This was our 3rd stay here and there have been many physical changes for the better. However, there used to be a park attendant to take the money and oversee the grounds. Now, there is an envelope payment system which is very confusing. There is a "host camper" during the evening to sell wood. People are allowed to come and pay for a site but don't have to occupy it. This is a nice park with lots of shade trees and grass. It is easy to find and close to the interstate. We camped here in a Motorhome.

After reading the reviews we expected a very nice state campground and were a bit disappointed. We had to move to 3 different sites trying level and never really were able to get leveled. The showers were filthy and we were told the water only ran hot so we didn't use them. The campground has a lot of trees which provided shade but they were so thick there was not the slightest breeze which made it muggy. We used this as an overnight stay but would find someplace else next time. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We pulled in early on a Friday afternoon and there were plenty of sites available (all types) although it became very full for the weekend later in the day. There are several very large pull-through sites and also sites directly lake front and backing up to the woods. Only problem were mosquitoes! Was self-pay; did not see hosts. Electricity was good; water throughout the park. The Lewis & Clark Visitor Center to be opened here in the future. Could be rather noisy with lots of kids, boats, bikes, etc. Close enough to I-29 for an overnight. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This park appears to be a little-known gem, based on the few people using it when we visited mid-summer. Over 100 large, well-spaced sites are available, with about 40% under reservation and the remainder first-come-first-served. All sites have 20/30/50 amp electric service and water is available from spigots placed throughout the park and at the two-lane dump station. Most are level, well-packed gravel back-ins. One row is all 80'+ paved FHU pull-throughs. Many of the back-in sites are right on Blue Lake, a remnant oxbow from the nearby Missouri River. The park includes information on the Lewis and Clark Expedition, and a new Visitor's Center and display area should be open in 2011. There isn't a specific dog run, but we had no issues with our pets. The cost noted includes the non-refundable online reservation fee. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Beautiful site on Blue Lake. Rate was FHU. Great place for dog to swim. Showers ran by pushbutton with a choice of hot, hotter, and scalding. Interesting historical displays. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

What a beautiful park! Plenty of room, nice level spots, fire pits with grills, lake, playground... All utilities were OK. Onawa is a pretty town with all necessary provisions, for laundry drive about 7 miles up 10th street. Eat at Charlie's Good time Cafe & Malt Shop - friendly and delicious. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

