A young couple took over last week and seem to be hard working and enthusiastic. There are lots of shade trees, everything seems clean and neat. There are a lot of people that stay for the whole summer. Good fishing nearby. We plan on a longer stay the next time we visit. We camped here in a Motorhome.

There is a younger couple managing this campground who are in the process of buying it. They were very friendly, and suggested one of their nicest sites for us to stay in. What a beautiful place! Lots of trees, a river, and a large fishing pond. Our sire was mostly level, only a slight adjustment. I walked the dog around the entire park and I think every site there is nice. Of course the ones that next to the lake and river are the most desirable, but how can you go wrong here? Lots of water and shady trees. Pet friendly. Courteous, friendly, and helpful hosts. We'll be back for sure! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Contrary to the previous review of June 2012, we found the management of this campground to be sorely lacking. The owner is an absentee owner most of the time. There are too many "work campers" who are here taking advantage of the "system." The campground is for sale, so maybe if an on site owner were to come on board and "clean house," so to speak, that problem would be resolved. The campground in itself has the potential to be a real jewel. It is conveniently located near shopping, golf, fishing, etc. which keeps it as popular as it is. Also, there are many shaded sites, which is nice in the summer months as it does get pretty warm during the day in this part of Colorado in the summer months. The campground could use some updating of the water system also. The water often comes out brownish from the faucet, so use bottled water for drinking, making coffee, etc. Also, the water pressure gets very low at times: don't know why. Anyway, if the place were to sell, and positive changes were made in the above areas, this would be a definite "10." We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a forest service campground. The road to this campground is paved and in good condition. Quite a few of the campsites are along the Dolores River and some of them are big enough for large motor homes. Some of the sites could accommodate 40' motorhomes. The sites have a picnic table and a fire ring. There are 5 electric (30Amp) sites. 15-E is a first come electric site. There are other first come non-electric sites available too. The sound of the river can be heard throughout this pretty campground. Sites appeared to be fairly level, water faucets located around campground loop and trash pickup is provided. TV satellite reception (dome) might come in at some sites, but probably better with a portable dish. This appeared to be a nice quiet little campground. We camped here in a Motorhome.

West of Dolores about 8 miles where the campground is on a hilltop with a nearby overlook grand view of surrounding mountains and lake reservoir. Campground has paved sites and roads. There are several toilet houses without showers and several non-threaded water faucets scattered about campground. Dump near entrance. Fee $10 with Golden Passport. We saw several deer and jackrabbits. Nearby, toward Dolores, is the Anasazi heritage museum-center which is a 10+ excellent exceptional museum beautifully setup. Should be a AAA GEM. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is NOT House Creek Campground which is another campground along the McPhee Reservoir. There are 2 loops, Juniper and Pinyon and they both have electric and non-electric sites. There are back-ins and parallel sites and they all appeared to be wide enough for 4 slides and to park your car. We had power issues in the Pinyon Loop (power was around 94 volts) so moved to Juniper Loop where the power was at 120 volts. The electrical boxes looked like they were new and we had no further issues. Water faucets are scattered around the loops and they are not threaded. A dump station is located near the entrance of the campgrounds and has potable water. It’s an attractive campground with plenty of space between sites. Not all sites are level some are on a slightly downhill slant. Each site has a fire ring and the picnic table is handicap friendly. We had to use our cellphone antenna with the booster to get a strong enough signal for Verizon. Didn’t have any problems getting our dome satellite in. The park is far enough off the main highway for some peace and quiet and a good night sleep. There’s a camp host in each loop and they’re very nice people. This campground is on the reservation system but there are plenty of first come electric and non-electric sites. There were quite a few sites unoccupied over the Memorial Day Weekend. Camping rate for an electric site was $10.00 with the Golden Age Pass. We would stay here again when in the area. We camped here in a Motorhome.

BE AWARE: There are some discrepancies on the prices as far as what the website says, what ReserveAmerica says, and what you find out when you get here. There are only 4 sites with full hook-ups and you have to pay $25/night for these. There are also about 16 electric only sites. When you make a reservation through ReserveAmerica, they only collect the basic fee; be prepared to pay for other services when you get here. This is a very nice, quiet park in beautiful SW Colorado. Even on a summer weekend the park was almost empty. The host was very helpful and sells firewood and ice. A short drive down the hill is the reservoir. About 6 miles away is a convenience store where you can pick up bait and a fishing license (It's the Phillips gas station). Dolores is small and Cortez is about 12 miles away, do try to come with all you need. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is the new McPhee Recreation Complex, run by the USDA Forest Service (not the old House Creek campground which is on the other side of the reservoir). The sites vary in size, but some are large enough for 40' MH. Boat ramp is a short drive from the campground. Campground has nice trails with incredible views over the reservoir (500 feet below) and some Colorado peaks. Only four full hookups, 16 with electric and some with water. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a wonderful campground in the San Juan Forest near Delores and is very convenient to Mesa Verde National Park. There are only two sites with full hook ups. These rent for $25 a night. Eighteen sites have electrical hook ups and cost $20. Sites with no hook ups are $15. Golden Passport holders get $7.50 off. Reservations can be made and are recommended for the full hookups and for people who just have to have electricity. The park rarely fills so you stand a good chance of getting a site without reservations. There are flush toilets and pay showers. Each of the two loops have hosts who are very friendly and helpful. I loved this campground. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We really love this park. Beautiful location, great staff. On the river, wide spaces, some with grass. Tables, fire ring, free firewood. Neat custom of having guests paint rocks (paint in the office) and leave them in the rock garden. Only complaint was the Wi-Fi. Weak, and often down. It was a problem throughout the park, no matter what device you were using or location in the park. We will definitely return. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Easy well marked access from the main road. Well maintained gravel roads with level gravel sites located adjacent to the Dolores River in the beautiful San Juan Mountains. Utilities are conveniently located and worked properly. The sites are all under trees with many having quality grass between. Quiet setting with fishing, hiking in the area. This is one of the finest RV park we have had the pleasure to stay in. No cell phone coverage but the Wi-Fi worked kind of great, satellite TV worked fine. Free fire wood with a fire ring at each site. RV camping the way it should be! Pet friendly. It’s the totality of the camping experience with mountain setting, spectacular views, sounds of the river and quiet setting, friendly and helpful staff and clean facilities. We will be back!! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We camped here on the 'maiden voyage' in our motorhome. We picked a winner right off the bat. We only stayed 3 nights and then came back later in the summer for a week. Very serene and peaceful with roomy sites. Staff is wonderful and enforce their campground policies, which is very refreshing. It's a distance from the bordering small towns which we liked since we came to relax and enjoy the natural beauty. There is a little camp store that is well stocked with soft serve ice cream and freshly made (by the owner) cinnamon rolls on Sat. mornings. We've booked a site for next year already. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Located up forest route 535 on a paved road this pretty campground has some sites with 30 amp power. Some sites are more out in the open and others are along side of the West Dolores River. We stayed in site #1 (non-electric) which was along the river and very private. It was a huge site with a picnic table and fire ring/grill. We loved this site and it was on the reservation system. The site faces south and we were able to get our dome satellite in. Didn’t see any mosquito's, just lots of butterflies and hummingbirds. The camp hosts, were friendly and very knowledgeable of the area. The bathrooms are located at the far end of the campground. Water is available with a threaded faucet and there is trash service. The closest dump station is Dolores River RV Park in the town of Dolores or Priest Gulch RV Park which is just off of hwy. 145, 35 miles north of Dolores. No cell service here. Great campground!! We camped here in a Motorhome.
