This is an old former KOA that needs a lot of work. The roads were made for 20' long RVs. We had a 40' with a tow car and had a hard time getting out of the place. The power, sewer hookup, and water pressure were acceptable. We would not stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

A very sad little campground. Good bones, but no maintenance. Tree limbs need to be cut back, wires need to be raised. Many full time sites are just a mess. We did manage to get our 40' MH in and out, but just barely. The person in the office could care less. Also, located in a poor part of town, but easy on/off highway. Utilities worked well. Wi-Fi was slow. Local channels came in on the antenna. Don't know how this campground got it's high Good Sam rating. OK for quick overnight, but nothing else. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Old KOA that needs some work, but not too bad. We were parked near the front and the road was very noisy all night. No cable TV and Wi-Fi was useless. Restrooms were clean and good showers. Ducks and duck droppings everywhere. We spent 1 night here. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Old KOA built for 20' RV's. Roads only 8-9' wide with sharp turns. You are going to run off the road and it will be muddy if wet. Overhead cable supplies power to sites and the poles/trees used to string the cable are low. A few sites only have about 10' clearance before you will hit the wires. Look up everywhere you drive in this park. As noted before the 50 amp is a joke. Don't pay for 50 amp the 30amp is the same. The roads while narrow are new pavement and the park is really clean. The rate quoted is PA. (PA only gets 10% off) A little too much for what you get in my opinion. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Used to be a KOA, now private. Needs some TLC, but a nice campground overall. Sites are kind of narrow, especially with 4 slides, but we only stayed the night. We didn't need to put out our awnings. Roads are very narrow and kind of rough. Like I said, the campground, as a whole, could use some TLC. Would stay again if in the area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

The office was closed when we got there. Called the phone number on the door and no answer. Someone did show up about 20 min later to take our money. She told us the office is closed on weekends. The power lines are very low. Some sites they are so low you cant get in them. Lots of road noise. The grass needed cutting. The pool was unusable. Lost of ants! This place needs lots of work to be rated any higher. I will not stay at this park again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is our second extended visit to this RV park, lasting about 2 months each time. I have read criticisms of this park in other reviews which have made me wonder if we were at the same place. Agreed, the facilities have some age on them, but improvements are being made by the current owners on a regular basis. This past month (Dec 2010) the big push was to repave the old roadways, which had gotten quite rutty in places. About half the roadway system was repaved early this month and all the ruts are now gone. Since last year, a full-time maintenance staff has been hired. When the new manager discovered that my partner was disabled, the maintenance supervisor was sent to built her a temporary walkway out of stone pavers between our doorway and the roadway. Anyway, we have found the park to be comfortable and convenient. Fees are reasonable. The staff is friendly and responsive to problems. The park is satellite friendly for Datastorm users. Even the Muscovy ducks on the lake are friendly. When we return to southern Louisiana next year, we plan to stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This campground was a major disappointment. The sites are narrow, and trash and cigarette butts were everywhere. Permanent campers with trashy sites were interwoven with overnight sites. Poor drainage and mud holes were everywhere. Our site was 30 feet from a busy road with high-speed and noisy traffic. Across that road was a group of rundown apartments where people revved up their cars and played loud boom-boxes late into the night. The worst part was that Trailer Life rated this park as a 9/8.5/8. We would never have stayed in this park, but we had already passed by parks that were lower rated, and there was nothing ahead for many miles. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This park is decent, and is kept looking rather nice even though 90% of the parked RVs are permanent residents. Some noise from the road, but not as bad as Interstate noise. I have rated it 5 because although they say they have 50 amp service, it is the "fake 50" that many parks put in when they cheap out and don't want to run another electric wire. There is no breaker for the 50 amp plug and when measured with a volt meter, it is really wired like 30. Our EMS kept cutting power off is why we checked it so thoroughly and we had to move to 30 amp to keep electrical service coming into the coach. We did talk to the office about it, but they really weren't interested that it wasn't right. Their position was they provided a 50 amp plug and that was what we would pay for (no matter that it didn't work). We stayed here to have some repair work done at a nearby facility so it was convenient, but if we stopped here again we would find another place that would let us run two ACs or one AC and the convection oven without popping a breaker. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This looks like a former KOA. Could use some work, roads are falling apart, rained hard one night and drainage is bad. Fishing seemed decent, saw some good size crappies caught. Front row is right on the road, noisy until 11 pm or so, and starts up again at 6-7am. No on/off switch for 50amp, at least on my site (3). Owners and help seemed real nice. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Pleasant RV park, with sites available on a lake, though they are often full. Narrow road to site, narrow entrance and exit. Great staff. Have fished on the lake many times, but haven't caught anything yet; other people have caught and cooked their fish. Laundromat has 4 washers and dryers, but are often busy, and has an attached fitness room; hard to get quarters from office staff. Big laundromat across the street, but shabby. Three single shower rooms with cold floors and not enough hooks, and are dirty after noon. Women's restroom next to office is the one I used to shower in, as it was always clean and warm. There is a great mini-golf course. Little store is nicely stocked; snowcones and hot dogs available in office, too. Great seafood restaurant next door. DJM Enterprises about a mile away, was awesome with service and prices when our water heater broke. Rented a trailer and cabins are available on-site for our guests, good value. Has two little doggie parks, and a great wooded area near lake to walk your canine friends. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a converted KOA. It is a bit weathered, but a good stop for an overnight stay. The staff was extremely friendly. The sites were gravel and level. The utilities were dated, but well positioned on the site. There was some grass between the sites and some shade. The sites were roomy and easy to get in to. We had a pull-through site and had no problems positioning our 33’ fifth wheel. The restrooms were clean, well appointed and AC. The pool was great for the kids and stayed open late during our stay in mid July. We would definitely stay again for a one night stop. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

