: The people were friendly at check-in; they recommended a decent restaurant at which to eat, and the campground is relatively neat and clean (the granulated gravel kept getting in my sandals. A minor irritation). However, one minor problem was that the campground info flyer indicated the office and main laundry opened at 9 am. Yet I received a recording several times when I called one morning. When I finally reached someone shortly before 10 am, she said that they didn't open at 9 am. I certainly don't think they ought to reprint the flyers, but surely they could hand-write the change or let people know when they checked in. All that said, I would've rated the campground a 9 were it not for the problem with the Wi-Fi. I confess, I'm spoiled by the fast speed and will go out of my way to stay at campgrounds with Wi-Fi when I have a lot of things to do on the internet. When I made the reservation, I specifically asked them for a site at which we would be able to receive the provider signal (some campground provider's either can't or won't cover the entire campground with their signal requiring that you park RV in sites near the signal). She said no problem: all the sites were covered. All day the signal has been either low or very low (very similar to the speed when we use wireless via our cell phone), or it cuts out all together, right when I'm in the middle of doing something. In fact, I am re-writing this review [in a word document before I paste to the website form] because I had almost finished typing in the last review and went to submit and got kicked out. If campgrounds are going to "benefit" in getting the increased traffic from those RVers who want Wi-Fi, they need to be responsible for the product that is provided via the third party provider. I don't think we'll be back. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

A couple of previous posts complained about the "poor attitude" of management at this park, and I want to correct it. It is true that they strictly, but fairly, enforce rules that are for the benefit of everyone, and it is also true that they do not allow repair work in the park unless it is an emergency. These folks have built this RV park with their own hands and are intensely proud of it. They consider it their life's work, and it is immaculate. I found both owners to be really fine people who go out of their way to accommodate any reasonable request. (He even came to our rig one day when we could not get back in time and let our dog out and fed him.) We recently spent six months on the road and stayed at over 100 campgrounds in 29 states. This was the best of all. The "signs" all over the place are for sale, and are very, very funny. This park is a gem and anyone who badmouths it (like a couple of people did), are people who don't want to follow the rules which make a park superior. You try this park and you will love it, and you will love the owners. They are two of the finest people I have ever met. We camped here in a Motorhome.

DO NOT have RV or Truck problems in this park. I had a valve stem go bad on a tire on my truck while we were at the park. The (woman) management did not want to allow my emergency road service (Good Sam ERS) in the park to change my tire. She was very uncooperative! I understand the park wanting to maintain a good image and not allowing major repairs but, this woman was very hard to deal with and did nothing to help me get back on the road. She had a TERRIBLE attitude for someone in business and working with the public. However, they do have a nice park. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here only because the KOA up the road really wasn't able to accommodate our rig (56' overall length, truck and 5W combined, and 12 1/2 feet high). We found JoAnne to be a lovely person, but Harvey is one of the most obnoxious individuals I've met. He epitomizes the grumpy-old-man persona. He has posted negative signs all over the park. The only way to escape them is to stay in your rig 24 hours a day. At first I thought it was just an overdone joke, but I decided that the signs really do reflect his personality. He's obsessed with rules, and doesn't know the word "please". The park is immaculate and lovely to look at but the atmosphere is hostile. Harvey made us very uncomfortable (think "Gestapo"). We won't go back. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed at this park on our trip West for about four days due to some repairs at a local RV repair shop. Great repair shop. The lady manager at the RV park seemed nice enough, but the man (her husband) walked around with a scowl on his face all day and didn't have too much to say. On our return trip, we stayed here again with our new coach we had purchased in Oregon. We were leaving on a Sunday morning. I went down his one way road, had to disconnect the tow car and turn around. This is when this "man" went wild. He told me I couldn't park in the main road to connect my car. He and I were
the only ones out at that time of the morning. I told him I could connect in five minutes. He got in his van and scratched off in the gravel and called me names as he drove away. Mind you, this man was dressed for church as he had his wife in the van with him. He got me so bumfuzzled, I started driving off with the emergency brake on the car. He pulled along side and told me about the brake and cussed me out further! NO, I don't think I would stay here again and I sure would not recommend this to my worst enemy. Plus, he has these DUMB signs all over the park that he had put up. We camped here in a camper.

