I gave it a 7 due to the lack of "perks" but, really, the location is THE PERK. I love this place! Have reservations soon and cannot wait. Hoping there will be no red tide but other than that, I expect to have a wonderful time there. It isn't fancy, it's "old Florida" at it's best and staying there takes me back in time. The front spaces that a previous poster stated had been closed off has been converted to picnicking areas for campers with nice tables, grills, etc. This area is fairly well shaded. If you are looking for a "resort" try Sun n Fun, Royal Coachman, or maybe Horseshoe Cove. If you really wanna go to the beach to camp, this is your spot :) We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We spent 2 weeks in Feb 09 and plan on 2 trips in 2010. It was clean, quiet and they are very friendly. The pub across the street is great. The beach is not as white as Siest Key Beach but it was never crowded and very clean. A small place with no frills, but you're on the gulf. We camped here in a Motorhome.

When we first arrived, my wife and I did not like the place at all. This is probably one of the least appealing places we've ever stayed. The sites were very small, and it is basically setup like an alley with dirt camp-sites on either side and one small paved road through the middle. The campsites on the right backup to a 6 foot wood privacy fence with a couple 2 story condos/houses right next to it. One of the houses overlooked the campground. The left side backed up to a chain-link fence with a parking lot for beach access to Turtle beach and a boat ramp. Not very private. There was only one bath-house/laundry and it was showing it's age and had a slight odor of bleach. The toilets were clean and it was air-conditioned, but the place just look dilapidated, with rusty hinges on doors, broken shower latches, pitted shower heads, elongated toilet seats on round toilets, etc... We stayed for a week, and after a few days at the beach the convenience started to grow on us and we began to overlook the shortcomings of the campground. The people in the campground were very friendly, although a couple were inconsiderate blasting their TV's outside and talking very loudly to relatives on speaker-phone. The beach was nice, although some may not like the sand which is brown and black with a rough consistency and tends to stick to everything. There is a white-sand beach further down Siesta Key called Siesta beach if you don't mind driving, but if I were going to do that I would've stayed somewhere else. The park next door had a boat ramp on the inter-coastal water-way. I tried to fish the canal, but had no-luck. There's also bait shop and boat/kayak rentals at the marina across the street. I give it a 7 overall but only because of the beach, the campground would have only gotten maybe a 3 or 4. Also, for some reason they closed off the first 6 sites closest to the beach (the best ones), maybe for environmental reasons now that the county owns it. We paid a weekly rate of $205, plus $14/week for cable and $14/week to run your AC. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This campground is now called Turtle Beach Campground. Its small with about 40 or so sites, all back in so not great for big rigs. The closer to the beach the more the site costs. Some are shaded, others in sun. The beach is right there, lovely to have such easy access any time of day or night. Its a relatively quiet beach for Sarasota, and not the white Siesta Key sand but darker and more gritty, still quite lovely. Showers were just so-so but the beach is the thing here. There are two restaurants right across the street. No pets allowed. I'd stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Recently purchased by the county from private owners, the staff told me they were about to start a major renovation next year. It is densely packed, reasonably clean, and uninteresting as a campground. Noise was not a problem for us but as crowded together as the sites are, it could happen very easily. Staff was friendly and helpful. The real reason to go here is to be a short 100 yard walk to a very nice Gulf beach and a beautiful sunset. The surrounding area is fun and easy to travel about in. Go here for the beach, don't expect much else. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Hard to back in to your site if they are filled to capacity. Very friendly staff and the other campers are helpful if you need help backing in! Beach is RIGHT THERE- you can't get much closer and still have shade trees. We loved this place. It used to be private but the county has taken it over. It's located in a residential area, which makes you think you took a wrong turn getting there. This place is a gem. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This campground was much better than expected. Had an excellent site very close to beach, nice and shady all day. Friendly, helpful staff. Very clean facilities. Grounds maintenance daily. Other campers were friendly. Our children had a wonderful time playing in the ocean. Would highly recommend to all other campers. Will definitely return! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Poor customer relations and they lost our reservation! Talked to campground owner who could care less - said he was fully booked all year and did not need us. Squeezed between a public beach park and high condos, sites are small and lack some privacy. We camped here in a Motorhome.

At first glance the park sites look small and you will wonder how you will ever fit. The staff will go with you to your site and help you back in. The overall cleanliness and awesome beach views will make the small sites seem trivial. The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to be helpfull and the friendliness of the fellow campers made this a campground worth coming back to. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Friendly park located on Siesta Key, south of Sarasota. Only one space front the Gulf but
all spaces have access to beach. Some months booked up a year in advance so call before showing up. The sunsets were beautiful, and the fellow campers were
the friendliest we have ever met. I think they do not allow rigs over 36'. We are booking for next fall. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Not alot of extras but a very nice place. Sites are small, but the campground makes up for it by being right on the beach. No site is more than 200 yards from the Gulf of Mexico beach. Nice place to explore Sarasota from. We camped here in a camper.

We really enjoyed our stay at Myakka River State Park. The campground area we stayed in did not have sewer, only the newer loop has that. But, our loop was very nice, shady and the bathrooms were quite clean. The campground host was friendly and sold firewood from their site, so that was convenient. The only downside was that there isn't much privacy between sites, but it really didn't bother us much. The park has much to do and one benefit of camping is you can watch the sunrise and sunset from the canopy walk. We camped here with our two grand daughters and they really enjoyed the park and the campgrounds. We would recommend this park to anyone looking to see real Florida. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here during spring break with our two grand daughters. Overall, we were very pleased with the campground and the park. On the plus side, the restrooms were very clean, there was a lot to keep us and the kids busy. The park itself is really great! As mentioned before, there isn't much privacy (we stayed in one of the older loops) and it is quite dusty around the campsite. It appears that they are trying to get more plant growth for more privacy, but they still have a ways to go. The dump station was convenient and easy to access. As mentioned before, there is little to no cell phone coverage in the campground, and most of the park for that matter. There is Wi-Fi at the concession building and accessible inside and outside of the building. The park has much to do. There are many hiking and biking trails, a boat ride, tram tour, and canoe rentals. The winter is the dry season and the only place to canoe was in the upper lake. I hear it is easier in a kayak. We really enjoyed our stay. We rate this park at a 7+but would be higher if there was more privacy and sewer hookups in all loops. We will return. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Large full-hook up sites available. Fire ring & picnic table at each site. Cell service is poor; however, with a booster it was usable. New bath houses, tons of paved & unpaved trails for biking or hiking. A little far out of Sarasota, but really the best choice to camp in the area. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Wow, this is the best state park I have stayed at. Wonderful sites , large and lots of space in between. There are lots of things to do in the park, beautiful trees with moss and the wild life it wonderful. Do the treetop walk. It is a great park. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Myakka River is a really nice state park with a really nice campground. There are three separate campground areas in the park. "Palmetto Ridge" is the new section that is geared toward large RVs. Palmetto Ridge has full water, electric, and sewer at all sites. Some sites are pull-through. The sites at Palmetto Ridge are gravel. "Old Prairie" and "Big Flats" are the older sections. These are smaller areas and don't have sewer hook ups. Old Prairie is near the entrance (across from Palmetto Ridge). Big Flats is near the lake. The problem with the older sections is that there is not much buffer between camp sites. Mostly just a wood fence section separating the sites. We camped here in a Tent.

