Easy access, right on the lake, pet friendly, 4G MiFi. We are rating it a 5 because of its Jekyll & Hyde personality. During the week it is quiet and serene but come the weekend all hell breaks loose with hordes of people flowing in. Lots of drinking' and merriment, beer cans and party detritus everywhere. If you're into music this is the place for you with a different genre blasting from each campsite. Watch out for the RC car flying by you on your walk! Staff is friendly. When you check in peek inside the booth. You'll see lots of high tech video and communications equipment right alongside the largest collection of rubber stamps you've ever seen. They have a stamp for everything! We camped here in a Motorhome.
Woodward Reservoir is full at this writing; so was the RV campground. Leash law was not enforced and as a result, plenty of land mines to navigate around, and flies. Mid afternoon the power was down to 110 volts (brownout). The park attendants were out in force checking camp credentials. But not leash laws. All in all this is a tremendous value for the senior, $15 a day (summer season). Sites were well spaced, but the hook-ups were at the very back, and at best a stretch (for the hose) to make things work. If you are into RC aircraft, there is a flying field just to the north around the dam, with friendly folks ready to answer questions about the hobby. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We like Woodward Reservoir Campground. It is only 35 minutes from the house but seems a world away. The full hook-up campgrounds are great with some lakeside and some pull-throughs. The best rate around for seniors. We always go on weekdays to avoid the weekend crowds. Lots of roads to ride bicycles or walk. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Woodward Reservoir has a lots of RV parking. They have full hookups for $23 or partial hookup for a smaller fee (I think it was around $3 less). The park has quite a few full-timers. We stayed there for about 2 weeks; it was nice and quiet except for one Saturday night. The locals camp out here. Pets are an additional $2 per day. No one (pets or people) is allowed in the water during the winter times. The park is a few miles out of Oakdale and about a 15-minute drive to Modesto. We didn't use the facilities as we had our own. The staff is very nice and helpful. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