If we could always stay at places like this and a price like this, we'd be in Camper Heaven! Our price was reduced because of 'off season' but our scenery was as good as it gets; the geese were as noisy as they can be; the peace and quiet were unbeatable. There is a boat launch and a swimming beach but since it was October (and we don't have a boat), we didn't use either. Onawa is a nice little sprawled-out midwestern town; nearest laundry is in Whiting, about 10 minutes away. Indian casino about 5 minutes away. Propane and diesel available at Dave's World, a small truck stop/restaurant next to the exit. We would have stayed much longer but winter's moving in! Would definitely stay here again...and again...and again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Beautiful, shaded, spacious park with a great lake for water activities. There is a full-sized keelboat replica anchored at the dock for "hands-on" exploration. Very convenient to I-29. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We loved this park. We were here in the fall and there were at least 800 Canada geese on the lake. The sites are on grass and you park right up against the lake. We liked it so well that we ended up extending our stay. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Very nice overnight spot. Easy access from I-29. They have about 12 paved full hook up sites with 50 amp.(newer section only 3 years old) Volunteer here said power in other sections of park was iffy but there were lots of people plugged in. Very nice Lewis and Clark display and security was good. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Lewis and Clark campground is a great place to spend a leisurely vacation in the outdoors. The 112 campsites, 100 with electrical hookups and 12 with full hook-up, lie along the lakeshore. Modern rest rooms and showers are available, as is a trailer dump station. Advance campsite reservations can be booked through the park reservation system or by calling toll free 1-877-IAPARKS. Half of the campsites are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Nice long pull-through sites. Well maintained by friendly owners who guided us to our site. Laundry was very clean. Propane available and owner came to our site & took tank and filled it. Can walk to restaurants, McDonalds, and Dairy Queen. Would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is a small campground close to I-29 which makes for an easy stop-over. Management is friendly. Gravel sites and roads with room to maneuver. Restaurants and fuel are within a block or two. Rate is with Good Sam discount. Nice shady off-leash area with 4 foot chain link fence. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Near the highway exit, traffic noise was minimal in this nice, older park situated behind a Texaco station. Camp hosts/owners were extremely personable...escorted us to our site and offered help if needed. Sites were well-packed gravel and the longest I've ever seen. Mature shade trees, a fenced dog run, and well-maintained landscaping made for a first-rate facility. Would have liked to stay longer but they were getting ready to close for the season and their rates were a little too high for my budget. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed here two nights using our Passport America card. The owner/managers of this park are extremely friendly and express the attitude of wanting to be of help in any way they can. The sites are level and well shaded, although we have been able to use our satellite TV without problem. Our Sprint cell service and Wi-Fi have been very poor, although usable. The roads and sites are gravel, although well-graded. The utilities were without problem. This is the perfect stop-over park. We'll remember this park when we travel through here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a fine park with several sites in the shade. Staff is friendly. If you feel the need to go over the bridge into Decatur, Nebraska 4 miles away for dinner, it will cost you toll over the bridge both ways. The small town to your east will take about 4 minutes to explore. Hope you enjoy Chinese food or beer. That is about all it has. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We arrived late, 15 minutes before closing. The owners were waiting for us and we were quickly registered and escorted to a nice level site with full hookups. The owner even helped line up utilities and advised us about the soft ground. We have air leveling so we didn't have worries of those with jacks. We could tell when we drove the driveway and site that it was soft underneath but with a good layer of gravel we had no problem. Good electric, good water. We put this one on our list for another stop. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We used this park for an overnight stop. Friendly, helpful staff - easy check in and escort to site. Site was a pull through, long enough to keep car hooked up. Level gravel sites, but staff asked us to use jack pads as there had been heavy rains the day before our arrival, making the ground soft. The showers were clean, adequate, but nothing special. We asked about where to eat - walking distance - and directed to a local restaurant and enjoyed a good chicken dinner. We would use this campground again whenever passing through. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Big rigs avoid this park. Go down the road. The campground owner directed me to a pull-through site. The thin layer of crushed rock camouflaged the soft ground underneath it. The owner later told me their campground is built on an ancient river bed. Even though I put double 2x10x16 pads under all jacks as a matter of routine they punched through the thin layer of crushed rock. The front jack forced the 2x10s into the mud at an angle. When I retracted the jacks the front one slipped off the boards further into the mud and was bent so I could not retract it. I had to have an RV repair tech remove the jack. It cost $1900 for the RV tech services and to replace the jack. When I called the owners to look at the situation they were rude, accusatory, and refused to accept responsibility for the damage. They didn't even offer to refund the nightly rental cost. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Severe thunderstorm happened during our stay, power went out for a while, but everythhing back to normal when storm passed. Good pet area. Highly recomment if travelling on I-29. What a wonderful, quiet place,We were greeted with a great smile and a friendly hello. The sights are 100 ft long, and there are trees for shade. You were not bothered by anyone, yet all you needed to do was shout out, and they would come over to your site. We would stay again when passing through. We didn't have to unhook, and still had plenty of room. There were nice picnic tables, too! We camped here in a Motorhome.

Great place to stay a day or two. Easy in and out. Check-in easy; staff/owners very friendly and helpful. Very shaded park with old-growth trees. Lovely! Fenced dog park. We had a nice, long pull-through in an open area - no problem for our roof-top satellite. Level, gravel sites. Utilities in good location and they all worked well. We stayed one night, in a hurry the next morning and left our quick-disconnect water connection. Called the owner the next day and she graciously sent it to us right away. Way above and beyond! Would definitely stay again when in the area. We camped here in a Motorhome.