Nice well kept park, very quiet, cool mountain breezes. Would return again! We camped here in a camper.
Not good, but have seen worse. Nice location with tall pines. Good for overnight, wouldn't want to stay much longer. Restrooms not very clean. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Sites are spacious and the staff is friendly. That being said, this RV park has been under new management since Jan, no improvement noticed since our last stay in 2010. Areas that would be ideal for a playground or pet area are used for heavy equipment and RV storage. Many of the tenants are permanent with older RVs. Attached wooden decks, patios, storage shed, and large propane tanks are common through out. Restrooms are extremely small. Showers are in desperate need of re-caulking. In the laundry facility, half of the machines do not operate. Kit Carson has much potential, but in its current state, it has been neglected for a very long time. I love the tall pines, but this RV park just is not an attractive park for vacationers. We will not stay a 3rd time. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is an older park, having been here in the 1960's. Sites were laid out funny. Was given the choice of 2 sites. First site was a no brainer, had several real tight turns to get to it. Second site was better. A lot of low power lines through out the park. Manager did warn me of them. The majority of the residents are permanent. Was given 2 full pages of rules to follow. We may or may not stay here next trip to Flagstaff. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a residents park with not very many overnight spots available. We did not like any of the overnight spots and searched the park for an empty slot farther from the road. We asked and got permission to use that slot. I found the manager helpful for my needs but would not expect much help if something went south. BTW: The sewer system has just been fixed. They had to dig up a large section in the front of the park. I would not hesitate to camp here again. It is close to the downtown area and shopping. Buried in the trees, it is quiet which we like. The bathroom looked well used and crude, but were spotlessly clean. Ditto the laundry facilities. I did have trouble receiving WiFi from our spot and you had to be very near the office for reliable WiFi. This is not as bad as reviewed earlier. Oh, lots of lava rock which is dusty. But they are laying down good rock replacement which is helping the dust situation. If someone drives fast on the road, it does kick up a lot of dust. We stayed here twice. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Based on the positive review we read here (April 2010) we decided to try Kit Carson RV Park. What a rip off this place is. For the price you would expect at least a decent park. The roads are washed out gravel that are pretty rough and the camp sites are not any better. Overall the park is run down and in need of a major face lift. We did find the restrooms clean, but I don’t think I have ever seen such a small facility in my life. Also be aware that there are wires strung over the roadway within the park that are very low (11’). They advertise cable TV, but do not offer free service. Cable is at some of the sites but you have to contact a local provider to set it up. OK I guess, if you are staying here for an extended stay. The internet would not work at our site, but we took the laptop down to a bench outside the office and got a weak signal. Would never stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Rustic campground in the pines. Stayed near the back of the park so I had to traverse the incredibly rough dirt roads to get here. If you get a site closer to the entrance, it is okay. The people were friendly and helpful. It can be tough turning left on to the highway due to traffic. It is pretty far of the freeway, too. All-in-all it is better than average but not very convenient for a stopover (which is why I was there). We camped here in a Motorhome.
Wow, I just can not believe the negative review! I have just spent a week at Kit Carson and it was a WONDERFUL experience! The rustic park is in the pines, the site was very neat and clean, and the manager in the office went out of her way to be helpful. She was a very cheerful, friendly and kind person. Our experience there was very positive, and the park is just beautiful! We camped here in a Motorhome.
