Sites are tight, BUT because they have them divided by lattice fence and at this time of the season, covered with ivy, or trailing flowering vines, the sites were beautiful and private. Bathrooms very clean and private shower. Fresh flowers in season by bathroom sinks. Nice little laundry room that was clean. Pet friendly. Two areas for dog business. Owner is hoping for small dog park in 2014. WiFi, free and very good. Very Good Verizon internet reception. Nice book exchange in laundry room Lots to do in the area. Redwood forest, Pacific ocean, lots of hiking. Well kept, quiet park. This park would have gotten a perfect score if the sites were a bit larger. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Quiet RV park well off the main highway across the road from Patrick Point State Park. There is a trail access to the park, and it's a moderate distance but a fairly level walk to the shore through the park, where there are some outstanding views. The RV sites are located adjacent to a large pond in the middle of the facility. We stayed in one with a wood "patio" overlooking the pond. Staff was friendly and helpful, giving us several maps of the area and suggesting the walk across to the state park and other activities. Restroom and shower were older, but well maintained and clean. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice park with friendly, helpful staff and pleasant, quiet location. Only a minor complaint that our site was not very level. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Very picturesque campground with lots of flowers. Difficult entry but OK for getting into spot. Lots of long term campers but they are well kept. Small pond that some sites back up to. A major problem was the 14 speed bumps in a 100 yard loop. Some of the speed bumps were offset so my RV shook side to side when going over. If you never leave the CG it probably isn't an issue but I couldn't stand it. For that reason alone I would never return. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Absolutely love this park. It is older but very well maintained. There are a few permanent units, which is to be expected in the coastal area. The personnel were friendly and went out of their way for us. The grounds are nicely kept and we loved the plants all in bloom. We look forward to our next visit. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We camped here for 3 nights in our 42' MH. It was a very tight squeeze getting into the park over a small bridge. The park is small with not very well maintained gravel roads. Site itself not very level grass. Hookups worked fine, although water pressure low. Internet very sporadic. This is an OK park with mostly live-in residents. I probably would try the next park down the road next time. The park is pretty with large trees and a nice pond. Sites by the pond are the best with a nice patio, however your rig would need to be 35' or less. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stopped here on our motorcycle tour of the Redwoods after the state park (Patrick Point) which is right across the road was full up. Two couples of us with pop up campers behind our motorcycles (ours are very quiet) were given a very nice, although somewhat narrow, pull through site which we shared. That made the cost to camp ($25/couple) quite reasonable for this area. We were made to feel right at home and given free firewood to help stave off the late evening chill and to roast our marshmallows. Clean, reasonably priced, and friendly. Couldn't ask for much more. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
Very clean and nice little park in Trinidad! Have stayed at another campground on previous visits, and this is much quieter and nicer. Park managers went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. Overgrown landscape was removed within an hour of our arrival to allow our patio awning to fully extend. Manager delivered firewood, and even included kindling, within minutes of asking. Sites are clean, private, and well manicured. Good cable, and 50 amp service. Grassy sites with gravel pads. Lovely pond with gorgeous Lilly pads in full bloom made for a peaceful place. There is a walking path to Patrick's Point State Park for hiking and beach activities. Mangers provided lots of printed information for local activities and day trips. Most of park spaces are full-time residents, but all sites are clean and well manicured. Owners take pride in landscaping and cleanliness. Even though restrooms and laundry are older, they are pristine and in good working condition. We would recommend this park for anyone wishing to visit the lovely CA Redwoods and wanting to stay in a quiet, beautiful little park. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a nice quiet and friendly park. We had a site on the pond and would have enjoyed the deck if the weather had co-operated. Bathrooms could use some upgrading, but were clean. We were unable to get internet and left a day early as a result. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed three nights, thinking we'd stay only one! It was the quietest stay we've had this holiday: no trains, loud neighbors, noisy airports, busy highways. It has been wonderful! Our spot was close to the office, right on the lake. Wi-Fi was great and we had five devices with us that were sometimes almost all in play. NO problem. We didn't see the otters, but we did hear the frogs every night. The RV Park is close to Patrick Point State Park, and the owners will tell you how to make a shortcut through the woods to get there. The views are magnificent. We did a day trip down to Eureka, Ferndale, Loleta Cheese Factory, and a few other places that the owners kindly provided us with a list of suggestions. We enjoyed them all. This is a great spot! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
An older campground type park with full service sites backing onto a delightful pond containing a playful otter. It has a very relaxing atmosphere and we enjoy walking over to the state park and seeing the seals on the rocks below the cliffs. The sites near the office can now get free Wi-Fi, and it works quite well. Yes, it is becoming expensive. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The crazy ditches that cross the road in numerous places through the park make the 5 mph signs truly laughable. Going faster than 2 mph would shake your motorhome to pieces. There is no internet connection (Wi-Fi or modem) available. Sites are grass and to get our motorhome level, I had to have my rear wheels 5 inches off the ground. Park staff was pleasant so there was one good thing. The rules state quiet time is between 9PM and 9AM, however one of the permanent residents started up a chainsaw at 7:00AM. That's right, 7:00AM!!! I truly struggle to see how this park rated some 10's in other reviews. We camped here in a Motorhome.
