A huge park. Yes it has mobile homes and permanent residents, but the place is so big, you won't even notice them. Very clean and convenient to Stone Mountain. Several restaurants close by and a couple in walking distance. Friendly and helpful owners. Would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed here one night. We had a pull through site but it was still difficult to get into. The site was gravel and very uneven. The roads narrow, rough and with lots of curves. We ended up having to pull very far forward in our site to get halfway level and then our sewer hose wouldn't reach. We will not stay here again. I'm giving it a 4 star because the staff was friendly. They let us arrive in the middle of the night. Then leave well after checkout. They also have a one pet, 20 pounds or less rule. We have 2 dogs both 40 pounds and they didn't charge any extra for that. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

As other reviewers have mentioned this is a mobile home park with RV sites. The owners are extremely helpful and very accommodating. The park is located about 25 minutes from downtown Atlanta and a few miles from Stone Mountain Park. Plenty of shopping nearby. The sites in the front of the park have open satellite access. Plenty of room for Big Rigs. This is the closest park to Atlanta and the west side of town. Much better than the park in Marietta and a lot less expensive than Stone Mountain. That being said there are no amenities other than a older laundry room. Given this, the weekly rate is a bit high. Good place to stay if you are visiting Atlanta and need a home base. We will stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The owner is working to convert this mobile home park so it accommodates RVs, including big rigs. The sites are spacious and open. The RV sites we saw are very clean and easy to access. The permanent mobile homes are very well kept and clean of any clutter, and spaced out. WiFi is available. As of our stay, they have 5 pull thru sites. Plenty of room to disconnect the toad, though, and park it onsite. A bit tricky to get to the park if you are traveling east on 78. You must pass the park, turn left at next light, find a place to u-turn or turn around, go back to light, turn right, then right again into park. I understand she is in dialogue with GS to be included in the GS network of RV parks. When one considers there are just 3 available independent RV parks in the entire Atlanta metro area, and an unsubstantiated rumor that the city does not allow overnight parking in WalMart parking lots, staying at this park is a no-brainer. The price is right. Very close to the Stone Mountain Park, but not a part of it. Water pressure is very high (100+psi) and a regulator must be used, and used AT THE TAP. We will stay here again, overnight or for an extended stay, anytime. The owner and staff are very friendly, helpful. We camped here in a Motorhome.

As full-time RVers, my husband and I have stayed at Stone Mountain Heights three times now, each visit for several months at a time while we live and work and spend time with friends in town. We enjoy it so much that this is now the only park we'll stay at when in Atlanta. It's incredibly convenient to Stone Mountain Park (just 1/4 mile up the road) and Atlanta proper (just straight down Hwy 78 through Decatur), incredibly safe and secure, unbelievably affordable, and full of friendly and helpful long-termers that we are proud to call our "neighbors." Plus the staff are just wonderful. Every time we return to this family-owned park, they make us feel as though we are coming home. I know some people will tell you to stay IN Stone Mountain Park, but I disagree. Our monthly rent would be half again as much in the off-season and nearly twice as much during high season, plus a $10 a day parking fee. Why pay that when you can stay for less at Stone Mountain Heights. Buy an annual pass for $40, and come and go to the park as you please during your visit? We go to the park nearly every day to jog, climb the mountain, and enjoy the amenities for a heck of a lot less than actually staying in one of their RV spaces. The negative reviews I've seen about this park are posted by vacationers who were expecting "resort" accommodations, but that's not what Stone Mountain Heights is all about. They've got everything we need for our full-timing lifestyle, a great laundry facility, free unlimited Wi-Fi, a pool, safe streets for walking and biking, shaded RV spots, lots of space between you and the next rig, and folks who will go out of their way to help you if you're having a package delivered or need assistance with your awning or have a maintenance problem you can't figure out. If you're looking for a safe, friendly, convenient, well-maintained community in which to full-time as you're stopping in Atlanta, I highly recommend Stone Mountain Heights. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This campground was a 60's mobile home park that is slowly being converted to an RV park. It is huge. Unfortunately there is no cable, Wifi, restroom/shower/laundry/garbage within walking distance of where we stayed. The site was rather rough and unlevel. It appears that they are adding gravel to level sites as they go along so some sites are better than others. They don't give any discounts (PA, Good Sam, etc.). We felt that the price was too high for the amenities. They are close to Stone Mountain, but we would stay in the Stone Mountain Park campground next time even though it costs $10 extra to get in. The difference would more than offset being in the park with the location and amenities. We would not stay there again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This RV Park has been great for a 4 night stay. The people checking us in were knowledgeable and friendly and we were escorted to our large, level pull-through site. The water pressure is the best we have experienced! There are cement patios next to every spot. This park also has mobile homes in it and a great swimming pool. It is convenient to fast food, Wal-Mart, and other stores and is about 17 miles from Atlanta. We recommend RV Park this highly and will stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This was a pleasant surprise. The campground had large sites that could accommodate any size rig. Staff at the check in was the nicest and most informative campground worker ever. They take Passport America and have a free shuttle to the mountain. Good Water and electricity and plenty of security. some of the nicest campers we met on a month long trip. We would definitely stay here again We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is not a typical RV park. It was clearly a mobile home park that is slowly being converted to RV sites as the mobiles move out. As such, there are many permanent residents. The park appeared to be well cared for, and our pull-through site was shady and mostly level. We had a concrete patio and there was plenty of room between us and the neighbors. The only annoying thing about the whole experience were the neighborhood children who thought it was OK to walk through our site several times a day. Laundromat was functional but not air conditioned, staff at the office was very helpful, and we were guided into our site by one of the employees. Trash pick up only twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays; otherwise you toss it in the dumpster yourself. Pool is nice though frequently occupied by kiddoes. Very quiet community. Located very near Stone Mountain Park itself and only about twenty minutes or so from downtown Atlanta. Warning: water pressure here is very high. Don't forget your regulators! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Rate is weekly. Eastbound on Hwy. 78 (Stone Mountain Highway) you will need to pass the park and turn around at Lowe's on your left one or two blocks down. Park has a pool which appeared to be just about to open. Lots of long term folks and spacious sites with trees, grass and concrete patios. Roads are paved asphalt, and sites are gravel. I do not believe there were restrooms as it is predominantly a mobile home park. We ran our a/c units continually and had no problems whatsoever with the power. I can't say enough about the friendliness of the other residents/guests and staff. We would stay again if in the area. We camped here in a Motorhome.

As previous reporters have stated, it is a mobile home park with RV spaces where mobile homes used to be. Roads are narrow with lots of speed bumps; sites are not level. We have our jacks on the passenger side all the way down lifting the right rear off the ground. Managers are very nice. Takes quite a few minutes to get to a site because of the speed bumps. No direct entrance to park. Have to go down 3 miles to Lowe's to turn around. Park has kids running around, and some guys that look like they don't work for a living walking around looking at RV's. OK for a few days to see Atlanta, then move on. Voltage a little weak. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The previous post accurately describes this park. It is an older mobile home park, that is gradually being converted into an RV park. There’s lots of space between each site. The electricity was weak at times. The owners are super friendly and helpful. Our rate reflects a two day stay. Stay longer, and the daily rate goes down. If you decide to stay in this park, call and ask for instructions about entering the park. It is fairly easy to enter once you know how to navigate around the highway median. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We came in about 2 weeks ago and were quite pleased. The camp is family owned and they are very helpful with problems. They are working hard at improving the RV sites by putting large gravel on the old mobile home sites. This place is over 40 years old and many of the mobile homes are being removed and converted to RV sites. They have fairly strict rules and seem to adhere to them, for example, motorcycles are NOT allowed in the park. The residents are friendly and it stays quiet. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a beautiful campground. Make sure you get the right directions before you come here, because there is a 12-foot bridge nearby and 3 campers hit it in the last week and took out their a/c units and satellites. GPS will take you the wrong way!!! Take right exit and DO NOT go through the small town. Nice park: beautiful, lots of sites, with benches and fire pits. Most sites arfe a little uneven and there are lots of trees. Do not come in after dark because maneuvering an RV into a site can be difficult. Good Wi-Fi, and beautiful park. I would recommend. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is primarily a spacious, well-maintained mobile home community with some spaces converted for RVs. Very quiet. THERE ARE NO SHOWER/RESTROOMS! Sites are very spacious with concrete patios, either under large trees or some in the open for satellite access. Staff is very friendly. Rate is based on monthly rate. Just minutes from Stone Mountain park, and great rate for an extended stay. We camped here in a Motorhome.

I found it difficult to rate this park, because there are some big positives which are offset by some big negatives as indicated in previous reviews. The positives are that this park resides in a beautiful setting in the trees and around the lake. Many of the sites have views of the lake, and some have views of Stone Mountain. There are several miles of walking trails and biking paths, and the hike up to the top of Stone Mountain is one mile and not to be missed. We were here when it was slow, so of course it was fairly quiet. It's hard to image a 400+ site campground filled up, I'm sure it would be fairly chaotic. Site spacing and length are decent. There are several "comfort buildings" with large and clean bathrooms, and they each have nice showers with benches and good pressure. Three or four of those buildings also have laundry rooms with 4 washers and 4 dryers each. In the negative column are the roads into most of the sections, which are the most hideous paved roads we have seen with potholes and root incursions aplenty. My wife was thrilled that I was able to guide the motorhome to our site without sustaining body damage or emptying the dishes out of the cabinets. Level sites? Forget about it! Many are unusable by most types of RV's, in my opinion. We would not have been able to level in many others. Our site was #346 in section "M", which was a reasonably level pull-through site that overlooked the lake. Sections "F" and "L" seemed to be a little newer with more level sites and decent roads, but not as close to the water. Some sections have full hookups, some without sewer. There are also some nice sites near the front of the park that have decks with propane cookers installed. If possible, we would suggest driving through the park to pick your site if they will allow it. Once we were parked and leveled, the beautiful surroundings somewhat made up for the terrible roads and lack of maintenance. As previously mentioned, the price is high for what you get here, and the $10 just to get into the park doesn't help. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Where do I begin. Be aware, to get into the park you have to pay $10 just to GET to the campground! We arrived near dark and in the rain. Only one FHU left in this narrow, rooted site. No air or cable TV as advertised. The Wi-Fi was either nonexistent or spotty at best. I would never come back. We camped here in a Truck Camper.

