Hopkins Park is operated by the city of Bear Lake. It is my favorite municipal park in Michigan. The quoted rate of $15 is for lake front. The rate off the lake is $13 and they have both monthly and annual rates. There are stores nearby to fulfill any needs that you might have. In compliance with "Nancy's Law" the park has replaced its playground equipment with safer equipment. The electrical service was updated in 2000 because of increasing demand by larger units. The restroom is immaculate with pay showers. There is a covered pavilion with picnic tables and there is a small swimming beach in the camp with a larger one a block down the road. There is a public boat launch and trailer parking. Of course there's a dumping station.
The park is well run with very friendly folks both in charge and camping. Bear lake is a small town within very easy driving distance from major tourist attractions like Sleeping Bear dunes, Traverse City and the cherry festival. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Well kept up. Clean. Owners very friendly and accommodating. Very centrally located to casino, Sleep Bear Nat'l Lakeshore, fish hatchery, canoeing, kayaking, horseback riding, Interlochen, and Traverse City. Family friendly. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Great RV Kampground! We love this place. Great for kids and pets. Our children love the pools, playgrounds, horseshoes, shuffleboard, basketball, fishing, swimming and bike riding! You can come here and not have to leave...although there is plenty of things to do nearby. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and the entire place is spotless. We've camped here many times and will continue to come back. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very good value with Passport America. We came in expecting more of a family / kids type campground, but had a nice quiet two day mid-week stay. The front section near the pool was all paved and the pull-through sites were setup so that every other site goes in one way and the site between goes the other way. So if you have someone in the site next to you, they are actually behind you. This gives the effect of having an empty site next to you all the time. Very roomy, mostly grass sites with concrete runners to park on. TV via batwing was OK, we had NBC and CBS both coming in good, ABC and others were too weak to watch. Wi-Fi was very good, but it was quiet. Verizon cell and broadband were very good. Overall a very nice quiet area to stop in and we enjoyed our two days here. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This campground has long spacious sites. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The only negative might be the gravel roads. We would stay at this campground again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
