Our second stay here. We found it clean, the staff friendly, and our site was nice and level. Wi-fi was slow, but adequate for our needs. There's a large pet walking area, which was nice but could use a trash container. Lots to see and do in the area. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Services worked well including Wi-Fi and cable. Level pull-through gravel site. Only negative we encountered would be the need to do some cutting of limbs that made it a little tight getting into our site. Stayed two nights and would definitely stay here again when next in area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
A bit too expensive for what it is. The park is well maintained, the owners seem to be on the ball and trying hard. Utilities at the sites work well and the sites are spacious. The Wi-Fi is just weird, when you check in they print out a receipt with a user name and password. Both of these are impossible to remember and a pain to type in. If you try to access the Wi-Fi with a different computer or device you can't do it. The access code is only good for one computer and only good for one day. Way too much trouble for something that should be free and easy to use. The store is the best I've seen at a RV park, great selection of little things you might need, Fuses, bulbs little connectors things you'd normally see at a well stocked RV parts store. I'd stay here again but would have to think twice based on the price. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The new owners are working hard to bring this park up to their standards. Check in was easy and when guided to our site, found the branches in the way of one of the slides. The owner went and got a trimmer and removed the branches and made sure they wouldn't rub. Not many places will do that. The grounds are extremely clean and a nice feature is that this is a gated park. If you don't have the code, you don't get in after hours. Nice for peace of mind. If I ever get back this way, I would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This campground is gated, clean, and quiet. The lady that checked me in wasn't too friendly. The campground was pretty empty at this time of year. When I asked if we could have a site where the trees would not block our rooftop satellite, she said more than once that there are no guarantees. She also commented that we are supposed to be camping, which I didn't appreciate since that is not our situation. The gentleman that escorted us to our site was very helpful and friendly. The pull-through was long, level, and wide with grass between sites. The bathrooms and showers were clean, but there was little light in the showers. The laundry room looked clean, but had a strong odor of mildew. They charge $3 per child even though the pool and game room were both closed. Overall, price is too high but nice campground. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Highest rate we paid on a 39 night journey. Site was gravel back in. Hookups not very convenient. Staff were nice, but free breakfast consisted of cereal, and bread for toast, along with coffee. There wasn't anything really bad about this park, but I would expect more for the rate charged. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Very friendly staff! We had all the services you would would want. The sites were roomy and even had fire pits. The place is well kept and we had to look hard to find any kind of garbage. We stayed for two nights, and we would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This was a nice park, for a KOA. The sites were comfortably spaced and easy to access. The staff was helpful and friendly and the park was clean and obviously well cared for. We spent four nights and enjoyed exploring the area. The trip to the Big Bog was a let down but the trip to Itasca State Park and the headwaters of the Mississippi was great. The little town of Bemidji, where the park is located, was a pleasant one with a very nice visitor's center. We would return to this park. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Having a KOA Value card, this is one of the worst KOA's we've visited. We were greeted promptly, however we were escorted to our site in the wrong direction. The campground host had to remove the site post in order for me to squeeze in. The site was tight and for the amount charged per night, one would expect to have enough room to extend the awning. Not here. I doubt we will stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is a good campground. We did have WIFI at our lot, but only had electric. We have paid the same rate at other campgrounds and had all services. The dump station is just after the office instead of on the way out. We stayed here because it was the only campground in the area that suited our purpose for the night. Staff was friendly. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is our first time here in 3 years and this continues to be the best park in the area that has what we are looking for: Full hook ups, cable, WIFI, and a pool. As previously noted not all sites are big rig friendly and the gravel roads can cause a lot of dust in dry times. Although the customers seemed to be quite good about driving slowly to keep the dust down and the kids safe, some of the work campers did not do so as they whipped around in their golf carts performing their duties. The worst offender (a 60+ fellow from WY) also broke another rule - no running of generators. He had a large generator on the back of his pick-up truck with a "For Sale" sign on it. His site was across the road from mine and, as I tried to read and relax outside in the middle of the day on the Saturday of our stay, he started the generator 3 times in a 2 hour period and ran it for as long as 35 minutes one of those times. During that running, he and another yellow shirted work camper fiddled with the generator. Knowing that the owners were at their other KOA in Indiana, who was I going to complain to - one of the offending work campers wives in the office? I will be sending an e-mail to the owner about this incident. Nice park, but inconsiderate work campers who believe the rules are only for customers. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Once again we're at a KOA camp that likes to charge top dollar but will not re-invest to provide facilities that match that price. This time it is the roads. Thankfully it did not rain otherwise we would have been ankle deep in mud. Roads and sites are just dirt. If any road-base were ever laid it has long gone. Many of the sites had the water/sewer/elec/cable in a strange location - usually too far away. Most arrivals had problems and were shunting to hook up. We had to use the cable connection of the site next door. Cable is excellent - full channels and great reception (must be new). WiFi also great at site. Only 3 miles to town and just off the highway. Just got to fix those roads. PS Watch for the two little dogs at the entrance for walkers or bikers. They dearly want to bite you! We camped here in a Motorhome.
Owners were very friendly. Campsites a little small but cozy. Extremely kid friendly campground. Owner has a firetruck that he gives rides each night for the children. They had a $7 steak night when we arrived. Continental breakfast was free. I can't remember the rate we paid but was about standard for a KOA. We would stay again next trip thru. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I have stayed here numerous times over the years and this park has always delivered: decent sites, nice but small pool, good cable, and on site WIFI. The curent (maybe 7 years) have kept up with the times unlike some owners of older parks. Some of the sites may be a little small for big rigs but there were 5-10 in the park during my 3 day weekend stay. Roads and sites are gravel so there is the potential for dusty conditions. The park atmosphere is friendly and there can be a lot of kids during the summer. Enjoyed a nice "hunter's stew" dinner and a pancake breakfast but passed on the weenie roast. Nothing near the park but Bemidji's big shopping area is just 3 miles east on US 2. Good for overnight or a base camp for seeing northern Minnesota. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Lady running the campground was extremely nice. Very well taken care of and clean. Some sites are cramped for big rigs but they can get in. Definitely would stop again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
$25/night w/4 nights on PA discount – On Fox Lake with free use of paddle boats and other rentals available. People are nice and you pay as you leave, so you can run a tab if you like. You are about 15 minutes to town and the sights with plenty of shopping and restaurants. Roads are gravel and sites are grass some can be narrow – the seasonal people have the view of the lake and do not talk with overnight campers. There is a little road noise, but not much. Laundry was small with 2 washers and 2 dryers – there is a small boat launch and small fish cleaning shed next to the bathhouse. Wi-Fi worked well and the cable was basic – water pressure and electric were good, but they charge for AC I guess in the summer. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The well-kept and family friendly park offers level grass sites that are easy to navigate in spite of being very close together. Utilities were good, the park’s Wi-Fi and cable TV were reliable and AT&T phone/data signals were strong. The park has a lot of seasonal and permanent residents. There is a nice playground and beach; a canoe, kayak and paddle boat are available free to guests. The rate reflects a Passport America discount. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
