Clean park. Nice trees and shady sites along a canal that runs through the park. Some smaller lakes. Office staff very nice as were the other campers and long term campers. Park is very clean and pretty scenery. Sterling State Park is close by and has a great beach area. Nice area around park to walk your dog. Good power, water, etc. We were here a week and were very happy. Wal-Mart, Kohls, Applebees, close by. We would definitely return. I wouldn't call it a destination park, but there many people who fished Lake Erie staying here. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Friendly staff. Large sites. Clean grounds. Very expensive even with the Good Sam discount. Felt more like a trailer park rather than a campground. No organized activities. Many long term live-ins. Freight train whistles and track noise every 2-3 hours, even at night. Air traffic from Detroit Metro Airport is constant. Rules not enforced such as the long-termer at site 88 tying a barking dog to the picnic table at site 87 for over an hour; motorized dirt bikes being driven by adults w/o helmets; unfenced personal 3-foot deep swimming pools at two long-termer sites. Loud-speaker church services with music blasted from the picnic pavilion starting at 9:30 on Sunday morning. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed over Memorial day weekend and found it a very pleasant experience. Many permanent, but most were well kept. Friendly staff. Had a breaker problem and was fixed within 30 minutes. Pleasing to the eye. We camped here in a Motorhome.

There are few campgrounds to be found in this part of Michigan so if you need one you may have to stay here as we did. It does have a pretty setting and has potential. If you get a pull through, you will be in the RV and excess materials storage area, so a back-in is better. Avoid using the bathrooms: my wife said the women's bathroom was really bad. Also the washing machine wouldn't drain from the prior user. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This RV Park was really quite nice. The scenery was quite spectacular. The Park Associates were very helpful. We did not have the proper sewer hook up. The Camp provided what we needed. I was taking my trash to the dumpster and an associate met me en route and volunteered to take my trash to the dumpster for me. My only complaint, if I can call it that, was the extremely long run for the PVC Sewer Line connection. In order to drain the sewer line completely I had to physically elevate it 2-3ft, in order for it to drain properly. Needless to say...it was kind of messy. There are train tracks that run close by that can be kind of noisy. All and all my wife and I enjoyed a very pleasant stay at this park and will stay again We camped here in a Motorhome.

This was a very nice park. Its entrance is very nicely landscaped. The grounds were clean and well maintained. The site were very large compared to most probably 50x100 or so the Wi-Fi worked great. The only negative was that the train track is pretty close by but not extremely loud. The manager was very nice and helpful. I would return here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Pretty campground. We stayed next to the canal with flowers, lots of ducks and their souvenirs. The campsites were big and spacious. The staff was friendly and helpful. The showers were small and muggy. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Scenic park with water front sites on canals. Water fowl is plentiful. The ownership and management is working hard to make it a great park. The roads and sites are gravel. We would stay again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

A series of canals, ponds and small lakes are part of this campground. That helps make it very scenic. The two brick bridges and the landscaping also help the appearance. The building that houses the office and restrooms/showers looks almost new. The showers and bathrooms were very clean. It was quiet and the staff was very friendly. Those are the good things. The sites that backed up to the water were very nice. The others seemed a little dumpy; including the pull-throughs. We were in one of the pull-throughs on the north end of the campground. The view out the back of our rig was of trailers in storage, and grass that badly needed to be cut. The Wi-Fi signal was a little weak. Had we been closer to the main building, maybe it would have been stronger. The only restrooms and showers are located in the main building. It was a long walk from our campsite. The sites on the west side of the campground were even further away from the restrooms as there was no bridge on that side to get over the canal. If you camp here, you have to walk (or drive) all the way around. They advertised a "playground." It consisted of two swings and a slide. The framework of which was very weathered and unpainted wood. It didn't look very safe or appealing. It was located at the extreme south end of the property, probably a quarter-mile walk from the nearest campsite. Still, it was clean and quiet. A nice place if you're just looking to rest and enjoy your camper. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Very scenic campground with a stream running through and around. Every lot has a grand view of the water and assorted water fowl. These owners have made, and continue, many improvements in the last few years transforming a mud hole into a lovely park. Laundry and restroom facilities are very nice. Price reflects Good Sam discount on a premier (waterfront) site. Water could be a large pond or a canal that flows through the park. Nearly half the sites are on the water. When I review a park, I try to always start with an excellent score of 10 and discount shortcomings. This park is really nice with all the water. HOWEVER, I have to discount certain areas: There are many long term residents throughout the campgrounds. Construction workers and laid off factory workers from all over that have come to the area to work. No problem with this but many sites have oversizes propane tanks and lots of outside furniture lying around - some neat and some not so attractive. Secondly, the showers and toilets are superficially clean but behind doors and around corners there are too many spiders, cobwebs and just plain dirt! Basically, they were very dingy (deep down dirty). Wi-Fi works if you are close enough to the office and there is no cable television. Between Toledo and Detroit stations, however, many channels are available but none of the standard cable channels. No camp store and only yesterday's newspapers. Very nice and helpful workers - campworkers. Many residents are electricians, welders, and other skilled workers so if you need to have some work done on your trailer, this is certainly a place to be! Lots of very friendly folks willing to assist whenever and wherever needed. A very comfortable campground. If you can live with it's shortcomings, you will find this an extremely nice place to stay. You'll love listening to the ducks 24 hours a day! We camped here in a Motorhome.