No frills campground so that is why I rated it a 7. Great for an overnight stop, right off the highway, so there may be some noise but I didn't hear it. Clean bathrooms & showers with a code required to access them. Level gravel sites & Dairy Queen within walking distance. Pet friendly. Didn't use the Wi-Fi or laundry. I would stay here again but overnight only, great stop for overnight. Very friendly owners helped me 3 different times with detour directions since the Missouri River was flooding the interstate in many different areas. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Pretty much what others have said. Long level pull through sites and easy to hook up. Close to interstate but no noise I noticed. Wi-Fi in site 32 farthest from office leaves a lot to be desired. This was a very pleasant park with level spots and great shade not too wide to block our satellite dish. Owners were very helpful to we novice travelers assisting to fill propane bottles, etc. We passed through on our way home, too, and they were just as pleasant. Water was cool, everything was easy to hook up. Owner gave us a treat for each dog and a mint for each of us. Handy to gas, Dairy Queen and McDonalds. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Our site was level which is a plus. We were located near the back and yes, there was some highway noise but it was not distracting. The sites were well kept, had a table, and the campground was shady. The code locked bath and showers were clean. TV reception was just ok but our Verizon phone and broadband worked fine. Rain from several weeks before still had many of the sites flooded and we were crammed into a site much smaller than expected. Mosquitos were so bad you had to keep running to avoid them. While these may seem like minor items, they are things that could have easily been mitigated with proper drainage and spraying for insects. The park is convenient to the expressway, but very noisy. Owners live on site, great greeting walked us to our site and helped point out the most level spot in the pull through. Great location right off the interstate, Lewis and Clark sites are close as well as the Keel Boat display. Park is loaded with tons of mature trees, every spot that we can see is shaded. Road noise is a bit more than expected but easy to tolerate with such a friendly host and well taken care of park. If we are back through this way we will stay here again. Good park for an overnight. Close to the Interstate: easy in easy out. The pull-through sites in the newer part of the park are 100' long with plenty of room for your tow plus whatever else you have. There are very big poplar trees through out the entire park. According to the owner the only way you can get satellite (if it's mounted on your rig) is to be in the newer section. We would stay here again but only for an overnight. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a convenient overnight stop for travelers who like their comforts. There are a couple more parks in the area, but they are more rustic. The shade is great, the sites are easy to access, and the owners are very involved in helping you park and get settled. The only downside is that there is traffic noise. A convenient night stop just off I-29 between Omaha and Sioux City. The owners are very friendly and cheerful which is so nice after a long days driving. Nice touches were the escort to site, biscuits for the dog and chocolates for us! We missed the turn-in: it's almost immediately right, just before the gas station. W-Fi was OK: we were at the far end of the campground and the signal was sporadic but adequate. Site was very long so we didn't need to unhook. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

What a pleasant surprise this campground was. After miles of flat, hot fields, this was a nice oasis. Very tall trees offer some wonderful shade. We were personally directed by the friendly owner (who gave us two tomatoes) to the longest gravel pull-through site I have ever seen. There is also adequate grassy space between sites. The park is nicely laid out, easy in and out and the trees did not interfere with our slides. Interior roads are in good shape. As previously mentioned, there are places to eat within easy walking. The Wi-Fi was excellent. The above price reflects a discount. this is a clean, quiet place and we would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Great overnight stop on your way to/from the Black Hills. All sites are pull-thru and someone will guide you to your spot. Several fast food and local establishments within walking distance so you don't have to unhook if you choose not to do so. Amazing how quickly the place fills up in in the evening during the middle of the week. I suspect that is due to the park and owner's reputation. It was obvious the bathrooms were a source of pride, very clean and cared for. Wifi worked well. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

An excellent/easy overnight stay. Easy on/off the interstate. A Dairy Queen right across the road if you need a treat. One of the nicest bathrooms we experienced on the whole trip. The only reason for a 9 versus a 10 was the typical maxed-out Wi-Fi capacity. One can retrive web pages with a little patience, but forget about downloading anything like Skype. The campground is clean and easy to get in and out of. The pull through sites were extremely long with fresh rock just laid. The sites were level. There was no cable TV and the TV stations came in very snowy. The WI-Fi was marginal. There was no reception inside the motorhome, reception our on the picnic table was very slow but did work. Lady in office very nice and friendly. Of the 44 sites there was 14 sites approximately 125 feet long. Wi-Fi Free. Laundry room had two washers and dryers. Very, very clean. Cost was $1.50 for washers and dryers. Good water pressure and electrical power was at 124 volts. Gravel roadways and pads with grass and picnic tables between pads. Some sites have a BBQ Grill and some don't. Park is well groomed. Office has a small RV Supply Store. Propane sales on site. Big trees for shade with a few open sites available if you have a dish. The Showers and Restrooms were impecible and they impressed me very much. A little road noise from I-29 but nothing you can't live with. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Good Sam Park. We really liked it. Friendliest greeting we've ever received in an RV park. VERY pet friendly too. Large shaded pull thrus. Easy access to the interstate but you can't hear it. We would definitely stop here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Stopped in for a night on the way to Yellowstone. The proprietors were extremely friendly. Our site was outstanding as we were next to a large play area perfect for the kids to play catch and throw frisbees. Bathrooms were very clean. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This place is great. About a quarter mile from the freeway but it is quiet. It is a great stopover place with 100 foot long pull through sites. It also is a great place to do the tourist thing like we are doing. We are here for 2 weeks and the rate reflects the weekly rate. There is lots to see and do in the area. There is a Dairy Queen about a hundred yards from the park and several restaurants within 1/4 mile. Also, 2 fuel station/convenience stores within the same 1/4 mile. I would have given it a 10 if the roads/site pads were concrete or paved. They are gravel but very sturdy. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Wonderfully shaded by groomed trees, very easy big-rig pull-thru access. Despite recent heavy rains, the sites were not muddy--large crusher-run gravel, well packed. Onsite owners are extremely pet& people-friendly. Excellent wi-fi. Would be a 10 if it had cable and rec room. Almost no noticeable highway noise. A great place to catch some peaceful rest, not a destination as far as we could tell! We camped here in a Motorhome.