This campground was great because of all the activities at Stone Mountain Park. Our site was tight to get into and small overall. We felt cramped while at the campsite. But, we didn't spend a lot of time in the campsite. We enjoyed the lake, we hiked, we toured the quarry, we went to the top of the mountain and could have gone to the laser show. At night we rested well. The pool was nice and very busy. Also, the campground hosted an ice cream social. Our site had water electric, fire ring and picnic table. We will return to this campground many times. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is a perfect park if you want to visit Stone Mountain for the amusements and its historic side. But it is a terrible park as parks go, with broken asphalt on the roads and sites, and sites are very unlevel. Stay away from lane M. I think Lane F is the best. Rate is high but includes free park entrance for your entire stay. Office staff was friendly, but could not move us due to overcrowding. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The park has a lot of spaces that need repair. They could spend some of the money they charge to upgrade the sites because a lot have cracked asphalt, very uneven sites, and not much room if you have a tow vehicle to park. I stayed two nights and think that it is overpriced for the condition of the sites we stayed around. Laundry is $2.00 to wash and $2.00 to dry. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Rate shown is based on weekly rate and a Passport America discount. We stayed in the regular full hook-up sites and were a little disappointed. It is obvious all the money is put toward the premium sites up front. The regular sites are very uneven making it hard to level your rig and the roads are in need of repair. These regular sites are way over priced as are all the sites at this park, but you must take into consideration that you are inside Stone Mountain park. They do offer free WiFi and it does work, but as the number of campers increase the speed suffers dramatically. The park is beautiful and has much to offer and the campground is not bad, but be prepared to pay if you want to get a decent space. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a real nice park! Beautiful trees surrounding most sites. Premium sites with decks and gas grills were more open around the pool area. This park is among the most convenient to downtown Atlanta. It is very large and will accommodate all sizes of RV’s. Getting to the park can be a bit confusing but the access roads are good. You are charged a $10 parking fee before proceeding to the campground. Check in was easy and fast; office staff was businesslike but efficient and courteous. With the exception of the sites in the loop around the office and pool, all sites are well-shaded, gravel/stone, and level. Good utility hookups. Many sites have a deck and a gas grill. Bath and shower facilities were relatively modern and tolerably clean given that it was the July 4th holiday and usage was heavy. Campground personnel keep the grounds clean and pick up trash on a set schedule. Free shuttle service is available to the attraction area of Stone Mountain Park. For those who visit during the hot summer months, I’ll suggest the use of a meter to keep tabs on the voltage to your rig, as the heavy demand created by A/C units taxed the capacity of their electrical system. Rate reflects cost of stay over a holiday. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Many things to love about this campground. While there we made use of the lake, pool, and playground area. Beautiful views, spacious campsites with grill, picnic table, and fire pit. Bath house was very clean. Prices in camp store were reasonable. Staff was friendly and helpful. Only downside was Wi-Fi was very slow...painful to use when we needed to look up directions/information on surrounding attractions. Also, cable channels were very limited. Good thing we took DVDs for the little one. Overall fantastic experience. Would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

It has a wonderful light show, climbing Stone Mtn is a great feat and beautiful views, hiking, walking and many other assets to the park. There is a nice pavilion with a great fireplace. The free boat ride is really short, 15 minutes. However, we were surprised how unkempt it was. Stones in the grass, no sites blown off, grass uncut, shower/bath houses OK but not superb which I think they should be for the $$$ we pd. We had to spray for termites as they were swarming around our camper. I did not see any maintenance people, only the trash truck. I guess people come for the rides and amusements. The rate reflects the PA price. You will also pay a $10.00 parking fee upon entering the park. This is a one time fee, you will receive a pass when you check in at the CG good for the length of your stay. The CG is very scenic. In season there is a lot to do here. Unfortunately we were here mid-week in March and most of the attractions were closed. There is no cable. There is Wi-Fi and the pull through site we had on "O Trail" had a strong enough signal. All the staff is friendly and pleasant. We'll probably be back next year to explore more of the park. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is an ok park. This was our 3rd stay, guess we are slow learners. Our site, 280, had cable tv that worked mostly ok, wifi was iffy most of the time, no privacy from adjacent rigs, pavement at sites and roads is in a great state of disrepair. Check staff were very friendly and equally inefficient. One person registered campers, the other two talked to each other. For our travel routing, this is a convenient stopping spot. Some day in the future, if it is not raining, I'd like to play golf at one of their two 18 hole courses. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

I would love to rate this park higher than an "8" because it is a beautiful destination with many sites overlooking the lake. The entire loop around the Stone Mt. State Park is beautiful and there is a great skyride up the mountain and a terrific museum. The campground itself was really nice and we will return if in the area. However the paved roads within the park could use some work and the bathrooms, though clean, could use an upgrade. Wi-Fi was nonexistent at site 31 and we had to walk to the pavilion to use our computer. They advertise Wi-Fi at every site, and that is important to us. We camped here in a Motorhome.

OK, the park itself is great and the place for the whole family to have a wonderful time. This was our third trip in 3 years to the campground (tent, popup, and now travel trailer). Your enjoyment of the campground will be entirely based on your campsite because many are NOT level by any standard. Thankfully, we had a passable site (#287) but the campground was crowded and jammed packed on our loop (L). I think loops F, E, and C are best. Our loop (L) was good except maybe site #289. Loop M (lakeside) and loop N (373+) were all sites we would revisit. Loop M pull throughs except #307 should probably be avoided. An earlier reviewer mentioned #344 were we saw a travel trailer with the front hitch on the ground and truckload of lumber jacking up the rear end - we should have taken a picture because we are still chuckling over it and glad it was not us. We are already planning our next trip to Stone Mountain. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

What we hoped to be a relaxing weekend became stressful. We had site 344. We were looking forward to the ease of having a pull through site. This site however didn't have any level spot on it! We spent our weekend sleeping at a tilt despite all our best leveling attempts! The door to our camper was only two feet from the campground road that passed by. There was no place to set up chairs and we couldn't put our awning out or it would have been in the road. The picnic table was on the opposite side of our camper and there was no fire ring as advertised. When we voiced our complaints to the office they were of no help. When we tried to return our firewood that we had purchased (for our fire ring that we thought we would have) the lady at the store was rude. Overall, we had a very stressful and poor experience! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

A beautiful park, BUT satisfaction depends entirely on the specific site. We were assigned a "pull through." It was so far from level that it was unusable. The real big rig sites were filled with chili cook off crowd (we made our reservation a couple months ahead). The manager did move us to another site and did a lot of work to get us acceptably level by adding blocks, etc. After that the rest of the stay was very nice. Price reflects Passport America for some of the nights. There is an initial one time entrance fee of $10 to enter the park on the first day. We camped here in a Motorhome.

