Agua Caliente is a very peaceful, desert location (except for the helicopter training) if you want to be a remote location. We had a great hike on the Moonlight Canyon Trail. But the park is easily an hour from the Anza Borrego Visitor Center and from Julian. We had absolutely no cell reception (Verizon). In order to do an on-line reservation we could not select a 50 amp site although new power pedestals were going in with 50 amp service. We found the sites quite unlevel (our front tires were off the ground) We also would recommend approaching the park from I-8 if there is a choice. especially with a bigger rig. We camped here in a Motorhome.
But for the heat this is a very nice park. It is a seasonal campground that closes at the end of May and reopens in October. Late spring can be as hot as any summer day at this park, as we found out the hard way. We arrived late Friday night expecting the daytime temp to be around 80 or so degrees the next day. How wrong we were. We went on April 20 and the daytime high the next day was about 114 degrees. We decided this was much more than we bargained for and so we left. Aside from the heat this early, the park is a desert hot spring with three pools. One of the three is exclusively adult use only, I don't know the reason for this but no funny business or anything like that. The campground is well maintained with paved roads right up to the camp site with dirt/sand camping pads. There are both full hook up and primitive sites and everything in between. If you expect to be able to get a cell phone signal don't bank on it, you are isolated and the only connection to the world is a pay phone at the registration office. I went here visiting from memories of my youth when my folks used to take us there, I just don't remember the heat. Anyway, if you are going to visit this campground I think it could be much more enjoyable during the cooler times of the year unless you are just a die-hard and it doesn't matter. There were plenty of those out there too that just enjoyed their time no matter the heat. I will visit this park again but when it is much cooler. Last thing that is a little misleading, this park is actually in the city of Julian not Borrego Springs which is about 20 miles North of Agua Caliente though they are both considered the Anza Borrego Desert. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Agua Caliente is a beautiful park in a beautiful desert! The rangers and camp hosts are wonderful, welcoming and helpful. The sites all seem to be very large. We were in a back-in spot at the end and rear of the park and our backyard was a gorgeous stretch of desert and a mountain peak behind that. You are surrounded by nature and there are many trails and hikes to take in the park and also in Anza-Borrego S.P. We had no TV, no cell reception, no Internet, and couldn't have cared less. The beauty is outside and that's were we stayed. The "Hot Springs" spa is chlorinated so it kind of ruined the "natural" part of having the spa. And the only other bothersome thing is the nearby El Centro training center for helicopter pilots who did land/takeoff drills for several hours two nights in a row, right across the highway. It was loud and very annoying but not the park's fault. Other times it was so quiet you could hear the coyotes, the owls, the quail, and even a pin drop! Peaceful!!! I would imagine if you had kids there, you'd have to be pretty careful keeping an eye on them. The "big" pool was freezing cold and I did not assess the "children's pool" so amusement might be an issue for small kids. But us two grown-ups LOVED the park and can't wait to return! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We stayed here in our first trip with our new trailer. It was a great park for the kids with tons of rocks to climb and hiking to do. Our spot was very long and wide so we had plenty of space to stretch out. I noticed that not all of them are that big, so we got lucky. The campground has 3 pools, but only 2 that the kids can go in. The small kiddie pool was the only one warm enough (because of the hot spring) to go into at that time. I know the indoor adult pool was plenty warm. At night the stars are amazing and the frogs are super loud if you walk by them. There are only tents sites near the frogs, so any rv/trailers wouldn't be near the noise. It's pretty cool to hear, though. The bathrooms are fine, fairly clean and kept up. There is a tiny store with most anything you'd need out there located right at the entrance of the campground. It's completely in the middle of nowhere, so don't expect to be in downtown Julian just because that's the address. A nice park for the winter time and very affordable! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We loved our week-long stay at Agua Caliente. This park offered us the perfect blend: camping, hiking and kicking back in the hot spring. Also warm sunshine in February wasn't bad either. This is a well-run park. We were here over a weekend that was fully booked and things seemed busy, but still nice. The hot spring facilities are clean and well cared for. There is a great deck outside for sunning and socializing. I think there are many volunteers who work hard to make this park a pleasure. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Fairly nice park for the desert. It was nice to have full hookups, however, water pressure was a bit low. Our campsites were quite spacious. Hot springs were OK. Spent most of our time in the kiddie pool, as the temperature was great. Bottom of that pool was quite rough for my 2 year old son's feet. Hot pool was not very clean and chlorinated. Cold pool was very clean, but quite cold. We camped here in a Motorhome.
If you are choosing a location based on being family friendly, this is not the location for you. My family along with 4 other families with 11 children (total) ranging from 2 - 9 years old camped there over Martin Luther King weekend. Upon arrival at 6:30 p.m. we were told to keep it down, they could "hear children running around and laughing". I told the Ranger that it was my understanding that quiet time started at 10 p.m. She said that it was but that this camp ground was oriented to Seniors. Throughout the 3 day weekend we had several visits from Rangers and seniors living at the park which made it very uncomfortable at times. This group has 3 teachers and an engineer as well as other professionals so it is not a clueless group of adults. I rated this place a 7 because of the access to the Palm Canyon Waterfall hike and the Slot Canyons we had access to as well as the wonderful visitors center that had an amazing hands on kids area. I would probably find another camp ground close by next time and avoid this one. We camped here in a Motorhome.

About 15 sites that can handle a 40' motorhome gracefully. Long desolate drive to get there, but it is desert camping after all. Closed during summer months. Only complaint is that although there is available manpower and equipment (small tractor), many sites are so uneven that your jacks cannot level your RV out. Interesting hot water spas. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Large park in a desert location (closed during summer months). Hot tubs available but often crowded. Nice hiking in nearby hills. Some 'private' spaces and lots of 'no privacy' spaces. We camped here in a Truck Camper.
This is a nice campground for those that like desert camping. It has some semi-challenging
hiking trails. It is not pet friendly and, although it allows children, there are strict rules about the hot springs pools. The playground that they advertise is a disgrace. I would recommend more for couples or adult groups than for families. Be aware that if you camp during poor weather that includes wind, you can experience HUGE wind gusts. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

This was way too primitive and desolate for our taste. We endured a wind storm that made us abandon our trailer in the middle of the night because it was lifting up off of its jacks. The kids were not allowed in the indoor pool and the outdoor pool was closed during our stay. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
Beautiful desert setting with a pool and hot springs spa; closed in summer. Park has some full hook-up sites which is a bit unusual for a San Diego county park. Our gravel site #67 was level, very wide and sufficiently deep for our 30 ft class A and tow. Website cautions that some sites are not entirely level and suggests leveling aids. Trees and shrubs provided some shielding from neighboring sites on our row but not all sites have greenery. We enjoyed the hiking trails and the views you could get from above the park. Pay showers. Dump station well situated. We would love to stay in this nice quiet park again particularly in the spring when wildflowers are in bloom. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is actually a beautiful park with a lovely campground - full of cacti and the spaces are level - and the restroom facilities are outstanding. There are also several great hikes you might want to do here. BUT -- if you are an RV owner and have a dog, beware - the Park Police at Anza Borrego will cite you for leaving your dog unattended in your vehicle, regardless of outside temperature or how short a time you are gone. We are rating it a 4 because of the behavior of the State Park Police. Since this park makes it so difficult to enjoy the outdoors if you are a dog owner, we suggest you drive through, enjoy the sites from your vehicle, and keep on going. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We were here April 26, and it was quite hot still. Unfortunately our Rooftop AC decided to fail too. Next year we will try to come in March when they said it is possible to get the wildflowers. The campground is great. Most sites are pull-throughs. Relatively flat too which makes for good bicycle riding for the kids. It said shaded sites are available, but I did not see any unless you count the palm trees. This is typical California High desert. You get a few bushes and cactus and maybe a few palm trees. The visitor center was nice, well done and air conditioned. We didn't get a chance to do any of the hikes. Next time.... We camped here in a Motorhome.