We loved all the wild life we saw on walks, drives, and bike rides. Though the wild hogs have been the bane of the camp rangers, they are still fun to watch. We stayed in the new section, which was perfect. Huge, wide, long sites with full hookups. Very level with crushed limestone and bordered off well. Lots of room between you and your neighbors. Suggest the back loop of the park, as you will see less traffic and get more shade. At the time we were there, the park hosts were in change over, and it showed. I am sure once they come in again, it will relieve the burden on the park rangers to keep the common areas and bathhouses up more, though the bathhouse was clean for the most part. Our site 78, though deemed as "ready" was not tended to before we arrived. There was gravel all over the picnic table, sewer hookup pad, and grill. Apparently last camper had wild children allowed to be as destructive as they liked. Fire pit was full of ashes also. I think this will change once the camp hosts return. Very minimal AT&T signal, so could not use my wireless internet, and could not connect at the camp cafe. But we did pull in 38 channels on our roof top antenna. We look forward to our next visit. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We loved this park! If you are a nature lover, you will too. We stayed in the new portion and had a huge, private, full hookup site with picnic table, grill and fire pit. I don't usually use the showers but I did here without hesitation, they were so clean. I also did one load of laundry. We had turkeys and deer right at our site. We biked many miles and saw wild boar, lots of deer, alligators, snakes and numerous birds. We heard owls at night tho' we never saw one. We did the air boat tour. Staff was friendly and stopped at our site just to warn us of poisonous snakes. We stayed three nights, never missed Wi-Fi or cable! We camped here in a Motorhome.

Our second stay in the Palmetto Ridge loop. It is the new one in the park. Very spacious level sites with a fair amount of pull through sites and sewer at some sites. Very quiet at night with good privacy. If there were Wi-Fi at the site this would be a clear 10 rating. So you have to drive to the concession building about 4 miles away. One of the best campgrounds and state park we know of. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Great place to bike and see nature. We mainly stayed here to be close to the beach, only to find out there was so much to do here. Canopy walk, tram or air boat tour. Were able to walk to the bridge to see many alligators. Next time will spend a few more days here! We camped here in a Motorhome.