I don't usually review parks that already have several recent reviews but this park deserves it. Friendly people, excellent value for the money, and sites that are pretty easy to get in and out of. Each site has a firepit of some kind, either in ground or above ground. The lake is a little weedy looking, but there were people out there enjoying the water. There are canoes etc., available to campers free of charge, a nice touch. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Wonderful, beautiful. We loved it. We had a lake front site with gorgeous views of Fox Lake. Friendly and helpful staff. Quiet and peaceful. Rate is Passport includes $3 for air conditioning. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Had no complaints so 10 is based on my experience; it was a great stay. Stayed over Memorial Day weekend (three nights) in a 24 foot rig. Got a great site with shade tree along the lake. (Only a few with shade along the lake, so I'd recommend requesting if they can accommodate.) Had a picnic table and fire pit. Convenient location; only 10 minutes quick and easy from Downtown Bemidji. Owners were on site, very friendly and helpful. Pet friendly. Campground is a mix of seasonal trailers with plenty of open sites that accommodated motorhomes, fifth wheelers and tent camping. All seasonal people we met were friendly. Credit Cards not accepted, so bring check or cash. Store had essentials. Would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Had site overlooking lake, beautiful for one night stand. Located few miles in country from town. Management friendly. When asked about RV club program discount rates, owner stated he gives all clubs same rate. Would stay again when passing through. Paid Passport America rate. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice park and nice owner. Marked a 7 because the sites are uncomfortably close for us. And, you pay when you leave and we were not told about the added charges when we checked in. So ask. We asked what it would be when we checked out, but that's not what it was. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice place to stop and relax. The sites are a bit on the crowded side. But the ones we had overlooked the lake. Great beach for the kids, pontoon rental was reasonable. Owner working in the office could not be a nicer person. If in the area we would not hesitate to come back. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is one of the secret campgrounds that you never hear about. Reasonable rate (4 days Passport America rate makes it even better), lakefront with a sand beach, boat docks and ramp, free use of paddleboats and great fishing. What else could you want? Clean and reasonable laundry room and bathroom areas. I saw no problem with large rigs getting in and out of the campground and it was nearly full. It did lack extra parking spaces and that was from a lot of vehicles parked in the roadway as a lot of campers had extra vehicles. Yes, lots of seasonals, wish I was one of them so I could come here often too. Owners are on site and involved from check in to check out, even checked with us to be sure everything was good with our site the second day. As we were leaving he even asked what he could do to improve the campground. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We used an Escapees discount for our stay. The spaces are all on grass and very tight for big rigs. The lakefront sites are taken by regulars and/or seasonals, but we had a narrow view of the lake from the pull-throughs. The bath house is old, but clean and the owners and staff are very friendly. We enjoyed the lake setting and the kids had a great time during our stay. We might not stay here again due to the tight maneuvering for our big rig. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
On balance, this is a great place to spend a few days. If you have kids and/or want to fish or boat, it's even better. The owners are very friendly and helpful, if a bit casual in the business end of things. They have lots of "extra" charges (for A/C, cable, etc.) but they just asked us what we had used and took our word for it (unlike many places, we paid when we left, not upfront). The pull through sites are a bit short for long rigs and are a bit too close together for my taste, but it's manageable. It does look like they have parking for a tow or towed vehicle in an "overflow" area but lots of people just parked partially in the road. The back-ins for short-term campers looked like they had a bit more room. We had to back into the empty site behind us to get out because of the rigs next to us and vehicles parked across the way. The weekend we arrived the place was packed with a heavy -- and loud -- partying crowd with lots of children running around pretty much unsupervised. This may or may not be a regular summer weekend occurrence, but it was much quieter and pleasant during the week. There are a large number of long-term people here; it looks like a regular summer or vacation spot for many. I'd definitely advise reservations, particularly if you're there over a weekend. We'd probably stay here again but would try to avoid weekends if we could. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We spent four nights here and really enjoyed the campground and the owners. They were extremely friendly and helpful. The overall facility was very clean and the bathrooms were spotless. The sites are close together which accounts for the 9 instead of 10, but overall, a great place to stay. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Completely relandscaped in the last three years. Wonderful large level sites with table and fire pits. All sites overlooked the lake. There are three boat docks for fishing. There is a roped swimming area. The campground has a small store where boats, kayaks and pedal boats can be rented. The owners run the store and take you to your site. There are some seasonal sites, all well kept. The restrooms were older but clean. We stayed three days. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Passport America rates are $15.00. These owners worked all day, every day to maintain the park. There are many seasonal campers. We stayed 11 nights and it was completely full one of those nights. We felt the charge for cable and A/C at $3.50 and $3.00 was a little high on top of the $30.00. Wi-Fi worked most of the time. Has a little swimming beach and an area to launch your boat. The lake has great fishing according to people we met. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a really nice park. The office staff are very friendly and they escort you to your sight. This is a Passport America park. Sites are almost level and grassy. This campground sites right on Fox Lake. We will camp here again if we're ever in this area again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a beautiful campground located on Fox Lake, north of Bemidji, about 10 miles. The campground has nice wide spaces with full hookups...not too many of those on water sites. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We'll definitely stay here again when we're in the area. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very nice staff. Clean restrooms / showers. Campground roads are narrow and care needs to be taken while pulling your trailer through. Dump station is difficult to get in to. Most campsites are very close together and offer little privacy. Very nice beach and boat docking area. Great access to bike trail. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Pro's: incredibly clean and well maintained. From fire pits emptied to dog waste pickup bags supplied. Lots of well maintained hiking trails. A short drive into town, yet still very rustic and natural. Very clean & modern washrooms. Fast Wi-Fi at our site. Wi-Fi from antennas on all washrooms and main building. Con's: narrow roadways. No privacy between sites. You WILL have bushes scrape the side of your unit. Some sites not well levelled. We stayed at site 66. Slight drop to rear of site. Some privacy. 35' accessible. Overall, a wonderful park. We will return. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Excellent campground run by friendly, professional people. Wi-Fi works great! Not too many sites for big rigs, but you can get in and out. Great place on a great lake. Super spot for a family vacation. Nice, clean swimming beach. We will definitely be coming back. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is a good state park campground. Paved roads to the State Park, dirt roads within the campground. Some tight corners for larger rigs, but we were fine in our 25ft TT. Quiet, private sites, not very level. Great trees. Managed to get a few DTV channels. Our Verizon phone and broadband worked fine. At $30/night including a $5 vehicle fee it is not a bargain, but we'd definitely come back. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This Minnesota Sate Park is located 6 miles north of town on the north shore of Lake Bemidji. We stayed here on a weekend in mid September and had the place to ourselves. The shower and restroom building looked look like it was brand new. The campground is walking distance to the lake. There is also access to the Paul Bunyan state bike trail. There is a paved bike trail around the entire lake and you can get to town by bike. Overall good experience, nice campground. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We got site 53 which worked well for our MH; many other sites would not (check with Ranger before reserving any). Restroom/showers in excellent condition. Hiking and beach were also excellent. We did not go swimming as ranger advised there was "Swimmer's Itch". Very few mosquitos here, it was very enjoyable to sit outside without being bitten or smelling like a DEET factory. But, for us, the very best part was the Park Naturalist who was awesome. He taught great courses about trees and lakes (including a most fascinating free ride on a pontoon boat into the middle of Lake Bemidji). Many activities in the amphitheater (musical groups, lectures, services on Sunday). This is one of our all-time favorite State Parks (and this was our first visit to it!). We camped here in a Motorhome.