We were here for 3 days and were lucky enough to get a site without a reservation. We could only check in for 2 days at a time and you have to renew every two days if you can. When we got there the first night we couldn't get a site and went back outside of town to Pegleg Road where we were able to boondock for one night, then we were able to get in the campground. The campground is very nice, palm trees everywhere, and you're right in the middle of the desert. Sunrise/sunsets are spectacular and the park is really quiet. Borrego Springs is a "dark sky" town so you can really see the stars at night. I think if I go back, which I will, I'd try to get one of the dry sites in the upper canyon, numbered 90 and above, since in a motorhome we can go dry for several days and use their water and dump stations. No matter where, it's a super campground. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Great park. Level paved sites with awesome views both day and night. Sites are somewhat close, but have seen much worse. Lots of hiking and sightseeing in area. Would go back. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Great place and we look forward to coming back. Wonderful RV park and great state park. Earlier statements said there was W-iFi there; this is not true. But you can go 2.5 miles into town to Calico's for great coffee and goodies and get on there. Or just use it without buying anything. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Have stayed in this park a number of times and always enjoy it. State staff and volunteer hosts are friendly and efficient. I do wish that the staff would clean everyone elses junk out of the fire pits out between stays. Other than that, everything is very clean. AT&T Wi-Fi is available with their pay for use service, signal is strongest at entry gate. Free Wi-Fi in library parking lot in town. Dark skies and lots of stars to see each night. Many hiking trails are available. Palm Canyon trailhead is right in the campground and is a wonderful 3 mile roundtrip hike to the "Fan Palm Oasis." There is a wonderful visitor's center 7/10 of a mile away which can be accessed by car or a nice paved hiking/biking trail. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We spend three weeks here almost every year for Christmas and New Years. Also occasionally book a space during wild flower season. This is our favorite California State Park. Lots of space between sites and the night sky is spectacular. The little town of Borrego Springs has a market and several good restaurants. The old town of Julian is about 30 minutes away and is fun to visit. If you like driving desert roads, there plenty of trails to travel. Dog friendly providing you keep your dog on a lease and off the hiking trails and open desert. There are hiking trails and a good visitor center. We will return here next Christmas. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Lovely park, nice long pull throughs, spacing between sites was nicely private and well planned. As others have mentioned, the hookups can be in awkward location depending on how you pull in. The biggest complaint I have is that the sewer covers were put in backwards in most spots. Not all, which makes me think the contractor wasn't paying attention or didn't know any better. But if you use a 90 degree elbow connector from your hose to the drain pipe gasket, be prepared to run your hose around to make the bend. Other than that, it was quiet (except for the coyotes!), clean, peaceful, and exactly what we were looking for in Anza-Borrego. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Great location, nice clean park w/ great desert view. Near the small town, hikes, etc. Seems to attract nice campers: interesting, friendly. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We have been camping here several times (most recently this past spring to see the wild flowers) and am thinking of planning another trip. It is "camping" at its best. We don't care that there's no cable TV because we'd rather sit out by the camp fire and look at the night sky. The stars are killer! The sites are decent sized and you don't feel like your neighbors are on top of you. There are some sites where you only have neighbors at the ends of your rig. Those spots mean you may have to run your hook-ups underneath your rig. We love it here because the restrooms and showers are clean; it is quiet; there is great hiking walking distance from camp sites; and it's an easy trip to Borrego Springs if you need groceries, a dinner out OR tons of other great hikes. I am glad this State Park is not on the list of those to be shuttered although some of my other favorites are. I hope every one is being proactive with our state govt. encouraging them to keep the parks open. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
As others have stated, GREAT PARK! Friendly staff, great location, and very nice facilities (we used the full hookup sites but used the very clean dump station even though our site had sewer--it was in an awkward spot). Our only complaint is that our site (and, most other sites from the look of all the leveling devices) was terribly unlevel, front to back. Other than that, nice site spacing and amenities. We don't tow, so we love it when we can set up and then walk to many things. Here, we could take the .6 mile paved trail to the gorgeous Visitor's Center. As we returned at sunset, we saw desert hares, cottontails, and a coyote right along the trail. You can also walk to a variety of other trails, too--the hike up Palm Canyon to the oasis is just phenomenal. This is one CA state park that is very well taken care of and worth the $35/night fee. (And, if you need it, you can get Wi-Fi at the Visitor's Center. Our Verizon card worked at our site.) We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed for the long MLK weekend, late Friday night through Monday morning checkout. The park is very clean and well maintained. Friendly staff and very helpful. One caution, the main road coming in is also the main road to the trail head to the desert Oasis and people coming in do not pay attention to the 15 mph speed limit so if you have kids keep them off of the main road. I mentioned it to the rangers and they posted signs attempting to enforce the speed limit. Didn't notice any traffic after they posted so I don't know if it worked but they made an attempt. Some things I pointed out to my wife is there were no flies that we noticed and ants were only deeper into the campground, we didn't see any at our sight. Some spaces like ours need no leveling side to side others may need a little more work. Each space in the full hookup section is asphalt paved and very roomy. Big rig access is no problem as we saw a 40+ foot motorcoach in there with apparently no problems. I look forward to our next visit! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Borrego Palm Canyon has lots of pull through, full hook-up sites that are plenty long for big rigs and the roads are also suitable for big rigs. Our electrical management system shut us down momentarily several times for low voltage. Ideal location: 1/2 mile trail to the Visitor's Center and other trails, leave from campground. Plenty of space between sites, including a fire pit and picnic table. Sites are paved. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is an awesome place to camp in the desert. Quiet and serene. There is a wonderful visitors center that you can drive or hike to 1/2 mile from the campground. Many places to hike or go 4 wheeling. Was blessed to see 9 Peninsular bighorn sheep, 5 rams and 4 ewes all at the same time while hiking the Palm Canyon trail. There are only 400 left in the US and only 275 in the park. They are on the endangered list, see them while you still can. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Great place! Wi-Fi available through AT&T for $7.95 per day. Visitor Center within walking distance across the desert, .6 mile, on a concrete walk. Beautiful area though a bit cold at night. Rest room very basic with cinder block walls and cement floors. There were paper towels though rather than the usual electric hand dryers. Showers required 25 cents for two minutes. If you depend on GPS for direction enter address as I ended up in another part of the park, some 15-20 miles out of my way. Spaces are pull-throughs and about 30 feet apart with the distance in between sites covered with desert vegetation. Woman at gate was pleasant and helpful. A place certainly worth visiting. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Excellent park with spacious pull-through sites. Rest rooms and showers were the cleanest I've seen in a government-run campground. We will definitely be back. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
