Price with KOA discount, so a little high. A smaller KOA, so recommend calling ahead for reservation. And talking to others around, this is the nicest RV Park in the area. The sites are large, attractive with shade trees and picnic table, convenient hookups (only 30 amp), and level. Could only get one TV channel, but Dish worked well. Would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is our third stay, here. The sites are wide and level and fairly shady. The pool is clean and there are lots of deck chairs. Overlooking the pool is the bar! They have banana bikes for rent. We love this place! We camped here in a Motorhome.
Big shady trees! Shadiest sites I've ever seen! Wide, level and lots of space. The grounds are very tidy. There is a pub on site! Cool! Drawbacks: There were a lot of bugs, dead and alive, in the johns and a lot of litter on the floors. The dumpsters were right out front of the sites in full view, overflowing and stinky. Detracted from the overall beauty of this park. Pool was clean and tidy. You can rent banana bikes at this park. We'd stay again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is our second KOA, the first was the San Diego Metro one. This is much different. It is fairly small, only 60 sites. The roads and sites are all dirt/gravel. No grass. Be sure you bring your outdoor carpet. It would be better if they pave the roads and plant grass, but I suppose that would be a lot of irrigation. The kids liked the pool and splash zone and playground. They had movie night on Saturday, free ice cream one night and free pancake breakfast on Labor Day. It is a fairly old campground so the shade trees are fully grown and serving their purpose well. We had site 12, behind the camp store and the trees were so good I really didn't need my awning. Overall a good campground, just be prepared for the dust. Only 30 amps at our site. No cable hookup in site. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We really enjoyed this park and would come back here. We stayed the first weekend in August. Our site was clean, and there was plenty of shade from the trees. There were two large groups of tent campers near us, so pretty loud, but since we are a family with young kids this was not a problem for us. The pool and splash pad were fun for the kids, as was the Ice Cream Social on Friday night. We loved the Kamp Kitchen; I cooked our dinner there one night while the family was swimming. Having the store close by was convenient, but there is also the town of Mt Mesa just a few minutes up ahead with a grocery store and gas station. A note to campers: this campground is NOT on the lake; you need to have a car available to reach the lake and also Kern River. All in all, this was a great place for our family to stay! A few of the negatives were that there was quite a bit of dog waste in the campground that was not picked up, and also there isn't a lot of paved area for riding bikes/scooters for the kids. It is quite a noisy campground, but as I mentioned this was not a problem in our case since we have young kids. But I would not recommend this campground for those looking for peace and quiet. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This KOA is very nice, and I am usually not a KOA fan. The camp host was very nice and helpful. They have 10+ sites that are pull through, and very wide for slides and awning. Plenty of room for my 40' MH and 3/4 ton Chevy Crew Cab Tow Vehicle. There are trees on either side, and it was a bit difficult getting into my spot. Once I was in, I went to the front desk and asked if they could trim the trees. They did it right away, and did a great job. All of the trimming that needed to be done was new growth, and the host apologized profusely that he hadn't done it already. He said it was hard to know what to cut without a vehicle there, which I agreed with. This is only 30 amp service, and their 20amp has GFI so cheater boxes will not work. The camp is very clean, the Wi-Fi works well and is free. AT&T works very good with 3G service. The kids playground is new, and maintained well. There is a Kamp Kitchen, and a splash station in addition to the pool. Overall a great park, I would highly recommend this one. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Small park and a good distance from the lake. Kamper kitchen was nice. Also liked the pancake breakfast. Sites are small but OK. Will come back with more time. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We just spent three nights at this KOA in a single room Kabin. We loved it. The park was completely full for Labor Day weekend but we felt like we had room to breath. The owners are wonderful and went out of their way to make everyone feel welcome. Lots of activities for the kids, an ice cream social and a terrific pancake breakfast. We camped here in a Campground Cabin.
The campground was clean. The site and the campground was easy to get into and out of. It's next to a lot of OHV trails and you can ride in and out of the park. It was hot and the site only had 30 amp service. It was very noisy with a lot of rude campers the two days we stayed (walking through campsites, playing loud music very early in the morning). The staff was very friendly and there is the normal KOA stuff like a cooking area, a pool and ice cream at night. You have to drive to the lake and there is not much shade. We probably will not come here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
New owners have made some improvements, but they have a long way to go. It gets hot here and lack of 50 amp service is a real negative. They need to clean up the areas around the sites and the playground. You can't walk anywhere without getting full of foxtails, stickers and burrs. Be prepared to spend time picking the afore- mentioned hitchhikers off of you pets. I think we'll look elsewhere next time. We camped here in a Motorhome.
