I camped here the July 4th weekend. I can honestly say that it was the best time I have ever had at a campground. The thing that I loved the most is all the events. They had a live DJ playing Friday night along with a big fire. It was very fun. A lot of people showed and we all danced and watched the fire. The DJ was amazing, he took any request. He played songs from the 80's to today's hip hop. They also had face painting, a petting zoo (goats, horse, bunny, cow), wiffle ball, a hayride, and to end the weekend they had a pancake breakfast. The staff was very nice and was always available. I can't wait to go again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

It is a dated campground. Went there with a group for the holiday weekend. This was recommend by one our friends who we camp with, they like the lake. Many trees need trimming, one party in our group had to trim branches before they could get into their site. Payed extra for cable, it was not good. My 30 amp service kept going off when using the AC. The owner said he has been changing out the breakers as they go, how about fixing them before they don't work properly. Many improvements needed. One of the worst places I've stayed at. The only up side was I was with several of my camping families. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is an older campground. The roads are not paved, but were well graveled. Mostly seasonal campers, and all were very friendly. Lake Williams is beautiful, and you have a boat ramp right in the camp. Many campers were fishing or tubing. Very easy access for a canoe or kayak. Showers cost 25 cents, very clean but dated restrooms. Staff were very nice. I went to the casino on Saturday, bad day to go, very crowded. Lost, but it's only 30 minutes away. I'll be back again, I enjoyed my stay here. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We were not happy with this campground. When I called to inquire about a weekly rate I was told that a week is 6 nights. I told the person that other campgrounds consider a week to be 7 nights. After a couple minutes of discussion she agreed that the rate would be for 7 nights so I gave her my credit card number for a deposit. When I arrived, the campground owner’s wife stated that the weekly rate is for 6 nights and if I don’t like it I don’t have to stay. Because of our long drive I decided to stay. As far as the campground facilities, they are acceptable. Our site was at the top of a steep grassy hill. In dry weather it was no problem. If it rains for a few days I could see getting stuck in the mud. Because our trailer is 40 feet long, and about 13 ½ feet high, we could not back up all the way in the site for fear of tree branches damaging our roof. Because we could not back up to the rear of the site, we needed to use a 25 foot sewer hose, and a 50 foot water hose. Because we were on a hill, the sewer hose sloped upwards toward the sewer connection which is at the rear of the lot, and it did not drain properly. On a positive note, the campground was quiet, and you could access Lake Williams from the campground. I will not be returning to this campground. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Enjoyed camping at this campground. Weather was nice: had some rainy days. Hosts were polite. A little off the beaten path but well worth it. The view of Lake Williams was great. Enjoy camping in the Northeast because the weather is great during the summer. Now on to other parts of New England, then back to NY. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We camped here in a motor home using Passport America membership. We were on the hill with full hookups. Drove through the grass to get to the site. Large site with table, fire pit, satellite Internet and TV. Phone OK. Lots of permanent sites. There are shade sites available. Road into park has lots of potholes which could swallow a Bug. Personnel very nice and helpful. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We called to see if they were open and ready for us, since it was opening weekend and there had been a lot of rain. They said they were, so off we went. We arrived and they had no idea where to put us. They settled on "the hill." We walked the site and said it seemed soft from rain. The man said it would be fine. We sunk to our axles. I went to the office to tell them the site was too soft and we were stuck. They told me, "You better call someone. I hope you have AAA." I tried to call and was informed, "Oh, we don't get a Sprint signal here. I guess you can use our phone, if it's local." Things only got worse from there. Would never go back! We camped here in a Motorhome.
The road driving into the park wasn't very good, but the sites were quite wide and had lots of grass around. We weren't beside the lake, but it looked like there were more tent sites at the lake front, with lots of trees. We used Passport America. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed here on memorial day weekend. We were a bit disappointed with the lack of activities for a holiday weekend. My children had a great time with bike decorating and the bike parade but, that was about it. There was a craft activity (bring your own craft), line dancing (about 4 people), and a saturday evening dance (I think the same 4 people there) - That was it! The pool was a bit cloudy and very cold. The temp is understandable but, cleanliness is inexcusable. We stayed in the 70's section. Water and electric services are not located in normal positions. We had to go to Walmart and purchase a 30 amp extension cord to reach. The circuit blew a number of times if running AC and microwave. The beach and lake were OK to look at but, I would not let my kids swim in it, nor did they want to as it was very mucky. Another complaint is that there is only one bathroom at the pool/pavilion area. It also contains a shower. Plan on a long wait if you gotta go. If you do go here, consider the safari field. It looked MUCH better but, community fire pits only. I don't see us returning here. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This was an awesome campground. It has very friendly staff and campers. Great sites: get a waterfront one, they are so beautiful. It's very clean everywhere. Has super clean showers and restrooms. Staff was very nice and super accommodating. Would definitely recommend and would love to stay here again! We camped here in a Truck Camper.
We went with 2 other families and had a great time at this campground. The weather forecast was for rain all weekend but we lucked out. The staff was friendly and helpful. We got 2 large sites next to each other and 1 small one across the street. Right next to us was a playground for the all the kids: ages 1-10. A friend stayed here last year and really wanted to go back so we did a group trip. He could not stop raving about how well stocked the camp store was. We will definitely be returning next year. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
When we reserved our site, we were told that we got one of their best. It was a very small corner site across from the pond. It was under water. We called the office because apparently no one had noticed the condition of the site at the intersection of the two main roads. They sent a small pay loader out and dumped a few buckets of dirt on the site and spread it around. Now the site was mud and the step down from the rig was about two feet. Other than that the place was OK. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We just returned from long weekend. We paid $48 a night and we had an unhappy experience, our first since we have started camping 17 years ago. The first day the water was brown and then the second day we had no water for a few hours in the morning, as well as no electricity, then the next day we lost electricity twice for a few hours. That is when we decided to call the office and see what was going on. In all our years of camping we have never had this happen. The office staff was rude and said, "It's not our fault you have no power." (Only a few sites had no power, it was not the whole campground.) We asked if we could have some kind of compensation or money back due to the fact the problem kept happening, due to no fault of ours and the office staff hung up on us. We called back and they said that this was no hotel, but we should go to one if we are not happy. They really did not care if we had a good experience at their place. On another note: The campground gave us sites with a little less than 2 feet between our awning and the next site. However the seasonal sites had huge areas with gazebos. And we had to share campfire ring with about 10 sites. Maybe they don't want weekenders at this campground. Perhaps they should change to a private seasonal only campground? We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

I submit this review without even being able to go here. We called to make a reservation and got an answering machine. We left a message as instructed and told them we wanted to make a reservation. That was a week ago and we still have not received a response. I now will not spend a dime at a place with such poor customer service that won't even take the time to assist in making a reservation. With good camping destinations scarce in this state, owners should make every attempt to draw and make happy the customers that want to camp here. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Great family campground with both lake and pool swimming. Rec hall has organized activities in addition to billiards, video and board games. Many seasonal sites, all were well maintained. The location is convenient to the Hartford and eastern CT areas. We were on a well shaded site though there is a safari area that is not shaded. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