We got one night at the new campground section; extremely nice with paved roads, clean crushed rock large sites, with a very new-clean-shinny bathhouse; lacking only more clothes hooks. A real 10+. The next night we had to go to an older section due to reserve availability that was dirt roads and sandy sites with an older tired bathhouse. The real plus is the paved nature road with nature trails, a bird watch board walk, a tree top walk between two ~ 75 foot towers, and a concession shop and restaurant at the end of the road with lake boat tours and rental bikes and canoes. Park is great for biking. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Sites at Palmetto Ridge are huge. Most are well screened with native vegetation. The sewer connection is about 9" off the ground and towards the rear of the site so you'll have to bring lots of hose and support. The park itself is fabulous and 17 miles to Siesta Key with its beautiful beach. Only real negative is very weak cell phone coverage: at our site 79, no 3G Verizon on iPhone and only 1 bar from AT&T on the iPad, though that's not the park's fault so no rating deduction. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We camped on PALMETTO RIDGE. The site was spacious, level with full hookup, BBQ and firepit. This campground is pretty new, so showers and restrooms are new and cleaned every day. The sewer connection is a bit above ground. This is the best campground in all the state parks we visited. The park itself is great with lots to do, and the beaches are a short drive. Wi-Fi at the comfort houses would be great improvement. We will come in spring again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed in site#10 in Big flats which is an older campground. We've been here before and chose this area even though the newer area had opened with FHU. We like being closer to the action and Big flats is closer to marina, bird walk, tram rides, air boat ride and stores. It was a short 15 minute bike ride to the canopy walk. TV reception was non existent but we knew that last year. Cell phone for Verizon and ATT was fair. Our Mi-Fi would not work here though. They have widened the spaces and taken away the middle sites in both older campgrounds to give more room. Campground was very quiet at night and we enjoyed our campfire and solitude even though it was New Year's weekend. There was no partying going on in Big Flats from what we could tell. Park has many trails and bike routes as well as a small museum. There was also a naturalist out on Saturday with animal skulls and pelts and footprints to educate people in the park. Even though it was a holiday, the park wasn't too crowded. But because of the warm weather, we did not see as many animals as last time. The birds were plentiful but the gators were able to stay in the water since it was mild, so not many opportunities to see them. They have removed the playground that was at the picnic area to enlarge the parking lot for the boat parking. While in the area we went to Rosa Fiorelli winery, Hunsader Farms, Crowley Nature Center (has farmer's market on Saturday mornings), Yoder's Amish restaurant and Alpine Steakhouse. For most of these, use the back gate it will save a lot of time driving. We might take a site in the newer section if we come back. We drove through it and it looked nice but sites are all gravel which in our experience in FL means ants. Roads are paved though in the newer area. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Florida senior rate shown. Outstanding park. Sites 49 to 90 all look new with curbs outlining nice level site area, fire rings and picnic tables. The showers/restrooms looked brand new and were cleaned daily. Site layout, spacing and vegetation between sites assured all of privacy. We saw no bad sites in 49 to 90. There is not a lot of overhead shade. The best spots are on the perimeter of 49 to 90. There is less privacy, but more shade in the old prairie and the big flats campgrounds. These are older areas with older facilities. The Myakka Outpost has a gift shop, cafe, firewood, and some basic items. The elevated building looks new. There are canoe and kayak rentals, air boat rides and nature hikes. There are many trails for hikers and bikers. Don't miss the canopy walkway and the 70' viewing tower. While we were there, there was a 12 to 14 foot gator sunning or swimming every day below a bridge between the camping area and the Outpost. Cell service is very limited, people were standing on top of vehicles and driving to a specific area to get anything intermittently. TV reception, even with a fixed antenna was good. There are no nearby stores or restaurants. This is a great park, one of the best of the 20+ Florida parks at which we've camped. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This review is for the Palmetto Ridge campground, which is one of three campgrounds within the State Park. The campground is well designed, well maintained with appealing spacious sites. Each site is level with a pad of solid packed limestone gravel. The access lanes of the loops are paved and wide enough to handle big rigs. At least three of the pull throughs have a length exceeding 100-feet. There is plenty of the native Florida vegetation to provide a feeling of privacy. Satellite reception is good for the pull through sites because they have fewer trees. Verizon service here is very weak and there is no Wi-Fi at the campgrounds. This campground has sewer connections and they are not well placed. The connection is above ground and there are no threads. This engineering wonder makes dumping the tanks an enduring struggle. We do not recommend any RV over 30-feet to stay at one of the other two campgrounds. Both are prehistoric and ought to be demolished. We would like to return to Palmetto Ridge Campground. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This park now has three circles for camping. Old Prairie, Big Flats, which probably have 30 amp, water, and probably no sewer. The new section which we have been awaiting is PALMETTO RIDGE CAMPGROUND which has water, 50 amp electric, and sewer at the site. Laundry at nice new shower houses is $1.50 for wash and $1.50 for dry. Showers are new, clean, well lighted and large. There is so much to do at this park, hiking, biking, boat tour of Myakka Lake, fishing. Also very close to Sarasota, 9 miles, for shopping, and a little further to one of Florida's finest beaches. We live about 80 miles away, so this will be a good weekend destination. Myakka River State Park will be a 10 when growth separates sites more completely and trees give more shade. We will be back. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Campground was easy to access off the interstate. Well nestled back in the woods, far enough off the road to have no road noise. We were on site 19 which was a good site for our 27' TT w/slideout. We had electric problems with the power box on 19 but site 18 was close enough to plug into its power. Reported the power issue to ranger stations and they said someone would come and fix it (never did.) They just did not rent out 18 while we were here. Checked with other campers of their 30 amp plugs, and they said they had no issue. Could not even run the AC for more than 10 minutes on 19 power. Plenty of sites were empty for walk up campers even though website shows they were booked. We had nice campers all around us, kid friendly, pet friendly. Fishing was good only at the bridge on your way to the furthest campground, talapia only. If you have a boat bigger than a john boat, do not bother to bring it as the water is too low. Bathrooms were kind of old but feasible and clean. There is a dump behind the men's room at the furthest campground: only accessible with a portable dump. For early morning bike rides or walks you will need your camera as plenty of animals to see. We saw deer, fawns, turkey, wild pigs, raccoons, owls, snakes, rabbits, plenty of gators along the water areas. Full hook site is $25 at the one camp area, they said there are 4 at each section of camping, but I only found one in ours. Outpost stores are nice and have general supply of camping stuff plus plenty of gifts. Has bike rental, canoe's, two air boats for $12 per person. Would most likely go and stay again but choose a different site unless they have the power fixed at 19. We stayed for 3 nights. Good bike riding from your campsite to the rangers station and back is 6 miles roundtrip. Anything longer than 30 foot, they tell you will not fit, but with certain sites you have plenty of room. New sites (nearing completion as of 12/27/10) will be fantastic! Much larger and more private than old sites. All have full hookups, unlike old sites. Bathhouses looked amazing from the outside. Cellular service is sketchy at campsite, but solid at "Concession" building. Concession has food, gifts, boat, bike rentals, and FREE WiFi. Wi-Fi also available after hours in parking lot near building. Lots to do at park. We saw many deer and armadillo. On warm winter day we saw DOZENS of alligators basking on the shore (your mileage may vary). Canopy walkway was impressive (1 of only 9 in USA, 30 in whole world). Beaches at Siesta Key (25 minutes west) are whitest I have ever seen. Public access paths and parking lots just north (and probably south) of the main beach offer much less crowded experience. We stayed in Big Flats #52 which was acceptably level. Sites are close together and trees have to be maneuvered around. We originally were at #9 which was also level but when we returned to hook up the campers next door had an obnoxious smoky fire going that gave us a headache within 2 minutes so we had to either switch sites or leave (it was that bad). Luckily the ranger office was open late (Friday in season until 9 pm). We were sooo happy. This is a great park. Take the 1 hr. air boat tour, largest air boat in the world. Great info from guide. Every visit we like Myakka State Park more. Wi-Fi is standard crappy camper quality up at the Myakka Outpost boat basin, good for email and little else. Great gift shop upstairs. We noticed police set up near campsite entrance checking that people had their registration tags showing in window and pulling people over if they didn't. Nice that they have that security. I know it's practically un-American to say but I would LOVE a no-campfire section in FL campgrounds. I have breathing problems and campfires make me sick. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We were on site #22 in Big Flats. Our site was very tight and unlevel. Others were better and wider. We did have vegetation on one side but most sites did not offer any privacy. Campground is working on adding FHU sites near the Old Prairie area. They will be removing all interior sites in both campgrounds to give some more room to the sites. Laundry is in Old Prairie area. TV reception was good. ATT was not. Verizon was better. Wi-Fi is available at concessionaire. All sites have fire/ring grill, picnic table, and w/e, most sites were shady. Bathhouse was clean when we got here and we saw host cleaning each day. Park offers many activities. Some we tried were: airboat ride, tram tour, ranger tour, campfire program as well as a visitor center. We also hiked and climbed the canopy walkway and tower. Park rents canoes, kayaks, bikes, and has 2 shops with a quick service counter including ice cream available. Saw a lot of wildlife with many types of birds. Park has a Jr Ranger program for kids. 3 Playgrounds available but they are showing their age. So much to do that we never left park. Will definitely return. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We loved this park. Sites a bit on the small side, and no private changing area in the bath house, otherwise would be a 10. Overall, the park was a lot of fun, with so much to do we never left the 3 days we were there, except to go to the grocery store, only a few minutes away. I'm glad to hear our guess was right, that they are making another camping loop, with FH! Myakka was a beautiful area, and lots of wildlife, birds to see. We had a great time hiking and exploring with our dogs. Camp hosts were friendly, and always cleaning around the bath house. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