NOTE: This is for the campground, not Stone Mountain Park itself and was for a Electric and Water site for a large pop up (although we were ultimately upgraded to a W/E site for a large pull behind trailer). Had high expectations for this campground and was disappointed. Unless you had a premium site, the grounds could be in average to poor shape. Ended up moving because original (2) assigned sites were so poor we could not use it. Shuttle service after fireworks show had 1 shuttle running for close to 200 campers getting back - but believe this was a one time problem, still had 60-90 min wait. PRO's: Very friendly staff, quick check-in, shuttle service to park, security patrols often throughout night, bathhouse clean, swimming pool, large shade trees, beautiful lake, great entertainment nearby. CON's: Unless you had a premium site many sites were in rough shape (missing fire rings, wash out, poor roads, no grass, debris on site, may not be level), roads very narrow (even for my pop up!) and some roads in bad shape, sites crammed together, when campground is full parking is tricky (too many cars, not enough room). Grounds are very hit and miss. If you could scout a site out first, you could have a very pleasant experience. Avoid Loop A if possible, avoid sites 51 and 52 all together. Loop C and E was premium and looked very nice. ENTERTAINMENT: You MUST see the park, too much to list here to do from kids to adults, take in laser light show if you can. So impressed that we bought annual passes. Ironically it comes with free camping - but will be very picky about our site next time. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed in 416 with a great view of the lake and mountain. Site was level had electric and water, concrete picnic table, fire ring and neat granite wall around a third of the site. We camped Wednesday through Friday during the last week of August. The full Summer rate is in effect until October. We were surprised that all of the attractions are now closed except on the weekend. You would think the rate would be less than full rate. There was very little to do. With the exception of that very disappointing fact, we were pleased with the campground. It is beginning to show its age, however. Many of the roads and campsite pads have deteriorated. We used Passport America for 1 night of our 3 night stay. Check in was good, but the staff told us we had a back in, it was a pull in - caused some confusion as we got to our site. The site was level, utilities in good working order. There were 2 dead trees, one of each side of our site, that were marked with a big red X. I imagine they will be cut down at some point, they need to come down now. There was a tent area near the big rig sites, but no path for the tent people to access the bath house, so they cut through the RV sites - occupied or not. I don't blame the tent people, the campground needs to provide a path. The free Wi-Fi was very weak and slow at our site, even just checking email was a test of patience. Oddly, our Verizon signal was also erratic and weak, could make calls but several were dropped. We enjoyed our stay, we used the free shuttle, it was right on schedule every time. If you are a big rig, don't follow your GPS, use the directions from their web site. We would return. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Nice, quiet campground in the woods. It is not a luxury park. The site we stayed on (305) was uneven, and we couldn't use our awning because of trees. It was shady so we didn't really need it anyway. They have doughnuts and coffee every morning as well as other activities. The bathhouse does not have AC. They do provide a shuttle to the attractions to the park, but we didn't use it. This is a beautiful campground and it provided superb access to the Stone Mountain and the attractions there. Our site (427) was on Loop R which is the furthest away from the offices. Most loops have their own comfort station with toilets and showers and the only problem was the gnats that congregated there. The staff did a wonderful job of cleaning them out several times a day, but they were persistent. Our site was not very level though wonderfully shaded and fairly well isolated from other campers. The roads were pretty rough, but to the staff's credit, the day after an intense storm caused some new potholes a crew was out fixing them and picking up the debris. Excellent job! One caution, the roads in the park are very narrow and there is a lot of bike traffic to watch out for. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We love this campground! We stayed on site 7, which was close to the pool and we had a view of the lake through the trees. A short walk and we could see Stone Mountain. We did the family gold adventure pass for Stone Mountain and it was worth the money. Lunch was included, as well as terrace seating for the laser show (we opted to bring our own chairs and still sit on the lawn, but the free popcorn and drinks were nice). It was peaceful fishing from one of the empty rustic sites and they have lots of ducks in the lake. Be careful of the squirrels: they are very brave and will jump right on your picnic table when you turn your head. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed in the "Purple" premium area across from the pool and play ground on site 145. Each of the premium sites are grass areas with a cooking deck complete with a deluxe Weber gas grill. Sites are spacious, area very clean and well taken care. There is a shuttle running from the campground to the attraction area every 45 minutes, so no vehicle is needed at the park. We did take our toad to the Metro station for the trip to the Braves ball game and again for downtown Atlanta. Don't try to drive! The Metro is fast, clean and the only way to navigate. The Braves shuttle drops you off at the front door of the ball park and picks you up, round trip ticket $4. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed here one night. It was a spur of the moment side trip to see Stone Mt. There is a $10 fee just to enter Stone Mt park. It is Georgia's #1 attraction, thus the fee. The campground is beautifully wooded with many different kinds of sites. We chose #329 which was on the lake. It was a raised gravel site with a beautiful view of the lake below. The restrooms and showers were clean and close by. We had no trouble backing into the site and leveling the coach. Some of the sites have cable TV, ours did not but will in the future. There is lots to do there and one afternoon and evening was not enough time. It was a bit pricey but that is because of the park itself. We plan on returning for a longer stay some other time. This is a state park like campground, but I don't think it is an official state park. The newer section right in front of the entrance is definitely where you need to be with a big rig. The next section "L" is not too bad with big rigs either. There are a variety of hookups available depending on which section you are in. Things do get tight in the older sections with the trees and back-in sites. Nice campground and fire pits are provided. Gets pricey starting in April. Laundry is $2 to wash and $2 to dry. Restrooms have soap and paper towels provided and are maintained throughout the day. This is a Passport America park, but only for the first night. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is the fourth time we stayed at Stone Mountain. As noted in other posts, if traveling in a motorhome, the loops by the office (Trail F and trail E) is best for getting around. The sites on Trail F also have propane grills and wooden decks. A nice surprise on this stay was that the park had cable installed in the loop we were on although I had to go up to the office and request a list of channels that were available. We usually stay in the loop immediately around the office too. The sites there are newer, very level, and have a wooden deck with a provided gas grill (Trail Loop F, around the pool behind the office). Good playground area here too. This time we choose to stay in an older area of the park where we had not stayed for several years. Had some issues with the rough road on Trail Loop R, and getting the 36ft rig backed in was a bit of a challenge due to trees along the road, but it was do-able. Sites in the older areas (on a hill overlooking the lake, great view) tend not to be very level. We were near a bathhouse which was old but clean and very warm (we were here in a snowstorm, and about 20 degree weather). Place is beautiful in the snow, but you won't get out easily due to hills! Biggest surprise during our winter stay was the staff who came out check on us, un-freeze our water spigot, and pick up the trash. Very friendly and polite, workcampers greeted us as soon as we came through the gate. Wi-Fi was exceptional at our site. Stone Mountain Park is beautiful, and it is THE PLACE to bring kids. Not an amusement park with goofy rides, here there are lots of good physical activities for them that are loads of fun. And don't miss the breakfast buffet at the Stone Mountain Inn, great! This was our 3rd stay at this park. In the past I have rated it very low due to the condition of the sites. They were excessively sloped, in poor condition, and the roads were full of pot holes. This stay we managed to secure a site in the newer area closer to the office. The sites were still gravel but the roads are newer as are the hook ups. They were also much more level than the older section. Sadly the older section has not been updated. My rating is based on the newer section I stayed in, which is much smaller than the older section. This park is still in need of a total make over for most of the sites. I would stay here again, but only in the newer section. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Great campground especially if you have a couple of days to enjoy the park. Christmas stuff was in full swing and our kids loved it. Another reviewer refered to this as a "State Park" it is not. We opted for a higher price to have a pull-in site (152) with a great view of the lake (out the windshield) and a (propane supplied) grill on a deck overlooking the lake. We made an EASY side trip into Atlanta to visit the "World of Coca-Cola" and dinner at The Varsity (right on the way to the museum). I would not recommend this for an overnight just because of the extra $10 entrance fee. I hope we will be back, but there are still a lot of other places to see. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We don't normally "do" destination campgrounds, but this was an exception. We went for the Pumpkin Festival in October, and had a great experience. Overall, SMCG is a great family park, lots to do, especially for the kids, dog friendly, picturesque, great water pressure and electric, etc. Even if there's nothing happening there, the mountain is impressive to see. We found the CG fairly wooded. I didn't even try to set up the Dish, but my neighbor said he got DirecTV after a little effort. Do not accept Site 344. We camped here in a 30'TT. I tried leveling my trailer for 1 1/2 hrs then had to move to the most level part of the site where the only place to open my slide put me 15' from hookups. This was one of the longest pullthroughs in the campground, but on a hill. Despite the time consuming set up, we enjoyed the amenities throughout the park. Roads need repaving and most sites are level with the exception of the sites at the end of Trail M Loop. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We have camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground many times. We love the big camping spots, the canopy of shady tress, and being near the lake. This campground is in a rather large state park. If you're in a motorhome, the only entrance you'll make it into is the main entrance on the expressway. Every other way in/out we found had a weight limit or low bridge that we couldn't cross. Just to enter the park, you have to pay a $10 parking fee. Once you register at the campground desk, they give you a pass for unlimited in/out for the duration of your stay, but keep in mind that you're paying $10 for the first time you go in. This campground is designed for families visiting Stone Mountain. We were here for 7 days. It's a little pricey for the amenities available. We've stayed in private campgrounds with better facilities for much less. Roads are badly in need of repaving. Wi-fi works some of the time and is slow. Site was clean but a little difficult to back our 5th wheel into with all the other rigs and cars parked around us. Not a bad place just a little high on the fees. We'll stay outside the park in the future. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We loved the campground and the park and would suggest this park to anyone. For this trip, we requested a lake view site and it was beautiful. Large back-in site that was situated in the trees. At the office, you are able to pick up passes for Stone Mountain Park. Also they have a shuttle from the campground that runs over to the park. They even have one that goes over for the nightly light show (which is a must). This is a beautiful area and there are stores within a mile of the campground if you need groceries. We camped here in a Motorhome.

A good campground for Mountain Acess, however the sites are uneven and not cleaned. Some campers appeared to have moved in, with junk everywhere on their sites. Kids race around in golf carts without supervision. Would stay again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We really enjoyed staying at this campground and plan on returning. Although all the sites can't accommodate a rig our size, we had plenty of choices. There is lots of shade and beautiful views. The proximity to downtown allows easy sight seeing. Be sure to catch the laser show on Stone Mountain. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for a week during AtlantaFest and really enjoyed our visit! We did notice some unlevel sites, but our site was very level and shady. The hosts and employees were very friendly and the campground was neat and clean. The pool was a bit smallish for such a large campground and there are not laundry facilities at each comfort station. We will be back! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

The rate is with a PPA discount which can only be used only for the first day. We came to this park after reading previous reviews and to meet some family in Atlanta. We ended up staying longer when we saw what the park had to offer. When we first arrived and began to hook-up we found the electric not working. A call to the office and a repairman showed up within just a few minutes and fixed the problem. We were in the 400 site numbers and they are not even close to being level. Other RV's had a problem getting leveled up due the the uneven and broken asphalt pads in this area. We enjoyed the park and all they have to offer. The Wi-Fi worked very well in the area we were in. We would camp here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall an excellent park. Our site was plenty big with plenty of shade. The WiFi was flaky, almost unusable. Parking spots are reasonably level, but the rest of the site is not necessarily (i.e., our picnic table and fire ring were about roof-high to our camper). But this is reasonable for a campground in the hills. We will definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

What a great place! The WiFi is iffy and there's no cable, but you get network over the air and you're too busy anyway to watch TV. The place if flat out beautiful and the park is wonderful. We had a great time at the plantation and were really impressed by the job they've done reconstructing a true representation of antebellum life. Loved it and would come back again if in the area. The sculpture is incredible. Go see it. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We camped here with my extended family with 4 sites for 2 nights. I booked the sites far in advance and the girl helped me select the best sites for my family. We camped in 257, 259 and 261 in the yellow section which is listed on the map as pop-up/tent with water electric. Our site wasn't level (257) and we wouldn't pick it again. 261 was very short site. After we got there and got set up we realized that my brother's travel trailer would have been allowed to camp in the tent section with us and site # 258 would have been perfect. That being said, ask if you have questions about the sites before you set up. In this loop you had to hike up a hill to get to the restrooms. We enjoyed camping here and would definitely return again. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

This is a great park! Sites 331, 333, 335, 337 are great sites! We stayed on 337 and the mountain was right behind the motorhome! There are two bath houses in that area; use the newer one. The older one needs to be updated but the laundry connected to the older bath house was fine. If you have kids you will want to stay closer to the pool and sites 91 & 93 are wonderful! Sites 1-92 are nice if you only need 30 amps. I don't advise any pull throughs as they are made a bit strange. This is a highly used park! It's set up has more of a state park feel! Stone Mountain was great. We were 4 adults and enjoyed our stay very much! Take the duck boat ride as the driver will point out other things to see within the compound. I can't wait to go back one day with my grandchildren! We camped here in a Motorhome.

