Stayed here for a week. The only bad thing about it is that the only cell phones that work, is Verizon. Picked up a prepaid and solved the problem. Great place to view the river and ocean along with Trees of Mystery. Sites are all grass but pretty level. Sea Lions come and visit off the dock. Take the Klamath River Jet Boat tour if you can. Pretty cool place to see bears, osprey, seals, sea lion and we even saw a bald eagle. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We spent 2 weeks at Chinook and except for some rainy weather they have no control over, we really enjoyed our time. Sites are grassy, level and all utilities are good and recently updated. Showers were adequate and clean but outdated. This is a peaceful place to relax and rejuvenate. There are some attractions related to the redwoods close, as is the ocean. Would be a good idea to be stocked up when you arrive as the closest full service stores are 23 miles away in Crescent City. Don't look for hot tubs, pool or entertainment for kids. This is not the purpose of this park. Hard working workampers everyday were getting docks ready to put in the river for fishing season. About 6 pm several evenings, three seals came up the river by the campground and put on quite a show for us. Our Verizon air card was strong so did not try park Wi-Fi. One thing to note, we have T-Mobile phones and had no signal unless we went to Crescent City. Neighbor had AT&T and no service. Assuming Verizon only cell service. We would return in a heartbeat. Rate reflects PassPort America. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

The Chinook RV Resort has all grass sites. The sites lining the center of the park are pull through, and the outer areas are back-in. I would classify that there are only two river-side sites. We were in site #36 and although not a river-side site, it was a spectacular view. There was a gravel roadway that separated us from the river. We toured the other CG's in the area and I would return to Chinook RV Resort. The price reflects a Passport America rate at $12.50 a night. The boat dock is indeed laid out in the camp ground and is close to being refurbished. It was being worked on every day that we were here. We stayed in a motorhome. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Rate is FHU 30 amp with Passport America discount. Paved roads and pads are narrow, but adequate in an open setting allowing for good satellite reception. Both pull-through and river-front sites available. Located between Hwy 101 and the Klamath River, it was a good value for the money. We stayed two nights, and would certainly stay again if in the area and we needed to overnight. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We spent night here and it was very peaceful. There is nice spacing between sites and if you are luck you can get a river view site. I did not give this place an 8 because there was no handicap access at all nor is any even considered. The toilet stalls were wooden and very small. There is no grab rail at all. The showers offer little privacy and the one I used had a torn shower curtain that almost rendered it useless. Good water flow, though. The laundry was small but ok. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here early off-season and there were only about four campers, and in response to the basic nature of the park, management said "This is not a resort," but we were very pleased with the park overall. The park is set up so that a motorhome can nose-in to the river (right on the bank) and we awakened each morning to birds on the water and in the shrubs, fog lifting off the water, sunsets at night and a general sense of tranquillity not to be expected right on Hwy 101. The facilities are old, but very clean, with plenty of hot water. The cable was spotty, but we used a satellite so only used local news in the evening. Management ("Bob") was very friendly and allowed us to pick any of the paved spaces we wished, even allowed us to move to a second "better" space. Lots of beauty to visit in the area. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We've stayed here before, but we were a little disappointed this time. The bathrooms have continued to deteriorate, they're OK, but just barely. The sewer connections on the shady lower meadow area are hard to get to and are raised up a little too high. The management told us that the Coastal Commission is making it hard for the RV park to upgrade the sewage system. The on-site manager is a great guy, really trying his best. We ended up camping on the sunny "parking lot" just to the east of the office, near some "work campers" who were a little noisy. But as always, the location can't be beat, it is off the highway, near the beach and near the redwoods. We will probably stay here again, the other alternatives in the area, while more well-maintained, are not as rustic or as well-located. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

In a stunning location. Compared to other area campgrounds the rack rate for this one is noticeably more. The $22PN is a PA rate. The grounds are kept any good as any nice city park. By 10:30, after the departures, the sites had been mown as needed, & the gravel roadway leveled & raked. The only real negatives were that there is an extra charge for WI-FI & cable. Also the sites, basically on an open grass field facing the river, are extremely narrow. They have a policy of alternating site use if not real busy so that the vacant site is available for use. Laundry is large & was spotless. I feel safe to assume restrooms were the same. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Friendly owner. Very tight turn getting into park. Rate is for Coast to Coast with a $3. charge for electric and $2. for cable. Sites are all grass with gravel roads. It was off season so every other site was used. If it were full and all sites used it would be very very close. There is Wi-Fi for a $3 or 4 dollar a day charge. We used our Verizon air card and it worked well as did our cell phones. You can not use your auto-former and the electric was OK. We had a 30 amp site and I don't believe there are any 50 amp. The laundry and bathrooms were very clean. There is no shade in the main part of the campground but along the far side of the campground there is a shady tree line. Very nice view of the river. Very quiet and peaceful. A great place to stay to visit the Redwoods. Nearest town with large food stores is about 25 mile distant. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