This is a standard Florida State park, restrooms were clean and rangers helpful. There is no privacy between sites in the campground that we were in, the one most distant from the park entrance. The sites are close together and are essentially in one tree lined field so maneuvering is easy. There was still plenty of shade. There is a large lake that is infested with large and fearless alligators. Indeed this park has more gators than any I've seen outside the Everglades NP. You can canoe on the lake but you would not want to overturn the canoe. Fishing is excellent in the lake. There are lots of critters to see in the woods, you will see wild pigs in numbers. There are plenty of birds but mid summer is the worst time to see them. There is no swimming in the park and the beaches mostly are available in the Venice/Englewood area. Less than an hour away. Sarasota beaches are theoretically available, but most have no public parking. The nearest shopping is in Sarasota, probably 15-20minutes away. There is a store in the park and they rent canoes and kayaks. They also run a air boat tour. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Myakka River is one of the best State Parks for wildlife. The water level was low this year, but we were still able to canoe in part of the river. We saw many gators in the river and in the lake. We also saw wild bores, deer, eagles, sandhill cranes and many more birds. The road thru the park is paved and good for bike rides. The sites are small and offer no privacy, the road thru the campground is not paved and is very dusty. The wildlife make up for the camping part. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for 1 nights and had a great time. They an airboat cruise for $10 that was well worth it. We love to photograph wild life and we saw over 20 deer, about 8 wild hogs, 7 turkeys, numerous alligators, many, many specious of birds and lots more. I believe we took more photos here than any other place we have camped. The camp is a typical Florida state park. Nice restrooms, lots to do like films, boat rides, trams, and lots of educational stuff. The sites were fairly spacious. There is lots of sand. It rained while we were there. The camp is around 10 miles from Sarasota and it’s numerous attractions. We have visited the Amish is several locations around the US and heard in Intercourse, PA about the Amish vacation area in Sarasota and looked it up. There is a very nice Amish Restaurant called Yoder’s that has been there since 1972. It is real Amish, not the retail type as one up the street. We ended up eating lunch there 3 days and had enough left over for dinner both nights. The cell phone service is very spotty at the campground. All in all, it was a great campground and location. Class A State Park with a Class C campground. Cramped in many sites, while roomy in others. Can be smelly close to dump station. Heavy foliage makes for lots of shade, but poor chance for satellite use unless you have a portable antenna, then still iffy. Sites 19 thru 23 good for big rigs, and portable satellite antennas. Lots to see and do within park, plus a full service restaurant will be available right on the lake, summer, 2008. Already made reservations for winter 2009. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed in the Big Flats campground. It is wooded and quiet with 30 ft. dirt lots. Interior campground roads are also dirt. There are two dumpsites, one convenient to this campground that doesn't have vehicle access but one can roll a gray-water tank to with ease. There is one laundry facility for 2 campgrounds. The park is popular on weekends with many visitors enjoying boat rides on Myakka Lake, viewing alligators, renting canoes or bikes, visiting the large camp store and snack bar. Two areas allow close-up observations of egrets, anhingas, and herons from the water's edge. Another trail has an impressive wooden tower one can climb safely to see the "canopy", looking down on the tops of palms and oaks. Many people bicycle the 8-10 miles of paved park roads. The park is about 9 miles from i-75 and about 45 minutes from downtown Sarasota attractions. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed at this park for 2 nights. It was very nice, and the sites were shaded with large oak trees. I will tell you that there are 2 camping loops at this park...The one up near the gate is the Old Prairie loop, and this one looked crowded and sites looked close together and not as much shade as the loop in the back that we stayed. The camp was pretty crowded with tent campers, and it was a little loud at night until the kids went to bed, but we just watched a movie and with the A/C going it was pretty quiet. If you want to have a campfire you are not supposed to gather wood from the forest, they want you to bring in your own firewood. So, if you don't know that you can't have a campfire. The park staff was very friendly and helpful. We took our segways, and toured the park, but didn't go down any of the trails. We saw some deer and lots of birds and alligators, of course. This park was great I would stay here again. The ranger said that January through April is real busy especially on weekends and she said that it is booked up 11 months in advance during those months and that sometimes the park is flooded out with 5 ft of water during the wet season, so call ahead to confirm even if you do get a reservation. The park is very close to the Sarasota area, and we went to the John Ringling Museum...a must see! We camped here in a Motorhome.

This was our first experience at Myakka River State Park and it will be our last. The campsites are very dirty and are extremely close together. We heard our neighbors snoring. The people who camp in this park are very rude. They are not your typical friendly campers. The showers and bathrooms do not get cleaned until 1:00. A morning shower will require you to shower in the dirt and filth from the night before. We will never come back! We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

We came here for the many miles of hiking trails and biking roads, and found that many of the hiking trails are too far from the trailheads to reach without backpacking and overnight stays at primitive campgrounds. But a ranger volunteered that it is OK to cycle the hiking trails, and that opens up great possibilities for many loops out and back. I spent several wonderful days cycling and getting a great workout. Roads are often too sandy to cycle and trails are rough (many roots and often the surface on the prairie trails resembles a plowed field), so a mountain bike with shocks front and rear is a real plus. The best hiking trail is from the trailhead to Mossy Campground, 5 miles round trip. Other activities include canoeing / kayaking and horseback riding. You can rent bikes and kayaks. Animals abound, and we saw plenty of hogs (a real pest), deer, and gators, and countless types of birds. It is a birders paradise, but we're not birders. We saw some pretty expensive telephoto lenses in use. The facilities are dated (built by the CCC in the 1930s) but kept clean and seem to be in good repair. There are only two washers and two dryers, and they're surprisingly expensive, so do laundry elsewhere. There is a small snack shop, but the nearest grocery store is in Sarasota some distance away; stock up before you arrive. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We loved this park! We did a 10 mile bike ride (although you can go further into the prairie to ride) We did hikes, and rented a canoe to go thru the Myakka River. They have an outpost store where you can buy some supplies as well as go on an airboat ride or tram ride. There is a 7 mile scenic drive within the park. There are 2 campground sites within the campground. We saw numerous animals - deer, eagles, gators galore ! It was a wonderful time. We had a great site, it was very large and not near any traffic - just the sounds of nature. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Park is a full time over 55 park that rents out spaces as they are available. Park is exceptionally clean & well taken care of. We stayed for a month. Swimming pool is nice. Locked gates at night...access with a card. Every spot has a patch of grass and usually a tree or some shrubbery. I really liked this place. Only reason for a 9 is because they don't have a fenced dog run. Other than that, FIVE stars!! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

It's a smaller mobile home/RV park, completely renovated, surrounded by a residential/car dealership neighborhood. They just opened a beautiful fenced in dog park. We first stayed in this park in 2011 and believed we had found a real gem. The park is clean and well tended. Located close to shopping, beaches and the arts. The staff is friendly and work hard to accommodate. The owner has cleared away residential sites and has added RV sites since our first stay last year. This park has many, many positive amenities. On the negative side...since January 2011, the rates have increased by nearly 64%. The RV row where the office is located is quiet. The RV rows on Doud and Hively Streets are very noisy, with speeding cars cutting through from Rt. 41 to Beneva Ave. The park is about a block from Rt. 41 therefore we get traffic noise from that highway. If you are positoned in one of the sites near Nixon St on Hively, there are homes in total disrepair to look at, with garbage around these properties, looking more like the 'slums', however there is no adjustment in rates for these sites and their view. It seems that 'clicks' develop and appear to be encouraged among the RVer's and this can make some feel very uncomfortable and unwanted especially if you plan to stay 2 or 3 months. On the brighter side, the owners offer some great meals and breakfasts throughout the months and the activities director does a tremendous job with her offers, the exercise room is exceptional. It is just a shame that the owners feel they should be 'like everyone else' and increase the rates substantially, now only the clicks can afford what we first believed to be a 'real gem'. We stayed for the month, hence the $27 rate. The rates are increasing substantially for 2011/12. $49.50 per night, $275/week and $975/month. This is a very nice park, clean, well run and (dog) friendly. There is a fair amount of vehicle traffic if you are set up on Doud St or Hively St, both connect to U.S.41 from the residential neighborhood. The west end of the park is less than two blocks from US 41 so there IS noise from the high way as well as the car dealership(s). The park is close to many things to see and do as others have posted. Given the huge rate increase, it is unlikely we will stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