Great place to stay and see Stone Mountain. Has lots of trees. Bathrooms were not really clean when we arrived, but were clean the next day. Park has lots of use, so it's hard to keep clean, according to the work camper. Stayed 6 nights, but would have loved to have stayed longer. Would come here again if I could go any other way, but through Atlanta. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This campground is really beautiful. That said, it's really expensive. You pay $10.00 to get into the park, then some sites are $50.00. I have PPA, and stayed one night on the O-loop so it was $18.50 (half price with PPA). I did ask for a site for the satellite and it worked here. My cellphones work too. The WiFi signal is excellent, but oddly quite slow at times. I doubt I'll stay here again, just because of the price. I stayed here to take my diesel truck to Lead Foot in Loganville: they are great if you have a diesel that needs repair. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Great location and plenty to do for kids. Convenient to downtown Atlanta. The staff was super. We paid extra for a lake view that came with a nice deck with an excellent gas grill. They are very expensive and would have given a ten except for the price and lack of cable TV. They are up-grading the sites and adding many more sites. Would stay again but would choose a less expensive site. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Beautiful park! We ended up here from a terrible experience from another park. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The price is approximate. This is the only reason I didn't give them a 10. I think it may be a little too high. We had one of the best spots there. We were on the lake and had a nice view of Stone Mountain. You pay more for sites on the lake. The camp sites are roomy, the pool was nice and you can purchase tickets to the activities over at Stone Mountain for a very reasonable price, about $28 a person. Overall, very peaceful and quiet. Would love to return again for about a week of relaxation. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here in April in a 31' class C. We camped at site #157. The site was fairly level and was gravel. There was a stainless steel gas grill at our site we could use for grilling. The sites were well spaced out on the canopy side of the RV's. The road was dirt/gravel as well. There is a giant field in the middle of the campground for people to play sports or just hang out. The children's playground was newer and well maintained. There was a swimming pool as well that looked well kept, although when we went it was still too cold to swim. The park has a shuttle buss that runs back and forth to attractions at Stone Mountain Park and the campground itself and usually runs about every 30 minutes or so. The restrooms were clean and there was daily trash pickup by the park staff right in front of your vehicle. We camped here in a Motorhome.

I agree with the previous review that the roads are miserable. However I had no trouble at all getting my fiver and truck (53 foot overall)in a pull through. Agree that the price is too high for what you get, but the park is in a beautiful country setting with sites right on the lake. Also it is convenient to Atlanta. If there don't miss the Confederate Memorial on Stone Mountain. All things considered, I would return. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

The nicest thing about this park was the staff. The roads are in major need of repair. The roads were narrow, cracked, broken, bumpy and had potholes. I really needed my coach to have 4 wheel drive. It was uphill and UNLEVEL. I was told we could use our sat TV and we could not. The bathrooms were either old or not clean I couldn't tell. For a $40 a night price it ranks with a resort and resorts have cable TV and this park did not. I did not see any pull throughs that would accommodate a big rig. This is a terrible park and we will not be back. We camped here in a Motorhome.

A nice, quiet place and not at all crowded when we were here. The campground staff was friendly and unobtrusive. There was plenty of room to walk our dogs. The manager selected our site (431A) so that we could get in easily, but it was situated in a way that made it difficult to back in without tearing up the landscaping across the access road. The site was set up backwards. We felt the price was too high, but we didn't make use of the Park's entertainment facilities and might have felt differently if we had. Each site in the area open in the winter had a gas grill and deck near the lake. During season this would be a great place to go with a nice looking pool, small store and all the Stone Mountain attractions nearby. However, in the winter it is overpriced for what you get. We were told bathrooms were heated but, they weren't heated for our comfort maybe 40 Degrees tops. At $40 a night off season they could splurge and have a heated bathroom. Staff was friendly and helpful. Seemed safe and secure since anyone entering the park had to pay $10. Nice park and we would return in better weather. We camped here in a Motorhome.

NOTE: There is a $10 entry fee to get into this park, before you can camp here. The fee is separate from the campsite fee. This is a large, very clean state park with several attractions. It was very nicely decorated over the Christmas holidays. The park is well maintained, the staff very friendly. No cable TV and the Wi-Fi was sporadic at best. Lots of places to walk around. Sites are gravel, pretty level, well shaded and each site has a picnic table. There is a large lake nearby. They do not honor Good Sams, but Passport American discount can be used for the first night. We have been here twice. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed here two nights the weekend before Christmas. The park was not crowded, and the Stone Mountain Village was nicely decorated for the holiday. The campground is large with several loops. Some of the sites were very level, but there were some that were not. We noticed one near the bathhouse near the 400 loop, that was at an severe downhill angle. The staff was very helpful on the phone before our arrival by telling us which lots were "Grade A" level lots and which were not. The roads into the camp group were okay, but there were a few potholes on a couple of the loops: nothing too bad. The bathrooms were kept very clean and warm with ample hot water and water pressure. The only complaint I had about our reserved site is that it was so close to the road that we could not open our awning. When you stepped out of the door, you were standing on the road through the 400 loop. It would have been a consideration if we would have had small children. There were several sites that we noticed would not allow room for the opening of an awning, so I also suggest you ask about it when registering. Stone mountain has a decent amount of short trails for hiking, and you can hike to the top of the mountain. There is a very nice buffet style restaurant at the park inn. It was a nice place for a short stay. Most of the campground was also nicely shaded with enough space between the sites to keep it from looking like parking spaces. The campground still has a "woodsy" feel to it. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is the second year in a row that we have stayed here. The first thing we encountered was there was so much leaf debris on the site, we couldn't find the pad. After we swept off the pad it was extremely out of level, side to side. If you are in a TT or 5ver you may need lots of blocks to get level. The pads and roads are cracked, potholed and in poor shape. When we were leaving and we tried to dump, the sewer over flowed and backed up. When we arrived the campground was nearly empty. When we left it was nearly full and the sewer was easily overwhelmed. On several sites water was backing up and flowing across the road. It is apparent that little to no money that the campground generates is being but back into the park. It has the possibility of being a top notch park, but it will take an influx of cash to bring it back. We paid an employee rate, bit even at that price it was difficult to deal with. I would look around the area before I came back here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed at this park at the same site last year and had a great time. This year we were very unhappy to find that park employees are feeding feral cats at the bathroom and laundry area which is creating a nuisance and potential health hazard. I complained about it and was laughed at. We will not consider staying here again if this practice continues. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed in site number 351 on Labor Day Weekend. Although the campground was full weeks ahead, by calling twice a day a couple of weeks before Labor Day, we were able to acquire a canceled spot. We liked daily trash pick-up at site. Wi-Fi actually works at site. Although there is no cable TV access, we were able to pick up several Georgia PBS stations via antenna and were pleased with the offerings. Nice pool. Free shuttle access to Stone Mountain Park attractions and a discounted 2-day admission to all attractions (except the duck tour) were available in the camp office. A one-time $10 entry fee to the park is required. Attractions include a ropes course, an antebellum plantation, a 4-D movie, mini-golf,a paddle wheel boat, a train ride, museums, a sky lift up the mountain, and the most awesome laser and fireworks show ever! We paid $105 tax included for the 2-day pass for a family of four. Only takes about 30 to 40 minutes to get to downtown Atlanta. We visited both IKEA and a Braves game with no problem. This park is very conducive to walking/biking. Some sites are tight and/or not level, others appear to be more roomy and flat. There are a few pull-through sites, but they appear to be very unlevel or too close to the road. We look forward to staying here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We were very disappointed in this park. The staff was friendly and helpful but that does not make up for the campground. The loop roads were narrow, full of potholes, and many tight turns. The sites were small and close together, some having very little space around the camper. Our site was level front to back, but very unlevel side to side - this was surprising as the site was blacktopped. The site and campground (Loop M) was clean, but the bathhouse was not. One of the toilets was running for the three nights we were there and there was an elastic hair band in the shower for the same amount of time. It was too much money ($40 a night) for what you get. Perhaps the biggest problem is that the campground is not designed for rain. While we do not mind the rain, staying in a campground that becomes a gully in raining weather is not to be desired. We were unable to be outside when it was not raining as our site became a giant mud puddle with debris from up the hill. This might be convenient if you want to spend time in the park, but we won’t be staying there again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This campground has exceptional amenities for a state park. The customer service was great. Our shady campsite had a beautiful view of the lake and Stone Mountain. The laser light show was fun, and we loved the fireworks. You could even see some of the fireworks from the campsite. The RV slots were cramped, and some of the pull-throughs were such tight arcs that a big rig had no chance. Fortunately, they have competent staff that will help you back in to a tight spot. Many sites have no sewer hook-up. The ones that do have been reserved so far in advance you can’t get them. We did not stay in Loop F (mentioned in other reviews) because it was crammed full. The slots in other Loops are tighter and not very level. The roads are full of potholes. The other Loops are much more scenic and private than Loop F, so it’s a trade-off. The different bath houses varied in quality (we couldn’t get hot water at one) but were clean. My sister won’t eat at Wendy’s, because she can’t figure out which menu items are standard and which cost extra. I felt like that about the attractions at the theme park adjacent to the Stone Mountain campground. It was not clear what was included in the price and what was extra. The extras were *expensive*. The only simple solution was to buy an expensive, two-day pass to everything (one day was not an option). We did love the Sky Hike (a ropes course attraction) and the Sky Ride up the mountain. We stayed in Loop F which was a wonderful loop. Each site had a deck and a gas grill. Most of the sites throughout the park are shaded. However, several of the sites in the campground are not level. The infrastructure of the park needs work. The roads need repaving and several of the sites need leveling. Staff was friendly and the pool was great. If you can visit in advance and drive through the park and make a list of sites you would like to try to reserve, you would probably be better off than trying to reserve sight unseen. We've been here many times before, and it's still a great vacation. It does look like overall tourism is down at SMP (like everywhere else I guess) but the campground is good and the park is great. We stayed in the premium sites ("Trail F") around the pool and office, and the wooden deck eating area with the stainless steel gas grill was GREAT! Don't be surprised if some of the amenities of the park you like are reduced: the shuttles or water taxi services don't run quite as often, but the park is still great and the lasershow is spectacular again this year!!! GREAT place for kids, no "rides" but many physical challenges like ropes courses, rock climbing walls, and play areas. Really gets them moving, and they loved it... We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is not the place to go if you're looking for space between neighbors or to get back to nature. Most sites were right on top of one another, with little or no vegetation as a buffer. Our site (and others around us) were eroded and essentially dirt lots perched on the side of a hill. Our fire ring was built on the remains of a busted up asphalt parking pad. On the plus side, the lake and amenities at the park are nice, the bathrooms were clean and spacious, and the pool and playground area was nice too. Friendly staff. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

