Challis Golf Course RV Park is located off of Hwy. 93 about 1 1/2 miles up (west) Main St. It’s nothing special although you are up higher and get a nice view of the valley below. It’s very quiet here and close to markets, restaurants and areas for sightseeing. There are 17 pull throughs and a number of other sites that appear to be back-ins that are located closer to the highway. I don't know the exact number of sites since we didn't receive a park information brochure. The sites are wide enough to get all of your slides out and the awning too. We’re 38’ and towing a Jeep Cherokee and didn’t have to unhook but if you’re over 40’ you may have to unhook and park next to your coach, there’s enough room, or T-bone your toad in front of your coach. The aprons are made of crushed slate and aren’t totally level. Power was good, water pressure was great, no problems with the sewer hookup. Great (free) WiFi, very strong signal. No cell phone or Aircard signal with (Verizon). Clean bathrooms and showers although we didn’t use them. Outside of the shower/bathrooms is a soda vending machine and there is also a laundry facility. No trees for shade but you won’t have any problems getting a satellite signal for your TV. We were in a 30 amp pull through but according to our receipt they do have 50 amp sites. We didn’t need to run both of our basement air conditioners, so 30 amp was fine. It’s a perfect place to get a good night's sleep or to play a round of golf. If you spend 2 nights you get a free round of golf (9 hole course). Otherwise it’s $12.00 for the golf and $10.00 for a cart. They have a driving range too. The Park Host, Denny was very friendly and helpful. I would have given this park a higher rating if it had shade trees and we felt that this park was a little on the pricey side for having so few amenities. We would stay here again if passing through the area. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This was a great rustic RV park with the bonus of having hot springs you could soak or swim in. I met the owner in the pool, and he seemed very nice. He lives on the premises, but has a great grounds keeper/manager working there who was quite friendly and willing to help out when possible. Our campsite was RIGHT on the waterfront. Campsites had table and an in ground fire pit. The $33/night price included taxes, etc. We camped here in a Motorhome.

I could live here! The campsites are fine, nothing special, but the scenery and the hot spring pools make it awesome! Red rocks, Salmon River, remoteness. It was to be just a stopover night for us, but changed our plans to stay an extra night to actually look at property for sale in the area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This was the second year in a row we stayed here. It was as wonderful as the last time. We were with our 13 year old daughter. It was very peaceful and quiet. We are going to try to spend a week there next year and brings friends! It would be a great place for a family reunion. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for 3 nights with our 12 year old daughter. We stayed one night on our way to MT and then again for 2 nights on our way back. We loved it. The swimming pool and hot pool were absolutely fabulous! The people were really nice and we were even given a tour of the old bed and breakfast building by the 4th generation owner of the park. It was so quiet and peaceful and our camp site was right on the Salmon River. There were a lot of bugs,but that is what you would expect near a river in July. The roof over the hot pool was falling apart, but we were told they were planning on fixing it this year. If you like old buildings, and quaint surroundings this is a great place. If you are looking for fancy bathrooms and RV sites, then it is not for you. We would definitely stay there again, and would even consider making it a destination site as there is a lot to do in the area if you like the outdoors, American history and ghost towns. This rv park has a very pretty setting with a lot of potential, but, unfortunately, it is run down. The interior road is very very narrow and occasionaly overhung with tree branches, forcing us to drive on the grass. The spring fed hot pool was concrete, clean and had a gravel bottom, but the building had parts of the roof missing, and was badly in need of painting and upkeep. It was very dusty near a parking area, but the staff was trying to keep the grass watered on most of the sites. Unfortunately, the staff did not enforce their rules against dogs running off leash, and the barking was very annoying. It is a family type place, so there were children running, and yelling throughout the place. The hot springs themselves were clear and very enjoyable. We will not go back to this campground. If you like hot water, this obscure place is for you. Down a long country road , it's an oasis of green trees & grass, flower beds and peacefulness. The old pools are cement with rock bottoms, but were clean and comfortable. The park sites are level and mostly spaced, with plenty of tent space too. The downside is that it's still an old place, with tiny, damp bathrooms, with 1 shower, 2 stalls for RVers, and a good walk away from the sites. There is no cell phone nor TV reception, no pay phone, but amazingly, a wifi hot spot in the office, but is also a long walk. Cost is $27.50 a night for W & E with a dump station on premises, and includes a hot spring soaking for 2. Singles pay the same rate. Be warned, there are plenty of mosquitoes and flies around. Worth a trip if you really like hot springs. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This small campground is a hidden "gem" at the end of a four-mile country road. It is on the Salmon River, and there are mountain views all around. The sites are level, grass is mowed, and there are beautiful flower beds. There is a spring-fed pool, with a constant temperature of 94 degrees, and a hot tub as well. Staff is friendly and helpful. Wildlife is abundant. We were greeted by four big-horned sheep on our way in, and during our stay saw more of these, as well as deer and bald eagles. We had a very pleasant stay. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