What a little gem. Small older campground that's been given a lot of TLC from its new owners. They are adding more RV sites. About half the park is park model/mobile homes. Most are in nice shape. They are building a brand new swimming pool which is almost ready to open. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Hands-on owners. Price was very reasonable for the area. Location was nice on a quiet street but good proximity to all shopping. Upon check-in, we were given two $10 gift cards for a delicious nearby seafood restaurant, Phillipi Creek. It was great. We were in the expansion area in enormous sites. The only negative I can report is that these sites are made of crushed shells which can be hard on the feet. We hope to return in the future. We loved this campground. Great place for families. We were in a shady back-in spot in the Queen area: easy pull-in and set-up. The King area also looked nice. There were so many things to do we didn't get through it all. The kids had a great time on the Water Slide, bouncing pillow, water ball, water obstacle course and simply hanging out in the huge pool. We were here Memorial Day weekend and the staff was great even though the park was 100% packed. The other guests were fun as well. We enjoyed the restaurant and bar: both very reasonable. We already booked here again for later in the summer. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Very big park with tons of organized activities and facilities. Close to town and beach. Reasonably neat and tidy. About 50/50 rvs and park trailers. I'd guess about 20% transients like us. We spent a week there, because other family members are there for the season. Reasons for the low rating: For the price, the wifi should work. For the price, the cable tv signal should be strong. The hookup connections were far from the parking spot, extending my electric cable and hoses to the max. Many of the sites, including ours, bordered a busy noisy street. The animals at the adjacent retired circus animal home helped us greet every sunrise. The helicopter school added to the daytime noise. All in, not great value for the money. We spent one night only as the surrounding cities have a no overnight parking ordinance in force. There are lots of amenities at this park and the staff seems very friendly. Our site was gravel, tight and located next to a very busy golf cart/bicycle path. My dog and I were nearly run over 3 times during our short stay and I witnessed several other near incidents due to the fact our rig and tow were creating a rather large blind spot. Normally, I would have found a park like this to be ok, but with the $60/night price tag I was extremely disappointed with the small stuff. The Wi-Fi was only usable at 6AM for me. I was up at 6AM because of some large creatures (bulls, camels, oxen, who knows?) make god awful noises. Otherwise, I was not even able to connect to the Wi-Fi. My husband did utilize the fitness facility and thought it was pretty nice. There are a lot of park models and I would assume many folks staying at this park all winter, which might make sense. For an overnight stay in the Sarasota area, I would look elsewhere. We camped here in a Motorhome.

