Beautiful park near the ocean, many private sites with trees and shade. The budget crisis in CA has shut down many state parks for part of the year with certain areas of these parks affected adversely. This is still a lovely park with a great location. Not too far from the super scenic village of Mendocino. We made do for three days and 2 nights without electricity and hook-ups. Some trails do not allow dogs, others do. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Site #20 is in the wooded area and doesn't get much sun. Probably would not stay here again as we like to have electrical/water/sewer hook-ups. Park needs maintenance but California is "broke" so funds for upkeep are in short supply. Park is close to the town of Mendocino and Fort Bragg. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
What a gorgeous park! There are two trails that start in the campground that are nice. Across Highway 1 is the beach - camping is available in the parking lot there for one night only. Most of the sites are shaded and quite large. The showers are not free - but they are clean. Wi-Fi is available through AT&T in the Visitors Center parking lot only. The campground is located a couple of miles from Mendocino - a beautiful city. We would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