There are good paved roads and large paved sites with picnic tables and fire rings. It is quiet. There is an excellent Visitor Center. Be sure to see the slide shows. It is the best place to view night skies. Maintenance has been reduced due to California State Budget cuts. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Our site was a pull-along site on the outside loop of the full hook-hook area. Being parked along side of the road, I was not able to use our awning as it would have projected into the roadway. Other than the awning issue, the pull-along site was roomy and seemed to have a more private feeling than the pull-through sites since there were no rigs to either side of us. The park personnel were very friendly and helpful. If you bring your pets, be advised that dogs are not allowed on any park trail or wilderness area within the park limits. Dogs can only be walked along roadways or within your campsite. Full hook-up sites 30-48 have Palm trees and are the only sites with any shade in the full hook-up area. A very quiet park and I will stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The rate reflects senior discount. As mentioned earlier, sites in the full hook up area can handle big rigs, as they are very long pull through. The few outside spots, as we had, were around the edge of the campground were like scallops and had the hookups curbside, so make sure you're close enough for sewer hookup. Most sites are level, however several seemed to be sloped. It is quiet, very quiet. We went to see wildflowers, and were not disappointed. It was very windy, one of the four days we were there. 40's at night, 60's and 70's during the day. We came in from the west, rte 79 to S22. Very steep, long and windy got me thinking of a brake setup for the toad. The showers and toilets are concrete, walls and floors, and showers cost $. We did not use the facilities. Mama does not like desert, she found it too dirty, but I would go again. Verizon cell and air card access was very good. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We camped here in January 2009 and just loved the area and camp ground. Wow, what a quiet setting in the park. Lots of hikes in the area and there is also dry camping available in this park. Call the park for reservations as the 35 foot maximum length advertised for a rig is wrong, as most of the sites are over 50' long. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Spent the Thanksgiving weekend at this amazing camp ground and while it is a State Park, I was impressed by how well kept the park was and how clean the facilities were. The sites are HUGE with full hookups in the one section. There were many sites available to choose from and my advice to those booking through reserveamarica, call them and find out what sites are available as the website is not always accurate. This is a peaceful place to camp and the stars at night are incredible. The rangers were extremely friendly and helpful and there are great places to hike and also cycle on your bicycle. I'm making it my regular long weekend getaway destination and hope to keep this place a secret. The only issue was that the WiFi obviously was not working as I did not get any signal from my camp site. Then again you do not need to be on the computer when surrounded by such amazing beauty. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Camping here now and using the Wi-Fi from my trailer before bed. The park is clean and eerily quiet for a city dweller. The full hook up spaces are nice but the connections could be better placed. That is my only gripe about the site. Great time of year to visit with weather in the 80's and flowers blooming. Park was sold out so reserve early for this time of year. If the connections were in the middle of the site I'd give it a 9. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Another one of those campgrounds I almost hate to review because it is our favorite spot. The first year we stayed two nights; the second year a week; and this year we will be there for a month. If you get one of the the sites around the edge of the full hook-ups you will face the desert and feel you are all alone in the middle of desert. And once you hike up Palm Canyon and get so close to the Bighorn Sheep that you can almost touch them you will be hooked. This is a special, magical place. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This was a first time trip with a 5 year old boy and all had a super time. It was off season so not crowded at all. We got to pick out our spot. We hiked 2 of the trails over our 3 days and they were fine, even for a 5 year old. The interpretive museum was good too, and you could hike to that from the Palm Canyon campground. We even saw some bighorn sheep, which is a rarity we've heard. Weather was awesome and flowers in bloom. We couldn't have asked for a better time! We camped here in a Tent.
I rated 8, husband rated 6. Great ranger staff, clean, new facilities. We had off-season pick of rather few places for larger RVs, with that fabulous desert-evening quiet. Watched Super Bowl with ease on satellite TV. Rest of RV crowd was at newer resorts in town. Pass by, if in-season, as there are too few level sites for larger RVs, or if you have young kids to entertain, or if you are not into hiking, biking, and just contemplating life. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice campground, the bathrooms and showers were clean. The park rangers were nice and helpful. We were there during the off season and pretty much had the place to ourselves. Looking forward to going back. We camped here in a Tent.
The Managers are what made this experience a good one for us. Their attitude and willingness to let us stay without a reservation during the busiest season even though we had to move sites twice during the month was outstanding. The Park is clean and new laundry and clubhouse are almost finished. Location is great for riding your bike all around town. We made a reservation for the month of March next year. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Rate based on a two week stay. My site was a sand back-in that was almost level. All utilities worked fine. Wi-Fi signal strong and internet connection good most of the time, but slowed down during busy times. Cable TV available for those staying longer than one month. The park is undergoing some improvements. A new clubhouse should be opening soon. The laundry and restrooms are being upgraded. A new entrance to the park will open same time as the clubhouse, but until then use the old entrance. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed at Holiday Homes for 4 winters, 2010/2011 winter being our final visit there. The transition from the previous owner to the new one has been tumultuous and rates have increased substantially. The infrastructure is still mostly 1960s without appreciable upgrades. The new owner has done a lot to clean up the park, electrical/water/sewer hookups are replaced on a "per need" basis. Laundry floods if more than one washer is used and circuit breaker blows if more than two dryers are used. If 50 amp service is not working you have to adapt for 30 amp. Only two bathrooms and one shower per gender; not enough to meet needs. Staff is friendly unless something breaks down, then become contentious. This park used to be a nice, inexpensive place to stay for self-contained RVs. Now rates have increased to the point that it is no longer a good value for the amount charged. There are a great deal of intro-park politics, which we don't like participating in. No one seems to be happy. The park is in a constant state of flux. Recently, before we left, there were three different rate policies in effect with two weeks. The town and park offer a lot of incentives, but this park needs to establish fixed policies and upgrade it's infrastructure before we will return. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
New owners are renovating the park. We are very excited about the upgrades being made. Manager is very friendly and efficient. Borrego Springs is a terrific snowbird destination and the changes to the park will expand the availability for larger rigs. We camped here in a Truck Camper.