Beautiful park with nature right out your door thanks to a stream with fish, ducks, and frogs that surrounds you. No mosquitos. Hosts very nice, laundry room inexpensive, showers absolutely wonderful! Walmart and Lake Erie close by and within 40 miles of huge must-see attractions; The Henry Ford museum, Greenfield Village, and the Ford Rouge truck plant tour in Dearborn. Very good wifi. I would definitely stay again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice and very clean. It is surrounded by water, however they sprayed for mosquitos which made it pretty bug free. Not really a place for swimming. Also, if you have a dog make sure it is nature tolerant because every duck, goose, swan, etc. in lower Mi. seems to stop in there (my Pomeranian got used to it pretty quick though) The bull frogs are out after dark and it is really cool to hear them croak back and fourth. This place is really nice if you love nature and can live without swimming. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Campground is under New Management, and are making repairs and modifications to the Campground. There are a number of long-term campers there, but the campground was clean, and the staff really friendly. Lakeside sites were $35, others are $25, and there is 50 Amp service at every site now. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is a very nice park justifiably named a Resort. Very clean restrooms showers and grounds. Rate given is the PA rate which is half off. We stayed 2 days and used the very large clean pool. Some road noise from I-75 and close by trains but my ear plugs did their job. I would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This a terrific CG. We had planned to go to another one which we liked a lot but friends suggested we try Harbortown. It is ideal for over night such as us because of its proximity to I-75. Huge, clean and neat sites and great service at check-in. Wi-Fi was very good. There is lots of space to walk/run your dog. Open skies make for lots of sunshine. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