As a fulltimer I seldom rate parks but when you stumble on to a jewel like this you have to tell someone. An older park that is well maintained. Restroom and showers are spotless. The owners went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Even brought my wife a bouquet of flowers. The pond is pretty and it was fun to watch the otter that lives there. You can bet we'll stop here again when we come through the area! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We love staying here. The people who work here are friendly and helpful. The setting is beautiful with many beautiful flowers and a lovely pond. The location, being near Patrick's Point State Park and the town of Trinidad is great. The fees went up a bit this year, but it won't keep us from staying here in the future. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Stayed over 1 night. Friendly staff. Clean and very quite. Close sites. Not much else to say. It did the trick for a one night stay. Couldn't see choosing to stay for any more length of time. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice older small RV park across from Patrick's Point State Park. Very nice owners, and the grounds are nicely landscaped. You can tell they take pride in keeping a nice, clean, quiet place. Sites are fairly close together, but at least we had a row of plants to separate us from our neighbors, and we backed up to a pretty forest. Watch out for deep drainage ditches across the road, as others have noted. A good location with the park and the town of Trinidad close by, and Redwoods National Park about a half hour north. Would return. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Azalea Glen is the best rv park my husband and I have ever experienced! The owners were very personable and welcoming. The entire park is lush and green, but the sites allow for sun - an important thing on the coast. We loved our site on the pond where we were able to watch otter parents teach the two babies lots of otter-growing-up things. Our site was separated from those on each side with fences and shrubs, providing privacy. I didn't feel as if we were parked right up next to our neighbors. The two pet areas were really pretty and well kept so I didn't mind hanging out there while my dogs did their business. The park is a short walk away from Patrick's Point State Park, providing gorgeous places to stroll, jog, or sit and take in the incredible forest and ocean scenery. We will go back to stay as soon as possible, even though it's a long drive from home. Oh, and The Eatery in Trinidad has the best warm blackberry cobbler a la mode anywhere. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Very well run, pretty park, in this exceptional area. Excellent location, just across the road from a beautiful state park. Site was quite small. Good atmosphere. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is a great little mom-and-pop campground. The only negatives: low water pressure (guess we had a site away from that of the last reviewer), and those bone-blasting “drainage ditches” across the roads. While we were at the CG, they at least painted stripes across them to make them more visible, but a few cubic yards of large gravel would alleviate the problem. The sites are private and shaded (to the extent we had to juggle to get Sirius reception.) We camped here in a Motorhome.
I stayed here as a base camp to visit the nearby State Parks and Redwood National Park. The owner was very nice and after I indicated I may stay an additional night, she checked her books and had me stay in another site so I wouldn't have to move. After one day it was clear I needed more time, so that foresight saved me from hitching up. She was fairly knowledgeable about the area as well, Trinidad in particular, and had a number of pamphlets providing info about other places. The park is very quiet, and they make it clear noise is not tolerated 9-9. There's a beautiful pond that most of the overnight sites border, and a lattice fence provides privacy between each site. Each site has a picnic table and a fire tub. There was excellent water pressure, good condition power connections and the site was on fairly level grass, though I did need about 4" of blocks. My drain line is very low, so I appreciated the surface sewer drain as it made it a snap to connect up to. I never used their showers, but the bathrooms were in good shape and the laundry room was large and had 2 coin-op washers and dryers. They had a large selection of books as well, free for each guest. Nearby is a trail that leads to Patrick Point State Park, circumventing the $7 car entry fee front gate, though it does go smack through a group campground site. The park is exquisite though, from forest to sea. Harbor seals, Redwoods, Brown Pelicans, and other wildlife are everywhere in and around the park. So the Glen is in a perfect spot for access to this park. The only negatives would be the bad entry, though currently they route you around another building to avoid that section. Also water run-off ditches go across the gravel road, making for some nasty dips. More gravel would help, or a better drainage system. This was a great place to stay and I chose to stay at this place because of the reviews on this site. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Small, friendly, very quiet and peaceful RV park. Full hookups, cable tv, dial-up modem in laundry room (no wifi), fire rings. Easy walk into Patrick's Point State Park which is across the road to see the ocean and seal lions. The price quoted is for pond-side sites, others cheaper. Great place for a rest. Cash or check as they don't accept credit cards. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very quiet and peaceful RV park. Full hookups, cable tv, dial-up modem in laundry room (no wifi), fire rings. Easy walk into Patrick's Point State Park which is across the street. Friendly staff, older but clean restrooms, rough entry driveway into RV park, which slows everyone down to a crawl. Cash or check as they don't accept credit cards. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Extraordinarily beautiful place with exceptional management. Long quiet hours and lovely garden setting make being outside here most peaceful. A short handful of strictly enforced rules make for a relaxed, wonderful place to be with very clean facilities. Pond-side sites work for internet satellite access. The prettiest pet area I've ever seen. A fence around it to let the dogs play together would make this place perfect! We camped here in a Motorhome.