Rate given is when staying for a 10 day period. Daily rate $30, weekly $150, and monthly $325. Many seasonal sites. RV sites on the perimeter of a mobile home park. Most of the campsites have room for RV and a towed vehicle. Park now calls itself Borrego Holiday Homes Seniors Mobile Home and RV Park. Cable TV on request from cable company only. Park manager said they are planning on bringing in WI-FI next year. Best sites on west and north sides. Park totally surrounded by the desert. This is an older park and needs some updating. We keep coming back as the cost is reasonable and it is within walking distance of Borrego Springs. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This park is more suitable for snow birds or long term stays. Cable TV has to be applied for through the cable company, so only worth it for monthly stays. Laundry has only 2 washers and 2 dryers. Gets crowded in there! No clubhouse or rec room, but has horseshoes and a group campfire ring. Friendly manager who was very helpful, but if you fill your propane tank here, keep an eye on the gauge. My tank got overfilled by four gallons! Propane price was $2.48 a gallon which was over a dollar cheaper than I paid on the California coast. Open desert behind each site made it easy to hike over to village stores or up in the hills to the south. Nightly rate is weekly rate of $125 divided by 7. The actual daily rate is $30 and monthly $300. Cash or check only. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Rustic campground set on sandy ground with plenty of privacy trees; trees formed almost a complete view block on 3 sides of our site. Very quiet and peaceful with plenty of room to sit out, 8 to 10 ft wide on patio side of rig. All sites are back-in, but staff directs you into your spot and does a good job of it. We pretty much maxed out the site with a 37 foot class A; ladder in back just clear of trees and nose of coach protruding slightly into access road. Unhook any toad before entering campground. Electric OK, enough to run both A/C units. Water pressure low at 25 psi. Sewer run is slightly uphill. WiFi is very limited HughesNet. Basically e-mail and light web browsing. Limited to 6 hours a day and very slow. Clock runs as long as you have a wireless connection to the WAP, so make sure to turn off your wireless radio when not using it. No cell service except within 10 feet of the office. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Stayed here for two weeks (nightly rate reflects a weekly price). Really friendly welcome by staff. Site easy to back into and level up the rig; hook-ups conveniently placed. Site had shade trees all round so felt really private, not like on display as with most campsites. Wished we had found this site earlier. Down side (if this is important to you), site is miles from anywhere in the middle of the desert; fortunately, it was just what we were looking for. Plenty of things to see and do in the desert if that appeals to you. Excellent facility for dog; it is kept really clean as was the whole site. Addition of pool and hot tub in progress, so it will be really good once this addition is completed. We would return again and certainly recommend it; well worth it, good value for money. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
+9 Smooth, dirt back-in; tamarisk trees on both sides provide good privacy. The camp hosts are friendly and helpful, and the park is very well kept, especially the restrooms. The current owners have owned the park for 16 years, and their pride of ownership shows. Very pleasant walk “out back” on desert property almost to the dirt airstrip which the owner uses to land his plane! -1 Downside: needed leveling blocks in front, and some may object to having to walk a short distance to the office for cell phone service. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Excellent RV park. Extremely friendly. Clean showers & laundry room. Rate is for good Sam. Actually located in Ocotilla Wells. Will stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
A great park with lots to do in the area, especially if you like to hike and/or geocache. Remember to take your shower shoe with you, since the floor "mats" are a bit much for my old tender feet. That aside, the staff, hosts and guests are all very friendly. If you like unusual aircraft, you'll enjoy the "Ospreys" making VTOL's at the local "airport". The town shuts down pretty much during the week, but comes alive with man off-roaders on the weekends, due to the OHV park nearby. We'll return here for sure, if we come back to the area. Be sure to check out Font's Point for amazing views of the desert and the badlands. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice sites although a 40+ would have some difficulty getting into most of the sites. All gravel interior but well maintained. Washrooms completely redone and are beautiful. They were in the process of putting in a pool when we were there - still several months away from completion. It was quite a ways from anywhere but a very nice getaway park, we would stay there again. The above rate reflects Good Sam. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a great park. Has wide sites that are secluded from the surrounding sites. Friendly staff. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very nice park with some shade in the desert! Fairly large sites with trees between. Swimming pool and spa are in progress with expected completion 2010. This park is closed June - End of Sept. Very close to the Ocotillo off road area and 15 or so miles from Anza-Borrego state park. About 30 miles from Salton Sea. Laundry area with reasonable rates and very clean. Park owners and staff very friendly and helpful. New Wi-Fi system put in while I was there and it works well. Much better than nearby RV parks, which look like wild west towns. Has a dog fenced area. The bad: could not get cellphone reception on ATT, Verizon, or Sprint. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is a great park. All staff are friendly and easy to work with. The park is in need of cosmetic updating but it's comfortable and has beautiful views. Lots of potential. Nice clean pool & hot tub. Great place for family vacations. Very dog friendly. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is a bank owned property, but check in staff working for the management company and are very nice and helpful. They allowed us to use two back ins as a pull, through. Like the other comments, it is not well maintained. No soap in the bathrooms. No heat in the bathrooms. Paper towel dispenser coming off the wall. Both female and male bathrooms marginal. One of the pools and spa closed. It is convenient to town. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I’d like to give this place more stars because I used to come here in the '90s, before we had an RV, to stay in the hotel. I enjoyed it and have good memories. That was then. Now I think 4 stars is generous. The place has suffered considerably since then, and now it is a picture of deferred maintenance and neglect. It’s sad. It needs a new owner to put a million dollars into it, plow under the campground, and start over. Peeling paint abounds and one walkway is cordoned off because it is too broken to use. It looks like a place that is on the way down and out. First the good points: I think it’s the cheapest place in town (our rate is for a month stay). I thoroughly enjoyed the hot spa each night. The laundry is handy (but small and busy as the entire town uses it since the town laundromat closed). Staff is friendly and helpful. The showers are big and pour out tons of hot water (no low-flow shower heads here). Now the bad: The campground is a huge ugly field of dirt and sand broken only by the last sad remnants of landscaping: dead and dying trees and shrubs. Its just a vast, charmless sea of dirt. When the wind blows the sand sandblasts. (We know: one windstorm removed the paint from the front of our RV and frosted the windshield! And we hate to think what a sea of mud it must be after a rare rainstorm. The ground is badly rutted in places. (I fell while crossing one too slowly on my bike but the gash on my leg healed in a week.) Our plastic picnic table was cracked (most aren’t). There is a water surcharge added to your bill, but ironically one sink faucet ran continuously the entire month we were here. (We reported it twice; it may still be running.) The two swimming pools aren’t heated, which makes them useless in the winter, and there were only two lounge chairs by the Rv'ers pool (bring your own). Wi-Fi doesn’t reach into the campground. The restrooms are cement, 2X4, and formerly painted plywood with no charm and they’re serviced irregularly. (One soap dispenser remained empty for several days). There was dog excrement in our campsite when we pulled in (a negative first impression). Elsewhere I saw the stuff lying in common areas and not picked up for days. In summary, we’re very sorry we stayed here a month (the wind damage was very expensive). We have no intention of ever returning. Stay here if you must, but if a strong windstorm occurs you’ll be very sorry. (Other places in town, including the park campground a mile away, suffered no sandblasting damage.) We camped here in a Motorhome.
