Shady, saw several deer, bird blind, trails, clean restrooms with some bugs. Tall trees in the campground that can be troublesome when getting in and out. Muddy in spots. Stayed at site 2, water leaked and created a swamp around the water outlet. If you want to stay on the weekend, you probably need to make an advance reservation. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Beautiful park, much loved by locals. Reservations are taken and needed in the summer. There are 13 spots with electric ($14) and 8 full hook-ups ($17), all paved concrete pads. Most are small, so big rigs would definitely need to reserve. Our spot, 19, was small, but we still needed an extension cord to reach the electric. Otherwise a lovely park, conveniently located, great value. Nice hiking trail and a bird blind for excellent bird-watching. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This was a great campground! Within 15 minutes of downtown Des Moines. Lots of great birding, and beautiful wooded area. Cement pads, full hook-ups, great TV reception, off and on Verizon MiFi (maybe it was our card), and the Park Ranger couldn't have been nicer. Never met the camp host. They do have a dump station and sites with just electric. All in all a nice place to use as a base camp for Des Moines and surrounding areas. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is the first rating on this park. This is a jewel of campground just outside of Des Moines. 8 of the 23 sites are full hook up, and the other 13 have 50 amp electric. There are modern restrooms but no showers available. All of the pads are cement and have large patios attached. Each site has a picnic table and a fire ring. The roads are all asphalt. Most sites are shaded with large mature Walnut trees. Satellite may be tricky here, but we had good signal with our Verizon air card. There is no WI-Fi offered. The $16 was for a electric only site, the full hook ups are a few dollars more. The address of the park is 3155 Walnut Woods Drive, West Des Moines, IA 50265 We camped here in a Motorhome.