The Azalea Glen RV Park & Campground in Trinidad California was the most comfortable place that we have ever visited. The flowers and plants were beautifully maintained. The park management was exceptional. In all of our stays in RV parks none have equalled Azalea Glen. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is the cleanest place we have ever stayed! Waking up at the edge of the pond was like waking up in the midst of a Monet painting! The grassy sites and privacy fences between sites showed the high standards of care that these folks put into making this park comfortable for travellers. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is a very nice small campground. It is not your typical parking lot layout. We checked all the campgrounds in the area and found Azalea Glen to be the nicest and most scenic in the area. The sites are on grass and are either in the sun or shade. The interior loop road is packed gravel. The area is very nicely landscaped with large trees and flowers. Bushes separate most of the campsites. The pond is very lovely but the sites next to it are pretty short for larger RVs. Patrick's Point State Park, one of our favorite parks because if its diversity of trees, ferns, rugged coastline and hiking trails, is right across the street. The campground does not accept credit cards. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Nice smaller quiet park. About 1/3 of the sites are permanent type. Lots of flowers and
shrubs. The lake is actually a lily pond with ducks. Some sites are close together. Modem hookup is in the laundry room. Rate was for a pond site. Walk to Patrick's Point State Park via a shortcut trail. Accepts only cash or check. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We ended up staying here because the park we originally had our reservations at, was
scary. We explained our situation to the owner of Azalea Glen and she was sympathtic. She told us to pick out a space and she would hold it for us till we arrived the next day. When we told her which space we liked, she suggested a different one a couple more down from it. She explained that the one we had chosen would be shady most of the day during this time of the year. It turned out she was right. About 1/2 of the park is filled with permanent residents, but you couldn't really tell. Their spaces were kept very tidy. I think the owners run a pretty tight ship. All the facilities were spotless. Modem hookup in the laundry room. Patrick's Point State Park is literally right across the street. When we weren't out exploring the local Redwoods, we hung out at the their duck pond. The only reason this park doesn't get a 10 is due to the fact that every once in awhile, you could hear a truck go past on the freeway. The next time we head up to the Northern California Redwoods, the ONLY place we'll be interested in staying will be here. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This park was OK. Great location but very old conditions. I only stayed one night and wasn't too impressed. It is close to all the beautiful sites of Trinidad. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Gentleman at check in was very friendly but this was not good RV park for our purposes. It is almost exclusively permanent RV's and park models with a handful of spots for overnight or short term stays. Interior roads were fine except for a couple of speed bumps angled to feel really huge; site was level and large enough but not big by any means. The dump was flooded out when we were there in January. The bathrooms, showers and laundry were OK, not overly modern or clean but acceptable. We wouldn't stay there again, we would try the Emerald Forest just down the street. It looks more like a campground than a mobile home park. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We arrived thinking we could use Passport America card as they were advertised in the book
but only to be notified that they were no longer honoring the price made us unhappy. The owner Ron and Tersesa were very informative of the area and gave us
great information of the area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Old park but still good. We backed into a "water view" site but the view was barely visible through the dense trees. Although we could hear the seals barking during the night! We paid cash and got a "discount" of $5 off the credit card rate. Quiet park worked just fine for us for overnight. No amenities to speak of and $30 seemed a bit steep. Overpriced, but if we had to, I'd stay here again. There's not much else to choose from in the area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Breathtaking, beautiful park with large sites nestled in Giant Redwoods and Ferns. Dry camping. Clean coin shower. Dump station. If you have not camped here you should! You will need reservation. Park is on cliffs above beach. Many very private sites. Not too far from Trinidad.. Hiking trails above and down to beach paved roads for biking. Not far from lovely Trinidad, Redwoods, Roosevelt Elk herds & an Indian Casino. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Our reserved site was situated so that it was nearly impossible to get our trailer backed in. We found a vacant alternate site which was great. Camp staff were friendly and helpful in allowing the switch. On a less positive note, the restrooms had a musty barn odor (to put it mildly), and are long overdue for refurbishing. Same for the showers, which require quarters to boot. A sign said quarters are available at the Visitor's Center. We went there and learned they didn't have change for the showers. After having just come from some Oregon campgrounds, (where water/electricity hookups are standard), we were disappointed in California to have to pay more per night without any of these amenities. Another negative was the evidence of drug use/discarded paraphernalia in the bushes behind our campsite. (I had to explain to my kids that Humboldt County has the most liberal drug laws in the state.) It's too bad, because the location and scenery are spectacular. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Beautiful ocean views! Nice campgrounds. No hook-ups but worth the view. Hot showers and hiking trails. Lots to see and do. Sumeg Village is beautiful and a working replica of a Yurok Indian village. Educational! If you visit Trinidad, it's a must see. We camped here in a Motorhome.
As with another California state park that we stayed at on this trip, we found this park in need of a lot of deferred maintenance. The setting is really nice - lots of big evergreens and views of the ocean from the top of a bluff. Some of the sites are set down in the lower forest, but the best sites are up on the bluff where you can see the ocean and it is not so gloomy in the winter. Be aware that if you are here in the winter you will find that the sites are pretty muddy and soggy. Quite a few people living in the park in make-shift camps. I do have to complement the park hosts though who seemed to be really trying to do the best they could given the limited resources they had. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Poorly maintained. Pads covered with grass. Animal waste everywhere. No one in the office during our 24 hours in the park. Sewer connection was so far back that I waited till we left, then moved the trailer further back to connect and dump. We left money in an envelope in a simple box at the door. Anyone could have reached in the slot to take it. Not our problem. Long time campers said that the park was either in bankruptcy or nearly so. On a positive note, it's a nice setting, with elk roaming around, fog rolling in from the ocean. Dry Lagoon State Park was a one mile walk, starting just across the road. Sites were wide, though no shrubbery or trees separated the sites. Note that earlier reviewers said they take Passport America. But PA does not list them now. $27 was too high for this park. I would pass this one by in the future. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
The park is up for sale and it shows. Maintenance has stopped and the place is going down hill. I have a surge protector that cuts off the AC power to my coach if the voltage is high or low. The voltage at our site, and I assume all other sites, was 133+ volts. My surge protector constantly cut off and on for the four days I was there. It was a real pain. The wifi was down the entire time we were there. The place has a lot of potential, but uninspired management. We camped here in a Motorhome.