This is a nice, woodsy park. Our site was a little tough to handle due to the narrow roads, but we managed to get 'er in. If you want to spend a few more bucks, they have some really nice sites on the "upper level" of the park (we were down the hill). Each of the high-end sites has a wood deck with a stainless-steel gas grill; this area also has a new restroom/shower facility. We would stay there again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We were not particularly pleased with this park. For the price that you pay--and we did upgrade to one of the new sites with the deck and gas grill--we didn't feel that the park was managed very well. It is a big park. You could ask the same question to different people and get totally different answers. The transportation around the facility is not good. We enjoyed visiting the mountain. We did not appreciate kids running wildly through our campsite and peering in our windows. WIFI worked fine at our site. The site was very dirty when we checked in. The "brand new" gas grill had not been cleaned and there were beer cans all over the deck. We will not be returning to this campground, nor will I recommend it. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Absolutely beautiful park very scenic and lots of shaded areas. April is cool in Georgia so you will need a jacket but the park cannot do anything about that. The people working there were very nice and helpful. I suggest getting a site with a sewer because the roads are tight and it takes sometime to get into the spots. Bring lots of cribbing for your trailer most sites are uneven. Although it is tight there were buses in there so don't be scared. Highly recommend this park. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This campground is in the park so the first thing you'll do when you get there is pay your $8 parking fee which you won't have to pay again. We were in site 342 which was very hard to get parked in. We had to back in blindsided up a hill, (but managed to do it without a fight! :) Once we got the camper parked we found that the site was very unlevel. Once we got in and settled though I was very pleased. Some of the sites don't have much of a yard at all, but ours was pretty big with a great view of the lake and the mountain. We walked the campground to see what the rest of it was like and when we return we will definitely try to get into Loop F which is close to the office. Those sites are all level and big enough for our camper. They're also right next to the pool and playground which is a plus when you have kids. We had a great time at the park and were able to come back to the campsite for lunch with no problems. Very relaxing and peaceful environment. I also liked that it had that good ole outdoorsey camping feeling to it. Not like a resort but close enough to all the attractions. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

They are updating many things and have added golf cart and boat rentals, however, you can only use the golf carts in the campground. Staff terrific as usual. It was a very busy time during spring break. We always stay in Loop F right in front of the store which seems the nicest because of the view and decks with gas grills and the pool and playground and open grass area in the circle. The spots are pretty close together. My only complaint was the laundry facilities. One of the 3 laundry locations was closed and not noted anywhere but when you get there, it is locked. The other two all had one dryer out of order and more washers than dryers anyway so it took hours, literally, to do 2 loads of laundry as with the dryers that were working took two 45 minute cycles to dry. The campground was close to capacity though. Next time I will find somewhere outside the gates than the hassle of trying to use what is there, however, they are upgrading many things so could be better soon. Overall this is a great campground if you have children. Lots and lots of kids there to play with and the other activiites around the mountain plus hiking and exploring. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a huge FAMILY oriented park located inside the Stone Mountain Park. We stayed two nights in a level, full hookup, lakeside, PULL-IN site that turned to mud in the rain. We are an older couple. This park had kids everywhere: scooters, bikes, skateboards, soccer balls, you name it. Way to busy for us. Worse still, at night, everybody had camp fires. Between the inversion layer and the propensity to burn wet wood, the air was so thick with smoke I was choking the whole two days we stayed there. Generally, a park in this good a condition with these nice facilities and amenities would rate higher with us. However, we thought this place sucked. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is one of our regular favorite campgrounds. When we just want to camp for the weekend, Stone Mountain is our spot. We live less than an hour away and it's our camping home away from home. Like other campgrounds, it does have some sites that are better than the other. We stayed in the 330's and they can be a tight squeeze, but we just reserved the spot two days before we got here. We were able to rent a golf cart for $35/night, which apparently was a weekend special because it was normally $75 per night. I would strongly suggest staying around 413 (pull-through) or 409, 410 or if possible (and it can be tough) or favorite sites are either in the loop in front of the office/camp store or on a site off of the lake. There are always a ton of things to do at Stone Mountain, from golf, to the park mountain hike, a train goes around the park and the mountain village with all sorts of activities. If you plan to visit often, like we do you are better off becoming Mountain members that gets you discounts on the campground and pays for itself if you come at least twice. This is a great place to stay when visiting in the area -- when you won't be there much. Sites are too close together to spend much time outside your rig. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. Sites range from absolutely flat to very lumpy or sloped. Some sites appear to be paved with concrete, others with crushed gravel. On a busy Friday, there was only one person checking people in -- not enough for the crowd coming in. Even in February, reservations would be wise for the weekend to get the area you want. There are many family-oriented activities in the park and packages are offered. There is a nice woodsy feel, and I'm sure it's even better when the trees have leaves on them. However, there may be a problem with pine pitch dropping in warmer weather. The $35 rate is for a non-premium full hook-up site. There is free WiFi but it slowed down and ground to a halt as more users got on. Did not check out the restrooms and showers although they are conveniently located in each loop. Stayed over Christmas. We arrived late after the office closed. The site I registered for didn't seem to match up at the actual site as they were building new sites. We pulled in the one we thought was our site but the hook-ups were on the wrong side. The water didn't work. Next day we were told to go to a new site. It was down hill and it rained most of the week and the Georgia red mud slid down the hill and accumulated around our site. We brought our own golf cart and had fun driving around. It was a very nice campground and everyone was nice. The only downside is that check-in is unorganized and the sites don't match up on the map they give you or that you register for, some of the sites seem to have electric on the wrong side and satellite absolutely does not work because of the dense trees. If you can be patient with the check-in process, it's a nice campground. I'll visit again sometime. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We paid $8.00 to enter park and then $35.00 for our campsite. Directed to a site that was very unlevel, picnic table about 30 degrees off level. Drove back to the office thinking that we might need 4 wheel drive to get through some of the unmaintained roads. We were given a premium sire on the circle in front of the office with a wooden deck. This would have been a nice if it was level and not a mud hole. We just stayed overnight. Park needs upgrades to get it back to what it was years ago. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We live in SC and never see snow. We decided to camp at Stone Mountain and go to their Snow Mountain to let our kids play. The campground is very narrow and the sites are very unlevel. They offer a package deal with passes to Snow Mountain, firewood, and a Smores kit. There was a fire ban that they forgot to tell us about and there were no campfires allowed. If I had known that, I would have camped some place else. The camp store closes at all times. It was closed at 4:45 on a Saturday. Snow Mountain is in the same park and it was a disappointment. The snow was hard packed ice. They give you times to slide down the hill but you will spend most of it waiting in line. The food is ridiculously overpriced. I spent $40 on three hamburgers that were the size of a kid's meal. In fact the kid's meal burgers were the same size as adults. We were very disappointed and probably won't be back. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Stone Mountain and the area around it is beautiful. However, campground has gotten old and dated. The only sites to choose here are the ones right in front of the office and I will go one step further the ones that back up to the lake. I say the lake, since these sites were the most level and had best drainage. Forget the sites not in front of the office, which includes pull-thrus. They are the most unlevel sites I have ever seen. I tried parking on two different pull thrus and could not get level. Roads in this area are very narrow, your mud flap will drag, etc. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Campground is old and the interior roads full of holes and bumps. a lot of the sites are small and weird shapes for larger RVs. Staff is helpful but some are not very RV literate. Park can't be beat for location in and around Atlanta. The pickings are very few. Campground is showing wear and tear and needs some improvements. Roads are in HORRIBLE condition. Sites are not very level. It took every last block before I could get even close to level. This is our second stay here and had 3 different sites; all where a chore to get level. Wi-Fi was just bad. It didn't work 90% of the time we were there. Seems like they would reset it, and it worked for a couple of hours. We camped directly behind one of the Wi-Fi antennas. Camp wood was way over priced and wet. You're better off getting firewood elsewhere. There was some sort of goop on our site and I had to spend 20 minutes cleaning it off. We have camped here two years in a row. The sites are larger and much shadier and more scenic than most RV parks. The sites are not level and there are many different elevations, but our elevation gave us a view of the lake even though we were three sites away. Some maintenance work is needed: the door to the ladies's room was in bad shape, the shower curtain needed to be replaced, and the electrical box on our site was askew. Many bugs on the floor indicated that the restroom area had not been swept in a while. But on the whole we enjoyed our stay. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We were in Loop F right across from the children's playground and pool and a few doors down from bath facilities. This is a great campground and excellent for those with children. We have young boys and could easily peek out the windows at them playing on the playground. My 4 year old had a blast riding his bike around. Everyone there was incredibly friendly and the store was decently stocked. Stone Mountain activities were also a lot of fun and we did purchase a special that included tickets for the attractions but liked it so much they allowed us to get credit towards an annual pass. The campsites are a bit small but in Loop F all come with a deck that has a table and a beautiful, expensive gas grill, with the gas bottle included. In fact, their service was so great there they had a recall on their old BBQs and took them away one day and so we went and asked why and the very next day we got the new one... they were putting them together as fast as they could. They also have church services on Sundays in the pavilion and have coffee and donuts every morning that we were there, out for the campers. They collect the garbage in front of your spot daily and have trash cans all around the park. The entire park was spotless including the baths and showers and the surroundings were beautiful and while they don't have cable and because there are trees everywhere those with satellite really can't get service, our TV antenna worked great. They also have a big screen at the open pavilion. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We really enjoyed the park. Lots of activities for the kids (bingo, ice cream making) and continental breakfast at the pavillion in the mornings. I do have to agree with other reviews that the roads to the sites are not the best but the site was roomy. The sites for larger RV are much better than the sites for smaller units. Being that it was the summer all the park acitivities were open including the water taxi, even though only during the weekend. Unlike in the winter, which the park is only open for the Snow Mountain event, the office / store is open all day. I have Verizon and had no problem getting bars. I have DirecTV and also was able to get cable. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Huge sites. Convenient to park. We didn't get much out of the park (my kids like more action). Gas barbecues and wooden decks for each camper (at least near the pool where we were). The sites were recently spruced up but were still kind of barren. You backed up to a row of trees but each rig stuck out without any shade. The bathrooms from 5P to 7/A the next day had not been cleaned, but were not terrible. Highly recommend the light show and fireworks. Free, nightly at the main park. Kids loved it. It is a nice park but when I made my reservation I told them I had a motor home. When I got there I found that I was assigned to a small, back-in plot that was so steep that my refrigerator would not work and my wife complained that walking up hill to get from the bedroom to the kitchen was not the way she wanted to get her exercise. The next morning I was able to get moved to another location. It was another back-in location but was nice and level. I hooked up and tried to drain my gray water tank. That's when I found out that the sewer connection to my site was clogged. I reported it immediately and was told that it would be taken care of. Each of the 3 days that I was at the site I reported this problem. Each day I was assured that it would be taken care of. It still wasn't fixed when we pulled out. The activities are great, and the people are friendly. The sites are a bit small and I was very glad that I didn't have anything bigger than 37'. It appears that infrastructure is not getting the maintenance it needs. We would visit this park again but not during a peak period and would be certain to be able to leave if adequate facilities were not provided. We camped here in a Motorhome.

