This private campground is within approximately 1/2 mile of Whitewater State Park and provides an alternative with a swimming pool and the waterfront within easy walking distance of the campsites. The campground straddles the Whitewater River. The two banks are joined by a footbridge, with separate road access to each side. Many sites are right on the waterfront, with others being but a stone's throw away. A medium-sized outdoor pool, a store with a modest inventory, a shower building, and a museum housing the owners' collection of carriages, buggies and related ephemera complete the grounds. Approximately one third of the RV sites are occupied by seasonal or monthly campers. A few of these have sewer connections, but in contrast to the listings in some publications, sewer connections are not available to campers staying for less than a season. The RV sites all have water and electric. The sites are, generally, level, about 40' wide, and 50' deep or more. There are no pull through sites. There is good tree cover with most sites in partial shade throughout the day. The staff and facilities are overwhelmed during peak holiday periods when the campground is occupied to full capacity. The campground was flooded several years ago. Travelers should keep the possibility of flash floods in mind due to the proximity of the river. The staff arranges various activities for guests. We did take advantage of the trail rides, which were well organized, on time, and on truly enjoyable terrain. The horses provided for these rides were however well into their autumn years and the artless dunning for tips at the conclusion of the ride was unexpected and detracted from our memory of the experience.