As we take this 10000 mile journey, I've learned 2 things about my Passport America membership, 1) it only takes 1 night to pay for it (thank God,) and 2) many of the campgrounds that are PA sites NEED it to compensate for their complete lack of desirability. This campground is no exception. They say the normal rate is like $40 so you get full hookups for $20. When we were there, it was mostly empty. The park is dirty, sites are all grass and dirt, light poles are missing or have burnt out bulbs and are covered with cobwebs. You have to have a key for the bathrooms/showers, which means if you're leaving early the next day, you either shower in the coach or give up your $5 key deposit. This worked for us basically for the overnighter we were there, but I wouldn't recommend it at all. If you drive up the coast a bit closer to the Redwoods area, there are many more parks in this price range that looked much nicer from the road. One positive, don't miss the Palm Cafe in Orick, it was great diner food, and the folks were great. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Very nice RV park. We stayed in the Stone Lagoon portion of the complex. Would not want to stay in the Redwood Trails area as it is completely covered with trees and very dark and damp. Stone Lagoon portion is out in the open and very nice. Elk roam throughout the facility. WiFi available at the "barn" and is user friendly. Would stay here again with our RPI membership. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is a Passport America park, and the above rate reflects that. I believe they were charging $25 to non-Passport folks. DO NOT arrive here after dark, or if you do, make sure to check things out on foot before driving your rig down a dead end road, as we did. Turns out that the road is marked with a small sign with non-reflective paint. Anyway, the meadow is definitely a safer and easier place to park at night, though it is not particularly level. The whole place is very poorly lit, though this is not an issue if you go in the summer or arrive earlier. The office was closed when we got there (5:30), and there were no maps. WiFi works, though the signal is weak and did not reach to our coach. The Elk were a definite plus to us. We'd stay there again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We've camped here twice in our 40' big rig. It's a wonderful spot because of the resident Roosevelt elk herd that feeds and often sleeps in the meadows nearby. On our Sept. 2007 visit, the herd walked right through the motorhome section and many of them posed for photos. Even though the park is just off Hwy 101, we've found it to be quiet with friendly management. Great spot for wildlife; sites are in a large meadow. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a nice park in the redwoods. Nice staff. Resident Roosevelt elk herd to take pictures of. Very green and a nice walk over to the beach. We will stay here again. Plenty of room for big rigs. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We reserved 7 days here and only stayed 1. The site was covered with large dropping from
the elk. The park is nothing more than an uneven grass field, no trees, with a few gravel roads. There was no cable TV. It was right next to the highway. We were very disappointed and will not stay here again. The rate was based on Coast to Coast membership. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Wonderful older park. We had a view of the ocean from our site and could hear the sea lions each day. Very clean park and convenient to the beach. The grounds and flowers are lovely. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is an average park. Internet and cable worked great but the hot tub was not working. We had deer walk through the site next to us and we could hear the sea lions. It was easy in and out. It was a bit of a walk down the road to get to the state park trails. We would camp here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This park is nice but not anything like it's website looks! We were a little disappointed because we thought we'd have a much better view of the ocean. It is really just a little view through the trees but the fog prevents you from seeing the ocean. The park is across the street from the ocean which is not obvious from the website pictures. The people are very friendly and helpful and the restrooms and showers very clean. Nice laundry room and weight room. Hot tub was not working while we were there. It is quite close to Patrick's Point State Park and that is great. It is a nice park but not quite what the website portrays. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
I was a little disappointed with this park for the price. The park has well maintained grounds, but the sites are not 100% level, there is some good terracing up the hillside, but the sea view is very limited to between the trees. We took a premium site for this reason and were disappointed. The other strange thing was that there are no locks on the toilet doors, 2 of the showers in the ladies did not work, especially if the washing machine was being used and there were no lights in the showers. Otherwise we loved the area and walked to the State Park to see the Sea Lions and do some rock pooling (about 30 minutes). We stayed 1 night. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Great location. We had a premium ocean site which is actually a view through trees. But it is beautiful and you hear sea lions from your camp site. Laundry area is extremely clean. Wi-Fi was the best. Spotty cell phone service in this entire area because of all the trees. Our site had its own fire pit which was nice: even if we had a skunk join us at the fire one night. Great central location to spend time visiting both sections of the Redwoods. Highly suggest staying here, but bring your own firewood with you. It is around $8 a bundle in this area if you can find any. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Had a nice wide back-in site with a large grass area. The WiFi worked very well. Stayed 3 nights and would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The previous review is correct about the condition of the park. There are a lot of flowers & it looks very pretty. However, the owner is very moody. When we arrived, we had reserved a pull through with the internet rate, which was the cash price. The lady I spoke to, at the time of reserving said I could write a check. The guy said no way, I'd have to go to the bank and get cash if I wanted that price. He would charge us full price and if we brought in cash he would refund the difference. I think he should have honored what we were told. The "pull-through" lot, was not a pull through for a 40' motorhome, so he told us to back it in. It was on the corner and was completely grass. Good thing we have heavy pads for our jacks because the pads were completely buried by the time we left. I like having grass but there was no patio so we had to put our outdoor carpet on the grass. One of the ladies working here told us the owner wouldn't like that, but I said if I had a patio I'd remove it, but otherwise it stayed. Don't pay a premium for an ocean view, you can see it at a distance through the trees. Those are the only ones with shade, but since the sun didn't shine the entire time we were here, it really didn't matter. The rest of the pull throughs are all gravel and very narrow, so I would agree with the previous reviewer, ask for a back in site. The location is good for seeing the redwoods and the Avenue of the Giants, but I might check out some of the other parks around. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Owner takes pride in immaculate, well-manicured and beautiful grounds within walking distance of state park. Restrooms and showers are clean; laundry room is good. Pull through sites are narrow if you have slideouts; opt for a back-in, which are wider and have grass. We stayed for three nights; location is great for Redwood Parks' trips and easy accessibility. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We stayed 5 nights with full hookups. Bathrooms had a major water leak from a broken water main. They were fixing it while we were there. Park is old, but clean and well maintained. It has lots of permanent residents. We paid extra for an ocean view, but had to back into the site in order to use the hookups. Rather disappointed with the view! No signage on Highway 101 to let you know where they are located. Small narrow roads made it hard to disconnect/connect our tow vehicle. Entrance driveway into RV park is in disrepair. Most likely will not stay at this park again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We chose this park based on the name and it did not disappoint. We could hear the sea lions on the rocks below the entire time we were here. Our site had a pretty view of the waves crashing on the rocks below, but it was also in full shade and thus was cold inside. Might choose a site up on the terraced area in the sunshine next time. The park is nice with good cable and Wifi. Showers and laundry are older but efficient and clean. We would stay here again. Loved the peace and quiet. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice quiet camp. The only noise was the Sea Lions from the nearby park. The road south of it is in really bad shape so approach from the north. Good Wi-Fi and cable. Nice friendly staff. The owners house/office is a 1911 school house. This is our 2nd visit. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is our absolute favorite full service RV park when visiting Trinidad, which we do several times each year. We have found the facilities to "always" be clean, welcoming, and impeccably maintained. The owner spends a great deal of time personally working the property and as he lives on site is available for questions. We brought our entire family here for a reunion, so had several sites and rented a cabin for those that did not have rigs. The cabin was clean and well stocked and reasonably priced. We camped in the Super Sites, so had lots of space with an distant ocean view, and great privacy. Other sites have ample room, but not quite the amenities as the super sites. You may want to ask for the lower sites that back towards a shaded view of the ocean. On a visit 2 years ago we had a problem with our 5th wheel slide on a Holiday. The owner was most helpful to direct me to the best repair location in the area and came by several times to make sure we were OK. Much can be written about the surrounding area including one of the jewels of the California State Park system (Patrick's Point State Park). The other must see places are too many to list here, but look in the office to find good information or ask the owner. If you are looking for a quality RV park in the best location while visiting Trinidad, Sounds of the Sea is your best bet. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We stay in this park 3-4 times a year; it is across the street from the ocean, and two of the sites are ocean view. It is about a mile from Patricks Point State Park, which we love. There are many trails within the park to the ocean (not within the RV park). The town of Trinidad is charming-this park is about 5 miles north. The staff is friendly and everything is clean. Cable TV and Internet is available. We certainly will stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Standard back-in or pull-through sites, level gravel, with a picnic table and section of grass. Park was immaculate, rest rooms and showers were clean. Free Wi-Fi and cable TV worked fine. We stayed in the flat lower section of the park (sites are side by side), eight more site up the hill, each with a wooden patio and table (more separation between RVs). Quiet at night. Group fire pits in different areas. Staff was helpful with local information. Store in the office has basic supplies, or you are 6 miles from town. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Low water pressure. We didn't even have enough water to properly flush our toilet in the motorhome. It was NOT our filter, pressure was great at the next RV park. Website alludes to water front views, and fantastic ocean scenery, but it's not visible from the park due to heavy, heavy tree growth at the property line. Don't pay for the "premium site" it's not worth it. Beautiful Patrick's Point State Park a couple of miles down the road will give you the beach and all the scenery. Nice laundry facility. Steep hill going up to the sites but easy to get into site. Quite a few park models in the park but still room for big rigs. Sites are not wide but enough room to put out slides and chairs. Neighbors are close on each side. We probably would not stay here again because of water pressure. AT&T cell service was terrible here, not the fault of the park. Verizon air card was ok. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The park was well maintained and very clean. We were concerned we would not be able to get the 5th wheel in because of the uphill entrance, but had no problem. The hiking was spectacular and the sunset view was amazing. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This park was a nice surprise. When we arrived we were a little disappointed that we couldn't see the ocean, but the next day the fog cleared and we could. The TV and internet was excellent and the town of Trinidad was delightful, ocean views are great! Good sized pull through site and the spa was wonderful! We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice park with good facilities, we camped there in a group, we would go again. A little dated and the store is not stocked well, but the location is excellent and the grounds are great. Trinidad is a beautiful area for outdoor activities. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We stayed for three nights in one of the "super sites", which are gravel with a small grassy area. These sites do have an ocean view, although no direct access to the beach. The laundry room was spotless, and the bathhouse was dated but clean. The price was a little steep (2 adults, 2 kids), but the location is good for day trips to Patricks Point and Prairie Creek St. Parks as well as downtown Eureka. Check-in was easy and the staff was pleasant. We'll stay here again next time we're in the area. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Clean and friendly, just missing a little bit like paper towels in restrooms and somewhere to put your clothes during a shower. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This park was a great disappointment from the spacious ad they had in Woodall's. The ad shows ocean overlook sites, but when you get here you can see a little patch of water between some trees and the roof of someone's house. The site they gave us was way too small for a 30 foot motorhome. I was right up next to the utilities on one side and their rotting deck on the other. You couldn't get out of the motorhome without wedging yourself between the deck railing and the motorhome. I had a heck of a time getting out in the morning. You had to pull up a steep hill and make a sharp turn to the left but there wasn't enough clearance for the rear of the MH. The grounds are neat and well kept. I don't know what they mean by a super lot. The WiFi was very good. The walk to the beach sneaks you into the state park through a trail off the highway. The park people should put a toll booth up there. It was a very long walk to get a look at the ocean. This was the most we have paid for a campsite anywhere, and we have been in some real nice ones. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Stayed here for a week in one of the Super Sites. They are very nice and indeed have a view of the Ocean. Each has a nice deck. This place is clean, nicely landscaped and the owners are very friendly. Would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This delightful, small park is well-landscaped, quiet and is a nice overnight stopover. You have to have better ears than mine, however, to hear the actual “sounds of the sea,” which is accessible only by way of a three-quarter mile walk along a fairly narrow street with narrow shoulders. Wi-fi worked great, but water pressure, at about 30 psi, was too low. Long termers took-up about half the spaces, but mostly at a level that is separate from the short term spaces. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Quiet and nice: you can hear the sea otters on the beach across the road. Everything was clean and tidy. We had a pull-through site and there was ample room for the motorhome and toad. The staff was helpful when asked about restaurants and what to see in the area. Showers were hot and clean. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Wow, what a great park. The sites were plenty long and wide. The hookups worked great. It was nice and quiet and close to the beaches and the Redwoods. The staff was very friendly. We would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
After reading some of the comments on this site, I was thinking we may need to cancel our reservation. However, we didn't and we stayed here all of last week. I have to say it was great. The owners were nice and helpful. The facilities are all clean and well kept. It was a very adult and quiet, which was perfect. Some of the sites are a bit close together, but it really wasn't a big deal. Pets are welcome as long as you are responsible with them. The owners of the property didn't care what they were doing as long as the pets parents were cleaning up after them and not letting them run a-muck. I gave them a 9 out of 10 simply because of the sites being close together. But I would certainly stay here again and I would highly recommend them. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This was a nice park. Small and quiet. We just camped overnight but did not have any problems. It is kind of close to move around but the spaces were wide enough. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We enjoyed an off season rate for a nice pull-through with patio, chairs and table. A peaceful park with full hook-ups. Our cell phones, air-card and satellite TV worked without issue. Half dozen stored trailers and park models yield a tired, cobbled look upon entry; however the warm, friendly staff helped offset that first impression. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Good stop for exploring the area. Park is gravel, half permanent sites but well kept. Staff friendly. Free wifi, excercise room. No playground for kids, but state park is 1 mile up the road. Very limited options for shopping, gas up and fill the fridge before heading out. We visited Prairie Creek and Fern Canyon from here. We camped here in a Motorhome.