There is a beautiful lake and lots to do in this resort setting. We have stayed here before and each time find it is well-maintained. Our site was on a hill and it took all the wood we had to level the trailer. The loop looked across the lake so it was well worth it. We used the boat cruise to go across the lake to dinner and the laser light show. The only disappointment each time is we have not been pleased with the restaurant food. We hiked to the top of Stone Mountain which was great exercise and a beautiful view. The showers and bathrooms were clean. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice campground, first time we visited. Would have given it a 10 except the roads in the campground need a little work. The campground is very wooded and the trees are causing the road to buckle in several places. Roads are definitely doable, but do watch and go slow in areas. For the casual bike rider, leave the bicycles at home, the roads are hilly. Campground offered scheduled activities for the kids, but the Stone Mountain Park had so much to do that we didn't have a free minute to get to it all. Location, location, location! They do have full hook-ups but it is a very busy place. They sell an attraction ticket that is worth the price if you are staying for at least two days. The convenience is worth the price of the campground and they do have a water taxi that will take you over to the marina for the laser show. That seems to be the best way to get to the show because of the parking. It's just a short walk "up" and all downhill after the show! This is one of our favs; well run, clean, and the "perks" are great. We stay here and use the free "water taxi" or Marriott shuttle bus over to the park, no toad needed! The pool is cool and clean. There is a nice little store and planned activities for kids, too. They let us pitch a kids tent next to the MH at no extra charge- up to 6 persons per site. Some of the spots are not level so just bring some extra levelers or boards. Even the worst are not sloped too bad - and the ones that are have a great view of the lake. The premium spaces around the pool (Row F) are the best (wood patios!) but go fast so make a reservation. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is the regular rate but we also got one night at half price with Passport America. This is a pretty park and depending on the site you have, some are much better than others based on previous reviews. The staff was very friendly and the camp store is very complete. We chose a site with only w/e and were assigned a pull thru in the P loop. There was a very steep downhill grade to get to that loop. We were not on the lake side, but had a nice view of the mountain. The sites were not level and our friends traveling with us had to move to a different site because they could not get level. The first night we were the only two in that loop which was very nice. On Friday night it filled up more. There are laundry facilities spread out in some of the bath facilities. The one I used was OK but not great. The roads in and out of the loops had some major potholes in them. We were concerned about getting out with the motorhome but actually it was rougher in the truck than in the coach. There is a one time fee to enter Stone Mountain. We could not get a Wi-Fi signal in our site because of all the trees but there was a good one in front of the office. I would stay here again but I would choose a full hookup site the next time. This is a beautiful park and extremely convenient for viewing the attractions at Stone Mountain. The staff was pleasant and very helpful. The park is well maintained. A 50% Passport America discount is available for the first day's stay. The commercial, for a fee, WIFI did not work at our site and even the staff reported problems with the system. Free WIFI is available at the pavilion next to the campground office. Some of the turns are tight for really big rigs and the slopes on the paved roads are starting to show the effects of heavy vehicles. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We really enjoyed this park. I can see why some folks may have given a lower score on this park as there are several different sections. We stayed in the "F Loop" which is the nicest section (more expense but worth it). The sites in the F Loop all have new wooden decks with railings and a new high end - 3 burner gas grill. Water pressure is a bit high at 70psi but water tasted pretty good. Electric good. I was told free Wi-Fi is available at the pavilion (didn't try it), but a fee based Wi-Fi is available at your site. Sites close to the pavilion can get free Wi-Fi. Staff was VERY friendly and helpful. Super clean baths. The Stone Mountain park is very nice. I walked around and checked out the other sections and they are not level and some have drop-off etc. If you have a small rig and want to ruff it, then go for it. We will return for sure. Quite nice overall, but as another reviewer said, some of the sites are not level, and because many sites are carved out of a slope, you have to be extra careful blocking your trailer, to make certain it doesn't end up in the lake. Nice and quiet in the evenings. The park is maybe 30-40 minutes from downtown Atlanta. WiFi is not free; I paid $20 for one week of WiFi usage, and then often didn't get a strong enough signal. However, our site was on the outermost edge of the campground, and whenever I absolutely needed Internet I was able to take my laptop to the office/pavilion area, where the signal was very strong. This is definitely a destination resort. You would come here for all the attractions within the park, not just for the campground. This is a wooded campground, so with that comes, no satellite reception, roots making roads unlevel in places, and some tight campsites. It is mountainous, so some campgrounds are unlevel, ours leveled with the hyro jacks, but many would be more suited for smaller units. The staff were very helpful, I think they would let you change sites. The bath houses were clean, modern, and well ventilated. I would have gave it a 10 if it had free Wi-Fi and cable TV. This was our first campsite in our new RV. The site was fairly level and the jacks were able to auto level without any wheels off the ground or blinking error lights. The power, water, and sewer was clean and easily accessible. The staff was friendly and we found lots of peace and quiet at our site. I would recommend this to other campers. The only down side of the park is the water taxi/shuttle to Stone Mountain Park only runs on Saturdays, during non peak times. This might be a bummer for people camping here during the week without a tow vehicle. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We camped here in a 37 footer. Very helpful staff. Wi-Fi pay only and very expensive, considering the cost of the site. We were fortunate to arrive when the site was empty after a busy weekend. We were able to choose a site. Many would have been unsuitable for our trailer as most of the pull throughs were on very steep slopes, very uneven and tricky to get into. We chose a back in site which had plenty of room. Very pleasant, well kept campground in a beautiful location around Stone Mountain and Lake. Restrooms were well used, but clean even after a busy weekend. Reservations are absolutely essential at this campground, particularly at weekends and if you wish to reserve a particular site. We had an excellent time at this campground. Full of amenities and fun. My daughter fished at our beautiful site #194 right on the lake. There were lots of families here and the staff was super friendly and helpful. The only drawback was the pavilion across from our site at the Marriott Evergreen Resort had been reserved for an outdoor party that went on until late the night of our arrival. Loud music and a very loud DJ until after 11:30 when the police finally asked them to quiet down. This was beyond the power of the campground though. Be advised that the water taxi that takes you over to the laser light show at the main park is a very unreliable service. If you have the ability to drive yourself to the main park, I would do so. The water taxi shows up whenever and stops for the night, even if there are people still waiting to get back to the campground. Also it is a long walk from where they drop you off to the actual park. There are NO signs directing you back to the taxi from the park. And good luck getting a worker to give you directions. Beyond those two complaints, this was a wonderful family oriented campground with very friendly employees in a beautiful setting. I would, without a doubt, stay at his wonderful family campground again. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

This was like our 4th stay at this campground, not so much because we like it, but because we can visit family in the Atlanta area on the eastern side of the city. It is the most convenient CG for us. The real problem with this CG is; that when people come to visit us at our site, they have to pay $8.00 to get into the park as that is their daily rate to visit. When camping there you get a pass for your own car, but you have to pay the $8.00 to get into the park in your campground. Be careful going into the park, we had about 3 inches on each side of the mirrors navigating the gate. The WiFi appeared to be ok, but we did not use it because it was not free. The park was loaded with kids. If you don't like the sounds of little girls screaming and little boys yelling till about midnight, stay away from the main loop in front of the office, but if you are in a big rig, you might want to put up with the noise and take the nicer, bigger, easier to navigate lots. We had no problem with this campground..the sites might have been a little tight getting into but I've seen worse. We stayed in Trail M with the Lake view and loved it. Lot's and lots of shady! Very nice! I can see where someone with kids might be afraid, you would have to keep a constant watch on them but people with kids were all around us and they didn't seem to have any problems. I love this park. My wife loves this park. We will be back for sure. The site we had was nice and was close to level. We were close to the pool, but I think I would have rather been close to the lake. The only thing I found that I disliked was the wireless internet. It was not a very strong signal in the spot where we were even though we asked for a spot with wifi. It worked well enough to pay to sign up and then did not work well enough to really use it. I do not hold this against the park though. The bathrooms where very clean as were the showers. The camp host greeted us as we arrived after hours. He was very friendly and helpful. There is a great camp store on property. They also offer donuts under the pavilion in the morning (before 9am.) Nice park, great location with plenty to do in the park. As others have stated be ready to use extreme measures to level your rig. Loop F is a pretty safe bet for beginners and families with small children. We took a drive around the other loops and would have been concerned for my children's (Ages 10,7,2)safety on some of the sites on the M or N loops. I have never seen big rigs with both back wheels 6 inches off the ground. Granted some of these sites had better views of the lake, but looked to be for the more seasoned folks. While the staff was friendly, this appears to be an old outdated park at best. Don't forget to tack on the Stone Mountain Park entry fee, that the campground will not tell you about. Yes, you must pay the fee to reach the park. Unless you are lucky, be prepared for a very extremely unlevel site at best. In fact, you may have to bring lots of wood blocks to stack your camper up on. The locals have long since reserved the level sites. Sites are paved, but the pavement has long since broken up into rubble. The sites are not particularly private. The only thing good about this campground is being in the Stone Mountain Recreation area. We would never stay here again. We camped here in a Truck Camper.