This was a very clean and friendly park (complete with mints for our pillows and a doggie cookie for our Golden) close to the highway. They also have a great Iowa wine selection available for purchase. The only reason it didn't score a 10 is lack of cable. However, there were a few channels available with our antenna. We stayed in the new section of this park which had 100 foot sites and 2 sewer hookups. We were the first to stay in our particular sites, so the gravel was not packed down and their was loose dirt all around. We picked the sites, so no complaint here. Extremely nice and helpful owners. Bathrooms and laundry were spotless. A couple of local restaurants with good food within walking distance. This was a very pet friendly park, but not particularly kid friendly. Close to the interstate with easy in and out driveways. Very big rig friendly. I would highly recommend this park if you have to spend the night in western Iowa. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We stopped overnight at this campground which was neat and clean. The office staff were very nice during check in and made sure we got on our site ok. The campground is well shaded with big trees which was great on this very warm day. The trees were all trimmed high, so you don't have to worry about low limbs anywhere in the park. The sites were long and level with good 50 amp electric and good water. They offer free wifi which was a plus. This is a nice big rig campground. We camped here in a Motorhome.

I gave this campground a ten for what it was. A great place to spend as an overnight or as a basecamp. We stayed here on the way to, and then back, from Yellowstone. The couple who own this small campground go out of their way to make you feel at home. Clean, clean , clean sites and when I went in to look at the bathroom/showers I thought the floor was wet. That's how shiny the tiles were. A wonderfully clean, small laundry room. We camped here in a Motorhome.

A nice overnight campground. Sites were very well shaded with large beautiful trees. Limbs were trimmed to be sure not to hit campers. Very clean. Within walking distance to several local restaurants and a McDonalds. Owners were so nice! Restrooms were the cleanest I have ever seen in a campground. Hands down! They even give you mints for your pillow when you check in! If you are in this area and need an overnight place, stay here. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Great RV park very near the interstate. The owners were super-friendly and helpful. We
pulled in around 11:00 p.m. and they came out of their house to help us to our site and make sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommended. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We enjoyed our 2 night stay here. It was over one of their busiest weekends of the year. We had a reservation, but when we arrived a few hours early, and our site was still occupied, they let us park in a shaded site, and helped expedite the previous campers' exit, (they had "forgotten" check out time). We had a beautiful spot right on the lake. It was a little tight getting in and out of for a 33 foot 5th wheel. The sewer was in the middle and the water and electric were at the rear, but the orientation and view were perfect. The entire park was tidy and the bathrooms, showers and laundry were extremely clean. The camp hosts were great. The only reason we didn't give it a 10 is because the Wi-Fi worked ok at first, but by the 2nd day was unusable. Our Verizon 3g worked well. We would stay again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed for 5 nights in this lovely, super well maintained campground. Despite being easy to access from highway, it is very quiet. Facilities were cleanest we ever have seen. Park about 2 miles from interstate in farm land area. No highway noise very quiet. Gravel and grass sites. Level wide sites. No cable but satellite worked but be sure to ask for a clear site. Verizon signal good. Wi-Fi from camp not so good. Office is not always open which can be a problem if you have questions. When we arrived at least an hour after checkout time for guests the site we had been assigned still had someone in the space. We waited about 30 minutes for them to leave. Since no one was in the office we just had to wait. We used this as an overnight stop but we would probably choose somewhere else for just overnight that is more convenient. This park is on a lake so is a good weekend getaway. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a very nice park. Full of trees and on a pretty lake. The sites are fairly wide and level. The staff is extremely courteous: they even changed their mowing schedule to fit our odd rest needs. Like other reviewers said, there are mosquitos, but was not a big problem if you use your repellent. We'll definitely stay here again if we're in the area. The price reflects KOA discount. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Nice staff. The park is right on a lake. There was apparently a youth camp underway across the lake and the speakers were quite loud with announcements and music - we didn't mind but if you're looking for silence that could be an issue. This is one of the nicer KOA campgrounds. It is wooded and on a lake, although accessible for a large motorhome. We stayed for one night in a pull-through, grassy site that could easily accommodate our rig with tow vehicle attached. The location was good with easy on and off access to the interstate. Great value for money. Nice campground on a lake. The kids loved the playground and pool and they were both nice facilities. The pull-thru was level and shaded; only quirk was that the electric was way up at the front of the site while the water & sewer were in the middle of the site. Since we weren't planning to unhitch, I was glad I had an extension cable for the electric or I would have had to unhitch. Restroom/shower facilities were nice and clean. Staff was helpful and nice. I would be happy to stay here again for more than an overnight. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is one of the best KOA campgrounds we have stayed in. Being just off of I-29, we used it to overnight on the way home from the Black Hills. However, it also being right on Blue Lake makes it a weekend destination in its own right. The Staff was very friendly and helpful. The restrooms and showers were immaculate. We had a nice pull-through lakefront site. We arrived just in time to see a great sunset over the lake. I highly recommend it. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

