This campground is nicely wooded and most of the sites are shaded and level. While we enjoyed our stay, there are some pros and cons. Pros: level sites, quiet, not crowded, with a decent beach area. Cons: bath house was old and very dated, grass was overgrown, no trash receptacles anywhere in the park (had to go outside the gates to a dumpster), some sites have pea gravel but mine was dirt. Also the site I had was lower than the road. It rained one night so all of the water flooded our site. It appears that there are only two employees (the hosts) who work here. The campground is owned and operated by Georgia Power. I'm very surprised that they invest so little in the maintenance. Oh well, for 20 bucks what should I expect? This is a beauitful park on Lake Oconee - a real fisherman's park. There are nice level back in sites which were huge. The price was right for a two night stay. The park hosts were very nice and helpful as well. This one is on my list to return too. Only drawback was its a tad bit out of the way, but worth the drive. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We celebrated Thanksgiving here with my family. This is a very clean campground with spacious sites. The facilities are a bit dated, but well cared for. Situated right on the lake with separate loops for RV & tent campers. Lots of trails to walk, friendly camp hosts, and neighborly campers. Some of the sites are far from being level, but otherwise a good place to kick back and enjoy some peace & quiet. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Campground hosts were very helpful and very friendly. Everything was nice and clean.
VERY QUIET. We had a wonderful time. The only things bad I could say were the electrical box's were far away from campsite so make sure to bring a good
long extension cord and they only had one shower that had a privacy curtain so you could shower AND change clothes in privacy. Otherwise this is a great site if you want to have a nice quiet camping weekend. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
The sites are poorly designed, very unlevel, and too close to your neighbor. The water pressure was low. The main power went off because to many campers with their A/C's on. The roads are muddy and not maintained. The bathrooms were dirty and had mold growing in them. There was trash all over. Many permanent campers did not maintain there rigs. The water (broken handle), sewer (inlet was cut off flush to the ground), and electrical hookups (pole was knocked over) were busted, but worked (amazing). We won't go back here.