This was our second visit, and it was a little better than the first one. We last camped here in the "off" season and one of our biggest complaints was the large number of employees driving everywhere on golf carts. No problems there this time. The sites in general are unlevel, and that needs to be addressed. Our site this time was not overly difficult to level or get into, so no big complaint. Our grill fell apart, as the stand rusted through, so we "borrowed" the one from the site next door. Overall, the park is kept up very well, but it is still very expensive. We had a great time. Our site was small with a drop off on two sides. Not much room for the car. We spent most of our time there out in the park, seeing the sights and letting the kids play. We had no neighbors till the last night so it was real quite. If you are going there for the park and it's activities then I would say go and have a great time. If you are going for the campground well it leaves a little to be desired. My site was somewhat level. The site across from us had his tires about 18" off the ground and the hitch was about 6" off the ground. It was scary to watch them go in and out. some sites were very tight and no where near level. I don't know that we will go back any time soon. It was not a bad experience just now that we have been there done that I want to try new places. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Plenty to do here, but there are some things about the park that need fixed up. First of all unless you get near the office you are stuck in really tight places to park and turn in. I visit here and keep going back to visit my daughter who lives in the area. I would not make a trip here, unless it was accompanied with something like one of the major festivals (Chili cook-off) or another good reason to go. We camped here in a Motorhome.

I have stayed here several times. This park campground has great assets and great faults. The campground is WAY overdue for some serious maintenance. It was obviously constructed many years ago and most sites are ill suited for today's bigger campers. Some campsites are very good and others horrible. The camp office staff seems full of employees who assign sites with little knowledge of what campers need to set up their rigs. If they won't make-over the roads and campsites then staff should inventory their sites and redo the reservation system to supply a more tailored assignment to the rig to be camping there. On the positive, it is one of the very few camping sites available near Atlanta and has a lot of wonderful qualities. I don't care for all the 'glitz' but enjoy the trails, woods and lake. If you camp here, it is best to know the campground and make your reservations for a year in advance to get the site you know will work for your rig We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Very nice park with plenty of shade. Office staff helped me park, some pull throughs are close to the road and I couldn't put my awning up. Fantastic place for families, the park has much to offer for outdoor activities, fireworks and laser shows on weekends. We love to stay here. Make sure you have 8 dollars cash to get in the main gate. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

I think it is pricy at $40 a site plus $8 more just to get thru the main gate. Then another $22 each to tour the attractions. They have no cable and some Atlanta reception on the antenna. A site in the 140's may get satellite reception.The pool was wonderful and camp store complete.. The office staff were great and very helpful.The traffic never stops including all the grounds staff on golf carts [going somewhere important I guess]. My site was rough gravel/holes and very unlevel. It could have used some of the folks on the golf carts with shovels and rakes. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Spent 5 nights with grandchildren here. Bought Mountain Pass(12 months) for park attractions. That way we didn't have to see everything in one or two days. Kids loved Treehouse, obstacle course, and Big Barn. Also 4-d theater was a big hit! All staff was friendly. Had a storm come through on 4th but was cleaned up in a couple of days. Trees down everywhere in campground. Several campers totaled but no injuries. Ours got a tree limb through roof. Rustic campground. Some have cement pads but most do not. We had site 351 and had plenty of room. Pretty good local programming with antenna. We will definitely return. Not too far from Turner Field. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Level, if short, spot on loop F. Most people seemed to think that was the entrance road so we got all kinds of traffic day and night. Area around site flooded with a minor rain. Kids 'employees' running all over with golf carts. Sewer connections at the BACK of the lot. Ants had taken over the site. I wouldn't go back here on a dare. Try this, taxi service starts at 10 am. HOWEVER shuttle service on the other side doesn't start until 12. Laser show ends at 10:30ish. Last shuttle runs at 8 pm and Taxi leaves '' after laser show''. Some serious managment problems here. Every employee was polite , no fault there. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Roads and sites in some areas of campground are narrow with lots of trees and difficult for large motorhomes. Would recommend area directly behind office for motorhomes. Campsites are rustic with those close to the lake having no sewer hookups. Amenities at Stone Mountain are perfect for families with two golf courses on property. Obviously many people like this campground while others don't. We're part of the others. We made a reservation 2 months in advance because we would be in the area on a weekend and knew it would be crowded. They assign a spot at that time, and since we had no idea what to choose we just took the recommendation of the reservationist. The area is really pretty, mostly heavily wooded and sits right on a lake, but the CG itself just seemed messy. The roads are paved but have lots of holes and uneven surfaces. We stayed in the M Loop, and it was so packed that there were numerous vehicles sticking out in the road making it very difficult to maneuver. People were walking and standing in the street and made no effort to move over to give us room to get by. Some sites are paved, but ours was dirt. It was a bit difficult to back into because it was on a curve and uphill. It was also extremely unlevel, but by moving the motor home around on the spot and using blocks we were finally able to get it adjusted after almost an hour. One couple that walked by told us they had tried to stay in the spot a few weeks earlier and never could get level. We would have asked for another site, but they were full. Also when we were setting up, another motor home pulled up and they said they had been assigned the spot. I explained how long we had had the reservation so he went back to the office for another spot. (When we had arrived the check in line was very long, and only one young lady was working in the office, so I'm sure mistakes were happening.) The restrooms were dirty, and a shower drain was backed up the whole time we were there. We could not get WiFi at our spot. The rest of the stay was not so bad. The view of the lake was nice, and the good news is almost everyone left by Sunday afternoon making it much more peaceful and relaxing. We did enjoy seeing Stone Mountain and all of its attractions. We would stay here again if we could get a better site. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We really enjoyed the Stone Mountain Campground. Even though it was almost completely full, it was very quiet and pleasant. Some of the sites have fairly steep drop-offs (around 4-6 feet) down to the lower sites below, so be careful if you have small children. Luckily, our site was one of the lower ones. Didn't get any satellite TV signal due to the lush tree foliage, but it was a welcome trade-off that isn't worth complaining about. Some of the sites also have concrete pads -- ask for one of those if you can. There's a lot to see and do at the Park itself, especially for the little ones. The two-day pass is definitely worth it. Our stay was made more enjoyable by a couple of great neighbors, whom we met around the fire one of the nights, and the lasershow/fireworks were a big hit with the kids as well. We certainly plan on coming back soon, perhaps for one of the special event weekends later this summer. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We camped here over Easter weekend (2006) and had a great time. We were in site 161 right across from the pool, playground, and sand volleyball lot. The sites in this loop (140-168) are very small and most have little shade, but they all appeared to be pretty level. (This was a very level loop, but other loops appeared to be more hilly.) One draw back was the steep drop-off on the back of our site. (I did not walk around the campground, so I can't comment on other sites.) Our site had full hookups and we didn't experience any problem with the sewer. My kids (3, 7, and 10) loved the sand volleyball lot and the large grassy area for playing. Plus, there were lots of other kids for pickup volleyball and kickball games. The bathhouse in this loop was one of the cleanest we've ever seen with large showers that had a separate area for dressing, etc. Also, the staff was very friendly and helpful. They had an Easter egg hunt for the kids and free coffee/donuts in the morning on the weekend days. There is plenty to do at the Park. Also, we hiked up the mountain, rode the skylift, rode the train, watched the laser show, went to the 4D theatre, played in the Great Barn and the Treehouse. The only drawback to all the activities is that they are expensive. (This campground does have a good deal where you can buy an all inclusive wristband and get two days for the price of one.) One word of caution, don't speed in the park. The speed limit in the Park is 30 mph and it is strictly enforced. We saw numerous people pulled over by the Park police. Overall, we had a great experience. The only drawback (and it is entirely dependent on your point of view) is that Stone Mountain Park is in a very city/suburban area (a Super Wal-Mart and Super Target are less then 5 minutes away). It kind of lacks the "getting away" from it all feeling. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Only complaint was there was not any cable TV. Satellite dish would not pick up a signal. Highly recommend purchasing park tickets at the campground. It took our family 2 days anyway to see the Stone Mountain Park. We stayed in Loop L. The sites were a little cramped getting into and out of. Had to ask neighbors to move vehicles in order to park RVs. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Would rate it a 10, but no cable TV. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We really loved Stone Mountain. They have spent alot of time and money making the park a really great tourist stop. Now it is time to work on the campground. Twenty-five years ago it was probably the nicest around. With the rest of the park becoming such a great attraction, it would be nice to see the owners pour some money into the campground. Nice park with lots to do. But, be aware that you need to add $8 to first night for fee to get into park with a vehicle. This is a tourist area so the activities cost $. Unless you just want to walk, ride a bike, etc. The campground sites range from OK to nice. It is a hilly area next to the lake, so some sites may be difficult for a bigger rig. Also, it seemed a bit "messy", with a lot of work going on. It was the off season so maybe it will be better later this spring. One BIG problem. If you get a full hookup site near the lake, be very careful when you dump. There is a problem with the sewer system and it will run out on the ground unless you go really slow. This may be only on the lower sites like where we stayed, but if they charge for it it should work better than it does. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is our 3rd stay at this campground. We need to see our son and family in Atlanta, and there are no other choices. This campground needs to be run by people other than government! This campground needs to be organized and operated by people who have seen a campground, used a campground or operated a campground. Example, the first time there we requested a pull thru site. Well, it was a pull thru, but we were so far out of level we looked ridiculous and it was difficult to get into our camper. The second time, we were closer to the office and the site was somewhat satisfactory. You just did not want to go to the back of the trailer, or you would fall down the cliff to the lake. Having no children with us, that was easy to avoid. This time, having the site map, we called to make a reservation. The person taking the reservation gave us site #144 and that was a good site. We agreed, reserved and got a confirmation. When we arrived, the teenager handling the check in, was also working in the store, which created a huge line of people wanting to just buy something or check-in. Terrible situation. We were not given the site that was confirmed, which was empty. She said, due to our short stay, she could not give us our confirmed site. So they gave us #156! Next to the bathroom, bright lights and the site was so unlevel, it took forever to get situated. One of the employees came and said the site was "crowned up" and you need to find the level in the site. DUH! We can make anything work! To become level, we would have to bring one side of the wheels up about 7". So we jockeyed it around so that we were sideways and somewhat level. The poor guy next to us, actually broke his fifth wheel hitch in his truck, trying to reload his trailer. Most places that are operated by government and managed by teenage help, have absolutely no clue. Campers cost lots of money and do not need to be put in this situation. It is too easy to be in a private campground. This one should be managed by a vendor. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This was our second visit to Stone Mountain State Park and the campground. The park has a lot to offer; however, the campground needs some improvement. During our visit the sewer backed up and over flowed. The campground also has large trees that have large nuts that will pound the top of your RV with the slightest wind or rain. We now have a cracked vent from the relentless droping of these nuts. We will return to the campground but not during the fall when these nuts are beginning to fall from the trees. While this park is beautiful, it has some serious flaws. For one thing, $40 per night is a bit steep for just electric and water hookups. Our site was very unlevel and took a lot to get our rig setting level. Some of the sites are short and since the site was preassigned to us, it was good that we did not have a big rig. But my biggest problem was with the billing system. Since I booked this reservation months ahead, I was billed on my credit card for three nights (we were there during the Yellow Daisy Festival and all sites are full). When I checked in and paid for the rest of the week, I was charged for the full seven nights. I did not have my credit card statement with me and had no proof that I had already paid for three nights as a deposit and the park office had no record of it. While we were there, I got very ill and had to have an abulance called. The ambulance driver did not know how to get to our site since there was no park personell available to tell them where we were. Then the ambulance driver did not know how to get out of the park and after driving around for 30 minutes was intercepted by a park policeman who lead them out. When I returned home and felt good enough to call them about being billed for three days twice, they were quite reluctant to help me, saying they would call me back. Needless to say, they never did and I never got a credit for the three nights. There were some sites that had 3-4 cars/trucks parked by them and they stuck out in the road as the sites are small. Not once did I see park personell drive around to tell the other campers to move their vehicles out of the lane of traffic inside the camping areas. The laundry rooms were not adequate for the size of the park. This park is pretty, but that is about all I can say about it and it sure isn't worth the money. We camped here in a Motorhome.