The above rate is the weekly rate divided out. It has huge sites, about 100' wide and 85' long. There are about 25 pull thru sites, the rest are back in. There are new Owners as of fall of 2010. The owners are very accommodating.The WiFi works well only if you are near the office. Picnic tables are available. Some sites have shade. The campground packs up during the Braun Family Reunion in August every year so make your reservations early if you are going to be here then Otherwise there are plenty of sites. Great 50 amp service, really strong.It is possible to walk to two different grocery stores. There is a nice 9 hole golf course about a mile away, and it has very reasonable greens fees. It is not very busy. No tee times are needed. Salmon River is very close and fishing/rafting trips are available in town of Challis. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The owners are very nice, friendly people who are trying to rejuvenate this park, and it should improve in a couple of years. (This used to be a site owned by a mining company for their workers and has some potential.) Right now, however, the grass is very dry, it is run down, and there are weeds and stickers all over the ground, so be careful with your dogs! The 62 sites is a bit misleading, as only about 25 or so are currently operational. Bathrooms are nice and well kept. We would probably not stay here except Challis was halfway on our way to Montana. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Average campground but very spacious pull-throughs. Limited cable TV and Wi-Fi good. Pleasant open aspect with mountain views. Close to Town Center, Fuel and 2 Supermarkets within walking distance. An ideal location for visiting Sawtooth NRA. Poor check in procedure as Management was rarely seen. No Verizon cell phone service at all. Excellent laundry with brand new equipment. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

The management was very nice. The stay was pleasant. Very nice, spacious sites with grass and picnic tables. WiFi access and connection was good. My Verizon Wireless cellphone did not get service near Challis, but my husband's Alltel phone did. I would definitely recommend this Park. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a Plain Jane park; the managers were very nice as we checked in. The sites are graveled - long and level, some small shade trees, 50 amp power, a N/S orientation on sites, so the satellites work great. The cellphones don't if you are Cingular, but 2 yrs ago when we were here my Verizon worked on roaming - we were parked south of town then. There is a grocery store across the street & one within walking distance to the south. There are not a lot of choices on restaurants in town. Challis (pop. 900) is on the beautiful Salmon River in central Idaho; be sure the visit the Land of the Yankee Fork Interpretive Center just south of town - a joint federal/state venture. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Very large sites. Cable TV works but you have to string about 50-100 feet of provided cable from a box to your rig. I have stayed here three times over the last four years. They need WI-FI. My cell phone wouldn't work in the entire town (Cellular One). We camped here in a Motorhome.

Lovely little park in mountain high community in Idaho. Friendly and very helpful staff. Parking is on large grass lots with trees and beautiful mountains views. No problem with DirecTV. Close to small town services and local attractions: ghost towns, hunting, fishing. Very refreshing from the stack on top of each other parks. Pet friendly. Limited on the 50 amps, so call ahead. Would love to revisit. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Sites are pull thrus with trees on each side. Plenty of room for slides. Park on grass, no leveling problem. Owners are trying to get Wi-Fi & more 50 Amp. There are only two 50 Amp sites. One site is difficult to hook up to unless you have a long electric cord. We used 30 Amp with no problem. The owners are friendly & helpful. Got on our MH roof and taped up our 3 vents that had been damaged by hail in Yellowstone. Close to town and restaurants. Will go back again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