Have to agree with other posts that the Campground is in need of upgrading however, that being said, there was evidence of a large amount of landscape cleanup going on (salt cedars getting a haircut on the south side of the park) & the rest room/showers appear to have been spruced up/painted. Restaurant is a hidden gem with wonderful southwest offerings. Front desk staff was very helpful & accommodating; spa was hot - didn't try the pool or laundry. Sites are somewhat uneven on sand but you can wiggle your unit around to make it work. Fantastic location right next to Anza Borrego State Park & 1 mile up the hill from Christmas Circle - the heart of town - where I participated in a bike ride. We also went up to the lovely little town of Julian for some apple cider & pie & were snowed on! Although I would return to the town in a heartbeat (I love all the interesting geologic stuff from Box Canyon to the Salton Sea) I have to admin spouse was not as impressed. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We camped here 3 nights over Easter weekend. We were a family of 4 adults and 2 dogs. We planned on meeting friends for a total group of 15 people for a Saturday night dinner. The hotel was hosting a wedding at the same time, but they were very accommodating in allowing our friends to park in our site and no extra charge for all of the extra people and vehicles. Due to elevated fire risk, we were not allowed to have any open flame, but using our Weber BBQ was OK. I was surprised that they had both grey and sewage hookups available at our site. The showers were very nice and clean. The RV pool and jacuzzi was nice the first night, but after the wedding guests stayed up until 3am partying around the pool, it was looking pretty nasty the next day. I guess there was no curfew for pool use. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. $43 is a fantastic deal compared to the state parks that cost $60 per night near the beaches. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We stayed one night here because the Springs was full and they suggested this. Average campground. We had a spot near the back and it was tight backing in. They have a heated hotel pool which we used and also the hot tub. There are no other activities for kids though. We walked and biked to the visitors center where there is adjacent desert to ride bikes, walk dogs etc. Nice restaurant and store. Front desk was helpful and friendly. They have an amphitheater and a place for fire rings for groups. My motorhome overheated and Tito's in town is a great mechanic and reasonable. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very good location right next to entrance of the State Park Museum, central place to visit. Museum is a walkable distance, but at least 1 mile. The sites are gravel, not paved. There are some trees. Some sites are significantly easier to use for larger rigs, so be sure to ask for one if you are over 25-28 feet. Some 50 amp and some 30 amp. There are extensive grounds with hotel / motel type rooms. Buildings are western style. There is a nice restaurant and bar. There are some meeting rooms which are available for nominal rates. We enjoyed our stay here as part of a small rally. This is a very good park to have that type of function. We stayed here the second week in March, which is just ideal as a time to visit. A beautiful area, with wildflowers this time of year, and also perfect weather. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Easy access from the main highway. Packed sand interior roads with some trees. Maneuvering is tight and spaces are very close. All utilities worked properly. Nice hotel, restaurant and store. the park is located close to all attractions in the area and is a great place for a base camp to explore the Colorado desert area. A short walk to town. The park is usually full on weekends during the "season" and is used by several large groups. There are other parks in the area including the state park; however, this park is the best value for the price. Biking, hiking, 4 wheeling activities, or just gazing at the magnificent desert sky make this a park worth the return. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
A previous review of a person saying: "Nicest commercial RV park ever stayed in," was for wrong park. I suspect it was for the Springs At Borrego which we drove through. The best word to describe The Palm Canyon is average. Sites are close together. Most of park is on a gradual slant that may need some leveling but we didn't for short stay. We had a back-in site against row of trees provided some shade. Some hiking trails behind the park. Short bike ride to SP visitor center or into town in other direction. Clean newly painted restrooms with plenty of showers with looks of more work in progress. Have 2 pools and 2 spas. One is heated but could've been warmer. Pool/spa in need of some resurfacing. Nice exercise equipment as part of hotel that RV guest may use. Advertise having basketball but is located in a parking lot with cars park on court. Have a Sunday food and drink special at Hotel bar where you can get $1.00 burgers or 3 tacos for $2 and $2.00 Margaritas. $5.00 a day for WiFi at site or free in lobby. Over all we enjoyed or stay especially visiting Anza Borrego during one of the better years for wildflower viewing. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Decent park. Can confirm previous posts. Sites are tight and densely packed. Services all worked well. We were there for Thanksgiving and it was pretty crowded. Great weather. Couldn't ask for a better location to access Anza-Borrego SP. Right across the street from the park's main entrance. Riding stables down the street were excellent. Had a dinner in the Steakhouse which was decent but service was s-l-o-w even though it wasn't crowded. I would stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Nice clean park, but the sites are very tight (20X40). Office staff is friendly and helpful. All services were centrally located and worked properly. Bathrooms and showers were large and clean. There is a hotel, nice restaurant and friendly saloon located on the property. We stayed here over the Thanksgiving weekend and almost all sites were filled, but by Monday afternoon the place was almost empty. At times other than a holiday weekend, the park would be very nice. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
In Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. Not actually in Borrego Springs but only about a beautiful 15 minute drive away. Two hiking trails located right outside the gate with some wonderful desert scenery. 27 sites on 10 acres within a grove of Tamarisk trees. Hot showers which you need quarters to use. Restrooms/showers were very clean. Rangers were very friendly. There is a table, shade ramada and a fire pit/grill at each site. Sites are asphalt with dirt surround for tent use. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is the second time we have stayed at this park. We stayed for over 2 weeks. It would be hard to come up with much of anything to complain about. There are long, wide spaces, friendly staff and lots of activities. WiFi was a bit spotty, particularly when the park was full, but the location is so remote, that it is to be expected. Verizon worked well, so we accessed the net using our phone. This park is one we plan to return to frequently. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Without a doubt the nicest park we've seen. Came for a couple of days and stayed a week. Lots to do in the area. Clean restrooms, laundry, and pool/spa. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a true resort, we stayed in the newest section and the spaces are huge. We were traveling with another couple and with the new design we opened to each other. We where on hole 2 of the golf course and the views where stunning. The Camp Hosts are nice and there are a lot of activities. The only down side was the Wi-Fi was spotty, last time we had no problem so could be the new sites. Our 3rd time and we will be back. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Clean, wide spots, easy hookups and well maintained. Quiet hours is just that with amazing views of the stars at night. Great looking 9 hole golf course with a few par 5s. Clean restrooms and showers at the rec center and many activities (concert, ice cream social and taco bar when we were there). They have new Prime spots overlooking the golf course that can be a pull in or back in so if you come with another RV you can have the area in between open to both doors. Beautiful views of the mountains. I would recommend coming in from the Salton Sea (Indio side) if coming from OC/LA or Riverside. I am not sure of the mountain road from the west as I have heard that it is kind of "hairy" (as told by one of the camp hosts). It will be very hot during the summer, so I will be back in the late fall, winter or spring. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very nice park. Not too busy in May, but they still had many organized activities (e.g., water arobics and a wine tasting). The nine hole par 36 golf course on the property was $25/walking after 12:30pm and fairly nice. Plenty of room for a big rig. Given my golf swing I wouldn't suggest parking your rig with a golf course view on hole 2. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Truly an Oasis in the Desert Community of the Anza Borrego Desert. This RV Park is simply spectacular and truly a high end resort with all the amenities one would expect. This RV Resort has added an entertainment venue for its guests that features different singing groups from around the area. It also has added a brand new section of the RV Park that has expanded its RV Sites. If golfing is your thing then this Park is the place to be to swing a few rounds with its gorgeous greens with gorgeous views of the Anza Borrego Desert skyline. Be sure to try the local cuisine; especially the Italian restaurant at the local Borrego airport. A great place to eat with a huge window pane view of the Anza Borrego desert in its Cocktail bar section. This RV Park also has great Jacuzzi's with fresh spring water to relax those sore golfing shoulders after those rounds of golf there at their resort. Swim in their sparkling blue pools and relax and catch those rays of sun. A Great RV Park that will simply amaze you and love. We camped here in a Motorhome.
What a great place! We came as a group so we received a group rate. Even at full price, this is definitely worth the price. The golf course is wonderful, the pools and spa are clean and hot, laundry rooms are clean and "cool". About the only thing I could ask for is a little lower temperature, but if you're in the desert in April, it's going to be "warm". Our site was clean and the "sand" beyond the concrete pad was raked and debris clean. We were escorted to our site ensuring that we did not protrude into the street. Nice touch. The "camp hosts" were around all the time and while not intrusive, they always wanted to know if there was anything we needed. GREAT PLACE!! We camped here in a Motorhome.
