This is our third year visiting here. This is a great park for water activities! Campground is beginning to show it's age and needs to have some money invested in it. There is a wide variety of sites, so pick carefully! Most sites are spacious, but some are better than others. All sites have 20,30,50 amp service, picnic table and fire ring. Water spigots are scattered throughout the area. Minimal shade, and it can get very hot in the summer! Mosquitos are a serious problem here, so bring spray and tiki torches! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

It was the 4th of July weekend and the park was completely full! Although it was busy, the sites we had (#84, #85) were quiet and peaceful. There is a wide variety of sites to choose from, so make your selection carefully. Some sites are widely spaced but others are very close to your neighbor. There are numerous trees in the southern campgrounds, but not as many north of the marina. The State Park website allows you to look at pictures of your campsite before you reserve, a neat feature! The weather was hot, but manageable as most people were involved in water sport activities. The lake can get busy during the day, so best to start early. Storms can come up quickly in this part of the plains, so keep an eye on the sky and an ear to the weather radio. Heavy rain does make this place a bit sloppy, but the soil is sandy and dries out pretty fast. No Wi-Fi is available and we could not get any TV stations at our site. Cell phone service is spotty, but we had fair service with AT&T. Hookups were electric only. Bathroom are hit and miss. The bathhouses only have one shower stall except for the Sandpiper campground north of the marina. These were newer and had 4 stalls and in much better condition. Water pressure was good and hot. Bring bug spray, lots of it! Mosquito's are ravenous! The Park Rangers patrol the area well and keep things under control. The marina has a fairly well stocked store. All in all, a fun place! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We camped here with a group from work and had a great time! Large variety of sites from no shade to full shade. The photos on the parks website are a bit misleading. There is actually MORE shaded sites that what the pictures show! Roads are gravel with natural vegetation. Our site, #001, was unlevel, but easily fixed with my leggo blocks. All sites had a table and fire ring. I would suggest the waterfront sites, but these go the fastest! Bathrooms were fair, but good shower pressure and warm water. The lake had a large amount of green algae, but was warm and calm. Lots of water sports on the lake and it can get busy! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
