A small park with some great shade trees when it's really hot (cedars). Cool in the mornings when camped under those trees. The finest water you'll find anywhere! People come there to fill up their water jugs. There is a sani dump available, that pretty much everyone uses, even locals that aren't camping. The bathrooms are kept clean...the showers in the back are very old and desperately need upgrading. If you intend to use them you would be advised to wear thongs. Try not to end up here on a Friday or Saturday night, in particular. If the local hoodlums show up you won't sleep very well. They drink, smash and burn picnic tables, try to burn trees, break off door handles at the bathroom, etc. The park keeper that lives nearby - him and his wife are/were super!)is powerless to control them, and he was beaten up by them in 2011. I have been coming into this area since 1982 and nothing has changed. The police (R.C.M.P.) are about 30 miles away in Nelson (through the night). They know all about it, as does the administration in the village of Salmo. In summary: usually a fine shaded place to camp weeknights and to fill up on water, and to the use sani dump. Lots of room for the kids to run around: swings, bars. We camped here in a Tent.