OK this is a very big park but easy to get in and out of your site, if you don't get lost! Although we don't normally stay in a resort this big we had our grand kids visit us for the weekend and thought there would be lots to do for them, and there was. This is a huge RV Park, well maintained, but a lot of residential and vacation sites, road is paved but narrow for a big rig to negotiate, grass pad with concrete patio, p/t, picnic table, clean bathrooms, dog walk, grill/restaurant, hot tubs, pool, spa, fishing lake, endless things for the kids to do, stores, restaurants and lots of sightseeing close by. This place is huge! There are a couple of areas that RV'ers can camp at inside the park. One is the Queen section and the other is the King section. We are in the Queen and it looks like its a bit older. The King section looked like the sites were a bit larger and newer with more space between them. Our site was Q26 and had a narrow road between rows. Trying to make the turn to get into the site was a bit difficult. There were cars being motorhomes on the left side and a electric utility post on the left side to watch out for. We made it OK but it was very tight. I would have had it much easier if we were on the King section. The campground itself has many amenities, swimming pool, disc golf, lawn bowling, shuffleboard, horseshoes, and many many more things than can be listed here. There is a restaurant by the pool and a bar area. There is a children's play area and splash pool for them. There are dog run areas with bags and trash containers. It is a small city with mostly mobile homes in the park and sites for transient RV'ers in those two sections. It's a nice place if you like all of those amenities, but personally I prefer a bit quieter place to camp. We would camp here again if we were in the area and passing through. It is a resort in so many ways. We love coming here with our grand kids. so much to do. Best beach in the state is 30 minutes or less away. Great pools, and oh those hot tubs. Don't miss this place! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Expensive place to stay, we came in on a special, but WOW! what a place! 2 huge pools, state of the art fitness center, spa on premises, entertainment almost daily and nightly, bar/restaurant on site, classes of all kinds, zumba, fitness coaches, you name it, this place has it. Fantastic fun, don't even have to go anywhere, there is an excellent library just down the street and a great fresh produce market as well. You can ride your bike for miles just staying inside the park! Fishing pond...Check out Ocean Blues in downtown Sarasota for some wonderful music venues and great food. This is a Good Sam park so they will discount a little. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We spent February at the Florida Keys and decided to spend the month of March at Sun N Fun. The campground is truly a five star resort. For example, the new indoor fitness and pool area may be the best in the U.S. Easy in and out, restaurant, bar and lots of activities make Sun N Fun an ideal destination for the family. For those who like Pickleball, there are 6 outdoor and 3 indoor courts. We had a great time and will be back next year. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This park is huge, it had more people than our home town! And, it was full! We had to change sites for our second night. They were very organized and friendly at check-in and escorted us to our site, which was a good thing since the place is so big! There are many things to do, the facilities are beautiful. The pool area is large, clean, and has plenty of lounge chairs. They also have a huge, new indoor pool and large work out room. There are two hot tubs, one hot and one not so hot. We would definitely stay here again. Our only complaint was that there were signs that said we couldn't bring our own drinks to the pool, I guess they wanted everyone to buy drinks at their bar, but I think when you pay over $60 for a site you shouldn't have to sneak your drinks to the pool! Also, when we changed sites they didn't clean up the new site very well, we had to sweep off the patio area before we put our rug out. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed the month of Feb. Big resort. Very friendly, lots to do-you name it, it's here. Large outdoor and indoor pool areas. The new fitness center is outstanding. Family friendly, dog friendly, no apparent breed restrictions, but all well behaved. Lots of places to ride bikes and walk. The trail around Lake is very pretty. We felt comfortable here, and will return for sure. Our site was a little small in the Queen's area; will request King's area next time (These are RV only area's, other RV sites scattered through the park with park models) Quiet at night and near lots of other Sarasota sites. This is a huge park, about 1700 sites with 3/4 of them being occupied by park models. Sites are reasonably spacious but can be likened to a parking lot (no privacy). There are constant activities, the dog parks are fantastic (bring your own bags), the pool is beautiful, and, although I didn't check it out, a huge new fitness facility. There is a bar and restaurant. Restaurant fare is basic burgers, pizza, etc. If you like hustle, bustle, and never a dull moment this park would be perfect during the season. This park is run like a well oiled machine. It's really big and has lots of manufactured homes. If you want to stay in a place with lots of stuff to do, and lots of people milling around, cars zipping here and there, this is the place for you. It even has dog washes for the dogs and 2 really nice dog parks. It was nice, but we prefer something a bit smaller, more intimate and quieter. That's not a complaint just a preference. We stayed only one night. We will stay again for a night. It's a bit much for us for long term. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a very big campground – I think there were 1,700 sites and most of them were full the week we visited. Felt more like a small city with all of the traffic (golf carts, bikes, people walking their dogs) than a campground. We had a back-in site on the pond, nice location between two park models but none of these sites seem to have much privacy – so if you are looking for a peaceful place to stay, I would go elsewhere. Pool was large and somewhat heated, two hots tubs were nice when not crowded. Lots of activities for children. Two dog parks. Security guards are very active here and patrol the campground constantly. Site was grass and level. Utilities were in the rear of the site: the electrical and sewer were in the rear left corner and the water in the rear right corner – bring your long hoses. Laundry center was good but very full in the mornings. I doubt we would stay here again unless it was off-season, there were just too many people around all of the time. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Price reflects monthly rate. This is a huge park approximately half park models and half camp sites (so the total number of units is probably double the stated 600) with paved narrow roads and either crushed shell or grass sites with concrete patios. There are lots of one-way streets. We left just prior to the opening of their multi million dollar indoor pool and wellness center. The park has tons of activities for the kids, lots of golf carts, bicycles, skate boards and motorized scooters and bikes. Recycling is required, and there are two off-leash areas and baths for the dogs. Access from I-75 is convenient. The Wi-Fi was continually up and down with strict rules of use, i.e. no downloads, etc. We did not eat at either of the restaurants. The park is a little too kid-friendly for our personal enjoyment but we would definitely return. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is our 4th stay at this campground and we really like it. There are activities for all ages, including a great swimming pool with children's area, shuffle board, miniature golf, lawn bowling, jumping pillow for the kids and many more. The staff is very friendly and helpful, as are the other campers. The best beach in the USA (Siesta Key) is only a 15 minute drive away, as well as the Mote Aquarium, Sarasota Children's Museum, movies and many restaurants. We love getting out of the Ohio winter and staying here whenever we can! We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a nice resort style RV park with all the amenities and activities. Very clean. Large clean pool and good food is served at the restaurant. Some shaded sites are available and the size of the sites was acceptable. We had a problem with the cable TV but as soon as we called they sent someone over to fix it; very good service. Don't normally give a "10" but this place has everything!! Visited bath house at different times of the day and it was always clean (except for some TP balls kids had thrown onto the ceilings. Park is huge. Easy to get in with 40' RV and toad. Staff helpful, grounds crews working hard all over. They are building a new indoor Rec center with pool (to include exercise bikes in the pool) and other amenities. Will be done in January which is their season. Have been here before and will return. The campground is certainly a resort. They have many activities to take advantage of. We were here during their summer kick-off and the pool did get quite busy. But the place is huge and there was room for more. They also schedule use for birthday parties for non-campers. It all made for a very busy weekend for the swimming pool. Great park they help you get to your site. Gravel sites with great slabs to walk on. Very friendly staff. I see more upgrades since last summer. We stayed in K-60, & K-59. Nice shaded spots. The whole "k" area is nice. Close to the pool which is a BIG attraction. Only this week end was some kind of kick off weekend, and the whole city of Sarasota got in free I guess. Turns out that is how they promote season passes. I was not real happy to pay for a premium site and then the whole city gets in free. By the end of the day the water was a little yellow it seamed. We will return but check to see what events are happening first. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We chose the standard site (dirt) and were right on the lake. Couldn't have chosen a better site in our opinion. A little close to the neighbors, but not a real problem. A lot of walking and biking can be done. Facilities were clean and staff pleasant. Pool and spa, miniature golf available and if you have a canoe or kayak a good size lake to get some exercise. This is a large park, so plan on doing a lot of walking if you don't get the King or Queen section. These are also the sections dedicated to RVs and not park model trailers. Very friendly staff, great heated pool, two hot tubs (one that's adults only). In season they have a nice lunch buffet. The pool has a pool side bar. The kids will love the place, pool, in season and on weekends a huge water slide, putt-putt golf, tennis, chip-n-putt, horse shoes, disc golf, and shuffleboard. Besides the water slide, all is included. The sites in the King and Queen area are level, most have concrete pads, most are pull through. Wi-Fi was available for free as was a computer room. The laundry room was clean and air conditioned. The bath houses were spotless. It's about a 15-20 minute drive to the beach, all shopping is within 5 miles and all new stores. We'd stay again! We camped here in a Motorhome.

