This was an old city park which has been re-configured for RVs. We were at right angles to the rig behind us and our site was sloped. It's a beautiful setting and worth a night or two. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We really enjoyed staying at Chief Hosa Campground for our last night of a great trip with our grandchildren. The restrooms were very clean, and the manager is on top of maintaining a top notch, rural campground. The grandchildren enjoyed the playground area, and could sit and watch the hummingbirds for hours. Thank you. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a really great campground to stay in if you're looking for some peace and quiet, mountain views and lots of hiking trails. The campground does have 5 full hookup spots but 3 of them are usually used by the hosts. We were able to get one of the full hookup sites and it made our stay very convenient. The park is on the mountainside so the roads are dirt and a little steep and curvy in areas but we saw some really big rigs come and go without an issue. The hosts were awesome and the bathrooms were kept very clean. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a small but excellent park. The management is both friendly and helpful. A joy to deal with. The sites are close together but well worth the effort. Clear Creek has a great walking path with easy access to downtown Golden. The park is busy and tough to get into but you will like it once you do. All facilities are clean and well-maintained. We will stay here often! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a nice small park near enough to town to walk to stores and restaurants. It is hard to get into as they do not take reservations. It is in a city park so you share it with a lot of locals. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Small sites, barely enough room for the tow vehicle to park with the trailer. Camper behind us was close enough to reach out and touch the the back. We thought based on the description that we'd be able to walk to Golden, not really possible as it is a distance from the campground. In addition people not staying at the campground had easy access to the campground from the walking path. Do no think we'd stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Way over priced. A bar with live bands immediately across the street with another bar and grill with live music close to another side another side. No cable, no mail service and rules (dogs off leash, other dogs using your space for a bathroom and owners not cleaning up afterwards) are not enforced even when you report them to the staff. Very unfriendly office staff. When you are in the office vestibule the office staffs conversation is amplified and you can very clearly hear their conversations and you get a clear impression of what they think of the customers that are paying their wages. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We arrived here one week after a spring snowstorm that dumped a foot of snow on the Denver area. This park is on a bit of a hillside, tight turns in our 43' RV. Sites are level but hillside runoff drains into your site. On arrival we were originally assigned G1, just behind the registration building. We opened the door and stepped out into a several inches of snow due to shady area. Many other open sites had no snow. Lots of staff around, directing people via golf carts. I recommend they inventory the best spots available, so they make wise site assignments, or shovel them off prior to guest arrivals. We requested to move to G4, up the hill closer to the picnic area. This park had many open sites during our pre-season stay. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Although a bit pricey, this is one of the nicest parks we have stayed in anywhere, and the proximity to Denver, Golden, and the mountains makes the price worth it. Park is in a beautiful setting with great views, the staff is super friendly, and it is easy to get into and out of with paved, level sites. This is the second time we stayed here, and we will come back. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Excellent camping area! Good selection of camping spaces, many of which are pull-throughs, but you need to reserve early because weekends are always full. This is our second time here, and we had site #53. A huge site on a corner, so no view of neighbors, and our pull through was almost 80ft in length! Lots of space between sites for the pull-throughs; back-ins seemed a bit tighter, but still lots of room. Very quiet atmosphere! No clue about the previous poster's dog comments (although we have 2 dogs, Ha! Ha!). No more barking than you would hear anywhere else, less actually. Lots of places to hike, and leashed dogs were allowed on trails. Do watch out for the altitude, 9200 ft is a bit thin air! Cool evenings. Good Ranger programs on weekends. Sites are electric only, but water is available here and there. Dump station is totally rebuilt and very nice! Showers were good, but one bathroom was a wreck according to the wife. Lots and lots of trees! (Watch out when maneuvering trailers). Fairly steep climb, but short, to get to the campground from either entrance. We prefer Highway 72 to Gap Road. Last section is unpaved, so beware. The Golden Gate Canyon Roadway is fully paved, but a bit longer and twisty. All in all, a great place to stay close to Denver and Central City. As a side note on Blackhawk/Central City, it is a total casino town with little else to do. It has definitely lost its small town atmosphere with neat shops. Kind of sad. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