We knew we wanted to escape the heat this summer and thought what better place than in the cool Ponderosa Pines of Flagstaff, Arizona. One of my brothers lived in the area for awhile and loved it. Some very good friends of the family had stayed at Kit Carson RV Park and had very nice things to say about it. Our reservations were made during winter for a June through August stay. We're now three weeks into our stay and have not had a single positive experience with the park. Hang onto your RV's steering wheel, here's where it starts to get ugly. After pulling into the site and setting-up we were shocked, no pun intended, to discover that the site only has 30 amp electrical service. When making the reservation we specifically requested a 50 amp site. On check-in day we once again received assurance that the site has 50 amp electrical service. When we confronted the Manager about the discrepancy she replied, "I'm legally blind, I made a mistake." She and her sidekick, proceeded to get nasty with us when we expressed our frustration with the situation. We agreed to try the site and see if it would work-out, if not, they would refund our money. Our mail (like most full-time RVers) follows us from our home state to wherever we happen to be. Everyday for 8 days we checked with her to see if she had made a mail key for us. On the ninth day the heavens moved her to get the job done. Each day we checked with her we received a new sarcastic, nasty excuse. The bulk of our mail arrives by Fedex on Tuesdays. Tuesday, June 17, 2008 we arrived at the office to collect our mail only to discover the office was closed while they went to a doctor appointment. We continued to check back throughout the day until 5:00pm. The office never opened. We were unable to retrieve our mail until Wednesday morning. Instead of an apology from either one of them, we received a snide remark. Later in the day after checking the Fedex website I found that our mail had been left outside the door of the office which sits on Route 66. Dumping waste tanks is one of the not so pleasurable but necessary evils of a life in an RV. Early in the evening on Friday, our "black" tank was full: it was time to do the deed. Immediately I knew we had a problem. Waste water, raw sewage, was leaking from around the hose that coupled to the parks sewage system. The situation grew worse very quickly: I won't gross you out with further details. I flagged down my parents and asked them to help. My mother found our family friend who tried to find staff from the park to help, no luck. We got the situation under control as best we could and I placed an urgent phone call to the office. I left a voice mail explaining the situation but was disappointed that there was no "in case of emergency" contact information offered. Eventually the Manager's home was found and she said she would alert the caretaker. We didn't hear from anyone Friday evening. When the office opened Saturday morning my parents were there to discuss the situation with the Manager. She informed them that the situation would not be corrected until Monday when the plumber would be out. They asked about getting someone out over the weekend but she told them that wasn't going to happen. My Father told her that he was sure the Health Department would have something to say about that. She replied, "Do what you have to do." It's Sunday morning as I write this: we're still leaking raw sewage. Rules of the park are unenforced. The "management style" is neglect. Several of the park models have tarps erected at various places that make the place look like a refugee tent city. There is no enforcement of site decoration rules. Loud dogs are commonplace. Many sites have more than two dogs (the limit imposed in the rules). Gatherings at campsites are very large and inconsiderate of the noise they create for neighbors. Kit Carson RV Park offers a beautiful setting in the Ponderosa Pines of Flagstaff, Arizona. It also offers the most unfriendly, uncaring, rude, ineffective, and inefficient management I've ever encountered in any business. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Camped at the end of season. Absolutely great place. Pine trees, beautiful dry Arizona weather, cool nights and warm days. If your idea of the perfect place to camp is someplace up in the mountains with the smell of pine trees and very quiet - this is it. Clean, well maintained, a few pull through sites available. Most sites you will need to level. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice, clean flush toilets and showers. Paved roads and sites with table, fire ring, and BBQ grill. No charge dump station and water supply for paid campers. Rate is with Golden Age Pass. Half of sites can be reserved; first come sites fill up nearly every day, so come early! We camped here in a Motorhome.