In the past I have rated this park 9-10, however, this trip we were very disappointed. We took advantage of their 'pay for 2 days, stay for 3' promo. I was informed that the weekend we chose was their summer kick-off and many activities were planned for kids, including crafts and the Hippo Slide. We had our grandchildren camping with us so this sounded perfect. What we were not told, was this event was open and free to the public on Saturday. The pool, slide, hot tubs, etc., were packed liked sardines all day and night on Saturday. In addition, the Friday night before, there was a high school banquet held poolside and again the pool was overcrowded with rowdy teens. The putt putt golf equipment was in terrible shape, and there were no kid-size putters available. The bath house was semi clean but had ants crawling on the walls and floors. I think it is unfair to campers who pay to use the facilities, not to be told that they will be sharing it with locals coming in free. We would not have booked the same weekend had we been told. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We had a waterfront site. It was a nice view but very tight and did not have a pad. Everything was OK until it rained. Our site turned into a mud hole. We had to check out early as it was too wet and muddy to go outside. The rest of the facilities were very nice. We would return but only if we got into the concrete pad area. We had a great time at this campground. There were many outdoor activities to do that were all included in your resort stay. Mini golf, shuffleboard, basketball, Olympic size pool, hot tubs, horseshoes, putting green, tennis, and I'm sure I'm forgetting some. The staff was friendly and helpful. We thought our cable TV wasn't working on a Sunday night during our stay and a very helpful park staff came out in the dark with a replacement cable and assisted us in the "after hours". There is a 24-hour manned gate. There are many residents here but my family enjoyed the campground and it was such a nice place to be. There were a lot of family friendly activities in the surrounding area like the aquarium, state park, and others. I would definitely camp here again in the warmer months to really take advantage of the outside recreation. We camped here for 4 nights. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Really nice campground. While I rate it a 9, there's tons of stuff to do and the bath houses are a 10. Beware that at this time, Fruitville Road is under construction and you have to enter the campground through the campground entrance which makes for some narrow lanes as you maneuver back to the original entrance lanes and welcome center. Consequently, entering without running up against a curb is pretty sporting, but can be done. In the area where we're located, there are some side-by-side water hook-ups, so come prepared with plenty of water hoses. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This probably would have been a 10, but only Disney gets that. We stayed over 4th of July, so it was crowded but the friendly staff had everything under control. This place has a great pool, tiki bar area. The restrooms were spotless, and the service, trash pick up, etc., was top notch. We will come here again for sure. A lot of year round models here, but no trashy stuff at this place. Don't let the 1500 site thing scare you off. We played shuffleboard, mini golf, and had lots of fun at the huge pool, with two big hot tubs. Great Place! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Love this place! It was not crowded when we were here and had a lovely shaded spot which is very important in Florida at this time of the year. The staff were friendly, the pool is wonderful and the slide for the kids is great fun. Even some adults used it! This is a huge park with amenities we've never seen before: Olympic pool, two hot tubs, restaurant, poolside bar, mail room, wood shop, lapidary shop, stained glass shop, ham radio station, bass pond with big fish, three fenced dog parks, tennis courts, shuffle board, lawn bowling, two putting greens/mini golf courses, etc. People are friendly. If you are an active senior, this is your park. The price is high, and, the spaces are close together, and some of the turns are tight for a big rig. We really like this park and find it as activity-filled and relaxing as being on a cruise. There are too many varied activities to list them all, I could hardly list them all...large heated pool, two nice hot-tubs, a huge wood shop, stained glass & jewelry workshops, all sorts of sports, huge workout room, exercise classes, yoga, karoake, trivia, bingo, maj jongg etc etc. The Resort is half park models and half RVs for a total of about 800 sites. The sites are pretty narrow and some parts of the huge park have very nice landscape while other (less expensive?) areas are fairly barren. Everybody is very friendly. The location is great - restaurants, shopping, beach, and all the Sarasota has to offer is 10 to 20 minutes drive from the park. It's near I-75 an hour from Tampa, 90 min from Fort Myers and within day trip distance to Walt Disney World and many other Florida sites. The natural beauty of Myakka River State Park is only 30 minutes away. The cable TV is good but the Wi-Fi doesn't seem too strong. We're staying 17 nights, this year, and are likely to come for 3 months next winter. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We had a site on the lake that was lovely. This park is very large, almost like a small town. Pristinely clean. It has two hot tubs and an olympic pool. There's a Tiki Bar for nightly entertainment, and Sunday poolside entertainment. Also a restaurant with nightly specials that were tasty and reasonable. There's all kinds of work shops: from dancing to sewing lessons. You name it they have it! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

My husband and I really enjoyed this resort. The people were very friendly and helpful. It is a very large resort so it's easy to get lost in. There are a lot of full timers (mostly Canadian) during the winter months and it gets very crowded. They have a large heated pool and two outdoor hot tubs. There are lots of things to do at this resort to keep you busy. The downfall to this resort is that the sites are nothing spectacular and a little tight. The restaurant only serves breakfast on Sunday mornings and there are no other restaurants close by. You definitely need to have a vehicle if you plan on eating outside of the resort. During the winter months it is very crowded!!! We would stay here again because the price was right and we had a very enjoyable time. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Previous reviews give a pretty good picture of the place. The campground is very big, but individual spaces are tightly packed. Lots of permanent residents. They are well organized with lots of handouts when you arrive. For us the strongest point was the pet friendliness, including one enclosed run large enough to play serious catch with your dog. A weak point is their WiFi setup, which is not robust. They have lots of coverage, but weak and variable signal strength-- it needs work, and they know it as is shown in their WiFi handout Q&A, in which they basically blame you. They even suggest in the handout that you think about getting a Comcast or Verizon account if you need full-time service! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here for two months at special monthly rate. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly, lots of planned activities from pool to woodworking, etc. but events do not really start until near November when we left. The pool/spa area was exceptional, we felt we were in the Bahamas with all the tropical plants. Great bike riding as the park is huge but fairly empty until the snowbirds show up. Several lakes within the park to walk around, fish, or just look at but location was near year-round park models. Three great activitiy centers, 3 laundries, very pet friendly with two areas fenced for you dog to run and pet wash stations. Great place, won several awards, high security, gated. We would return. After camping three different occasions, we decided to "park & leave" for the month of August along with another family. We camped the first two weekends in August but decided to leave during the middle of the second weekend because our teenagers were harrassed by a member of the staff. The management was not professional handling the situation and we were insulted and also realized that this is basically an adult campground and not family friendly therefore we were not welcome. We will not return and suggest anyone traveling with teenagers to look for another campground for a family friendly camping experience. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

The amenities are exceptional. Showers were the cleanest I've ever seen. There is a lot to do for seniors and families as well.The sites are level. However, there is a relatively small area for short term stays. The park is primarily for "snowbirds" and there are a lot of park models that are semi-permanent fixtures. The sites are small and somewhat shaded. I would camp here again, but I really did not like having a semi-permanent "neighbor" with all their stuff outside. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This park looks good from the front check in area. We were put on a site in the back with mostly permanent residents. The pool area was nice the sites were awful. Like being in an old trailer park, most of the permanent trailers are old and run down. We camp in state parks often and are used to things being mowed and our site being clean upon arrival. We camped here with friends for Spring Break and enjoyed our time there. The biggest bonuses are the pool, bar, and family activities like shuffleboard, mini golf and billiards. The roads are paved and easy to ride your bike or roller blade on. We were disappointed that we couldn't have a fire ring. I called two days before our arrival and was told we could as long as it was above ground but when we arrived suddenly we could cook over a fire but couldn't have one for entertainment. Some of the best camping memories are over an open flame! Sites are mixed in with permanent residents but we got used to feeling like the outsiders after a day. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Busy roads with cars, rigs, carts, bikes and walkers. Hot tubs are huge but so chlorinated that it bleached my swimsuit. We paid about $30 a day for the first 5 days and decided to stay one more day. Our family loves this campground. This is the second year in a row that we spent the Christmas and New Year's holidays here, and we can't wait to return again next year. It is a very large campground, but the staff and the guests are all very friendly and helpful. When we first arrived this year our cable was not working. The person that escorted us to our site immediately called maintenance and they had the problem resolved within 10 minutes. They have a very nice children's pool and a very large regular pool, along with two hot tubs. This campground is what every campground should be like. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Very crowded, the sites were very small, not manicured, fallen leaves and acorns everywhere. Feels like a shanty town. Nice pool and restaurant on site, friendly staff. Will not return due to crowding. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sun-N-Fun. We originally planned to stay one month to visit friends in Sarasota, but wound up staying over two months over the holiday period. At over three typed pages, the list of park activities was impressive. The staff was super nice, especially to newcomers like us. Our grandkids came for the holidays, and had a ball. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a fun park. The pool is huge with a bar and grille. The sites were nice but narrow. The bathrooms and showers were very clean. Upon arrival staff escorted us to our site and got us anything we needed. On premises there is put put golf, fishing and a game room. This park is great for the whole family. The staff was very friendly and i would return in the future. Close to the beach and shopping. We camped here in a Motorhome.

