The rate reflects a 50% senior discount. This is a Corp of Engineer Campground, one of two on Black Butte Lake. The other being Orland Butte Campground. The campgrounds are open year-round; when we were there in the winter, only 22 campsites were open, but this was not a problem as there were only a dozen or so campers. There are no hook-ups of any kind, but there is a dump station with fresh potable water. There is some shade and some sites out in the open. The campground does take reservations during the peak time. The campground can be accessed off of Interstate 5 either from Corning or Orland. The better road to the campground is from Orland. The road from Corning is very narrow in places. Some sites have a view of the lake and some are back from the lake. The terrain is rolling hills with, primarily, oak trees. There are some hiking trails around the lake. The campground is very pleasant, nicely quite and dark. We have stayed here twice and will likely stay here again when in the area. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nothing fancy, but the price is right. Had complete hookups and a very level site. Dogs are welcomed, and the Wi-Fi is free and strong. No cable, but 20+ stations over the air. Have stayed here before and probably will again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed for three nights to rest up during our journey to Arizona. Pleasant folks in an older park. Unique "circle" arrangement makes for easy pull-through in and out. Nothing fancy, just a good stop-over spot. We camped here in a Motorhome.
As stated permanent residents are all closest to the road. Most are well kept. Easy on and off the interstate. Long pull-through sites and pretty level. Not much in the way of amenities, but very nice for a overnight stay. The manager/owner is extremely pleasant. No Wi-Fi available, however she let me use her personal and office code to use their Wi-Fi. A nice act if kindness. I rated it a 7 only because of the noise in the mornings of the worker bees starting trucks, slamming doors etc. I would stay here again and would recommend to my friends. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is the second time we stayed here for one night. It is an easy on/off from I-5. It is an older park and the maintenance could be improved. The showers were OK, but not outstanding. The sites were level and all were pull throughs. We had an issue with our assigned site because of an overhanging tree and the managers had no problem re-issueing us another site. We would stop again because of the easy on/off, but would not stay here for any length of time. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
The $24 rate was with a Good Sam discount. A pleasant park right off I-5. The permanent residents have all the sites closest to the freeway, so overnighters are far enough away and screened enough by the permanents that there isn't much highway noise. Sites are long and wide enough that a big rig with slides on both sides does not need to unhook its tow or towed vehicle. Be sure to ask for a site with satellite access if you need it. The park has a lot of large trees, but there are plenty of sites with a shot at the southern sky. We had a 30 amp site, and a sustained 20 amp load repeatedly tripped the breaker at our site. Excellent Verizon voice and data service. We would stay here again when passing through the area. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Stayed here the first night of a 25 day trip. The rest rooms were locked so I did not look inside. The laundry room was clean and had clean machines to use. The sites are 25' wide and have gravel to park on. Grass extends from site to site. The sites are long enough I did not have to unhook my 4dr F350 and I had room left over. There is a Shell gas station with a convenience store across the street. The entrance drive is in a circle shape around the pull through sites. The exit road is a circular road on the inside. The rest rooms and laundry are inside the circle. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Too many long term RV's in old rigs in a circle. Freeway near by noisy also from nearby gas station mini mart. I was not pleased with the rest rooms and showers they need a good overhaul. Friendly staff. Would not recommend another stay. In the future will travel a bit off the freeway for a quiet night sleep. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed here while traveling for one night. The access was easy on/off for I-5. The campground itself is set up quite nicely with a circle within a circle. You drive on the outer circle, then pull into the site and pull out through the inner circle, a very neat idea. The rest rooms were clean, however the men shower did not have much pressure (my wife said the women were OK with good water pressure). There is a small station/store a short walk, but we did not check it out. Other stores were not within walking distance so if you need food or supplies you would need to drive. We would stay here again for one night, but not much longer. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
I just made this a overnight stop. A very friendly staff. The park is clean and sites large and level. They all have shade due to the mature walnut and pecan trees. A little noise from the freeway but not enough to disturb your sleep. I would stay here again for a day or longer. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The price quoted is for full hookups w/ GS discount. Graveled mostly level sites, with shade trees and grass, which would be especially welcome in summer. There are semi-permanent guests in the back of the park, away from the overnighters. No cable or WiFi, but there are many over the air stations in the area and good cell phone reception. We camped here in a Motorhome.