WARNINGS: 1. The RV park is located next to RxR tracks with operational trains going by every 30 to 45 minutes. 2. If you must get here on I-75, it is important to note that the interstate is in awful shape-- beyond punishing, it is destructive!! 3. Monroe epitomizes the rust belt-- it is a very crappy town. Those items aside, the RV park itself is extremely nice and would rate a 9 or 10 if not for the facts listed above. If you are not bothered by the horrible trip to get here, by the trashy town and by the trains, then you should like it here. If not, then this is a place to avoid-- which we will do in the future. I'm very thankful that this campground stays open year round. On the way back from Florida, I needed a place to stay while my mother was in the hospital. The folks are friendly, the water is heated so using at the site is fine and the park is an easy in/easy out situation. Sites are level and plenty big for our 45' coach. We've also been here in the summer and it is a fun park especially if you have kids. Close to Detroit and suburbs with easy freeway access. WiFi worked well. We will definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is Passport America rate which is good for 2 nights. Very clean and well kept park. Blacktop roads, paved sites. Cable TV and good electricity. We would return again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Campers at this park do not follow the park rules. Big dogs chained up to the trees, people walking through occupied sites, 2 and 3 cars per site and the disregard for quiet time. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Very, very nice. Everything clean, well kept, and friendly. Couple young girls in office were in need of adult supervision. Overall all staff were professional and courteous. Park appears young as shade trees haven't matured. Would definitely return - hopefully when temperatures are lower. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We were looking forward to this park and it was great! Check in was fast and easy. The staff was very friendly. Our site was very nice with plenty of room. It has young trees so satellite reception was easy but not much in the way of shade. The pool was very nice with a nice little snack shop right by the pool. They had plenty of activities for the kids. Next to the campground are a miniature golf course, batting cages, go cart track, and arcade, as well as the activities planned by the campground. There are trains that are close and you do hear them but it didn’t bother us. My only complaint was spotty Wi-Fi. I had a great signal but it was very, very slow at times. Other than that we had a great time, we will definitely be back. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Nice place, great for families. Nice pool, rec. area next door. Easy access to all sites with either a pull-through or back-in. Decent little golf course next door to play a round. Easy access off of I-75 and about 30 minutes south of Greenfield Village. Large number of individualized restrooms/showers are very clean. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here for two days mid-week. Although there are some pull-thrus, most are back-ins. About half are FHU and half are W&E. We had FHU back-in with 70 channel cable TV. The free WI-FI worked well at our site near the office. The pool area is very nice but probably crowded on summer weekends. We did hear the trains and understand some of the prior complaints. There are a lot of seasonals, so I would call ahead for reservations in the summer. This is fairly expensive park and the sites can be a bit tight for big rigs. It is well run with good facilities and amenities. It is a very family friendly park and has plenty to keep the kids busy. There is also a mini-golf, go-cart, and batting cage operation across the street from the park. What used to be dozens of outlet stores at this I-75 exit is now just a handful of shops. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The ad in Woodall's for this campground always looked inviting. The reality is the amenities are many but the sites and roadways are way too narrow for big rigs. Our four slides are intruding on our neighbors. Leaving will require a less than 90 degree turn in either direction so we're not sure how this is going to work. There are trains nearby but didn't disturb my sleep. The Wi-Fi is spotty so I'm using my own. I doubt we would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Campground has lots of activities for children. Stayed on a 50 amp pull through site which had a concrete driveway, grassy site with picnic table and fire ring. Nice family campground. One downside was a lot of train noise in the rear of the campground. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This campground DOES qualify as a resort. The pads are all concrete. The road is asphalt and there are NO potholes. The roads are wide and the sites are long. We had NO issues getting in or out. All the pads are LEVEL. The restrooms and showers are new, if not, they are so well maintained you would think so. Folks have commented on the trains. We heard the trains and an occassional whistle, but this was not an issue. There are lots of children's activities and the pool looked great. We visited The Henry Ford in Dearborn both days and used this as a base. We would definitely come back and spend more time in the area at this GREAT RV Resort. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This park gets excellent reviews. I agree with them if you have children who can take advantage of the pool, batting cages, mini-golf, etc. The spaces themselves are too narrow to allow for a "10". You are out in the open with the next camper within a few feet if they use their entire campsite. People are friendly, kids are very active, and some rules are not followed (i.e., more than one vehicle at the campsite was pretty common, making it seem more crowded). We like a scenic spot. Although well maintained, it is not a "sit and drink in the view" type of campground. We would probably not camp here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We were here when it was cold and early in the season. We had reserved a pull-through site, but when we got there they didn't have one and we were assigned a back-in site which is difficult with a 40 ft fiver. Only after we found an open pull-through were we able to get what we originally reserved. Other than that this is a first class RV park with all the amenities. We enjoyed our stay, but would have liked this park to be closer to Detroit. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Very nice campground, the sites are paved and level, the staff was very nice, the showers were very clean, and the bathrooms were very clean. I would have given this campground a 10 rating, but there was a train that came thru the back of the campground about every half an hour. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a great kid-family RV park! We were here to visit a friend who lives in Detroit, but our visit landed on the same weekend the park celebrates Halloween. It looked like a lot of fun, even though we don't have any kids (only the furry kind). We were sorry to miss out on all the fun. Our fellow campers, while obviously making the most of the occasion, were all really well-mannered, good neighbors. It was a busy place though, so if you're looking for peace and quiet, you might want to see what's on their calendar first. The person I talked to on the phone for reservations and then saw in person for checking-in was OK, but wasn't the friendliest or most helpful I've come across. And there was train noise, as the tracks run alongside the campground. As other reviewers have noted, the FHU sites might have less train noise as they are farther away (but not a lot). We were in the middle section. Water pressure was good and high. And do beware if you're camping here anytime soon (mid-October.) The SB on-ramp and NB exit are both closed on the I-75 and we saw major pile-up of traffic SB on a Saturday morning! We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stay in this park every year. It is one of our favorites. All roads are paved and sites are concrete with grass in between. Upon checking in with a friendly staff we advised them we needed an easy in and out site as we were in a 45' coach and towing. When we got to the site we could not get in due to a tree. We unhooked and were assigned one site over which we got into fine. Sites are wide enough for any size rig with any number of slides. Each site has a table. Utilities are modern and well placed. The WiFi worked great from our site and was free. Park is very clean and only the trains in the distance break the silence. They have a hotel quality pool with plenty of pool furniture. We will revisit park. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This was a great place to stay. It was very clean and the staff was very friendly and always available. The sites are concrete and most were level. The roads were paved and lined with street lights for night time walking. Three or four railroad tracks were located to the rear of the property. If you are in the full hook up area, the train noise is minimum. If you are located in the water/electric area, be prepared to listen several times a day and night to the 1 or 2 mile long trains. Other than the trains noise, this place was great. We will stay here again when we pass through this area. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We will visit again for sure! I loved the fact that the pool had two shallow ends for the kid's. Everything was so clean and the staff was VERY nice and helpful. The go-kart and mini golf course next door had GREAT prices. The only thing I did not like is there is no security gate: anyone can drive in off the road! Otherwise a GREAT GREAT campground! I would recomend it to family and friends! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Lovely campground, clean, well kept. Easy driving with a big rig. In the winter they have a whole front section with heated water lines. Flat, even concrete pads. Will certainly come back in warmer weather. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a kids playground as the park has many activities and amenities (for a price) offered. I would recommend reservations as not all sites have full hook-ups and the back of the park has train tracks beside it. The sites are mixed with some being rather close and others having adequate space between sites. All roads and sites are paved and reasonably level. WIFI was weak except near the office. The park was very clean and well kept but could utilize some security as quiet hours were ignored. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is just about the perfect park in my opinion. The WiFi was a little weak but usable. Sites were cement and the trees were few and not in the way of the satellite dish. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Great park with long,level, concrete spaces. Clean, cool restrooms and showers. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Wi-Fi was a tad weak even thought we were 3 spaces from the antenna. This park is very, very clean! They take great pride in their resort and you often see workings cleaning and collecting trash. Some sites are narrow we find the back-in sites to have the most room. They have great kids activities and it is very family focused. There is a Fun Park connected to the park with Mini-Golf and Go-Carts in addition to a 18 Hole Golf Course. Great RV is you like the resort style this is not woodland camping. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We were lucky to have the section we stayed in to ourselves, because the sites are close together. We enjoy this campground, and will stay often. One thing I wish they would add, a hot tub. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

