Huge, private, level sites on lake. Outstanding views. Spotless grounds. Rate reflects senior discount. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Outstanding CG, with huge level sites, many right on the water or with great views, and lots of space between them. Some sites have better view of water than others. Good roads for easy maneuvering. The shade was great, but not for satellite reception. Very nice staff and the CG is very well-run. I reluctantly entered this review as I thought I'd like to keep it a secret! Can't wait to come back. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Awesome...wonderful campground. Wish they had sewer we would have stayed 2 weeks. Lots are spacious and private. Waterfront lots are really nice. One section is very wooded for tent camping. We were in a 40' motor home and picked a larger lot that was not as shady. Quiet. My MiFi card was slow. Hosts are super. Nice dock and ramp. We will be back. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We had our reservations made and confirmed January 1st, 2012 for our arrival in May 2012 for 11 days. The cost reflects Senior rates. Our friends also made their reservations at the same time, we were talking on the phone and online at the same time picking out our spots together. That is a great benefit to all people! Then COE people contacted us and had to change our site due to have the park renovated and our original site was not going to be RV sites any longer including our friend's site. So we had to coordinate again with the reservation people on the telephone and finally it worked out, we thought! When we arrived to Cumming a day early (we stayed at another place for one night), we decided to go check out our spot at the campground and it was just before closing around 9:30PM. The camp host, Winn, was so kind to help us and allow us to see our sites before closing time. When we looked at our new site, it was obviously way too small for our travel trailer and our truck. We immediately went back to the camp host and said there was no way we or our friend could ever fit in those two new spots! We are too big. All in all, everything worked out okay one night before our arrival because of Winn's personal attention to make things right. We even were able to take care of our friends and get them a spot for their much larger 5th wheel. While we were visiting the park for 11 days, that is when it was rescheduled (the second or third time) to redo the park with huge machinery to break up concrete and asphalt. Other machinery to make new roads to the new campsites. More machinery to lay the stinky and sticky asphalt down. The people working did a great job especially the asphalt guys, they took extra care when doing the asphalt around our rig and didn't, Did Not get any oil or asphalt onto our rig whatsoever! They had no control of the smell for a few days and that was unpleasant. I don't believe this park will be appropriately opened for travel trailers or 5th wheels since I believe they made it more accommodating for tent style camping. There was one launch open that I saw for boating on the lake. Now that they have redone the park at this specific loop, the Sawnee Campground, it will be beautiful for someone, but not us. We have a Travel Trailer and our friends have a 5th wheel. I would suggest to find another COE park on the other side of Lake Sydney Lanier to have a pleasant time. The most positive time was the Camp hosts. They made our visit a lot better! Camp hosts are very important and necessary. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Breathtaking views all around us! Beautiful lake for swimming and boating. Campground has a boat ramp and beach area. Clear and clean water to keep cool in. Marina close by (15 min drive) where we rented a boat at a reasonable price. Sites were large but not necessarily private. Big rigs will not make friends on the roads leading to the campground because the road is narrow and curvy. Plenty of room to navigate inside the park. No sewer or cable (these would have made my rating a 10). Clean restrooms. Did I mention the view? I'll be back again! We camped here in a Motorhome.

They were rebuilding a restroom, so the main restroom was very crowded. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

We stayed here one weekend to "try somewhere new"... loved it! the sites are a little close together for my liking, but other than that, I really enjoyed Shady Grove. We stayed in the newer section and were blown away by how beautiful it was. And although my husband wasn't crazy about the steps down to the main pad, I liked it! I really enjoyed the fact that they used large crush gravel rather than little pea gravel on the pads... less gets tracked in for me to clean! The staff was incredibly helpful as well. We came during the week to scope the park out, see what we liked and make notes as we do with all parks we are interested in. The attendant gave us a map, but then rode out to help guide us based on what we said we looked for in a site. His insight was great! We will definitely be going back! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Overall the campground is very nice and very spacious. Sites are very spread out with nice views of the lake. It's a little light on amenities but it's a county park that used to be a COE so there's not much to compete against if you need to camp in the Atlanta area. The gate locks from 10-7am and they don't give you the code so that is a bit of a hassle. The bathhouses seem to only be cleaned weekly, but all and all it's a good clean campground, for a very competitive price. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Great park on Lake Lanier. We live nearby, but this was our first time visiting. Plenty of room for big rigs, water pressure was good as was the electrical service. We stayed in a pull through that was terraced with the lower level being the outside area. Plenty of room for campfires, eating and general set up without being cluttered right next to the camper. The site we stayed on has a great view of the lake. We would camp here again We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Camped here because it was the closest big rig friendly park to the Confederate Nationals at River Bend. Nice park, interesting lay out, definitely big rig friendly and they take you to the site first to make sure. Our site was gravel, in a large gravel parking area, but was very easy to back into. Electric, water and sewer are ground level so your slide will go over it if need be. Satellite worked fine, not blocked by trees. There are sites in a wooded area that can be tricky for big rigs. The creativity of the layout of this park is not completely appreciated until it rains. Spent 6 days here and it rained 4. The gravel parking area drained well. Lake sites are beautiful, big rig friendly, gravel in a gravel lot. If you are at a site with no sewer, they will loan you one of those blue tote tanks. There are no amenities, except propane, but everything is close. Employees are helpful and non-intrusive. Not good for kids, nothing to do. Even without amenities, this was a very nice park and I would come here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a beautiful park. We are parked right next to the office so our view isn't the best in the park, but you don't have to wander far out your front door to see the lakes and enjoy the grounds. They have a well manicured dam that splits the lake and you can walk out and sit on the far side. They have picnic tables at every site, and have added bench swings and shade trees at strategic points along the lake so that you can fully enjoy the beauty. The owners have even added doggie doo stations around the park for pet owner convenience. While they do not have any amenities like laundry, public restrooms or a pool, they do have propane on site. I really like that you can pick up the latest Red Plum advertiser in the office for local coupons, and they also have catalogs and business cards for local businesses like Schwan's. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a very clean and quiet campground. No laundry or public restrooms but that really didn't matter to us. There were quite a few campers there but not many people. We watched the fireworks over the lake in different directions. We will stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