I agree with previous posts. Yes, roads are terrible; they do somewhat help to slow down the speed of the golf carts that run rampant. There doesn’t seem to be any funds being used to update the campground. The bathhouses are dirty and bug infested; the one by the river even had what looked to be human waste on the walls. It seems to be mainly used by the daily visitors who come to swim in the river. In my option this is a safety hazard to the children at the campground. These people drive up, pay the fee and have full access of the campground without any record of names or license numbers. My main complaint however was the raw sewage that covered the ground and was literally bubbling out of the drains. Initially we thought the problem was isolated to the campsite next to us but by the end of the weekend the problem was with most of the row of sites. By the second night our puppies started vomiting; by the third we were all nauseous. It rained the third night so it was impossible for us to leave and the rain water mixed in with the sewage; gross does not come close to describing it. Once the rain cleared out the humidity kicked in and the smell was unmistakable. Our camper and everything in it will be disinfected before we can use it again. We will definitely not be camping at Hidden Oaks in the future, and I do not recommend it. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

"Hidden" is a great name for the location. Honestly it reminded us of the movie "Deliverance". The pathways and sites were very very bumpy. We had a pull through but it was so rough, we ended up backing out of the space. One night was more than enough for us. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

My wife and her family grew up at this campground and once had a permanent site but the monthly fee is too high. Since we got our travel trailer, we've camped here a few times because it's fairly close to home. We will however, probably not return. First of all, the roads are HORRIBLE. I understand the river rises and floods the campground every so often but it doesn't look like any effort is put into patching or fixing the roads. We normally stay in the back by the river (they do have a nice walking trail to the river that can be enjoyed in the morning with a cup of coffee. Our dogs love it also.) Like other people have said, they have no concrete pads or any indication of exactly where they want you to park your RV. I guess if you have a group of RV's, this would be a good place for you because you could park them in a circle. Most sites do not have sewer that we ever saw. Watch for the golf carts: they are everywhere and I do not agree with the ages of the kids driving the carts. Some are way too young and they hang out at the beach with the carts until quiet time and then it looks like a parade with all of them blaring music as they come back to their sites. The back bathhouse is never clean and showers seem to be a breeding ground for mosquitos. I got bit more in the shower than I did at the campsite. The owners are nice. They have bingo's on Saturday and Sunday and either a band or the owner's husband, DJ's on Saturday nights. They do have a pool that we've never used and a huge open area for kids to play in. Overall, it's nice with the trees and shade and things to do but we feel since no money is pumped back into the park and the fees (especially on holidays) seem to keep going up, we'll stay at the more affordable and cleaner state parks instead. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is not the best campground we have ever stayed in. It has a lot of permanent trailers covered by roofs. Looked kind of shabby. The price was right. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We heard bad things about this campground and decided to attend due to snow weekend. We had a great time in the snow and might attend for this weekend again; however will try not to come back for anything other than the snow. Our sites were not the greatest, and it looks like a trailer park. Most of the campers are regulars, and if you don't camp there regularly, you don't fit in. I got the feeling that this park welcomed the drinkers and party animals. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We loved this campground. The kids really had a nice time too. Everybody was so friendly. The kids loved the creek. The nightly dances were also good too. We loved everything about this campground and will be back there this year to camp. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This campground is leaning toward the backwoods type camping. It was quiet when we were there, and it was comfortable. The sites are not paved. I was not dry or wet when we were there so it work out fine staying there. We were only staying there for 1 night on our way to Florida. I had to be very careful when parking because there are overhead power lines. I nearly raised my antenna onto one of there powerlines. We camped here in a Motorhome.