As the previous reviewer said, it is a bit on the older crowd side. That being said, we were just in the Keys, and the older crowd there seemed to be more lively, happy, and welcoming. Here, it's kind of a click situation. If you aren't here for an extended winter stay, you really aren't part of the crowd. The pool facility here is the best I've seen at any RV park (we've been to a lot lately) and the laundry facilities are nice. We did stay in two different sites while here. The first was in their "deluxe" area and was very nice, with good tree coverage (no satellite use, but they have excellent cable and wifi) and great locating in this huge park. The second site was much further into the park, one of their "premier" sites and was a huge disappointment. While all the other premier sites around us had grass and were well maintained, the one we got was dirt and sand. Our jacks sank into the soft sand and we tracked dirt into the rig constantly. Given the size of the park, you'd think they would take this site out of the mix for a short time to fix it up to the standard of the rest of the park, with either gravel or grass. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Very nice LARGE park almost a small city. A lot of traffic in and around the park! Sites small for the price, large amount of planned activities and classes. Very large pool with a nice bar & restaurant & two large hot tubs. A lot of people in and around the park the majority of them seasonal residents. Dogs allowed but no retractable leashes. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Our monthly rate for January was $1027. The pool area with a bar, restaurant and two spas makes you feel like your are in a first class resort...which you are. They have non-stop activities that even include a nationally recognized lawn-bowling facility. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Sun-N-Fun is a beautiful Florida RV resort. This resort has both long-term residents as well as many RV sites. The staff was very friendly as were other campers and residents. The pool area was very tropical with a heated olympic size pool , 2 jacuzzi's (very clean) with a seasonal poolside bar and grill. Children are very welcome as well as pets. There seems to be something for everyone as they have many sports & facilities on the property to keep busy. We saw many riding bikes, walking and enjoying themselves. We had a wonderful and very relaxing time here and our child enjoyed it just as much as we did. We will be making a trip here again. We camped here in a camper.

As other reviews state, the spaces are small but since we were in a 17' Casita travel trailer this was not an issue. Our site had full hookups with Wi-Fi (local 20 TV channels available for small additional fee). It is basically one long street with 40 sites. Has security gate and is operated by Sarasota County. It is all about location, location, location. Walk 100 yards or less west and you are on Turtle Beach, walk same distance east and you are at Turtle Beach Pub and Marina. If you are a beach person this it it. Beach, boating, kayaking. All the things we love. Stayed in June so the summer rate was great. $32.00ish. Will be back. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

The guy below must have been an awful driver. Yes, the sites are not too big, but there is easily enough room to park a 25 ft trailer. Sounds like the guy just had a bad experience with the druggies and let it cloud his judgement. Great location for the beach and deathly quiet at night. Wi-fi was very in and out. Showers good and laundry, too. Excellent restaurant across the road, an absolute must if you stay here. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is the place to be if you love the beach. You have to really LOVE the beach to overlook some of the other glaring issues. One: the sites are really small. Before we booked, I read some of the other postings on this issue but I didn't think I'd have a problem. I have a small 25' travel trailer. I thought: how small can they really be? They are very small in length and width. Not only are you almost on top of your neighbor but there isn't even enough room at the end to turn around. We had to stop traffic on the main road (midnight pass) so I could back in. It was a very stressful way to begin my beach vacation. Two: our neighbors smoked pot almost the entire weekend. I have a small child. You can imagine the two do not go hand in hand. Three: the showers are just like any other public beach shower. Sandy, old, and in need of repair. These were one of the worst I've seen. But despite all this, if you really love the beach this is the place to be. I've decided, I'm more of a pool person and will be camping elsewhere. $50.00 a night is too much to spend just to have beach access. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

Once established campground was wonderful with beach access steps away from 5th wheel. Only problem with this site is sites are very close, and very hard to get into. Otherwise great experience, and would stay again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

If this campground were in the middle of the state it would rate a 2. But it is not In the middle of the state, it is right on the Gulf of Mexico on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Turtle Beach is just South of Siesta Key and the sand is white, you can walk out in the water for 50 yards and still only be waist deep, and the water is very clear on most days. This campground has the beach and that is all it does have. The sites are small but once you are here if you wanted a beach, then this is the best you are going to get almost anywhere. Outside the campground there are numerous places to eat and spend time in the evening but on the campground it is all beach. The bathrooms and showers are kept fairly clean but are usually sandy. We love the beach so we really like this place. We stayed for a couple of weeks and our nightly cost includes the extra charge for AC and all taxes. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This campground was ok. The sites were VERY tight, we had a 31 foot motorhome pulling a car and we almost didn't fit. I had to back the car right next to RV, that took 90% of sitting area. The people that run this park are VERY strict about rules and are always out in-between the hours 8am and 5pm, then they went home and people did what ever they wanted. I heard from other RV's that Sarasota wants that land to put up high priced hotels, so one mess-up with rules and bye-bye campground. Now the good. Walk 20 feet and you are in the ocean; go about 10 miles down the road and you are at Siesta Key Beach, a very cool beach. Go about 20 miles other way and you are at Venice Beach, another cool beach. Our beach was good: had lots of sea shells, was never crowded and was nice to walk out of the RV right to the beach. We would camp here again, but without the car. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Located on beautiful Siesta Key, this tiny gem is right on the Gulf. Pets are not allowed. It's a squeeze to get in and out of the RV area and, due to space limitations, you must park your car next door at Turtle Beach Park. But where else in Sarasota can you open your RV door and be on the beach in less than a minute? Fine dining is located right across the street at Turtle's Restaurant and Ophelia's. If you like the beach, this is a very convenient place to stay. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The last time we stayed, they were undergoing a beautification project here and at Siesta Village. I personally love it here. Nothing fancy, but you won't need that with the beautiful blue Gulf of Mexico at your footsteps. Sunsets are not surpassed. There is alot to do on Siesta Key and Sarasota if you want to venture out. Can't wait to stay here again this coming April. This time I'm bringing my sis along. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
