Best time to visit is in the off-season. This is our second visit on our way back home. We stayed two nights and spent the day visiting the San Luis Wildlife Refuge (worth the trip if you like to see big birds in wetland habitats). We had the whole campground to ourselves with a view of the O'Neil Forebay and rolling bucolic hills. Camp host was very pleasant and told us that nights had been cold. Said they didn't have much wind this year which is unusual. The campground is very well paved as are the pads which come with concrete curbs for the rig and nice spot for your tow right next to it. Nice grassy areas and beautiful mid-size, bushy pines here and there. Our rig is 31 feet and the parking spaces could actually fit a larger rig (backed in) without sticking into the camp roadway. We had lunch at the Andersen's Pea Soup Restaurant (the one with the big windmill seen from I-5) in Santa Nella. Excellent food especially if you want "real" instead of "fast" food. There's a pretty big gift shop in the front and a full bar in room off the main dining room. We will definitely return to this campground especially during the off-season. We camped here in a Motorhome.
