We came here from Lake Skinner Rec Park. We thought this was a nice park, for the one night that we stayed. It is mostly permanent residents, here but there is availability for overnight guests. We had 'lake' parking and it was nice, peaceful and quiet. Will return again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is not a campground - this is a trailer park. 80% of the sites are used for full time guests which is fine but they really should tell people that. Our site was sandwiched between two full time families who fought all night (I thought we'd end up on Cops) and walked around half naked. We had no fire ring, no picnic table and the bathrooms were locked. Our neighbors dog used their deck as a bathroom which was eye level with our windows. We had to keep them closed and covered the entire time. The lake is green sludge that reeks. Maybe this is better in the Summer but our experience was horrid, we went home early and will never go back. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is an interesting place to say the least. They have their own pond/lake thing. There are a lot of residents, a few vacation home people and then us overnighters. I have to admit that is the friendliest place around! Lots of nice folks, not too noisy. The roads around here are dirt, so don't expect the best accommodations if you are used to a more luxurious style. They can handle RV's of any size, and tents too, but like many parks, the spaces for the larger rigs are limited. There is no cable, no TV, no cell phone coverage and you are lucky if you can get radio inside your rig. There is Wi-Fi, but only if you take your laptop to the bar/office area. Bring a book! The lake is interesting. It is basically a few streams built up behind a dam. But I have to say that I find it “nice”. There is catch and release fishing, paddle boats, a swim area and an area to launch water balloons into the lake at your friends and strangers. There is also...a bar! OK, so it is not a FULL bar. In fact, all they sell is beer. Still, on a hot day in August, looking over the lake and having a cold one... We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

A very big park with plenty of big rig sites. WiFi is available within the park at a cost of $4.95/day or $15.99 weekly. The rangers are good about policing the noisy and maintaining park rules in general which is necessary in a park this large. Weekend occupancy is high, but during the week only about 15% of the spaces are filled. Only significant drawback is that the access gate is closed and locked from 10:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. If time has a tendency to get away from you then you may need to spend a night in a motel. The distance from the gate to the campground is probably two miles and you won't want to walk it in the dark! We would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Great park, located in a quiet area, but close to several different Winerys, and lots of shopping. Quiet at night. Had level, pull through sites. There is a lot of walking and biking areas. Boat launch areas available. Good prices. Only drawback was no Internet. But, if you have a cell phone with software for internet, it works fine. We used ours with our Droid Phone through Verizon. There is a small campstore for items you may have forgotten. Laundry and the restrooms/showers were very clean. Overall a good place for camping for value and has easy access. We camped here in a Motorhome.

They are in the process of renovating/expanding a portion of the park, but we did not notice at all. The construction was halted over the long weekend (President's Day) and was started again on Tuesday as we were leaving. The construction activities were not in the immediate vicinity of the campsites. My daughter loved the playground and this facility seemed like a very family oriented facility. Lots of groups and lots of fun to be had. We can't wait to go back!!! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Great overall park with spacious sites and friendly staff. They have an annoying fly problem right now, that makes it difficult to sit outside. We visit often and have noticed the problem on our last two trips (both in July). I would strongly suggest bringing a couple disposable fly traps, because the maintenance staff will not address the problem. This is a great location if you enjoy casino action or plan on wine tasting at the local wineries. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Very clean, well kept Park with excellent security 24 hours a day. All sites are on concrete and easy to move in and out of. Part of an Indian Casino and provides free shuttle to and from. One of the better Parks we have stayed in. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is our third stay at this park, and we continue to be impressed. The staff is helpful and more efficient than in the past, the park is well kept and constantly patrolled, and the trees are growing. The staff is getting better at spacing campers (i.e. not putting you right next to someone else in a somewhat empty park). We tried to get in for Memorial Day weekend, but they were full. We arrived Memorial Day and found the place almost empty: they said everyone just left (from the traffic I believed it). We were given a site facing Northwest (which I liked), and no one on either side for 3 spaces (which the dogs and I liked). The weather was great (20 degrees cooler than Phoenix), and the breezes perfect. Besides the casino, and all it offers, the town and surrounding area is worth exploring. We are not into wine, but a tour of local wineries is fun. The downtown area of Temecula is interesting and offers some unusual shopping. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The campground was very nice. The place is 20 miles from any significant town - we couldn't even find a small mom and pop restaurant or store nearby. So it's important that you plan ahead (including gas - none nearby). Tucalota is great if you want a "throwback" camping experience. The campground has a fishing pond, a petting zoo (with emus and ostriches), horseshoe pits, a basketball court and a ball field. There were a few folks catching fish at the catch-and-release pond. There's also shaded areas with picnic tables. Also a real nice pool out front. Lots of things to do to keep the kids busy. However, those addicted to the modern conveniences of cell phones and Wi-Fi will not be happy. Cell coverage was non-existent and the owner has shut down Wi-Fi access as it was through a Hughes Satellite link and "people kept tying it up downloading pictures and stuff" (quote from owner). So, if you are willing to walk to the lounge out front (open 24 hours), there is a computer that can be used, but the connection suffers from the typical satellite issues: high speed downloads but with latency due to the satellite distance. Usable but not great. The lounge is well appointed and also has a TV with DirecTV service, and a coffee pot available with free coffee while the adjacent store is open. The sites range from tight to roomy and about 70% are back-ins and 30% are pull-ins (hookups to the left). I'd avoid those latter sites. They are clearly labeled on the map downloadable from the web site. The place was very quiet for a summer weekend. I'd say about 20% occupancy. We had site D5, which had adequate shade and was very big with great privacy. Nice folks running the facility, and for us, a very pleasant overall experience. We plan on going back. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We really loved this park. The park is smaller than others but that is what makes it great. You feel like your living on a ranch. They have a few animals which the kids loved. Fishing is fun, my husband caught a big one in about an hour. This park is very clean and well kept! The grass areas are very green and inviting. The staff, including the Manager was very friendly and accommodating . The lounge is great, you can use the phone, computer, or just relax and watch TV. Tons of hiking trails and it is a nice area: Wine Country. This is great for families the only reason I did not rate it perfect is because it needs a playground area, the one here is a small jungle gym and that's it. If they were to build a small playground area this place would be a perfect 10. Our 4 kids enjoyed it and can't wait to go back. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Wonderfully lovely people work in this park! They were very helpful in every aspect. Park is rustic and quiet and very well maintained. Sites are sand/grass and some have shade trees. Just a great, quiet getaway and close to Hemet and Temecula. If you want the perfect peaceful holiday, come here. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We really liked the rustic setting of the campground, as it really felt like we were in the woods. When we were there, you could have campfires in CDF approved fire rings, which was provided at each site. I have a 95 lb dog and he had a blast walking on all of the trails around the park. The pool was nice, yet unheated, so it was a bit cold, in my opinion. The restrooms were a bit dirty, but this is likely due to the fact that this was a holiday weekend, and the more folks drink, the worse off their aim is. What really bothered me was the way that the nightly rates were jacked up significantly for this weekend. When the rates are normally $42 per night on regular weekends and you raise it to $92, that is pretty close to extortion!! The other problem is that quiet hours were not enforced...one night there was a party going on until 0300 (no sign of security) or so and another night, security finally got things somewhat tame by 1215. I would have called security myself, but my mobile phone (Verizon) did not have reception, this in and of itself is a safety issue. The other knock is the number of golf carts, mopeds, and Polaris that were buzzing around faster than the posted 10 mph speed limit. I would consider staying here again, but not for 92 bucks a night, and DEFINITELY not on a holiday weekend!! We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for a bike race. The bike trails are great. Kids enjoyed the "frog pond" and swimming pool as well as the water slides. The sites were spacious, loved all of the shade trees. The restrooms were a little dirty, although had nice hot water in the showers. They had signs on them saying keep doors closed due to various things that could get in (birds, snakes, etc). The womens restroom door near our site would not stay closed. The entire time we were here (3 days) it was open. If you tried to shut it, it would just pop open again. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We have been staying at Vail Lake for 9 years now. We camp here over Thanksgiving and when we first started going, loved it. Now, not so much. The campground itself is beautiful. In the fall, the trees are beautiful. We stay in the Arroyo Seca area and this year there were only 7 other RVs in that area. Where else can you drive for just an hour and a half and be out in the middle of nowhere? With that said however, the management is letting the place go: security is nonexistent and the park is extremely overpriced for what you get. No tables: and when we asked for tables, were told no. The park is now allowing golf carts again which is extremely annoying to those of us who camp for peace and quiet. For beauty, sites that are large, plus feeling like you in the wilderness: the place is a 10. For management, price, security (the lack thereof): the park is a 1. It's too bad as it really is a beautiful spot. We camped here in a Motorhome.