Pinegrove is one of our favorite places. Lots of shade from the numerous Pine trees, easy to access level sites, and the sites can be reserved. Various hiking trails and fishing close by. It is only open between May - Oct and a favorite place for people wanting to get away from the heat as the campground is at approx. 7000 elevation. It would rate a 10 if it had full hook ups. It does have an easily accessible dump site, clean flush toilets, and showers. It is managed by US Forest Service Paid Volunteers (camp hosts). Most of the time these hosts are friendly and helpful and check on visitors regularly, however this stay the camp hosts were unfriendly and avoided contact. You had to hunt them down to get any assistance at all. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is a National Forest Campground maintained by volunteer concessionaires. They were very friendly and prompt when campground or visitor attention was required. There are no hookups and generator quiet hours are from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m., but there is fresh water for tank filing and a convenient dump station. There are many lakes, trails, and sites to see within a minutes by car. I have found a new favorite campsite! We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very scenic and quiet spot, located on the Bonito Lava Flow just outside Sunset Crater Natl Monument. All paved spots, some back-in and some pull-offs. Most seemed small to medium size. We took one of the longer pull-offs and needed it all for our truck and 23 ft trailer. Park had just opened for the season, so one of the 3 restrooms was still closed, but midweek this was no problem. Totally dry camping, with no cell signal whatsoever. Limited water, so they ask that you not fill RV tanks. We enjoyed the peace and quiet, as well as Sunset Crater and the Wupatki ruins. Rate reflects Senior Pass rate. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
A great place. Ranger programs weekend evenings. All paved roads and sites. Hosts extremely helpful and they enforce the rules, which are simply common sense. Rate reflects Golden Age Pass. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very simple park, good for a couple of nights. It rained on us both days but they are in monsoon season, so it was to be expected. The hosts were very helpful. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Forget the Parking lot RV parks and stay here if you are in the area. This is a beautiful place in the huge pines of Flagstaff AZ. Restrooms are clean and there are 3 of them, no showers. Large spaces for tents or RV's. No hookups, water or dump that I saw, so come ready, and enjoy the quietest night of your life, breath in the pine scented forest, take the short walk to the Sunset Crater NP Visitor Center adjacent to this campground. I just love this place. The price of $9 is senior rate, normally it is $18. With the exception of the tall pines, everything here looked very new. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This camp is in the Coconino National Forest. To add to the previous reviews, this is a lovely sylvan camp, well maintained, with helpful hosts. There are around 15 pull-through sites and a few are set up for wheelchairs. We enjoyed the drive and photography opportunities in Wupatki National Monument, as well as into Flagstaff Old Town. We would definitely return. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a great "dry camping" type campground in the cool pines. Located about 10 miles north of Flagstaff on Hwy 89. Campground is adjacent to the Sunset Crater Visitor Center. The $9 rate reflects Golden age pass otherwise $18 night without the pass. Sites and roadways are all paved. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is a beautiful, well maintained National Forest Service Campground adjacent to Sunset Crater Volcano and Wupatki National Monuments. Sites are very large with lots of space between them. There are pull-along sites for very large rigs. Restrooms only, no showers. Ice and firewood are available. Good paved roads; concrete paths to restrooms and around picnic tables. Across road from Sunset Crater Volcano Visitor Center (16 miles north of Flagstaff on US-89). We camped here in a Motorhome.
We hate pine trees! They are continuously dropping needles, branches, & chunks of bark. The wind started up early this morning and we were rudely awakened by tufts of needles, pine cones & branches pelting our 5th wheel. Pine needles were everywhere stuck in strange places in our truck & 5th wheel. I would not want to be in this camp when it rains because all sites are dirt consisting of a red dusty powder which would turn into a sticky red mud when wet. The sites tend to be small in width and length. When we opened our slides, we hung over the site next door and re-parking would not have helped. The office staff were friendly and helpful! Our cost was $31/night with the standard 11.4% tax added on - ouch! AZ will tax you to death! The camp is located close to town to take advantage of shopping and dinning. We had no road noise at night as were were in the middle of the park. Free WiFi was not available except near the office. If I was in the area again, I would find a different RV camp to stay in. