I'd give this a 10, but since it doesn't have cable or pull-throughs, I figured some would take issue with it. The new owners have only been here a month, but have have done a great amount of work. Everything has a fresh coat of paint; all sites are well groomed with fresh gravel everywhere, with grass between sites. Sites are level, and hookups are excellent. Very helpful owners. Nicely treed with plenty of clearance for rigs with some sites open without trees. 50 and 30 amp available with clean power. 50 amp sites all back up to babbling brook. We loved our stay and will definitely return. Great mountain views from sites. A great experience. This is a quaint, quiet campground, not a resort. Close to lots of things for day trips. Don't miss the Great Sand Dunes Nat'l Park an hour away. I'd praise it even more, but I want my site available when I return......just kidding, we love it. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We went to La Veta for a century bike ride and stayed at Circle the Wagons. The park was spotless and the showers and bathrooms were clean and comfortable. But the best part was the owners. This couple went out of their way to make an accommodation for us that not many RV park owners would tackle. We loved this place, the town and the scenery. Would definitely return. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The rate reflects a weekly stay. The campground is located about three blocks off the main highway. It’s not an impressive three blocks, but once you get in the campground you will find good gravel roads and generous, gravel sites with room to maneuver. We were backed up to the river in a level, 50amp full hookup site. There are nice shade trees but we were able to find our satellite by putting the dish to the front of the site. There are good washers and dryers in the laundry room and they are free. Cell service and service for our internet card was good. The only negative was that the security light in our section of the park wasn’t working so it was very dark in our corner. Actually that was a plus when the stars were out at night. We wouldn’t hesitate to come again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a quiet, clean, friendly campground with some sites with larger trees for shade. The owner is very nice. Videos are loaned for free and the laundry is free, also. We only stayed one night, but we would come back if we were in the area. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Nice park, easy to get to from Hwy 12. Entry road and park have gravel roadways but was well maintained. Very friendly owner on site. The park itself was quite clean and well maintained. Glass, paper, and aluminum recycling on premises. Note that not all sites have 50amp service, so if you must have 50 amps, be sure to specify this when you call for reservations. We stayed in site 40 with a 40' motorhome and toad. We would visit here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Peace and quiet! Most sites have large trees. Bring your hummingbird feeder! Nice room between sites. Grass - good for this part of the world. Good power level and good water pressure. Wi-Fi always worked. Very nice area. We'll certainly come back! We used satellite dish and had no problem getting signal through the trees. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
I know others have rating this park way high. I do like this park, but cannot go along with the really high ratings. The people running the park and the very friendly people staying here are the reason I am rating it as high as I do. On the positive side it is 1. Fairly quiet. 2. Friendly people. But 1. No pull throughs. 2. I had 30 amp power and I requested 50 amp well in advance 3. Funky part of town. 4. Wi-Fi did not work at our site at all. This is not a bad place, but there is no way to rate it really high based on our stay. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Wonderful park, owners, helpers and campers! We enjoyed the views and quiet surroundings. Nice clubhouse, libraries and laundry. Glad we stayed here a week. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very friendly and helpful owners. Long and wide sites with mature trees and grass. Sites are almost level and gravel. Stream running through the campground was a real treat. Nice peaceful setting. Would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a very nice park with a stream running through it. The sites are very wide and long with grass between each site. The only downside is there is no cable TV because the local provider went out of business and there is only one channel available via antenna. The park is wired for cable but there is nothing they an connect up with. Also there is no pavement at all. It is a gravel road leading to the park and all gravel in the park. Other than those two negatives, the park really quite nice with a lot of friendly people and some nice large shade trees. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very nice park with wide and long sites, that do require some leveling, but not bad. Adequate shade on most sites, but not so much that you can't get satellite reception. Very friendly staff, we got some vouchers for free tickets on the nearby excursion train. The park is quiet and laid back, and the small stream is an added attraction. The village of LaVeta is pleasant with some shops and the drive on the Legends Highway up to the Sangre De Cristo range is beautiful. If you are looking for a quiet time this is the place to go. Only drawback, and not much of one, would be the WiFi which can be spotty in the back of the park. Would recommend. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We've stayed at both the east and west campgrounds on overnights both are OK but the westside is really worth making an extended stay in La Veta. The staff were pleasant and accommodating. The sites were clean and well kept. The westside restrooms and showers were among the cleanest/nicest we seen in years of RVing. La Veta is a small, low key, off the beaten track town west of Walsenburg were we've stayed to visit the Spanish Peaks and roll over La Veta Pass to the Great Sand Dunes. We'll stay again for a weekend. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is our second trip to this park. We have stayed at the other two parks in La Veta and find this one the best for our needs. Elk Valley is the newest and nicest cared for. However, it is for sale and you can never tell if the new owners will be as nice or keep it as nice. The golf course is right across the road and great for walking your dog off the leash. There were 13 bucks in the RV park right behind our trailer the first night and 8 does the next morning. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Stayed one night on our way to Gunnison. Quiet park, good place to walk at the golf course across the street. Nice grassy area for each site. Wi-Fi strength was good. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The owner was very friendly and helpful. His RV park is very well groomed and the grass areas are beautiful. We made arrangements to stay again because we like the park so much. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We stayed here a couple of years ago and came back for an overnight stay on our way to Lake City. Unfortunately this time, our stay is less pleasant than last time due to uncontolled barking dogs in the back corner by their clubhouse. Wi-Fi has been unreliable and Verizon cell phone is also not too good here. I hate to downgrade an RV park based on the above because it is an otherwise nice park. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a very small park and is next to a VERY busy highway. A lot of truck traffic all day. If you were lucky enough to get the first pull-through site, you had a wonderful view of the Spanish Peaks. The other three pull-throughs looked at a construction company warehouse. And, as stated before, the pull-through sites were too short. The owners were very friendly. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We truly enjoyed this park for the four days we stayed. The park has 4 pull-through sites; however, they are short. You cannot fit both your RV and vehicle on the site. We had to park our truck in the visitors parking lot. The site is gravel, tree on each site and has beautiful grass between sites. Sprinklers come on nightly. Roads are also gravel. The staff is very friendly and they go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. Their Wi-Fi was faster than our Verizon wireless. Our Verizon cell phone did not work in the trailer but did outside. The negative is they don’t have cable TV. Our satellite worked well. We definitely recommend this campground for short stays. We visited the Great Dunes National Park & Preserves and Lathrop State Park while here. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Rate is for Escapees RV Club. Very nice park with excellent facilities. Views of the Spanish Peaks are wonderful. NO cable and very poor Verizon cell service. Across the road from very nice golf course. The park was for sale when we visited. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Rather than repeat all the accurate information reported by others, I'd like to add that this is a good place to board the La Veta tourist train that definitely is a 10 in our book. If you're looking for a neat, clean RV park with long, green grass (no weeds) to run around in your bare feet, this is it. We will return again next year for the train. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Very nice small RV Park in a great location. If you are passing through the area or are looking for a unique location for a few days, this is the place. Family owned and operated, the Millers could not be more helpful from reservations to helping with the local sights. The RV sites are gravel, level and have a great view of the mountains. Lots of things to do in the area from road trips to antique shopping. Only downside, no cable TV and no over the air reception. WiFi worked great. Verizon signal worked at site (1 bar but it worked). Looked at the other RV parks while in the area and was glad that we stayed at Elks Valley. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Small family run park with very friendly owners. Flat solid sites. Sites are a little short for parking toad. View of the mountains across the road is spectacular. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a clean, new, convenient campground with level, gravel sites and amazing flat valley location for views of the Spanish Peaks. Walk to town, small grocery less than a mile away. Playground, communal fire pit & barbecue, nice rec room with laundry. No TV channels to speak of! Friendly town, friendly owners. Summer weekends you can take the train in the morning to the Great Sands National Park--all day trip (930-430 or so). Wi-Fi didn't work but the owner was working on it, Verizon had no cell signal on site but in town it did. Alltel cell signal was strong. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a clean and well managed park. The sites are quite large. The road nearby is not busy so it helps in keeping the low key atmosphere. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Excellent, clean park. Wonderful views in two directions of the mountains. Across street from golf course. River is on edge of park. Swings, slides for the little ones. Stayed a 3rd day. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I wanted to stop in La Veta but the other parks were full due to a large group bike ride. I got a reservation here and was glad the other places were full so that I ended up here. It's small, but very nice and quiet. It's across the road from a golf course and has stupendous views of East and West Spanish peak. There's not a lot of recreation in the park, but you're only 4 or 5 blocks from town. Free Wifi. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Lovely and clean campground. Plenty of elbow room for every camper here. It was a while back that we had stayed here, but i remember having a really good time. Especially since i love golfing and fishing. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Charming little park made better by the owners and staff. They treat you like family the entire time you're there. The sites are tight if the park is full but while we were there, that only happened on the weekend. Nice mountain breezes so we didn't need to run our A/C. There is no 50 amp service at this park, so the breezes were appreciated. No OTA TV signal. Very poor Verizon signal but very good free Wi-Fi! The town is quaint and charming also. Many galleries and little shops. Much to see and do in the area. Highly recommend this park! We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a great park with a friendly and helpful staff. The sites are gravel, many with grass and lots of shade trees. This is a great place to spend the summer! This price reflects the monthly rate. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This family owned park is unique. Extremely friendly and helpful. They socialize with the guests like family. The park is basic, but with full hookups and shade. Wi-Fi was very good. On first appearance the sites appeared to be small, but they are adequate for a 40 ft. motorhome. We will come here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This park is a real find. It is a "small city" park atmosphere with lots of grass and shade trees. Ideal location for fishing and touring and enjoying the local activities. Owners are most friendly and helpful and make everyone so welcome. Planned to stay two days, stayed for seven. We would definitely return. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
