Welcome to “Bayou Wilderness RV Resort” a little piece of hell located at 201 St. Clair Road in Carencro, La 70520 (337-896-0598). Let me tell you a little about this so called RV Park: *There are NO rules- all criminals are welcome* *Even though there is a speed limit sign posted it is NOT enforced and therefore people speed continually through the park in the upwards of 30,40 & 50 mph. This not only puts your children and pets in danger you also have the pleasure of having rocks kicked up at your RV and vehicle to include the windows.* *There are 21 “registered” sex offenders within 10 miles of this RV park* *They allow children of all ages (3-16 yrs old) to run free in the park with NO supervision. They allow them to trash the bathrooms and laundry room and don’t be surprised if you step out of the shower to several small faces staring back at you. They also allow them to not only continually run through your RV site but they sit on your vehicle, look in your windows and move and take your belongings etc. Not to mention that these same children throw trash on your RV site and through the RV park and nobody bothers to clean it up* *They allow people to chain their dogs outside to the RV with no dog house, water or food for days at a time not to mention the nonstop barking* *More than once RV’s were broke into in broad day light and completely cleared out* *The police are continually in the park for multiple reasons. (drunks, fighting, stealing on and on)* *Every single day you hear gun shots from the surrounding neighborhoods and this is nonstop* *There are TWO dog fighting location, one on each side of the RV park. (imagine having to hear that several times a week knowing that the animal control here will not even respond to the call because it is such a common thing in this area)* *Every single time it rains the whole RV park floods because they do not maintain the drainage system, when this happens the sewer over flows all over the ground* *They have several monthly people that are permanent and they allow them to collect garbage and clutter around their RV and all over their RV site. Not a pleasant sight at all.* If I were to rate this RV park it would be below zero and we have traveled across the United States several times and stayed in many RV parks. There is a MUCH nicer RV park 10 minutes from this location. It’s called Poche’s Fish-N- Camp and RV Park 1080 Sawmill Hwy. Breaux Bridge LA 70517 (337-332-0326) We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This park was somewhat pricey for what was offered. The traffic control gate and the road layout required you to exit the park to a public road to get to the store as it was a long walk from most sites. Given the price of the park and it's somewhat remote location from town, an extra charge for 50 amp electric and about $5 for wireless Internet seemed to be excessive. There were still quite a number of FEMA trailers in the park but we seldom saw the occupants and didn't feel at all threatened. We would probably stay there again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The showers were disgusting and complaining achieved nothing. Promises to have them attended to were not met. The site advertises wi-fi but that costs extra. The spa was not available, and the whole site had a feel of total disinterest. It was expensive and provided very little. We would never go there again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Big disappointment, what a mess, I felt like I camping in a swamp, mud everywhere, no cable, you have to pay for internet, filthy restrooms, I will never return. For the price I expected much more than a toilet to camp in. Too far in the sticks, office could care less, they don't care if you are happy or not, they are just there to take your money. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

The property was well kept and had a great layout. Only negative was that this campground is currently being used as a FEMA Trailer Park for those affected by Hurricane Katrina d Rita. Half of the property has permanent "residents", many without transportation so they tend to just hang out. The cable television is limited to approx 6 channels. The Internet WIFI is a paid service through Tengo Internet, the weekly fee is $15.00 and I have been averaging 11Mbps. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We checked out this Park on their website and Trailer Life. Their description does not match the actuality. The restrooms did not have a door with a secure lock - all broken. Only one had a toilet roll holder in place and tiles were missing revealing rotten timber. Laundry was reasonable but the machines are ancient and rusty and not all work - knobs missing etc. The website says Wifi is free, but not the case. Cable is provided but minimal channels, not all of which are clear. At $38 a single night it's expensive for this standard. We paid the weekly rate of $190 for a six-day stay. Disappointed. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We were disappointed by the high price and very average park amenities. The web page advertises free WiFi, but it is very weak and the desk clerk, when I could get her to quit talking to her friend and hang up the phone, said that it only worked near the office. The sites were level gravel & hookups were centrally located, but they are narrow. It was a bit disconcerting to have a FEMA trailer village right next to us, apparently they're renting them out. When we left two chairs on our site to indicate it was being used while we drove the motorhome for an oil change, we returned to find them gone, "borrowed" by one of the trailer families. We challenged them and they apologized and brought them back, but for the high price of the site I expected better security. We won't stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Fairly nice campground about 5 miles off I-10. Quiet, clean and well managed. Access roads are narrow but traffic is sparse. Convenient trash facilities. About half the park is set-aside for travelers; the other half contains vacant FEMA trailers for Katrina victims (why they're vacant, I'll never understand). Cable TV is mediocre...there's 7 or 8 cable channels but no local channels. Local channels are only available with an antenna. I hesitate to recommend it but would probably stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