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Very nice quiet park in tall pines just west of downtown Flagstaff. The park is a little old but had everything we needed for a overnight stay on our way to the Utah National Parks. Park provided an escort to out large pull-through site (it would be hard to find without escort). Our site was at the back of the park and we did not have any road noise or railroad noise - we also did not have any Wi-Fi. The park is very close to downtown Flagstaff and the University and all of the bars and restaurants. We would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This campground is close to the highway so expect some road noise. There was construction going on out towards the highway so we heard a lot of that also. The people working there are real nice and eager to help with directions or town info. The Wi-Fi was not good out in the camping area so we had to go sit up close to the main building. The roads inside the campground must have experienced a big rain storm as the ruts were hard to maneuver without a big jolt. We had to attach our tow car out at a nearby gas station because of the ruts. I would probably not stay here again due to the road conditions in the park. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Overall a good park, very woody location which was pretty, but made for extremely narrow sites and close turns. It is on the west side of Flagstaff, a good place to day trip to Walnut Canyon, Sunset Crater, Wupatki, and Montezuma's Castle. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very tranquil park with lots of trees (read poor satellite reception). Very dog friendly with acres of wooded area for them to explore and try to chase squirrels. Convenient to town and the I-17 to Phoenix. Fairly level sites and helpful office staff. Will stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is an older family campground. With convenient access from Business I-40/ Historic U.S. 66. The site was reasonably level, and had a picnic table. It was dusty. We enjoyed our stay here, and would probably stay here again if we come this way. It was less expensive than the "Resort" campgrounds with loads of amenities that we don't usually use anyway. We would have rated it higher if they had 50 amp power and cable TV. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Laundry is a bit more expensive than most places. Wi-fi is only available if you sit in the ‘internet café’ (office area) or maybe sites near the front. That’s a big pain. TV antennae reception and phone service is fairly limited due to all the trees. Otherwise, this has nice level spots under the large trees and is a quiet park. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Lovely shaded sites in a nearly empty RV park. Piney woods. No hassle about changing sites to get out of the middle of the park and move to the back. Pull-throughs. Very quiet. Clean restrooms. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
GREAT STAFF!!! We will stay here again. We were close enough to the Grand Canyon but not in the heart of all the traffic. Has super clean nice showers and restrooms for a campground. If you are looking for all the entertainment of a big city, then stop camping and get a hotel or stay at a KOA. But if you want to be surrounded by nature and great people stay here. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Does have trees. Mostly has lots and lots of red dust. However, the same is true of most campgrounds in this area. If you have a dog, it will get covered in the red dust. Not really a destination park. OK for overnight. We looked at the other park, which has crushed gravel sites and roads; however, it was full. We would not stay in this park again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is the best park in this area if you are self contained. Staff was friendly, and we were led to our site. There is a little "grill" but we did not try it. Internet worked great on our card, and TV was OK on antenna, even under all the trees. The showers and laundry are adequate but unappealing. But in Flagstaff to barely hear the trains is a big plus. And we weren't washed away in the monsoon rains. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Overall this is an OK park. Nothing fancy for sure, but the basics are covered. It's a heavily wooded area, dirt roads and patches of what appear to be natural ground cover. I tend to appreciate the more rustic parks, so this wasn't really a problem. Yes, was VERY dusty and that dust turns to mud VERY quickly with even the smallest amount of water, so plan accordingly. The roads inside the campground are poorly marked and very tight. It seems as though the owners made every effort to leave as many trees standing as possible when creating the roads. This provides for a very nice environment, and lots of shade but it makes getting around the park very difficult. So, there's the trade-off I guess. Unless you are aided by a pack of illuminated bloodhounds, I would NOT suggest arriving here after dark. Sites are also VERY poorly marked (at night anyway) and we made at least 3 trips up and down every road before we found our site. Then we ended up pulling in to the site next to ours thinking it WAS ours and then had to back out and pull in to the correct one. The park was VERY full on the Holiday weekend and combined with how tight the spots and roads are, it made for a very cluttered park. Cars and huge trucks EVERYWHERE. All in all, this was a OK park, as I mentioned. We have a 35 foot Class-A and getting around the park was tight, but doable. I would drop your toad if you have one though. The staff is VERY friendly and helpful, the cliental here seem super nice. Everyone had nice, well kept rigs. It seems like a lot of regulars here. Fun group this weekend. We would come back and, in fact, made reservations for 2 weeks from now to return. We camped here in a Motorhome.
