The swimming pool looks nice (the water was clear and clean) but it was small. The playground was newer but the kind that you would have in your own back yard, not a commercial quality playground. Mostly a seasonal park, and as usual a few of the seasonal areas are nice...but the majority are just "eye sores" that that need to be hauled away and the lot cleared of all the junk. I did see some maintenance work being done and since this park has new owners, there could be great changes coming. Worth checking back into next summer...but not again this camping season. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This campground is now called Four Star campground. It changed hands in March 2007. The new owners seem friendly, yet unorganized. We were assigned an area when we arrived. Each area A, B, and C has about 20 sites. The tag we got for our car just had an area (B). We paid $32 the first night. I only paid for one night because of my first impression. I paid for a second night and was asked to pay $35. Each night, the store had different personnel. The sites themselves are very small. There was enough room in Area A for a 28 foot trailer and a picnic table then the next site started. If the campground were more crowded I would have had a rough time backing into a site with my 25 foot trailer. With little room for the trailer; there is almost no room for your tow vehicle. So the people across the street parked along the street (making backing in tough). At this moment I can't recommend the campground (and probably won't return), but the owners are planning more improvements. The pool is nice and the playground equipment looks new. The sites are just too small for my taste. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

The lady who checked us was mildly unpleasant. The park is very untidy and appears to double as a residential area for for many lower class individuals. It was quiet at night and we were not disturbed. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We fell in love with this campground. It does have gravel roads, but they were smooth and not dusty if you went the speed limit. The site were grass (not the cement city we've seen before) and huge, the restrooms were clean and had plenty of hot water. The swimming pool was clean and every thing was working (the kids loved it). The store was not open when we went to it, but there was a sign telling us to use the free phone to call a number to have some one come to take care of us and low and behold with in 5 minutes someone was there and took care of us. The only thing that was confusing to us was the place is huge, but once we got a site map we were fine. We camped here in a Tent.

I have read the prior reviews and cannot believe they are from actual campers. Yes the campground has gravel roads, but well maintained, though dusty if you speed. Buildings area all well maintained, and freshly painted, bathrooms were clean and functional. We came in early Friday and while no one at gate or welcome center, there is a sign the clearly gives instruction on the use of the free phone and cell number to call staff. We used the phone and the staff responded quickly and were friendly. Bathrooms were clean with plenty of hot water, playground equipment while not new or modern well maintained and functional, no kids so we did not use. We discovered over a hundred vacant wooded acres to hike with our dog and loved the place. Also, in talking to seasonal campers found out fight going on with contiguous RV subdivision and the developer so bad reviews are probably from them. Lastly, I went to their web site and watched their video stream, when at the campground, found it accurate and not doctored. Do your own review before discounting this hidden gem. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The previous reviews are so on target. It felt like being in the twilight zone. We found this resort online. The description said it had a special 4 days/3 night rate of $59. We pulled up to the gate and the place looked deserted. We drove our van around to check out the place. The welcome center and other buildings were very run down. We saw no one around. We couldn't find any campsites. We felt so uneasy we turned our coach around and left. We would never recommend this place to anyone. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Overall a good campground, but water has a bad sulfur smell and had problems with the breaker on the power pole. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice, clean state park. Peaceful and quiet. Loved watching the barges on the river. Park hosts were friendly and watchful of the surroundings. Bring your own water though...it tastes/smells HORRIBLE here. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Mainly a seasonal park, but they do offer a few Overnight sites. Grounds are not maintained at all and the majority of the seasonal sites look like no one has been out to them in years. No swimming of any type (pool or lake). Nice newer playground and entry with a keypad locking gate. I asked if they had fishing, the lady said yes they had a stocked pond but in her own words it was pretty "grown up" I guess she was not kidding because I could not even find the pond! Weeds - Yikes! I don't think we will return, the place seems deserted and creepy and offers nothing for recreation. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