I am new to this site and reviewing places where we have camped. 2005 was the first year of camping for our family. We stayed at Stone Mountain Park Campground September 2-5 (Labor Day weekend). We reserved a site well before our visit and the staff member was very kind and full of information. She suggested when we arrive that we ask if there were any cancellations of “better” sites. We did, they did! The young lady suggested we go look at the available sites but said her favorite site was open. After previewing the sites we chose her favorite! The site was clean and close to just about everything. It was so big that we thought a fallen tree was the border of our site but we actually had both sides of the tree. The site was pretty level which is a plus because we are “tenters”! The bathhouse was very nice and very clean. The pool was small but very clean. The continental breakfast at the shelter house was a nice treat we had not seen before. The camp store was at the end of the season but still well stocked. We even got shirts for 50% off! We saved by buying the 3-night site rental with “full access” wristband for 2 adults and 2 kids at the amusement park (around $180). The amusement park was AWESOME! The campground offers a pontoon boat shuttle to the park. We had some great quality family time at the amusement park. All attractions were class acts. The sit down restaurant (the name escapes me) had delicious food at a reasonable price. Ask about the hand tossed rolls! At the end of the day there is a laser/fireworks show that is worth the price of admission by itself. We even got to see American Idol’s Josh Grayson in concert prior to the laser show! To top it off we were close enough to Atlanta to catch our Cincinnati Reds at Turner Field. This would be a must for any baseball fan. Turner Field is a great experience for the kids too! We took the metro rail system to the game and had we left earlier we could have enjoyed Underground Atlanta. Personally, I cannot agree with some of the more critical reviews posted. Maybe I was just lucky? But, by far our best trip so far! We camped here in a Tent.

The campground is very large and the sites are all very different depending on which loop you are on. Some sites are almost level and others are almost impossible for you to get your camper level. Some are very shaded and close to each other where others are more open. Some sites have a very steep dropoff at the rear of the site so if you have young children this could be an issue. The pool, playground and sand volleyball areas are nice. Our site was directly across from the sand and my children enjoyed playing in the sand every day. There were Krispy Kreme donuts every morning under the pavillion which was nice. I did notice that the employees speed through the campground either in golf carts or regular vehicles. As previously stated, the park makes up for the sub-par campground. Pluses for the campground were the pool, the camp store, and the water taxi service. Minuses were very uneven sites and rude office help. We were put into a site (318) that was too small for our MH and very uneven. It was also marked as full hookup, but I could never find the sewer. Several others were unsuccessful as well. It looked like the site was washed over from a heavy rain, so it was probably buried and somebody had removed the marker. I had to argue with the lady at the office to get another site. That one (306) fit our MH and was only a little more level than the other. I still had to jack the front end off the ground to get it even close to being level and because of the incline at our door, forget about trying to sit out on chairs. We used the picnic table. It looks like they are switching to a poured concrete picnic table. Most sites had them including ours. They were very uncomfortable to sit on and we saw many sites where one bench was already broken. After walking the grounds we found several other sites that would have been more suitable and noted them for future visits. We enjoyed the park enough to overlook these flaws. Beautiful treed campground, with lots of amenities around in the Stone Mountain park. Downside to this park are that the site was not particularly clean (we filled up most of a walmart bag with trash on our site), the sites are uneven, and the inner roads are very tight to navigate with a large coach. There's no real signage telling you where to stop when you drive in, the best thing to do is stop in the turn lane when entering the campground. We stayed there Memorial Day weekend 2004. My first impression was that the sites were
close together with very little usable space for the awning, etc... Our site was a narrow pull-through, gravel, and extremely unlevel. The plus side is that it's shaded and has water taxi service available to the other attractions that are available at Stone Mountain Park. After getting settled, we found that there was still enough room to sit around and visit with fellow campers. The staff picked up trash bags at 11:00 each day, which was very convenient. Even with the minuses, we purchased a Mountain Pass seasonal membership and can't wait to go back. This has quickly become one of our favorite places to stay, especially with the children. We have to give it high marks because campground is located in such a great park with so
many activities. It feels like the woods but you're basically right there in Atlanta area. We don't want to knock it too much because it is quite nice, but some of the rave reviews about camping area were overblown. Bathrooms and showers are not clean -- many bugs, saw one roach, and even had a tree frog actually JUMP into my shower while I was standing there naked with shampoo in my hair. Wild house-type cats roaming and ripping up garbage bags, which staff doesn't pick up too reliably. Staff was pretty lame. Our first site was on Loop M, which we found out stands for "mud." Gravel, washed out, and not level. Roadsides drop off down embankments, so sites are basically built-up mounds sticking out like fingers off the road. Some aren't too pretty because it looks like they used construction debris for fill. Drop-offs can be dangerous for kids, especially ones on bikes. Moved to Loop "L" for a paved site (293 - good one) which made a huge difference even though we lost our lakefront spot. Still had fair view of lake and nice paths to lakeshore. Great pool and playground for kids. Remember--they don't call it Hotlanta for nothing, so be prepared for the heat if you go during summer. We will definitely return, despite those negatives, but not until it is cooler. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Stayed at Stone Mountain this Memorial Day weekend 2003 and the week following. The campground over all is OK. The sites are for the most part un-level, kind of close, and not well kept. The hills are expected but some of the sites in the 300-400 areas are on the side of hills. In the 298-6-4-2, etc. areas you're awing basically opens into the campsite facing yours.a friendly arrangement (you can share campfires). I found the bathhouses to be the dirtiest, I have seen at any park/resort. There are dead and living bugs all over the rooms (on the sinks, counters, toilets, floors etc.), broken showers, broken doors, missing soap dish (so no place to put your soap or shampoo). In one shower stall a broken blue cup with a substance in it, lay on the floor the whole week and was still there when I left. Every morning there is a donut and coffee fireside at 0730-0930 but the staff does not tell you this or that on Sunday there is a real breakfast served at the pavilion. Most of the staff are KIDS some cannot even operate the cash register in the little store, most are somewhat friendly, until you ask a question and then they say " I don't know, they never told me". The staff was not aware that the TRAM at the park DOES NOT RUN after the lazer show. This was a surprise when you stand with a group of small tired children at 10pm and have to walk/care them over a mile to get to the water
taxi to get back to camp. I had asked if the tram runs after the show and the staff had told me yes...not a problem. Also they said that if there was a problem call them. They do not answer the phone at that time of night. Overall the Campground gets a 7 and the park itself gets an 8. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

My wife and I and my little chinese crested stayed here in April 2003 in a travel trailer. We stayed in one of the pull through sites. The sites can be faily uneven and it was very difficult to level up completely. The park was so nice though I did not mind. This is a very family friendly and quiet place to stay. You can find a spot near others or so that you see few folks, it's your choice. Did wish there was cable. The park is growing and there is quite a bit to do. I will return this summer in June or July. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Park was very good. The normal back in sites were large enough for both my trailer and truck to be set up with room to spare. The sites very uneven, so bring extra matieral to level your equipement. Very nice shade for every site I seen. Playground equipment was in good shape. Campground was laid out very nicely, more than enough room to manuver even the biggest of rigs. Had a sign that stated water pressrue was very high, but this I did not see. I gather they had a problem with the water as they were starting to dig up a coulpe of places to perform repairs while we were pulling out. I assume they were addressing the water issue from the way they were talking just outside our site. I look forward to going back someday. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We camped here when I had to go to a conference in Atlanta. I will never camp here again
unless I hear that there have been major upgrades. We had to repel to get out of the camper. The site was not level. The edge of the site had a very steep drop off that made it very difficult to get into the camper. Unless you are going to Stone Mountain, I wouldn't bother with this park, especially for the high price. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Excellent location in a great park. Lots of shade, some sites difficult to get into, some on steep grade. Rest rooms and showers appear to be cleaned daily but not thoroughly. We notice an unusual amount of spiders in the restrooms that never seem to be removed. Staff has always been friendly and most accommodating. This is a family favorite for us and the grandkids, climbing the mountain and riding the train are a must, along with the laser show. The park itself has become commerialized and much more expensive for a family than in the past. We return nearly every year. Very

Very nice camplground located within Stone Mountain Park. 3200 acre. Laser light show was super. Lots of activites within the campground for kids: pool, playground, morning donuts, fishing in the lake, etc. Plan to return in 2002. We camped here in a camper.

Great park, near interstate, located within SM state park, great for kids and adults. Some of the sites are in rough shape, probably due to tree roots heaving them. Some sites located on a hillside and could be a flood problem or at least wet and muddy little feet. Look around before you pick your site.Would and will go back.! We camped here in a camper.