Nice air conditioned bathhouse and laundry room and game room that we enjoyed in the unusual Michigan heat. Nice staff who helped with directions to local spots. The mini golf and all are extra but pool is free. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Park was very clean and the managers were attentive to the needs of the guests. Would have given it a higher rating but the wireless internet was weak and had hard time connecting. Excellent stopping spot - long pull throughs - a little expensive if you are past the winter rate ($42. summer rate) - we usually stop there on our way home very convenient - friendly and lots of room. We camped here in a Motorhome.

A clean tidy place with friendly staff. We took a paved pull through site with grass patch with the normal table. Facilities were good and site is handy to shops, fuel, restaurants etc. The kids loved the place - they go to a lot of effort here with lots of activities for the kids. We were very unhappy with this place! They are money sucking leeches! The only thing that didn't cost money was using the restroom! Everything else cost an arm and a leg. With all the activities they have, we thought our family would have lots of fun, but it only lasted as long (or little) as our money did! The owner was unfriendly and not hospitable at all! They had toys for the kids to play with in the pool and wouldn't even let them use them. This was our first and last visit. The best part of our vacation was leaving here!!! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice park. Easy access for big rigs with pull throughs or slanted back ins. Close to interstate. Paved parking pads with grass in between. No shade trees yet ( young trees) so satellite worked well. Daily trash pick-up, ice pool. Fast food ( Taco Bell, Burger King, etc.) right next door & down town Monroe only 2 miles away. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

What can you say, this place is about as good as it can get. Ultra clean. Beauitful facility. You can tell a lot of thought went into the layout. Management was very helpfull. We were there with a group of about 25 rigs and they did an excellent job taking care of our needs. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Park is very new and has modern facilities throughout. Roads are paved and wide. All sites have paved pads that are angled to the road for easy back-in. All full-hookup sites have 50 amp electrical service available. Shower and bathroom buildings are very clean and well lighted. Next door to the park is a go-cart and mini-golf facility that has a large game room that is popular with the kids. This park does have one detraction ... CN and CSX both have train tracks that run alongside the campground. These tracks are heavily traveled (train every fifteen minutes or so day and night) ... they don't bother me but if you are a light sleeper the train whistles may keep you awake at night. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Stayed here on my way back from North Shore, took my reservation over the phone, had my site ready when I rolled in just before dark. All sites are level or nearly so. Plenty of shade and grass, excellent layout as well. Shower building was well kept. Only drawback was is camp is located next to I-35 but is 2 miles from nearest exit. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We were not impressed at first and were initially disappointed that there were so few trees. However, after staying there a little while, we were quite pleased. We did not miss the trees. They would have blocked the view of the lake anyway. There is a lot to do and see here. We enjoyed our stay and will go back. It is quite windy at times though. We couldn't keep the awning up long. We stayed over Memorial Weekend, very nice park. Would of gave it a 10 but no trees for shade, but didn't them them this weekend. Was surprised how quite it was with all the kids there. Will go back again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We pulled into this campground and drove right back out. I was excited about the proximity to home plus having a lake view site. To my surprise this "state park" was more like a parking lot. Once we found our site next to us was about 15 adults cursing and shouting with a mile high pile of wood. We immediately went to Harbor Town RV Resort and had the best trip of the summer. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