When I made my reservations I was told that the sites had sewer hook up at every site. To my despair there was none. They messed up on my reservations, sent money ahead of time. There are different zone's at the campground A-H. There is a 70+ lady, they told me that took my reservations and she messed up on lots of campers. She put us in zone F and moved us to zone A and spelled all of our names wrong. Well we decided to stay after a long drive. We camped as a group of 5 campers, it was a holiday so we had to stay a three night min. So at $30 + tax each night. Was not worth the trip. They do have a lots of things to do for the kids. If you like dust when it is dry, mud when it is wet,like to park anyway you like, and love loud noise. This is the park for you. Just remember not to let your kids run around with out shoes. They do not have fire rings. They let you burn anything. Some places that campers made fires, where still burning some had broken glass and nails and screws sticking up. So look close before you park. Well I guess you would know I will not camp there again. It was not for me. I like to get something for my money. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is one of the worst campgrounds we have ever camped at. You basically are camping in the yard with electric (outdated) randomly placed. There are no "sites" per say, you just park on the grass (very unlevel) and plug in where you can find electric. No full hook ups however they just added on a few "sites" (again randomly placed) that have full hook ups but you have to lose an axle to get to them. The roads should be deemed hazardous because there is no cement anywhere and you literally need a 4 wheel drive to get through CG. The owners do not put one cent into this campground and they think the activities they plan make up for it. Well, it won't be long until someone sues them for a fire or losing an axle. Between ancient electrical boxes and holes the size of small car; something bad is surely going to happen. I would strongly advise you not to risk camping here. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

The sites are poorly marked. Outdated electrical hookups that need serious attention. Loud noise from other campers allowed all night, apparently no quiet hours enforced. Restrooms and bath houses are unclean. The campground does have some family oriented activities which could make this an attractive place if management would only sink some money back into the place. Unless noticable changes are made I cannot recommend this campground to anyone. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This review is somewhat difficult because some things about this CG were great: planned activities, entertainment, beautiful white sand river to wade in, lovely live oak shade trees, plenty of room for kids to run and play. These areas would rate a 9/10. Other areas were not so good: bathrooms that were clean but always crowded and in desperate need of updating, uneven muddy dirt roads, some unlevel sites, poorly marked sites, outdated electrical service to sites. These issues would rate a 2/3, so overall my rating is 7. I would go back here. The seasonals were kept up nicely, the staff were friendly for the most part. They just need to pump some more money back into the CG and refurbish it a bit. Definitely more a family type place, not an "RV resort". They have a fun website that is kept fairly current with the events they sponsor. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

Very nice park, friendly owners, very well kept park. Far enough off the road for quiet, yet very easy access. We camped here in a camper.

We stayed here for an overnight stop on the way through on I-12. We ended up approx 100 yards off the Interstate, the traffic noise was very loud. The grounds have gravel and dirt roads, the sites are grass and level. Its located on a dead end road that is a little difficult to find at night. Cable was poor and Wi-Fi was nonexistent. Lots of permanent guests. It is located close to a Camping World and a large RV dealer. 50 amp and water worked fine. There are only one or two pull-through sites and we got the last one. Good area for a dog walk west of the park around a lake. It you can take the noise its not bad for a quick stopover. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

As other reviewers have mentioned, this is a good park for a place to stay for a few days. It is clean, felt safe, and the staff was friendly and helpful. There was a lot of noise from the Interstate, but since it was steady, it was easy to ignore. The Wi-Fi was steady, and the cable list was good. It you just need a convenient place to park near Hammond, this is a good choice. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This park is OK for an overnight stay, maybe 2 nights tops, not a destination. They do put their over nighter on the freeway side, so there is noise from the I-12 constantly. The park was clean and quiet. It very convenient to Dixie RV and Camping World. Trust the signs, you go down a narrow dead end road, if we hadn't scoped it out by car first, it would have been scary, but signage is great and correct. No longer accept Passport America. Pool is large, very clean, but too cold to use while we were there. We would stay here again if needed to be in the area. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Park is very close to the highway and noisy. Standing water everywhere from the rain. Staff was nice but I would go up the road to Livingston, LA if I'm ever in the area again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

I stayed here for 3 days and my site was in in the sun totally. No real visual appeal to most of the sites and highway noise was quite loud. I probably would try and find another place to stay if I returned to the area. Staff was polite but did not make up for the general site areas which were not appealing. This is a very difficult park to find, even after calling for directions because the street signs are hard to read. The campground sign does not make it clear where to turn. We ended up on a dead end road and had to back our 38ft 5th wheel up about 1/8th of a mile. Not Fun! The entrance road is very narrow with ditches on both sides. The area for overnighters is a "drive-in movie" type of area just yards from the noise of I-10 with NO trees. We were the only RV in the overnight area and felt very uncomfortable being alone. We would not stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed under Passport America and checked in after hours. The man said we could stay two nights and we paid for 1. In the AM we decided to stay another night and were told NO only one night at that rate. They did let us stay for a few hours using our generator. DO NOT FOLLOW GPS directions, they lead to a dead end road and no turn around point. Water and power fine. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The management was very nice and helpful. The main road was being graded to get rid of the puddles and the other roads were probably going to be worked on. The price includes Passport America plus $2 for wi-fi. The main draw back is the freeway noise, and when they are full, the tight spaces. The bathrooms were older, had a big crack and were very humid after a shower. There are many permanent residents yet the park seemed safe to me. We camped here in a Motorhome.
