I don't know how the previous reviewer could give this place a 9. A lot must have happened downhill in one year. I changed the pet friendly rating to NO. Although they have a sign that pets must be on a leash, it is not enforced. People walk their dogs off leash and we were faced with an upsetting encounter with one of the violators. The restrooms look like left-overs from the 50's. The showers were nasty. Watch your step on the way to the restroom for the grassy area in front is a minefield of dog waste. I couldn't get out of this place fast enough in the morning. It was still dark when we pulled out. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a very nice place, the previous owner just sold it to a local person, and she is very nice. The hotel part needs a little updating but they are working on that gradually, very clean rooms and the parking spots for RV's are very spacious and nicely kept up. I highly recommend this place. Very easy to get to, on east side of town as you come into Meade, Kansas on the right hand side of Hwy 54. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
12 miles south of Meade and US 54 on Kansas 23 is Meade State Park. Beautiful State Park surrounding the lake, that is open year round. Main roads are paved while camp roads are gravel. We used one of the pull through sites and had easy entry and exit. Large level site with fire ring, grill and picnic table. Staff was friendly and helpful. They are in process of switching from their own reservation system to using Reserve America, therefore it might be a good idea to call ahead. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very nice state park. Many sites are lakeside or have good view of lake. Lake was closed to swimming, boating and fishing due to algae bloom, but camping was good. There are 4 loops, many with elect. There are 3 long pull-throughs in one loop (which we did not see until we we were leaving). No TV or WiFi. Sites are large, fairly level and shady. Looks great for tent camping. Would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
What a nice little park! You're driving through some pretty boring flat farmland, and all of a sudden here's a lake! The sites are very nice. There are 4 separate loops with electric and water, and our site (A loop) had 50 amps. Not sure about the others. Plenty of tent sites as well. It's a little oasis in the middle of nowhere! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Large tree shaded spaces on the shores of an 80 acre lake. Staff very friendly and helpful. Very quiet, no traffic noise, no water skiing or jet skis (boats have to be operated at a no wake speed). Was told there is very good fishing for bluegill, cat and large mouth bass. Nature trails around the lake. Definitely would go back. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