One of the nicer camp grounds in Michigan. Great for Walleye fisherman that want to pull a boat and do some great fishing. Fishing cleaning station and parking for 400 boats. Great nature trail that is roughly 3 miles of paved walkway. During the busy times of year staff seem to have trouble keeping the bathrooms clean. Prepare for a good amount of wind off of Lake Erie. Well worth the trip. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This park has huge sites, excellent hook-ups, reliable electricity. Sites are well maintained. It was quiet (might not be true on busy weekends, but we were here mid-week.) Has friendly staff; trails for biking, running, walking, and bird watching. It is a park mainly for people who want to fish on Lake Erie. This is our second stay in this park and we would come again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Good pull throughs, big rig OK, clean. Gets bad on weekend. Many weekenders who do not follow rules for quiet time and watching their kids. Park rangers no help. Go to Harbortown to be safe. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Sterling State Park is a nice place to stay, though they're more strict than other campgrounds are. We've been sitting out at 11pm around a campfire, and told we need to go to bed, it's past 10pm. One car per lot, even if one is a handicap visitor. Other than that it's great. It's now on the lake, not much shade, but is fairly new as it was recently built. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This park was very refreshing! It had hiking trails, fishing, swimming, etc. We came here after leaving Harbortown RV Resort where we were very dissatisfied! My kids didn't say they were "bored" even once! Now that's an accomplishment! We will definitely visit this park again!!! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We were in a pull through site, #161. Unfortunately that site floods when it rains hard, we had 2-1/2 to 3 inches of water under our camper. The ranger couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. He dug a hole, put a bucket and pump in the bucket and pumped the water across #160 to the drain. It took about 2-1/2 to 3 hours but our site no longer had standing water. I talked to him about the park. This park was re-done and re-opened in 2003. They raised the campground about 11 feet and the causeway to get to it to offset some problems they had with flooding. And, yes they had to remove all of the trees in the campground other than those just off of the beach otherwise the trees would have died raising the ground that far. We camped here in a Truck Camper.

They charge an extra daily fee of $8 to drive in and they don't tell you about until you arrive and can't get a refund of your reservation anymore. The restrooms stank to the high heavens, the shower never completely turned off and the beach was very dirty. There are no trees throughout the campground and they appear to have no plans to grow any more. The view to the south is of the Ford steam towers, and to the north is of the nuclear towers. We never found the playgrounds until on the way out, which were at least a half-mile away. But if you are a boater this is probably a perfect campground as there is great access to Lake Erie and you'd care very little about other amenities on the campground. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

This park was nice when the old campground was still being used, but since they rebuilt and moved the campground closer to the lake, its not as nice. There are no shade trees. The beach was so dirty, I wouldn't let my dog swim in the water. You also get the noise and smell from Monroe Edison, and don't plan on using your awning, the wind is so strong it would probably rip it off. Only plus is they have good fishing and alot of biking and hiking trails. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Nice large sites right on Lake Erie. We paid $22 a night, plus $6 each for the car and RV. Not sure how they worked that. Site rate should include the RV. It worked out to $62 for two nights for an electric only site. This is high for a state park, but it was very clean. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Very nice state park with large paved level sites. Many site have a view of Lake Erie. All of the trees are new and there is no shade. Several miles of paved bike/walking trails. They advertise that there is WiFi, but there is none. You must pay an extra $8 a day or purchase a annual state park pass for $29 (for out of staters). If you plan on staying in Michigan State Parks for more that 3 days, you save a little and more if you use the pass more. This park is a great location if you plan on visiting Detroit or Toledo as it is halfway between them. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a nice setting on Lake Erie with very nice views. Some sites are full hookup and some are electric only. We had electric only. Site was paved and level with good views. However; Michigan State Parks are not out of state friendly. Our electric only nightly site rate was $22 for the site + $8 for the RV + $8 for the toad = $38 per night + $8 for the reservation. I will never stay in or recommend a state park in Michigan again! We camped here in a Motorhome.