An ok stop and it all felt pretty safe. It was a bit of a drive off the interstate [3 miles]. The road is narrow and you have to watch for the turn off's. The office folks were very helpful and pool looked taken care of. It was October so no one was using it. The grounds are large and scattered with huge oak's. The modem worked well and was very fast. Fine Cajun food is close. Prejean's is one way and Mulate's the other. I do think the campground is a little pricy. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed there for a year. It was quiet and the restrooms were clean and the laundry room was clean but small. The staff was friendly and ready to help. Nice little store/office. Clean pool with slide. Playground and tennis court. Would stay there again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a very nice park, but with some serious shortcomings. The park is designed with all pull-through camp sites. Sites and roads are all gravel. Our bus weighs about 38,000 pounds and the gravel sites and roads easily handled our weight without any problems. Landscaping and grass were well maintained and the park has a very nice overall appearance with many beautiful pampas grass bushes giving it a real Louisiana feel. There were very few trees, so we had no trouble getting a satellite connection. Cell phone reception in the area was very good. As I said, the park does have some very serious shortcomings. The pool was so filthy that my wife, who is an avid swimmer, almost refused to enter the pool. When we got there, it was obvious that the pool had not been cleaned for weeks. Several articles of clothing, plastic bottles filled with water, a dirty diaper and a plastic chair were in the bottom of the pool. There was no sign of any daily checking of water purity or routine chemical treatment as we have seen at other campgrounds. Also, the pool did not have any safety equipment, life ring, or depth markings. It was obvious that the pool was a private pool belonging to the campground owner and was converted to a campground pool when the campground was built. It would seem that the owner is taking a great risk by not taking minimal safety precautions around the pool area. The filth in the pool was inexcuseable considering the fact that the park was fully occupied and obviously very profitable based on the very high rates that they charge. My biggest complaint was the fact that many long term residents fly in and out of the park at 20 to 30 mph and cause great billowing clouds of road dust to cover everything. My car had so much dust on it that I could not see out the windshield. The dust problem is aggravated by the fact that the gravel has been ground down into a fine powder in many places with very few stones. The campground owner should seriously consider paving the roads. Gravel campsites are OK, but the gravel roads are a real pain. Lastly, we were told by an employee of a local bakery that the campground sits on very low land between the bayou and a creek and floods very easily. She lives near the campground and told us that recent heavy rains brought water levels in the park up to 2 feet into some of the trailers. I would not advise staying here if a hurricane or torrential rains are expected. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Great location, about 5 miles off I10 in Lafayette,La. Owner is there 24/7. Great people. Very scenic area with the greatest food in the world. Do yourself a favor and eat at Crawfish Town USA. if you like or have never had Cajun cookin'!! The Crawfish are BIG, the gumbo is great and the atmosphere is out of this world. And they welcome overniters. Knew the campsite was great when 24 Prevost's with their Cadillac dingys pulled in!!! We camped here in a camper.

One of the best parks we've stayed in. Friendly staff, immaculate facilities and close to shopping and centrally located for the bayou country. While you are there, travel south to Baldwin, LA and try the restaurant at the Cypress Bayou Casino, excellent cajun food! We camped here in a camper.

All sites are gravel pull-thrus (25 x 65), with room for slide outs. All sites have full hookups and 50 amps available. There is a pool w/water slide, Rec Hall, and freshwater fishing on site. There are groceries and limited RV supplies available at the campground store, but since you are only a couple of miles from the city of Lafayette, this is no concern. In nearby Lafayette, Breaux Bridge, etc. there is Cajun food, music, etc., as well as virtually any type of store, resturant, or conveience you may desire. Overall, a very nice, clean and quiet place to stay. We camped here in a camper.
