We stayed here for a week while preparing my husband's mom's home for sale, and we were pleasantly surprised. We had a great view of the lake. There was a nice beach, marina and store. The property was clean. Unless you're a fisherman, there isn't a lot to do in this area, but I would recommend this campground for an overnight stay. There's a dump station that is locked, so be sure to ask for hours of operation, if you plan to check out early. Three things we didn't care for: there are separate small fees for pets, the beach, extra people, etc. The owners allow their dogs to roam free onto the campsites and they don't pick up their excrement immediately, if at all. And it takes a bit of effort to reach someone to make reservations. Very friendly and I would stay here again if I were passing through this area. The web site shows lots of pictures of fish and doesn't do justice to the property (unless you're a fisherman). The lake is large. Note: don't confuse the town of Horseshoe Bend with the state park with the same name. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This campground is in a small town. It is great for a night stop over. The sites are gravel. The staff was helpful, and the shower and bathrooms were spotless. This campground is about 5 years old. I will stay there again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