Visited park in 40' motorhome. Park is very big rig friendly and offers full hookups or electric/water. Most sites are very long, wide and level. Each site has a table & fire ring. Utilities were modern and well placed. A large beach available on Lake Erie. All roads and sites are blacktop & in good condition. Since park is rather new there are no mature trees, which makes it satellite friendly. Bathrooms were modern. The grass had been cut throughout park except in full hookup area where it was a foot high. Check out is 11 am and check in is 3 pm so there is time to mow sites when not occupied. Trash is a problem in this park. Trash was visible in every site. I picked up a bag of trash from my site--most was in the fire ring. There are no dumpsters in the campground. Instead they are in the day use area. This obviously contributes to people leaving trash on site rather than taking the long trek to a dumpster. We walked to the dumpster and found it overflowing with trash and placed our bags next to it. We felt this situation was unacceptable. We felt this park is way overpriced--a full hookup site is $37 plus $8 day use fee for motorhome and another $8 for towed vehicle. For this type of money we expect a much nicer and better maintained park. We were very disappointed and will not revisit this park. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Pull through sites very long, we could of parked 2 of our RV's in the site! We camped here in a Motorhome.

A wonderf ul place to stay. The pull-throughs were enormous! Naturally, it became quite crowded on the weekend, but during the two weeks we stayed it was very quiet during the week days. Excellent accessible beach and gorgeous views of Lake Erie. WiFi is supposed to be available next year, even though it is advertised as having it now. We would love to stay here again. Easy access to the interstate to drive into the Motor City and visit the Henry Ford, Motown, or whatever. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a new park with wide sites, some with lake front views. For the most part, I really like this park, however my check-in experience has left a foul taste in my mouth. Michigan State parks do not seem to be out-of-state friendly. And it's a shame too. We called early the morning of check-in to see if we needed reservations. We were told that there were plenty of spots available and no reservation was required. We arrived during the ranger lunch period, there was no site availability map so we picked a nice FU site with a view of Lake Erie. We set up camp including setting out the party lights on the awning. We went back to the ranger station only to find another couple being told that they'd have to move because the park was booked up (you couldn't tell this by looking). This couple had also been told that no reservations were needed. The ranger was unhelpful and pointed us to the corporate office. We drove there and were told that they showed that there were plenty of sites. Finally after quite some time, we were given a partial hookup site while the other couple decided to leave. This site was nice, closer to the lake, but everyone and their brother cross through your site to get to it. We were charged a reasonable rate for the site but then other fees were tacked on. $8/night out-of-state fee for the toad. Fine. THEN we were charged an additional $8/NIGHT vehicle fee for the RV! Shouldn't this have been included in the camping fees? We could have camped at a nearby KOA for less... and that's saying something. After all this was said and done... the site we were in originally was never occupied! The ranger was unpleasant, the prices for out-of-staters were outrageous and we will never go to another Michigan State park. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We really liked this campground, especially for a State Park. We liked having sewer hook-up, nice playground, the beach was huge, and the kids really enjoyed playing in Lake Erie, even though it was kind of cold outside. We also really enjoyed biking/jogging on the paved paths throughout the park. The sites were huge and the guests were not rowdy. The restrooms were nice with clean, private showers. Because there aren't many trees and the proximity to the Lake, it was very windy. We didn't care for the power plants nearby, but the park was so peaceful and relaxing, we forgot about them. We look forward to another trip to Sterling. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The sites are large and it's a treat to have full-hookups at a state park. The layout of the campground was such that it invited lots of people walking through your sites. The bathroom/shower facilities are in the middle of it all and paths to it are few and far between. There are two powerplants nearby. One is nuclear, and the other isn't. The one that isn't makes a weird noise 24/7 that drove us crazy. Good as it is, we won't go back simply for the proximity to these plants. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This park is brand new in 2003. Right on the lakeshore of Lake Erie. Full size launching facility for boaters. There is plenty to do with miles of paved bike trails and nature walks. A beach that is maintained as well as can be expected from a large lake. This is a beautiful Michigan State Park! The only thing missing is the shaded sites. All sites are paved and large enough for your slide outs or boats. Don't forget to bring your bikes,scooters or rollerblades. Fishing poles are a must! We camped here in a Motorhome.