A nice park with all of the amenities except a swimming pool. It's wide-open and the sites are easy to get to once you navigate the tight entrance turn. It was quite busy when we were there with Class A's, Class C's, fifth wheels, TTs and tents abounding. I choose a waterfront site, "an extra five dollars per night". While the park is clean and well maintained, I like a little more space between the sites with a bit of landscaping to help separate the sites. These sites are about 10' apart with only a picnic table and the utility hookups between them. It seemed to me that we were the only trailer in a line of behemoth class A rigs. The people in the unit next to ours would periodically run the generator on their unit thus filling the trailer with diesel fumes. I hinted to the owner of the RV that it didn't seem necessary to run the generator when you had shore power available but he didn't seem to get the message. Boy was I glad to see them leave. Next time I'll pick one of the "cheap seats" by the tree line with the other trailers. I liked sitting out by the river on the foggy mornings while enjoying my morning coffee. They also have evening campfires by the flagpole that were popular with a lot of the folks staying here. All in all, a pleasant place to stay (except for the closeness of the sites to each other). I'd probably come back but I'd stay away from the big rigs next time. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This campground is a beautiful, flat grassy place. All sites are huge with room for several vehicles on a site! All hook-ups worked very well, except TV cable, (also wi-fi was spotty and occasional at best). We enjoyed the nightly campfire and marshmallow roast. No pancake breakfast was offered on Sunday, although this is stated on their website. There is a pizza place on site, with wonderful home-made pizzas delivered to your site. It seemed to be a very kid friendly spot, with a rec room and playground. Many recreational opportunities were close by. We did see bears, but they seemed to be only after the trash cans. Berries were abundant! We will be back for a week or more, next time! We camped here in a Motorhome.

Gravel roads and lots of grass to park on. Pretty quiet. Walk to Klamath River from RV park. As always full timers get away with just about everything but everyone else is reminded of the rules. Take your groceries with you as there is nothing nearby. Good access to lots of redwoods. Crescent City is good for a day trip about 20 miles away. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Easy access from the hwy. Pretty scenic setting. Some cable TV channels and mostly slow Wi-Fi connectivity (but better than nothing on both accounts). No AT&T service but our Verizon phones worked. Kids really enjoyed themselves here playing outside most all day while we were there. Not much to do in the immediate local area if you're not into fishing (no "town" nearby). The park store is fairly expensive and the on-site pizza place had pizza's listed for like $23! Check out the Trees of Mystery just north of the park, really worth the $14 adult admission. Warning: A lot of the interior sites are extremely non-big rig friendly. If it were not for some vacant sites around us we'd have physically not been able to hook up and get out. Additionally, all the sites are grass and ours was in a big uneven hole that required levelers. Good thing it didn't rain or we'd have been sitting in a pond. Unlike many of nearby parks this is not directly on the river. Black bear in the campground came out of the woods every night at 7:30 and again at 10:30. Watch you kids as the staff doesn't run him off until a crowd gathers. Kind of a cool sight to see but if you have kids please brief them on the situation. Another place that's a tad too expensive. Might go back if passing by otherwise one visit is enough. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This was by far the nicest campground we saw in the area. We stayed here two nights while in the Redwood Forest. It's very family friendly, has a little play structure, mini-golf, and little paths to walk along. The restrooms were spotless and the owners were so very nice and helpful. They even gave us tons of great information and directions on things to do and see. The site we stayed in was at the back of the campground and very private, although there were other sites towards the front with less privacy and trees. We had full hookups and didn't have a problem with anything. The Wi-Fi listed is a little spotty and they really only want you using it to check emails, etc, which was fine. They had tons of blackberry bushes to pick from although we ran out of time. If we go back we will definitely stay here again. They also had laundry facilities, ice and a little gift store with a few necessities for sale as well. This was less than a quarter of a mile from the Trees of Mystery and within 20 miles of many of the neat sites, such as Fern Canyon, the twisted tree, the Drive-through Tree, etc. I would stay 3 nights minimum if we do this trip again. So many things to do and see in the Redwoods: beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed there four nights this trip and four nights in 2005. The owners are kind and responsive to requests. They keep everything in good condition. We were in a site in the trees and could not have asked for more. The pull through sites are in an open grass area, so if you want to be in the trees, ask. They have a 1/2 mile walking path through the forest behind the park that is maintained and lots of blackberry bushes if you are there in season. Their WiFi is on satellite and has download limits, so you can't stream video. They have a homemade miniature golf course, a pool table, a ping pong table and a nice little store. We really love this park! We camped here in a Motorhome.