A very nice park. It was quiet, clean, and well maintained. We had a site with an ocean view and there was a huge gnarly tree and lush green vegetation outside our back window. We had an internet connection but it was weak. The downside was that spaces are close together. But then we're used to national and state parks where the sites tend to be farther apart. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We stayed for two months and loved it. Beautiful landscaping, great cable and Wi-Fi, friendly owner and staff, nice workout room, large hot tub, beautiful setting across the street from the cliffs overlooking the Pacific. You could hear the waves and the sounds of the sea lions. Convenient to Trinidad and Eureka, within walking distance of Patrick's Point State Park and Agate Beach. Trinidad is a charming, beautiful city. DON'T MISS IT!! If you like privacy, they have large sites on a hillside where you have your own private deck and are at least 20 - 30 feet away from the next RV. We camped here in a Motorhome.
What a difference driving another 50 feet north from View Crest Lodge. We left a slum and found paradise! Great managers! Clean friendly park. We'll come back next year for sure! We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a neat and clean park, but the sites are darned small for a big rig. Also, in order to "hear the sounds of the sea and the seals on the rocks" as they claim, you better have a bionic ear. It is up a hill and a significant distance across the road from the ocean. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Well, if you like the cool weather in the hot summer, the sounds of the ocean and seals at your RV site, a pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff, you will love this Park. Our only regret was that we could not stay more than one night. It is down in our book as a "Must Return" spot. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed here June 1 - 3, 2005 on one of the "Super Sites" with patio & fire ring, and a very nice ocean view. The park & facilities were spotless with a friendly staff. Trinidad has alot to offer for the varied interests of our family and we plan to come back. We camped here in a Motorhome.

I stayed here for two days in summer of 2004. I had made a two week advance reservation for a "super site" and arrived to find it occupied. They put me into another site and told me my refund for the difference would be taken care of the next day. I went to the office the next day, close to closing time, and my refund was still not processed. I was then told the price difference between my expected site and occupied site was only $3.00 a day. The sign on the wall said it would be $5.00 a day. Not a big deal, just principal. Never did receive refund. Nice area, poor management of park. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Stayed here in April so we got winter rates. You can see the ocean from most sites and
can hear sea lions barking off in the distance. Has wi-fi wireless computer network with up to 54Mps (G) connection. Has Cox cable TV with about 70 channels. Nice owners who were accessible most of the time. Also has some rentals. We ended up here after staying one day in another park in the area. I spent the next day checking out several parks in the area and would stay at this park again if visiting this area. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

A great location in the Redwoods of Northern California near the Pacific. I really liked the
area and the Park was very relaxing and peaceful. The only parks I give "10's" to however are fully landscaped, grass and paved sites, such as Benbow Golf
and RV Resort in Garberville which we stayed at on the way up north. This park does not have those types of sites, but I would stay here again.

Stayed 7 days off season early December. A few long pull throughs, lots of back-ins. Only a few sites gave ocean view. We used their most expensive site, ocean view, under trees. Restroom and shower were very clean, lots of hot water and no pay showers, but no soap in restroom. They had serious roof leakage in laundry/modem hub area during several days of rain. Cable TV was substandard signal and power was sometimes low. This was on 30 Amp. Staff was nice, but only there mid day. We would stay there again, but there is are better camps in the area. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This RV park is very rustic and has a western feel. There is horse pasture backing part of the property and horses will greet you at the fence line if you have a treat for them. There is a herd of wild Elk that come into the campground daily, which is quite amazing. There is a little bit of elk droppings, "so watch your step!" The campground has seen better days but is good for an overnight stop. The manager bakes the best blackberry pie I have ever eaten, the pie is worth the stop! They are extremely friendly and helpful! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Park has nice grassy areas to park on, very clean camping areas with picnic table and quiet. It's also close to the beach access. The girls in the office are very nice and funny. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We paid $38 to park our 5th wheel for the night. When we hooked up, we discovered there was no cable tv or wifi, only electric, sewer, and water. The site was a large pull-through but was just grass, no trees or separation between sites, and we needed to use leveling blocks. The people in the office were very nice and friendly. The store is not well-stocked. I needed a box of sugar and a gallon of drinking water. They didn't have either. We will try another park next time we go that way. I wouldn't recommend this one. It's too expensive for what you get. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
From the road the park looked nice but once we got in, it was OK. the grass needed mowing badly but they were slowly working on it with a bush hog mower. In talking with some people that were members of the park, they understood the park was having monetary problems and would possibly be closing. The back part where the shade trees are, was closed and this is where the members were suppose to be parked but they were in the open like we were. The plus to the park is there is a herd of elk that come through the park at dusk and stay the night. It was neat to have them all around. Only watch where you walk since the grass was not mowed. The store is not well stocked but if they are on the brink of closure, that could be understood. This could be a very nice place if kept up. The people were very friendly. The restrooms were closed so if you needed them, sorry. Thank goodness we are fully contained and did not. Not really sure on actual number of sites since some were closed. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We loved our stay here. We liked our site and felt that it was private. The staff here was SO friendly! The kids really liked the playground area even though it was a bit small. They did have a big lawn space to run around on, and they were quick to lend us play equipment (a volleyball). They also have bikes you can rent - even kids' bikes - but we ran out of time. We did a load of laundry here and had no problems. We also really appreciated that we were close enough to walk to the little town & a couple beaches. We got a great restaurant recommendation, & we didn't have any trouble with the noise (I felt like the campground was tucked away). They also had some nice looking cabins for rent and even talked with a couple from Oregon who returns here regularly to stay in the cabins. I also highly recommend the short drive to Moonstone Beach. We had a great day there. I saw that some of the reviews said it was dusty - I could see that, but everything was very damp while we were there (a few rainy days - even in June) so that wasn't a problem. We will return here if we're ever in the area again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Site not close to level either way. Good privacy between sites, lots of dust as roads are mostly dirt. Would not use laundry! Lots of highway noise from 101, but less after midnight. We will stay at another Park next time. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Do you prefer scenery or amenities? Forest setting: A++. Laundry room: F (a few rusted machines). Bathrooms: D- (tiny; broken vents; showers flood toilet area). Roads: F (exit road severely potholed); roads in need of fresh gravel to keep dirt to a minimum. If you want amenities, stay elsewhere and get A++ scenery at the many surrounding state parks. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed for two nights to explore the surrounding areas in a motorhome towing a trailer about 50 ft long. They were able to accommodate us and the staff was nice. The campground is nestled in a stand of redwoods and is lovely. If you are not used to maneuvering in tight areas, you may not like this campground. It was a very quiet campground, clean, and it felt like you were somewhere deep in the woods. We camped here in a Motorhome.
