As stated in previous reviews, good for visiting Joshua Tree NP. No amenities at all, inconvenient from park office to RV sites and not clearly stated where to park for the office. Very sandy and dusty and glad we missed some of the dust storms we were told were horrific when they occurred. Oddly set up, all the "amenities" like shed, cement stand and quasi-garage were located on the driver's side vs where one would actually use them. Don't imagine we'd ever want to stay here again - regardless of the nice commissary and new PX/NEX and gyms on base. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This military park is convenient to Joshua Tree National Park and about 60 mi NE of Palm Springs. Good commissary, PX, service station with diesel (fuel was $0.20 cheaper / gallon in Indio). This is a bare park with few facilities. No rest rooms, showers, laundry (one could shower in the gym). Sites are sandy and would be problematic during rains. Noise from main road into base is bothersome. Most sites are occupied by long-term campers. It's a good place to hang your hat while at nearby National Park. It appears that efforts are underway to improve the park, e.g., with satellite TV and the staff went out of their way to be accommodating, possibly to make up for past deficiencies notes in reviews on other web sites. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