This is a small but nice campground located on Blue Lake. The site was just the right size and level. They did ask that you not put out outdoor rugs on the grass which was everywhere and since it had rained it was slightly muddy. The Lewis & Clark State Park was only 2 miles from the campground which is great to bicycle to and ride around. There were some permanent sites but not too many. The area was located beside a soybean field and away from traffic noise. We stayed 2 nights. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is the quietest KOA I have been in. The usual train track must be miles away! The freeway, a mile away, is not a problem. Midweek there are no other campers in this park that is dedicated to annual lot holders. It must be a hoot on holidays. I am trying to find a way to post that the RV park in the Winni-Vegas Casino, Solon, IA is still in operation. $7 a night which has not changed since we were there in 1999. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We really enjoyed our visit to this campground. I used to live in Onawa but we'd sold our home and were in town to visit family. The park made a great place for everyone to come out with their kids. They could run around and have fun while the grownups sat around the fire and cooked out. It was quiet and we had plenty of room. It's got a nice location, close to water and town but not IN town. Usually quiet, clean campground on Blue Lake. Needed better staff policing of grounds during the weekend than during the week as seasonal campers tend to be less than perfect on the weekends. State park immediately across lake has keel boat exhibits and Lewis and Clark Trail information, all for free. Loess Hills State Forest area is a great 2-hour car trip with some very excellent scenery. We would stay here again. Casino four miles away. Slight downgrade because we did hear some I-29 traffic at night. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a pleasant lake-side park with lots of trees for shade. The pull-thrus are on grass, shaded and have picnic tables and a good separation from the next site. The park is about a quarter of a mile from the Interstate so noise in minimal. The Lake-side sites may all be long-term or seasonal but since they are spaced far apart all sites have nice lake views. Overall, very nice, especially for a KOA. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Heavily wooded campground on a lake with lots of shade. Seems to be a favorite spot for locals, many of whom have set up seasonal units that occupy the waterfront sites. We were there on Saturday and many folks had come for the weekend and brought boats on trailers and things got pretty crowded. Not the best place if you want peace and quiet, but probably better during the week and in the off-season. Nearby state park, at the location of Lewis and Clark campsite, has replicas of the expedition keelboat and is worth a visit. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

The koa book made it sound so picturesque, but not so much. I have to say though, go across the bridge to Nebraska and head north. Very beautiful! Campground was o.k., the sights were a little too close together to suit me. Also, we picked a bad weekend to go. The campground was very busy because of the rally up in Sturgis. Heavily treed, dirt, grass and some gravel. Owners were friendly, however, the sites were VERY VERY tight for a big rig-NOT recommended even though it says Big Rig Friendly it really is NOT. I did not realize the water was bad and it ruined a washload and my new filters which I had to toss. It was full of iron and I had to flush my system several times to get it out. DON'T use the water if you stay here. Overall, this was a very unpleasant experience as I could not get my satellite TV or internet reception under the canopy of trees and then I discovered the water problem at night, too late to do anything. The owners refunded my fee, but refused to replace my filters because I complained to KOA corporate after I left due to time constraints (NOT that they bothered to reply to me or assist me.) I would NOT stay there again and they have made it clear I would not be welcome there. They denied a problem with the water, but I see another camper complained about it last year as well. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Owner was very helpful. The former owner was also helping and very friendly. This is a
well-maintained campground and is very clean. We had a nice level pull-through site that was well-shaded. The best sites (including almost all waterfronts) are taken by seasonal campers. The road that goes by the campground (Dogwood) used to be a quiet county road, according to the former owner. However, this road now goes to a casino, and traffice is constant, 24 hours a day. Sites 7-20, while nice sites, are very close to this road. The water was brown at times - owner told us they were correcting the problem. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