A spiritual, healing place in the redwoods. AAA, Good Sam, Escapees discounts. Lovely sites, some full hookups, some pull-throughs. Water pressure 30#. We thought maintenance is very good. Good cable TV, adequate Verizon signal. Excellent nearby restaurants include Moonstone Grill and Larrupin Café. Some highway noise, not much traffic at night. Yes, can be muddy in wet weather, but we prefer redwood forest floor over paving and fear paving would harm the trees. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Credit cards accepted. Park has ambitious recycling program. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We loved this campground. We were traveling with friends and owners went out of their way to make sure we were camped next to each other. A perfect place to stay and see the redwoods. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We enjoyed this campground, small but well maintained. The owner is very friendly and apparently paying a lot of effort to keep the campground in good shape. It is right next to the state park with stunning view. You can walk into the state in minutes. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
Pretty good stop over park for a few days. Rustic appearance is intentional I believe. Road noise was there, but didn't bother us. Somewhat gloomy, however the weather itself was not the greatest and this RV park would be welcoming on a hot day. WiFi and cable TV worked very well. It's dog friendly too. Nice sites, but not if you want pavement. Super beach right in town. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
It was a very nice park, except that all ground was dirt, with moisture in the air, made for mud tracks in trailer. The showers ran out of hot water quickly, but the park being in the middle of redwood trees made for nice scenery. The morning could have been a morning for sleeping as the sun never came through the trees. If this park was $10 cheaper the rating might be higher, except for the lack of concrete or gravel instead of dirt. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This park would probably get a rating of 8 if the owners did some maintenance. Dirt roads don't do well in the rain, everything was muddy and miserable. I would not recommend or stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is a charming old, small cabins type motel that added RV sites. The environment is among the majestic California Redwoods, thus it is a little dark, and not paved. You are within a mile of the thrilling California seashore. The cable TV is good (satellite is difficult due to the trees). The owners were more than gracious in refunding us money when our travel plans changed. I also won $625 at the nearby Casino the last night we were here. The casino has a restaurant with a terrific ocean view. To me the value for price was terrific. Our rate reflects a weekly discount of 1 free day a week. They did say that they had a 2 week limit in the park, but you could go out to one of the many nearby parks for a day and come back. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Totally confused on past reviews unless you really like "rustic" which I translate to run-down! What a dump. Dark and dreary with dirt roads and sites which is a mud bath when it rains. When checking in you are informed not to do any damage to it's natural state which is quite a chuckle considering the condition of the place! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
What a pleasure to find this charming park at the end of a long day. It is rustic without pavement, but well maintained with good hookups. Cable and Wi-Fi good. We were the only unit in the pull through sites and felt a bit lonely, especially when cell service was minimal. The mgr assured us they have had no problems, but if we needed any help just to hit the horn button on our tow vehicle. He was in one of the cabins adjacent to us and would respond to any difficulty that we might encounter. I suspect this would be a wonderful spot during the high season on sunny days. The heavy foliage made it a bit closed in on a dreary February day. However, our dog loved the park and we would definitely come back. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Fabulous, beautiful, breathtaking, fantastic staff, always friendly people, not one bad campsite, great walking around park with ferns, huge redwoods and streams. Out of fog normally. A MUST stay park! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We loved this park. The price reflects Go America discount through Resort Parks International. It has very fast internet. There are nice roomy drive through sites. We were in the front, the back sites are very close to Highway. There are lots of really neat large redwood trees. Our only issue was our location right next to a very large diesel generator which kicks on when if the power dies - which it did for a few moments during a storm. We love the idea of always having power, but that sucker is very NOISY! There is a complete recycling center and the park has very nice cabins. We'd go back anytime! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Having been mislead by ReserveAmerica as to site availability in the nearby State Park: we were fortunate to find a site here after driving over 200 miles. My family and I were grateful to Emerald Cove for giving us a site for 3 nights without a prior reservation. This park is clean and the pull-through sites were easy to navigate. The town of Trinidad is just a few minutes down the road for groceries, gas, sightseeing, etc. With State campgrounds now charging ridiculous fees for no-hook-ups sites, I would rather pay for a site in a private facility like Emerald Cove where I can have every convenience that makes camping a pleasant experience. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This park is in a nice, peaceful forest setting with gravel interior roads and dirt sites. I can imagine that during the rainy season: tracking in mud might be a problem. Good free Wi-Fi connection speed. The biggest potential negative is that sites F92-F99 back up to Hwy 101. Fortunately this area is lightly traveled so the traffic was very light at night. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is one of the best parks we have ever stayed in. The bathrooms were not only clean, but they were individual bathrooms. We had site 22 which is a back in, but huge. We were able to put up our screen room, chairs and still had more than enough room for a campfire. The staff was great, friendly and knew the area. The site was clean and there was no road noise. Our site was tucked into the redwoods with a canopy of trees. It was truly wonderful. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We camped here in mid July 09. Loved the grounds and all of the trees - beautiful! Spaces 11 and 12 were the best, but no sewer hook up for space 12. Spaces 15-17 were ok but too close to the bath house. Space 20 is a pull through site and great for big RV's. The playground leaves something to be desired - smelled like a sewer leak. Staff on site were very nice and helpful! We camped here in a Motorhome.