Wonderful pool and spa area. Nice views of mountains surround the park. Friendly and helpful camp hosts, but there were a few issues with this place. The girl who checked us in was very unfriendly, borderline rude. Later that day I was in the store where the check in was and I heard her being very rude to someone on the phone. We had kids and although they took our money and let us stay, it was far from "kid friendly. We smelled sewer off and on the two days were were there, we had to use leveling blocks, and the wifi barely worked. Another weird thing happened. I took a look at their "fitness area" with my 6 yr. old son and the owner followed us in told us a story (in front of my son) of how a kid was just killed by one of these machines. An odd thing to say in front of a child. Weird experience, will not return. I expected a lot more based on the reviews I've read. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We registered for a stay of one week then extended it to stay for a complete month. The facilities and service were fantastic, the best we've experienced in the US. They pick up your garbage at your site, if you walk towards the dumpster (for exercise!) you can bet that someone approaches you in a cart asking to take it to the dumpster for you. They take propane cylinders left beside your site, fill them and return them to you. We arrived just before the new section of sites were opened up and then we moved to a new site after the first week. The new sites are longer and wider than the existing sites (which were about 55 feet long), allowing generous space for the longest class "A" units. I estimate the concrete pads on the new sites to be about 65 to 70 feet long. I didn't include the monthly rate as we moved around the park and renewed a couple of times. We have booked a site for a month next year as we liked it so much. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This park is one of our top 5 in North America. Friendly, lots to do and breathtaking views everyday. This park is almost always sold out except they have recently added 53 new very modern sites. Saltwater pools, individual and group mineral spas, tennis, golf and many events/concerts that are free to RVers, will fill your days and evenings. This is a very high end park nestled in the Borrego Valley which is also known as the "Hidden Desert." High end but not snooty or restrictive. If your camper has wheels you are welcome. The people that run this resort are as real as you can get and think about everything to make your stay a good one. We travel full time for our business and this resorts gets five stars from us. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This park is the nicest one we have encountered so far. There is much attention to detail, such as manicuring the spaces( including sweeping the pads and raking the gravel is zen- like lines!) We were originally put off by the per night charge, particularly for a park in the middle of nowhere, however we plan to return in the future. The swimming pool and salt water hot tubs are wonderful. Even though we are not golfers and do not play tennis, this is a great place for R and R. There is lots to explore in the De Anza Borrego Park and the surrounding area. We will plan for a stay longer than 10 days next year! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
I agree with all the past reviews. It is not a kid's park. It is geared towards the golfer. Quiet almost all the time. Dead quiet after dark. No fire rings at the sites, so no one is outside. It is top pricy for my taste. I am used to $50 max a night. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This was our second visit a year later. Price reflects weekday price and a coupon. Even though we arrived on a weekend with dry spot reserved from being sold out, learned they had an opening for hookups when we arrived, we hesitated but then they were nice to reduced the price. Camp host suggested using a water pressure gauge, I said didn't have one. He then gave me one to borrow another nice jester I thought. Pool area still had the issues as pointed out in previous review by my "pool inspector". Basketball goal net was missing. Other than that park still manicured perfectly. We love this place look forward to return. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The Springs at Borrego can only be described as manicured. It is in the middle of a beautiful 9-hole golf course with nearby mountains that glow in the early morning and late afternoon sun. After a rig pulls out a grounds maintenance team will pull up to clean up the area. The full concrete slab is swept clean. Decorative gravel is raked to remove all traces of someone having walked on it. Parking slabs are for all practical purposes level. All roads at the Springs are asphalt paved. The Springs does not offer a large number of entertainment activities. In that sense it is not a full blown "resort" park. It's for those who want peace and quiet without the hustle and bustle of a "busy" park trying hard to keep you entertained. We spent the Christmas / New Years holidays at the Springs and swung through here again for a day on this most recent road trip. The whole desert area surrounding the park is a relaxing place to spend some time. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very nice park! Well maintained and great staff. Lots of activities and things to do in the resort as well as the surrounding area. Quiet crowd, lots of snowbirds soaking up the sunshine. We have kids and were disappointed that there wasn't a playground. The other bummer is that the pool didn't allow kids that wear swim diapers. Despite these minor gripes we still will come back and gave it a 10 rating. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Very nice small park on beautiful 9 hole golf course. Pads are spacious pull throughs and are kept immaculate by volunteer staff. Showers and washrooms are clean and modern. Pool is a little on the small side. Wi-Fi connections were inconsistent. Large clean laundry room. Friendly staff with daily activities. Very popular in Spring and we have stayed in their overflow lot which has the best view of all spots in the park. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Second time and still a 10: nice staff, friendly people and beautiful park. The golf course is in great shape, it is just a beautiful setting. Will be back next winter. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This was one of the best RV Resorts we have ever been to. The staff were friendly and accommodating. We stayed in a premium site because we pull a 38' fiver and it was easy to get in and out. The amenities are wonderful. Salt water pool was a perfect 80 degrees and the individual (2 person) mineral spas were a treat! We enjoyed the Thursday night wine tasting. This would be a great place for a family reunion. Very kid friendly with the catch and release fishing pond. But not loud and out of control! The town of Borrego Springs is small and quaint, not a lot going on, but the Friday morning farmers market was nice. We ate lunch one day at Carlee's restaurant: the burgers were delicious! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Rate is for "Premium View" site, additional $10/night. Great site, end of row with view of golf course and mountains. But all sites have a nice view, so you could easily skip paying for a premium site. All sites are above average in size, level, paved, with paved patio and table. Paved roads are wide, plenty of room for big rigs. Very quiet day and night. We will definitely come here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This was our 4th RV camping trip. We read RV Park Reviews to get a good idea, and we agree with everyone that this resort is clean, well maintained, and is in a beautiful setting. The RV site was too easy to get in and out (this spoiled us.) We took our 2 grandchildren and they loved the pool, family activities, feeding the fish, and the Anza Borrego State Park. The guests and staff were very courteous and friendly. This resort is small but big on class. We will be back next spring. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Beautiful park, beautiful views of desert, mountains and golf course. Has very friendly, welcoming staff, and wonderful facilities. We have camped from the east coast to the west coast and have many favorite places. The Springs at Borrego is tops. We have stayed here a few times in the last year and look forward to returning. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is our third time staying at The Springs at Borrego RV Resort and Golf Club. We enjoy everything about the place. Definitely RV'ing done right! We camped here in a Motorhome.