A pleasant enough campground, with the exception of the surly woman who started our registration by informing us that there was no 50 amp for our motorhome. She handed us off to a gentleman who was very nice and completed our registration and led us to our campsite. Nice pine trees all around, but lots of dust. If you're just stopping for the night to watch TV, go elsewhere. Antenna picked up 3 stations and 2 were in Spanish. No cable TV. Wi-Fi is there but apparently only works at the front of the park. The electrical could use some work, our circuit didn't even have a breaker. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This park is well maintained, has dirt/gravel roads and sites, and lots of trees: just what campgrounds should be like. has a very helpful and friendly staff. Office has a small store with snacks, drinks, and a sitdown sandwich shop. Hosts take you to a site. Can have full hookups, electric and water, electric only, or no hookups (but no generators allowed in this park). We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We spent four days here and really enjoyed our stay. Very remote feeling but you are less than 3 miles from the University and town. The shower, bath and laundry facilities are clean and functioning but old and worn. Utilities at the sites we saw were installed and working properly. Most of the sites require some leveling of your rig. Wi-Fi is free at the store/office along with very good and very cheap coffee! The staff were very friendly and helpful and escort you to your site. I would like to get in a "plug" for the Flagstaff RV Service Center near the mall north of town. We had a water line problem and these folks helped us out, not even charging for some small parts we needed. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This park might have been a good park in it's day. That time has passed. Many of their electrical connections are broken and laying on the ground with exposed wiring. They have no water pressure. There was a significant amount of garbage laying around. We would NOT stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We have stayed here many times over the past few years. We love the heavy trees and sounds of Elk in the woods. The most friendly staff who always escort you to your site. This time we experienced something new. We all know there are some real bad people in the world but rarely a real bad RVer. We woke up to find some one stole our waste hose. Talk about low lifes. But it was a one time incident. I would go back again and again. Try the Campus Cafe in town. Great coffee drinks, great breakfast and lunch too. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed at this campground due to the reviews I had read on this site before our trip. The staff was very friendly and they escort you to your site. You can even have pizza delivered to your camper! Can't comment on showers as we did not use them and can't comment on the pool as we did not see it. We would stay again for sure. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
I consider Woody Mountain more of a campground than a RV park, which is what we prefer. We stayed for 9 days/8 nights. It is rustic, with soil/cinder sites, and it is forested. This was our base for exploring Flagstaff, Oak Creek Canyon, Sedona, the Grand Canyon, Walnut Canyon, Sunset Crater, and Wupatki National Monument. We will make it a point to stay here again when we are in Flagstaff. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
I have read the reviews of this campground. This is Arizona. There is little grass and lots of dirt and sand. This park is like being in the mountain area. Lots of pine trees, roads are dirt and rain washed. Sites are not very level. You have to drive through carefully because of the trees. Tried to get a local tv station. Could only get one and it was fuzzy. Our biggest problem was the 7,600 ft. altitude. We were not use to the thin air and had to leave after the first night. We were going to stay for 3 nights but they gave us back our fee for the other 2 nights. This is not a Resort. It is more like being in the sticks and not for everyone. The people are great. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
I read so many complaints about the red dust. It never even dawned on me. My only problem was the tiny pebbles that managed to stick to your sneakers and get inside our MH. I agree with everyone they are all very very friendly. This was our second stay there. That construction in the back has been stalled for the past 2 years so there is no noise back there anymore. The trees and rustic feel is part of the experience. Clean fresh cool air and you will hear the Elk roar back in that forest. Oh and they have AZ lottery there too ! We camped here in a Motorhome.
Positives: friendly staff, pool (small), trees, big sites Negatives: red dust everywhere, no wi-fi or cable, highway re-construction going on right behind the campground. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Staff was friendly and did escort us to our site. It is not paved and there was a lot of red dust all over everything. Some of the sites are very hard to get into and a few of the roads were tricky getting around on, due to severe wash outs. They said the pool was heated, but that is questionable. Overall the park is a little run down and could use some upgrades. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The desk person at this campground was very friendly. Great place to spend a couple of days. The sites were close but no problems. No train noise which is important for the area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
The staff at this campground were very friendly and helpful. They had a pool and a store. Some of the sites were close together. We felt we were a little close on one side. On the other side was an rv that stayed there from March to October and they had set up fountains, canopies, wildlife statues, you name it! Only thing missing was a pink flamingo. The campground was heavily wooded and there seemed to be a fine coating of red dust everywhere. That might have been natural or it might have been due to the fact that a forest fire had been put out right across the street from them the previous week. We stayed there a couple of days and I was ready to leave because I was really sick of that fine red dust! If they had gravel sites, it would have been much better. I might look around for something better but would stay there again if everything in the area had that red dust. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a nice park. It is rustic, with gravel sites, no patios, but you would expect that in Flagstaff. It is up amongst the pine trees. People are friendly, you are escorted to your site. The staff monitors the campground continuously, which I assume is for safety of your property. It is on Route 66, and out of the busy downtown area. Close to an I-40 exit, but off of the Interstate enough that you don't hear it. You do hear the trains coming and going, but no whistles to scare you out of a sound sleep. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We were only going to stay a couple of nights but when we set up our site with the wonderful smell of the pines and the beautiful weather we decided to stay a week! There is lots to do on day trips- Oak Creek Canyon Scenic Drive(WOW!) into Sedona,Gorgeous Sedona, The GRAND Canyon, and four national monuments. The sites are hard packed red dirt, fairly level and shaded by Ponderosa pines. The staff is wonderful, friendly and very helpful. We loved this park! We camped here in a Motorhome.