Acres of giant redwoods and in between these magnificent trees are REV pads with full hook ups. Barely off the secondary road this is a rustic camp setting. The facilities are a bit dated, rustic camp/cabin type dated, but clean. Only 30 Amp service available (I suspect a little less than 30 Amps); until I got a handle on my energy management I kept breaking the circuit; it definitely will not handle any kind of electric heat or air conditioning (although the trees keep the sun out). It had rained for almost a week by the time I got here and my site was a bit soggy; I had to use jack pads on the soggy ground. My Satellite TV could not pick up a signal through the dense trees, but we enjoyed the radio and reading. Wi-Fi worked fine. About a mile walk to the nearest beach; a little less than a mile to the tiny, tiny town of Trinidad. Come for the spectacular scenery of rugged Coast and dense forest and you can tell your friends you actually camped in the middle of a redwood forest. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The positives: Lovely location in a redwood grove, WIFI worked, close to Trinidad and beaches, nice outbuildings that looked like they belonged in an enchanted forest. The air smelled wonderful due to the trees and dampness. The negatives: Since the sites are not paved or grassy, we found it quite messy entering & leaving our rig--very wet and full of leaves and needles to track in. Also, there was fresh damp mud here and there since they have areas 'under construction'. We were surprised to fine that we were so close to 101, and heard trucks all night long. We were in the showers at around 5AM--they were really a mess, cold, and dark. My husband said he thought Sasquatch had showered before him, due to the matts of hair on the shower walls and on the floor. Women's shower/restroom was no less dirty. That part was a big disappointment to us, so I doubt we'd stay again, given the many choices in the area. We camped here in a Motorhome.
A beautiful campground under large redwood trees. It is well maintained with easy access in and out. We stayed in site 20, which was very large and far from the highway, though it is right next to a row of very nice looking little cabins. We'd ask for this same site next time. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is a wonderfully well-run park. Very little sun, in the middle of a redwood forest. We were in site #93 - a huge site. It did back up to the 101 but in northern California that doesn't amount to much. We stayed 3 nights and would definitely stay here again if in the area. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We spent two weeks at this park, waiting for a grandchild to be born. Trinidad is a wonderfully picturesque little town and Emerald Forest RV is a great park right in the redwoods, within walking distance of the town itself. The park is very well run. The staff are friendly and accommodating, and everything is clean and tidy. The park is family friendly. We will stay here again, for sure. Wi-fi and cable TV worked fine. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Always a pleasure to stay here. Views are spectacular. You camp next to huge redwood trees. The rugged beach of N. Calif is minutes away. Rained a lot when we were there, but nothing you can do about that! Staff friendly and helpful! We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is an excellent RV park. The setting is magical, as you are literally camping among the redwoods. Nice people. The best WiFi connection I have had in a long time. Easy to get in and out in my 36' class A. Just up the road from Trinidad and the casino. They also have great tent camp sites and a number of small cabins. We will be back. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a wonderful experience camping right among the giant redwoods. There was plenty of room for our 40' motorhome. The view out the windshield was spectacular. The office staff was helpful and friendly. It was a very pleasant experience and we would camp here again! We camped here in a Motorhome.
Campground is in the Redwoods but very close to the 101 highway. The interior roads were not maintained and were very muddy in spots. Be sure to stay in the front section of the campground as the traffic noise might bother some folks. The surrounding area is beautiful and warrants exploring. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Friendly staff. Dirt roads with "some" gravel (needs a lot more gravel). Dirt and gravel sites. Sewer connections too high out of ground. Sewer smell prevalent in park. Lots of dust. Nice modem area in store/office. Older park surrounded by lots of trees. Sites not very level. No "instant" phones. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Visited this park because of glowing review in this forum. The review was correct. Very pretty, nice people, good location. Modem hub is inside a redwood stump. No kidding. Cable signal was as good as I've ever seen at a park. Power was fine. The location in the big trees make the park. We only spent one night because there are seven or eight steps up to restrooms and shower. We are both disabled, and
while we can do one or two steps, this was too much. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Magnificent setting with Redwoods towering around your RV. Most sites level on 12 acres of forest. Convenient mini mart. Great for 1-2 nights. Stayed in 2001 and 2002. We camped here in a camper.
ABSOLUTELY NO MANAGEMENT! Poorly maintained park with unleashed dogs running throughout the park. Animal waste in the roadways and trailer spaces. Dirty restrooms, no toilet paper, filthy showers, poorly maintained roadways. Tijuana Mexico has cleaner campgrounds. Two big thumbs down! We camped here in a Motorhome.
When we arrived, we were told we would have the pick of any of the spots. Then she broke out
a map and circled the 5 spaces that were available. We knew then that we were in trouble. On our way up to the RV area we passed trailer after trailer that had obviously been there awhile. Dead vehicles, in unkempt "yards" were everywhere. Needless to say, we made our stop there as short as possible. The only reason this place gets a 4 is because of the owner. When we informed her that we would only be staying 1 night instead of the 4 we had reserved, she cheerfully refunded the remaining balance. Unless you REALLY need a place to stop for the evening, stay away. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