Just finished a long weekend at the Springs at Borrego RV Resort in Borrego Springs, CA. We were there in a group of 8 rigs. It was a very enjoyable weekend. All roads are asphalt, all sites are paved concrete with DG sand between sites. Utilities are modern and clean. Nice landscaping with trees and bushes. Lots of fruit trees and you are encouraged to pick what you will eat, but leave the rest for the folks behind you. Great heated pool and hot tubs. Nice clubhouse with party rooms. Group gathering spot on the pond with barbecues and shade. 9 hole championship-length golf course in great condition. Multiple tennis courts. Dry camp overflow area is basically a gravel parking lot. Great off-leash dog park. Free Wi-Fi that worked well for us. Good coverage for Verizon cell and air card. The place is spotless, well managed, great staff, facilities are top-shelf. We will return. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Willingness to pay $27 to dry camp in a area that can be done for free in nearby state park shows confidence in facilities here. Some of the overflow sites have better views than the high priced premium sites but its all gravel and can hear people walking around and of coarse generators running occasionally. We were able to get free Wi-Fi from our spot. Very friendly staff. Well groomed nicely landscaped park with decorative waterfalls. Has nice exercise equipment. Pool clean with perfect temp. Have a large spa plus 3 two person spas that gives a nice personal touch. But were a bit discolored and chipping. Spouse is a health inspector noticed this and other code violations that others probably wouldn't notice in pool area. But it keeps them from getting a perfect score but not keeping us from returning. They also have a discount for 1st time campers. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a beautiful park. The golf course is in great shape and the greens are perfect. The staff is helpful and professional. The only down side is it is hard to get reservations, make yours early!! We were in a 40 footer and it is big rig friendly. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is the best park we have ever stayed in. It is so clean and neatly kept, nicely landscaped. The views are spectacular. The facilities (restrooms, showers, laundry, pool and spas, gathering rooms, computer room) are great. The activities are fun - wine tasting, pancake breakfast on Saturday mornings for $5 p/p, pot luck heavy hors d'oeuvres, hot dog and marsh mellow roast. Our little Cairn Terrier loved the grassy, fenced doggy play area - which is in the shade in the afternoon (a fact I'm sure is greatly appreciated as the weather heats up). We stayed a week and found plenty to do on site and in the state park. The town of Borrego Springs is blissfully uncrowded. The price reflects the additional charge for electricity. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is a beautiful RV park in a beautiful setting. Facilities are first rate and comparable to some of the southern CA ownership resorts. Lots of activities for guests. The only reason for the 9/10 rating is the first month we were here, the Wi-fi was not working well. The park management finally listened, made a change and Wi-Fi began working much better. Bottom line is that for a park of this quality, Wi-Fi must work at every site in the park, all the time. Aside from this issue, this park is as nice as it gets. We will stay here again without a doubt. We camped here in a Motorhome.
What can I say except this is one fine park. Staff friendly, escort to site, helpful. Clean grounds, scenic, quiet, just a real nice place and for the value is excellent. Have not found a nicer place, cannot wait to return. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a very nice resort, very well maintained, the staff was friendly and helpful. Nice golf course, great meeting area with pool and spa. I will return to this resort again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed here the same time last year. This is the nicest RV park we have ever stayed in. The staff is friendly, efficient, and easy to find. The park is better than well kept. Plus at this time of year it is a wonderful place to be. The mountains are right in the background and yet the park is sunk a little down so you see nothing but green, palm trees, and water, plus the background mountains. This is not a huge park. So make reservations if coming over Christmas or Jan 15 - March 15. We camped here in a Motorhome.
If you like the desert this is the place. Clean, friendly, pet friendly, immaculate, beautiful desert/mountain scenery, very quiet. Golf and driving range. Desert hard packed sand between the sites with desert landscaping. Great for hiking. Small town two miles away with one small grocery store and about 6 restaurants, I recommend the Red Occatillo for dining. No traffic or noise of any kind. My wife does not like the desert but asked me to book this place again. It reminds me of peacefulness of Baja California without the poverty or hassle of Mexico. We will be back. PS: We went from the warm valley floor to snow in the town of Julian 29 miles away. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Probably the finest resort we have stayed in. Very quiet with great staff and well maintained grounds. Drop dead gorgeous scenery. Book early as this is a hidden gem. Bring a pressure regulator as they have very high water pressure. We had a great time hiking and biking. Borrego Springs is pretty small so stock up some before showing up. Beautiful golf course setting. There are a few good restaurants in town with one small grocery. We plan to come back for a month in the Spring. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The staff escorted us to our sight and went out of their way to be helpful. The facilities were immaculate and all sites were concrete, 75 feet long and 35 feet wide. We will come back again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is without a doubt the nicest RV resort we have discovered to date. Everything is clean, clean, clean and the staff is the friendliest. We love the village of Borrego Springs and the view of the stars at night is to die for. The resort has a gorgeous golf course and mineral baths. We stay here every chance we get. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This was are 3rd stay in a private campground and first in a motor home. We chose this place to test out are new motor home. We were highly impressed by the campground and the facilities. The social dinner on Thursday night was enjoyable and it introduced us to a friendly RV group. An excellent place for a few nights of luxury RV camping. The price is high for any sort of long term stay for us. We found everything here as advertised if not better. A great and friendly staff bent on providing the best possible customer service. We really like the views and hiking around the many trails and local roads. We will stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We've camped here 5 times in the last three years and love the park and the area. Everything is clean, clean, clean and service is excellent. I can't say enough good things about this park. We take our kids although the other campers are mostly retirees. There are plenty of things to do (fishing in the pond, swimming in the pool, tennis, walking around the little town of Borrego, driving up the mountain to Julian, golfing,etc.). The beauty and peacefulness of the desert, but with all the luxuries. We've been to a number of RV resorts, but this one tops the list. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I simply cannot say enough good things about The Springs. I give it 20 on a scale of 1 to 10. Staying at The Springs was a true delight. The facilities are excellent (less than 2 years old, I believe), and the staff were exceedingly friendly and helpful. Our group of 16 hosted a reception for about 60 or 70 people. There was ample room for everyone, in a beautiful setting. The commercial kitchen adjacent to the meeting room made catering the reception a breeze. We've already requested our reservation for next year. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Always one of our favorite. We are staying there again the end of this month and it will be our third time this year. Always friendly office help. Host campers keep the lots very nicely raked and clean. Sometime fruit on the trees. The only thing that might be nicer is to have a couple of chairs around the table. As we are now traveling in smaller motorhome, we don't carry extra chairs, so anyone visiting from other lots must bring their own chairs. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We came to Springs at Borrego RV Resort for one day and ended up staying several months! The golf course is exceptional. The dog park is outstanding. It is a fenced, off-leash, grassy area that has park benches and is about the length of a football field. Our ball-chasing dog was in heaven! The camp hosts of winter 2009 were great folks. Most popular months are Jan-March. Lots of Canadian snow birds have discovered this Borrego secret, so reservations can be difficult to obtain during high season. The only complaint I have is that the office staff are not RVers. We found the site assignment to be an area where there is certainly room for improvement. Granted, we did not book a reservation in advance, but once there long term, we were often moved out of our site for someone coming in for only a night or two. Then the site we were kicked out of was empty for several days again. Think this could be vastly improved upon! It was a common complaint amongst the long term guests. The nightly rate is steep, but if that is all the time you have, it is still worth the amenities. The monthly rate is reasonable for a park of this quality. This is the best RV park we have come across in our travels! You won't be disappointed. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a very well-designed park (i.e. staggered and well-placed to avoid direct sun). The spaces are very wide; you will have at least 25' to 30' between you and your neighbors. Your coach sits on (level) concrete with a concrete patio. Between sites are desert foliage, trees,(not shade) and raked desert sand - it is the perfect environment for this area. For views choose sites 101 through 110 or 901 through 910 as well as any site ending in 01. All of these sites have wonderful golf course views in the foreground and awesome views of the mountains in the background. You will pay more - and it is worth it. They also consider their 801 through 810 sites as premium. However, unless you absolutely need the extra length, don't waste your money, as the resort sites will accommodate a 45' with tow. As you would suspect, all amenities (pool, spas, restrooms)are outstanding. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Wow what a great RV Park. This is most likely the nicest commercial RV Park we have ever stayed in. The reason I qualified my rating is that we have stayed in some Park spots where the views were better. But this park is really at the top of the places I have been to. Plus the weather has been perfect here for late December. The people were very friendly and it seems like there are lots of people cleaning and taking care of everything. The bathroom / showers were the best of any place I have ever been. There are ten bathroom / shower rooms. Each clean and climate controlled. Very nice heated pool. One large hot tub and three smaller mineral water hot tubs. They have an exercise room. Reading room with Wi-Fi. Today there were free Yoga lessons. Tomorrow night a new years eve party. Spaces have lots of room. View from park is quite good. They have paid attention to make the edges of the park a bit higher than where you are staying so that what you see is grass and park like grounds and then the mountains. You don't see the general desert funk across the street. There is a nine hole golf course. Lots of grass. Big dog run. And you can even buy a house on the other side of the park if you like it a lot. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed here for two nights - The grounds were immaculate. The staff was very nice and friendly. All the spots are quite spacious. This is a property that is under construction - I think this is phase one, and will gain another 9 holes on the course and probably more camping spots. The golf course was immaculate and my husband said it was well worth the $50 to play there (18 holes - that's twice around the 9-hole course), although an extra $20 for the cart was a bit much so he walked. There's a fishing pond which is catch and release, and gazebo spots to BBQ in and have a fire with the firepits. The fenced dog run is quite large and very clean. This resort has a nice pool, but wish it had had more lounges to lay on - it does have a quiet no kids time from 3-5pm which is great. Included are a number of mineral spas next to the pool, a gym, some horse-shoe pits and tennis courts, and also some meeting spaces. A large number of camp groups were there this weekend. Everyone seemed very happy with the property - mostly older people but still a number of young couples, and families with young kids. Our only real issue was that the wind blew like crazy and one camper had the awning snapped right off of the rig. The Borrego Springs area is not the place to go if you want shopping and lively places to visit. It's a dessert community in the middle of nowhere and not much going on unless you want to relax or go 4x4-ing! Overall - A good 8 out of 10. For a little less cost on the reservation, and a little less for the golf and it would have been 10 out of 10. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is a nice clean park with great landscaping. The sites are much farther apart than normal. There is a golf course surrounding the sites. The only reason I gave this park a rating of 5 instead of 10 is due to the management. We have a folding screen room that we set up so our cats can be outside with us without wearing a harness. When we stayed here for 16 days last year, we were given permission to set the screen room up. With that understanding, we set it up for our stay here this year. All was well until 10 days into our 32 day stay when the host told us to take the screen room down. Subsequent conversations with the manager revealed that someone complained that we were allowed to set up a "tent" when they couldn't use theirs. I explained that our screen room is by no means a "tent". It is open on two sides with roll up flaps on the other two. No one sleeps in it (except the cats). The short story is that we were forced to take the screen room down due to the jealousy of others and the manager's lack of backbone. The moral here is that, while this is a great park, you can't trust the manager's word. We now feel that we are not wanted here and will never stay in this park again. There is a great state park just down the road where we always feel welcome. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a very nice park with paved streets and concrete sites. Between the sites is pea-gravel--remember this is the desert! The staff here does a great job keeping the place clean. They sweep the pads and rake the gravel between sites as soon as a rig pulls out. There are a few small trees. In addition to comments made by others, there is a wonderful dog run. It is very large and nice grass for the dogs to play. For the golfers, there is a very nice course that the golfers in the group enjoy. We are here with a 30 coach Super Bowl Rally. The staff is very accommodating. There is a meeting room, but the acoustics are very bad because of the concrete floor and stucco walls. It amazes me that there is a place this nice in such a remote area. If you come out here, buy groceries and fuel before you get here as the grocery prices are extremely high. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very clean and tidy park with especially spacious sites, and as much landscaping as you can expect in the desert. The activity center has an exercise room, 24-hour laundry, and meeting rooms (one with an exchange library) -- all very modern and clean. There's a large pool, and four spas (three are personal ones for up to two people each) without hours, so we enjoyed one late at night under the stars. Note that there is a decent grocery and hardware store in town, but gas is expensive. Downtown is 2 miles (3 minutes) away. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We paid the Passport America rate. Campsites are all pull through on concrete pads. Ours was nice and level. Good size laundromat. No pay phone, but private phone in clubhouse OK to use for local or calling card numbers. The free internet is a DSL connection on a clubhouse computer. There is an available WiFi connection through Tengo that cost us $15 for a week. Very strong signal for using Skype. Great views of the surrounding mountains. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a very well kept, clean and fun park to visit. The staff was very friendly and flexible. For example, they gave us a late checkout to allow us to play a later round of golf on Sunday. The 9-hole course here is very well manicured and kept (they even have a nice driving range). Very fun course to play and affordable if you're staying in the park ($20ish). You can walk or ride. The pool area with mineral spas is very, very clean and has nice bathrooms and showers. Great gym and clubhouse area. Bocci ball, horseshoes and tennis courts are also there. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Newer clean park with 9 holes of golf. The site that they gave me on the phone had a nice view of the 1st fairway, based on that I booked one week. When I got there they told me they only use that site for someone who wants to rent a travel trailer from them. They keep a little "FEMA" type trailer on that site and try to rent it. Ok, the park is better than the management, however I won't return. We camped here in a Motorhome.
One of the nicest parks I have camped at. Staff very friendly and helpful. Beautiful location surrounded by golf course. Pool and spas very clean. We have already made reservations for next year and plan on visiting yearly. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Very clean and well designed. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Golf course was fun and challenging and played very well. Pool was great and nearby State Park offered several nice hikes. We well return We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice new resort in the middle of the desert. Mountains all around, good roads and cement pads. Heated pool and 4 hot tubs. Tennis court and golf course. Quiet park for the 11 days we were there. Only food store is mediocre. They warn you about high water pressure when you check in, but ours was pathetically low. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
OK park, but not on holiday weekends when lack of supervision (and poor parenting) caused the pool and spas to be overrun with kids. No kids allowed in the spas, but children as young as 18 months were in them. Need more chairs around the pool area. Power is just OK. (At least at our site.) Short sites, and narrow parking areas (why do they always try to limit us to our wheelbase width?), dirt/sand otherwise. I thought being a new park it would be better laid out, but they still haven't figured out the perfect park yet. It's a nice park, but it has some growing pains to get through. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a wonderful desert resort surrounded by the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. The staff was very friendly, they even escorted us to our site. The campground is very new and clean, I believe it is just over a year old. They had a tennis court and mineral hot springs. Our rate was for a premium site with a golf course view. Since the campground is new, it did lack shade which was fine in the winter, but would make it tough in the summer. The wifi was free, although the wifi and cable didn’t work very well our first night. It worked great afterwards – they must have fixed some things. We really liked this place. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
