Weird site layout, with some tight turns. Sites were very soggy when we were there (needed 4WD to leave our site!), with standing water and lots of slick grass - I don't know how the tent campers managed. They were trying to pump out water while we were there. Dump station at exit/entrance is very crowded (we had to back into it, due to parked cars in front of the office) and dump is on the wrong side (probably why they have a long sewer hose there for guest use during dumping). Our site was grass-only (no gravel), and it was hard to level with the sogginess of the ground. I'm guessing this isn't unusual because they make a point on their campground map they give you at check-in that weather is not a valid reason to get a refund. On the plus side, it's a nice looking campground, and, in dry weather, might be a fun place to take a family to give the kids experience "camping", particularly if you camp in a tent or pop-up. Would also be a nice place for a motorcycle camper. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

It has friendly staff and is easy to find from the highway (while being far enough away from it to be a quiet campground). Site lay out was a bit odd and cramped in the full hookup sites. Bathrooms were either not heated or minimally heated, so not great for Fall camping, but they were clean. Good for an overnight interstate stay, but I wouldn't camp here as a destination. There are much prettier and cheaper sites at Starved Rock State Park (if you can get one). We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We were a little disappointed with the description of the campsite we reserved. It stated, nestled in a shady oak site with a quite country road behind you. Well, there was one oak tree, and the cars drove about 60 on the road right behind our rig. I must add that we are used to camping at Corp campsites that are very wooded and secluded so I was expecting something similar with the description. Not at all similar. The sites were very close but I should have expected this from a private campground. When we arrived, I asked if there was a different site that might meet our expectations more and the owner said that if we didn't like it, and then he paused because the office was full of people. This kind of started the weekend off on the wrong foot but we decided to make the best of it. And we did and had a great time. I later confronted the owner's wife, and apologized for being a little grumpy about the campsite and she said she knew we would learn to love it. It all ended well!!! The pool was very nice and clean and so were the restrooms. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Good Sam rate. Very nice, wide pull-through site. Graveled, a few were concrete. Large clean swimming pool. Good WiFi. Nothing to remark particularly about the campground but it lacked nothing. It is very well taken care of. Office staff were very efficient and friendly. Nice location for I-80 access, about 3 miles from I-39. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed here one night heading east on I-80. Great location as it's right off the freeway. No noise overnight, which was good. Sites were gravel but level and long. We had plenty of room for our 40 ft RV and tow. Some trees and some open spaces. Walking the dog along the back tree line was nice. Office staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We used Passport America for a 50amp/sewer site. Easy in and out for a big rig. Definitely would stay here again even for a few days to enjoy the area. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We enjoyed this campground on our overnight trip eastbound. If you are traveling eastbound from West of the Mississippi River, it makes a good place to stop for the night if you want to travel through Chicago the next morning. It is right off the Interstate and you pass a Love's on the way to the campground. There is definitely Interstate noise when outside, but we didn't notice it inside at all. We would also like this campground for a more lengthy stay. There are back-in and pull-through sites to pick from. The site sizes are generous. There are various rates available depending on the hookups you want. The $29 rate was Good Sam water & electric. There are full hookups available and a dump station. You can get shaded sites and sites in completely open space. The restrooms and showers were clean. It took a while for the hot water to get there, but it eventually got there. There is a very nice and well maintained swimming pool. There is a small playground, tether-ball, basketball and some walking trails. There is a store with basic necessities (food and camping equipment). There is also a game room. We will definitely be back when heading that direction. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Campground has a wide variety of sites from large wide open to heavily wooded. Some wooded sites may not accommodate large RV's. The shower houses were generally clean, but 60-70 campsites is alot to ask of 2 showers and 1 stool each restroom. The park is one of my favorite, and we have been here 4 times now. Lots of hiking trails into beautiful canyons, many ending in small waterfalls. The nature center is very nice with helpful employees to plan your hikes. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed 2 nights and loved our campsite. It was the last one on the way out and very big. We had a raccoon and a black cat come out at night to eat anything we or the dogs left behind. Would recommend this park to anyone and will be going back again. Lots of things to do around the area: hiking, fishing, sight seeing, to name a few. Host was very friendly. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Not a lot of reserved sites so you have to get here early in the summer months. Very close to the state park. Campground is clean, and the sites are well pretty far apart. Not very much shade though. Good place to camp if you are looking to spend time at the state park, but not much else to do on the campground or around the area. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