Quiet campground on the edge of town. The sites are dusty and close together. Water is trucked in, so they ask you to be considerate. Our outside flow restrictor was dripping, so someone came along and shut off our water, without telling us! Otherwise, everything was fine and we would stay here again, but probably only as a stopover, even though the Grand Canyon and other notable sites are nearby. Staff was friendly and helpful, at the campground and with local information as well. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
If you like a park that is very old and rustic, dusty and not maintained very well, then this is the place for you! Way too much dust. We were there 3 days and although they do use an old water truck to wet down the roads, they never once came down the road we were on. There is a new housing development just starting to be built at the rear of this campground and the heavy equipment started in at 7am and continued all day. It appears that the owners are just waiting for the right offer from a developer to sell to as the maintenance is very lacking. Will not stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Interior roads and sites are dirt, some roads are deeply rutted. The bathrooms/showers were dirty with mud and overflowing trash cans. The mens restroom was virtually flooded from a roof leak. The swimming pool was filled with grey/green water. Some minor train noise. Site themselves are fairly level with lots of pine trees around. The campground is quiet and a great basecamp for day trips to Sunset Crater and Wapatki National Monuments. The office staff was very helpful and gave us lots of very useful literature. Next time though, if it were open, I would stay at Bonito campground (no hook-ups) at Sunset Crater National Monument. Driving through we saw that the sites were level and spacious and although Trailer Life says no slides for this campground there is plenty of room. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Dirt roads and sites, very shaded, even some trees could go to make access better. I had to pull through the site across from mine to leave. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is a very nice, quiet secluded, and rustic campground in W. Flagstaff, even though it
is only 2 mi. from I-40, exit 191 on Old Rte 66. All roads/pads are dirt/gravel with fairly level pads. The park is maze-like and confusing in its layout, but all rigs are escorted to their sites and once you know your way around, it's kind of neat! The management is very camper-oriented and friendly. There many restrictions, but the pluses far outweigh the minuses.(For example, the water is very good, but they truck every drop in, and they want you to conserve. They are strict, but they are polite, friendly, and will work with you on most issues. They are very "homey" but they are professionals, and they will provide you with info, directions, maps/ and whatever else you require, in order to insure that your camping experience is positive. They have the following conveniences/facilities: heated outdoor pool, campstore w/limited groceries/rv supplies, deli, lounge, tours, hiking area, movie rental arcade games, adult room, rec room, playground, horseshoe pits. excellent central base for exploring flagstaff area, Grand Canyon National Park, and Sedona-to Prescott tour. The park is very dark at night, due to minimal lighting throught, so those checking in after dark should have two-way radios and a good flashlight/lantern on hand when they arrive. We found this to be an excellent experience and we(me/61, her/51), will definitely stay here again, as we have not yet even seen nearly all this part of Az. has to offer, and this park is the spot for us! We were here in a Class "A" in 2004. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Decided on this park due to previous two reviews and we are very happy. Compared to the KOA it was so easy to drive to our site without all the obstacles. Nicest folk we've ever talked to on the phone or with at the front desk. Park is very neat and organized. Sites of all sizes even accommodating big rig with trailers behind. Even though heavy with pine trees we managed to find a satellite signal. Comfortable space between rigs. Quiet. Nice little pool. Nice little sandwich shop in the efficient camp store with very generous sized $5 sandwiches. If I need to stay in Flagstaff, this would be the choice. We camped here in a Motorhome.

One of the few heavily wooded campgrounds that can comfortably fit large rigs. Camp sites are large and for the most part level. Very quiet. Closed in the winter. We camped here in a camper.