A fairly good spot to stop on I-5. No park internet. A tree blocked both my satellites. Used Verizon internet. Dirt gravel road. Spacious sites and grounds. A slight bit on the funky side. Plenty of room for big rigs. For the price this is a good spot. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Easy in and out for an overnight. Good turning radius for big rigs, as the park is laid out in a large circle. All pull throughs. Close to the freeway but not noisy. We would stay again. Not fancy, but a good value. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Don't read this book by the cover. I stayed here for a month while I was moving out of my place and into my RV full-time. It might not be the prettiest park in all the land, but the owners are *really* wonderful people. No hassles about A/C, rig washing etc. They own the gas station next door, and they have diesel, with the lowest prices I've seen in Northern CA. The natives, permanent residents, are friendly; a very nice bunch of guys. There are some shady spots for overnighters with just electric and water, located on the other side of the circle, if you'd like to keep to yourself. All of the spaces are long enough for a 40' footer. My 36 footer and truck fit together in the pull-through, even disconnected. The I-5 on-ramp is a block away, so pulling in for the night is a cinch. The family who owns it, have several children with health problems (agent orange). They've been through a lot, and they work very hard to keep the park green in the CA heat but I think they are really struggling financially. The casinos have *enough* of our money, let's support the private, family-owned parks as much as we can. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Only 14 of the sites have sewer hookups. This is a very old RV Park, but quite nice, and cheap. It is a Good Sams Park. The restrooms are clean and well maintained. The advertised "General Store" that is part of the park is a joke. Really there is no store, but there are real stores close by. The RV television "batwing" antenna pulls in all the major stations well. The park is laid out in two concentric circles. To park, one drives the outer ring and pulls through facing the inner ring; one exits via the inner ring. Ingress and egress are very easy as all are pull throughs. On exit, there is a dump station that is convenient for those without a full hookup. There is a club room, with cooking facilities and tables that served our Good Sams club of 14 rigs and 28 people well, crowded, but well. It is definitely a great stop for an overnighter. There is really not too much to do around here in the winter. Chico is 25 miles away and an Indian Casino is a short ways away. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The rate reflects a 50% senior discount. This is a Corp of Engineer Campground, one of two on Black Butte Lake, the other being Buckhorn Campground. Buckhorn campground is open year-round; whereas Orland Buttes is closed during the winter (currently the first part of September until around the first of April). There are no hook-ups, but there is a dump station. Fresh potable water is available from three threaded faucets in the campground loops. There is some shade and some sites out in the open. There are only a few sites where satellite is possible. Only a few sites have a view of the lake. Only about half of the sites are suitable for RV’s and of those only a few are very level. There are a very few sites where a larger rig would fit. The campground does take reservations but the times that we have been there we have not had any reservations and it has not been an issue. There is a campground host that is very nice and helpful. The terrain is rolling hills with, primarily, oak trees. There are some hiking trails around the lake and some great biking on the country roads around the campground. One great ride is from the campground to Grisly Flats. The campground is very pleasant, nicely quiet, especially during the week, and dark. Our Verizon phone and data card worked well. We have stayed here twice and will likely stay here again when in the area. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Great park. They have wine tasting on request during weekends. Quiet, away from freeway noise, only one half mile. I would definitely stop in again on my way through. Nice, clean, family run park. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We chose The Parkway RV Resort because the place we normally stay in Chico was full, but boy are we glad we found this place! This park is about 1/2 mile (west) from I-5. If you listen really close, you can hear the road noise, but you have to work at it. There aren't very many other units here with us, but all the units are in good shape. There are plenty of shade trees, but they could use some trimming to accommodate for taller units. We just happen to carry a tall ladder and tree trimmers with us, so we take care of our spots. Spots are gravel with grass around. It's not fancy, but it’s quiet. It seems to be safe. Park is easy in and out with easy access to I-5. There isn't a dog park, but there is plenty of grass to play in. There is a nice size pool, but I'm not sure if it is open yet. The gate is not locked, and the water is clear, but there is a sweeping device sitting in the bottom of the pool. We will come back to The Parkway RV Resort. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Very friendly staff, as well as helpful. Sites are gravel with grass between. Well maintained for an old park. Huge trees for shade. My site (A-1) was very level. Wi-Fi worked well. This park is quiet, as it is far enough from the highway. I would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This campground is good for an overnight stay. Sites are pull through both gravel and some cement. We stayed in a gravel site that was level. Although this is not a super well maintained campground it was clean. Did not look at restrooms, but laundry was clean. They have unfenced grassy pet area. All the sites are 50 amp, the office loaned us a adapter. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Very friendly staff we called as we were coming in after they closed. Gave us information about pull through sites that would be open. Level gravel spot with tables and shade trees. Nice hook-up. Easy access off freeway and several fast-foods. We just stayed the night but, would do so again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Back again headed south on I-5. This is an excellent place to stay. Owners are busy with new features every time I've been here. I would recommend this park to everyone. Restroom was very clean. Large spaces for big rigs and plenty of shade, grass and free WiFi. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Stayed here about 1.5 years ago and I am impressed with the improvements of this park. Wi-Fi is free, sites are level gravel, and outlined with pavers. The rest rooms are top of the line clean and new tile. The office is outstanding, comfortable, and they are starting to offer wine tasting in a few months (I will make a special trip for that). Friendly, the owner taught me to program my TV since my satellite is broken. He wrote down the instructions so I can do it again at other parks, I really appreciated that! I will stay again We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Very nice park for a short stay. I found the sites wide, level and long. Nothing fancy just a quiet friendly park. Restrooms were clean, showers clean and roomy. I would stay here again. To get the discount you must pay cash. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This RV park is a little further off I-5 than the first one on the exit. It seems a little nicer and I'm sure quieter because of the location. It was easy to get in and out of with a big rig. Some full time of long term residents. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
WOW, this is our kind of park. Country setting, small park, large grassy level sites, quiet, clean, great dog walking area, close to activities, friendly helpful staff. The mature shade trees are great. Couldn't ask for more except maybe cable TV and free Wi-Fi (which is why it didn't get a 10). We were able to set up our satellite dish and use our air card with great reception so not really that big a deal. We stayed 3 days while visiting family in the area. The laundry facilities are top shelf and affordable. Even offer on site hand RV wash ($) which was a huge bonus. To get the discount price you must pay with check or cash which is really no big deal. This park (in our opinion) would be perfect for extended stays as well as overnight. We will be back. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Very quiet, nicely shaded, easy access. We didn't unhitch as we were just passing through. Picked this spot because of the Dutch Bros. Coffee close by. Dogs loved the nice grassy areas and cool shade trees. Would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Easy off Interstate 5. Maybe OK for an overnight in a pinch, but a bit "tired" and overpriced for what you get. Prices vary for 30 & 50 amp sites. No Good Sam or AAA discount if you use a credit card. Nightly rate we paid was for cash, 30 amp. No cable, no local air TV, WiFi is not provided by the park: ISP charges $6.95 per day. No handout or local area map. Had to ask for a receipt. Sites were gravel and some coarse grass. Ours was a bit muddy from newly installed water lines. Most sites appear to share utilities posts, so pull-in direction alternates. Can't reach some posts without extension cords and extra hose because they are at the far, wrong end of the site from the rig, not in the middle. Washrooms appeared to be newly renovated, were very nice and clean. Convenience store and gas station were just off the freeway and before you get to the park. We won't be using this RV Park again on our snowbird travels. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This park has huge, shaded, pull-through sites. This is one of the best parks we have ever visited. It is well off the interstate so it is also fairly quiet. Sites are level and there is grassy areas between them. Wi-fi is fast, but you have to pay by the day to use it. We would gladly stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Nightly rate is approximate, since I am paying monthly rate. I am currently camped at this park, having rented it for the month of April and am considering extending until the end of May. It is clean and well kept, and you can see the upgrading going on. The laundry room is immaculate and the most reasonable I've been in, and the rest rooms/showers are clean as well. The owners are friendly and helpful. The only drawback to me, with two dogs, is that the dog walk area isn't very big and I walk them there plus along the road for a little ways. This wouldn't be much of a problem with small dogs. Easy access from I-5; propane available between I-5 and campground. (NOTE: I pay monthly rate plus electric). We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
The pool is clean, and restrooms are upgraded. Almost all the sites are well shaded and level (gravel), with lots of green grass. They are upgrading this park, and we would stay here again. The park is quiet. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We stayed at this park for one night while traveling down I-5. It worked; however, for the price ($28.50 plus $3 extra for 50 amp) you sure did not get much. If we wanted to use the Wi-Fi, it would have been even more, so we didn't use it. I feel the price was very high for what the park had to offer. The spaces were not paved, they were just dirt and mud which made it messy to set up. The roads into the park were not paved either. The sites were pull-through with plenty of length and width. We did not have to use any blocks to level the RV. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Nice friendly staff, older park in the midst of renovation. Quiet, only spent one night. We would stay there again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Not a destination resort but a very clean and quiet stop over for a couple of days. Pool is clean, restrooms recently up graded, almost all the sites are well shaded and level,(gravel), with lots of green grass. They are upgrading this park slowly and doing each step very well. This is our 3rd stay and we will return. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Resort?? No. But it is Simple, Clean, and easy to get in and out of. (Although at night the sign into the park is kind of hard to see) We would stay here again if traveling through the area and need a nice quite place for a stay over. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
The term "Resort" is used loosely here. However, this is a quiet campground that is easily accessed off of I-5. The grounds are level, gravel sites, and there is grass. Most of the sites are well shaded. The pool was clean and refreshing. There was not a lot of activity (20% full) when we stayed here on Father's Day weekend. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This appears,by the check-in building, to be an old KOA. It seems to be undergoing renovation and is very clean and neat with only one area at a time being worked on. Easy access to I-5 but the park is very quiet with a couple of neat long term campers. Very shady, level sites, mostly grass and gravel. Restrooms and laundry clean and tidy. We just stayed one night but for anyone that has a reason to be in Orland, this is a very nice park but not a resort yet. We would stay here again and would spend longer next visit! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