I would have rated this campground a 9 or 10 if it were not for the dogs. Good grief, it must be mandatory for everyone staying here to have 2 dogs. I would not have cared except for with that many dogs there are bound to be owners that simply do not care that their dogs bark incessantly. Sitting around the campfire listening to dogs barking, sigh. Beyond that, the sites were clean and level and plenty of trees. Bathrooms were clean but, I used my motorhome facilities due to warnings from prior posters here about showers. There were a few ranger programs at the amphitheater, even in Sept! I had fair AT&T service (not so much for data). The dump site was easy to use. My 31' Class easily navigated up here via Hwy72 and Gap Road (I was nervous about coming up that way). Easy to make a quick trip to the Casinos if your so inclined. I'll come back for sure but I'll make sure to get a perimeter spot next time so I don't feel like I'm surrounded by barking dogs. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Another one of the beautiful CO State Parks. Additional $10 for reservation plus daily park pass or annual pass required. Camping in the forests is one of our favorite things. But be forewarned. Altitude is 9200 feet (according to the ranger) and bike riding was not possible for this lowlander. I could barely walk without huffing. Only a 45 min beautiful canyon drive to west Denver. Love this place. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This park is the WORST park ever. RUDE staff, small lots, out dated electrical boxes. Very expensive electric bill: $200+ a month no matter if you are here or not. Nit picky!! You will get a note on your door daily. We got our truck stuck in the snow and the manager came out yelling saying we needed to get our truck out of the way NOW. NO HELP AT ALL. Pay the extra money and go across the street! You will be much happier!!! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This was a campground we found in Woodalls that had a vacancy. We had no trouble with our rig getting in and there were 40 ft. motorhomes here as well. It's a doable place, but there are few transients. Most seem to be long term residents. The sites are either gravel or completely concrete. There is little grass anywhere and the dog walk area was an area completely filled in with gravel. We walked our dogs over to an area where a mobile home was deserted and there was no grass, only trimmed weeds. It was stated that if your dog went on their grass, you'd be asked to leave. The sites are so close together that you cannot let out your awning--you or your neighbor have to decide who's going to let their awning out. Our last night, a fifth wheel pulled in with no slides--if he'd had slides, we both could not have let out our slides. They try to solve this problem but having one RV park east to west, and their neighbor is parked west to east. The plus is that you're close to I-70, can go straight downtown to the mint on Colfax(about 12 miles) or to the capital. It's close to Coors Brewery, Red Rocks Amphitheatre and Buffalo Bill Museum and gravesite. There's a much nicer park just across the street with grass at every site at $10 more per night and they charge $3 for 50 amp per night as well as $1 per pet per night. I guess you get what you pay for, but they were full when we got here and this was a doable alternative. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Level sites but VERY narrow, no room to even sit outside. Everything was concrete. Lots of permanent residents. We felt like we had to go to the restroom or walk around the park with a buddy, did not feel safe. We were to stay 3 nights, but after the 1st one left the park for another one. Our credit card was charged for the full 3 nights the day I made the reservation. No refunds allowed. Website shows it is a RPI park, but no discount was allowed. We would DEFINITELY not stay here again or recommend for anyone. We camped here in a Motorhome.

There are 40 sites. Over 30 are very long time permanent residents in mostly rundown old RVs or tents. Campers in the tent area have no water so they come to your RV site to wash their dishes at your water faucet. No picnic table at our site # 37 because the site is too tight to accommodate one. Can't park your car or tow vehicle at site. It needs to be put in parking area nearby. The campground feels like it is full of homeless people living in old trailers and RVs. Stay here is cheap, but all you get is water & electric, highway noise, and a feeling that you are on tobacco road. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for a rodeo event and the price reflects a special event rate of $50 for a three day stay. Park was very clean, including restrooms and showers. Staff was friendly. There's a nice playground for kids and a huge grassy area for pets. Sites are a bit on the small side and closely packed together, but nice and level. Only a few longer term residents apparent. There are some trees, but they are confined to the edge of the park where the tent camping is. Easy access to Route 6 and only a few blocks off I-70. The Wi-Fi was the worst thing, even though the speed was good, with a long log in process that requires a cellphone email and lots of getting dropped and having to re-log in. This was a minor annoyance and all in all, I would stay here again. Highly recommend it if you're going to events at the fairgrounds! We camped here in a Truck Camper.

In interest of fairness, park rate for pull through site was only $20 per night, but no sewer. Wi-Fi completely inaccessible from the west pull through row and had a cumbersome login. Pull through sites are packed in. No cable tV. The positives: easy access to the Denver area, clean restrooms/showers, helpful host, huge grassy play area, nice walk path, covered pavilion. Stayed 5 nights. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