The campground is very hilly so sites can be uneven. The sites are closer together than most Minnesota state parks. The campground is walking distance to the lake, a great beach, many planned naturalist activities, and access to the Paul Bunyan state bike trail. Overall good experience, nice campground. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Narrow sites for our three slides. Some pull-throughs. Had to back over grass to get into site because of proximity of pull-through and tree across from us. Nice bathrooms, cute and very clean. There is a room with tables for groups. There was an Adventure Caravan group there when we arrived. According to the owner, she books groups most of the season. There are lots of sites, though, so you should be able to get in without a reservation. Quite a few longterm rigs. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We stayed here a month in space 49. A really nice park. Owners are on-site and take excellent care of the grounds and fix problems quickly. Very convenient to shopping and restaurants in town (by car). Power and cable TV very reliable. Minor problem with water was quickly fixed. No Wi-Fi except at/near office. Some road noise, but not enough to disturb. As another reviewer said, some of the spaces are a bit tight, but it looks like they were laid out that way to preserve trees, and I'll take shade over space. Only two washers and dryers, but I never had to wait, so I guess that's enough. Rate shown is monthly and does not include electric (Note that this park is cash only/no refunds). We'll definitely return. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Park entrance is not well marked and a little difficult. Camp host/owners are very accommodating and sent us to the most unusual cheeseburger pizza place (a pizza with pickles, etc.) Interior roads are dusty. Sites are level and well spaced. We would return here. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a really nice park with lots of grass and trees. The sites are spacious and level. The owners are super nice and very involved in making sure the park is immaculate. The bathrooms are great and extremely clean. The sites were all leveled after being vacated. We had excellent cable and Wi-Fi at a spot near the office. Traffic noise was also not a problem. We would definitely return. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Level, long wide gravel sites. Nice and quiet park. Owner very pleasant to deal with. We couldn't receive Wi-Fi at our site either. Two washers and one dryer - although area was very clean. Bathrooms are impeccable. Would definitely stay here again! We camped here in a Motorhome.
As previous reviews, very nice CG. Good value. Mix of backin and pullthrough sites. Some backins over 70' long. All look easy to get into. Owner stated that Wi-Fi is available CG wide but did not see external router antenna anywhere. Wi-Fi good for sites around office and open. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very accommodating hosts. When I asked to move to a site other than the one assigned, she cheerfully changed the site assignment even though she was preparing for a busy holiday week-end. Cable TV was a nice convenience. The manager gave us a lot of sightseeing information in the area. Trees provide shade and a very nice setting and the central location here in Bemidji is very convenient. We would definitely stay here again. For us, 50 amp electric service would have rated this park higher. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very well maintained, very clean restrooms and on site personnel-no absentee ownership. Most pull thrus are 30 amp. Some transient workers and long term campers occupy sites but for the most part are pretty quiet. Interior roads are non paved, but very smooth. A new entrance into the campground maybe done in the Fall as Hwy 71 is being widened and will be about 150 yards further north from the present one. Very attractive campground with lots of Oak trees and even though it is near the freeway, it is quiet. I would definitely recommend this campground to anyone. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This was a very nice park with friendly management. The sites and roads were gravel and the sites had some grass, only a limited number of pull through sites. The sites were fairly close but adequate with lots of trees for shade. The restrooms/showers were very clean with music piped in. They had a nice group meeting room that was being used by a Good Sam Chapter which were having a good time. This park could have been a 10 but there was no pool. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a very nice RV park. Our back-in site had plenty of room and neighbors were 30 feet away. Cable TV was very nice. The manager gave us a lot of information on where to bike and kayak in the area. Trees provide shade and a very nice setting and the central location here in Bemidji is very convenient for seeing the area. We would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We enjoyed our stay here. This is a nice, quite campground with gravel sites. There are large over-head trees here, however we were able to receive dish reception. I would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
A no frills, quiet, clean campground. Near the highway, but noise was not an issue. Great WiFi, cable TV and great showers. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a nice park, and the staff is very friendly. It's very near the exit ramp off Route 2, and there is a little traffic noise from the trucks. The interior roads are gravel and a little dusty, but the sites are long and well shaded. This is a very convenient park if visiting the Bemidji area, and near to grocery, restaurants etc. I would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This was a nice, clean park with a friendly staff. It is a quiet park even though it is right next to the exit ramp from Route 2. The only reason I didn't rate it as a 10 is because of really dusty roads!! If this could somehow be addressed, this campground would be almost perfect! We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed here 4 nights over Memorial Day weekend. It is very convenient access from the highway. The owners were cordial. It was relatively quiet. The owners said it was the first Memorial Day in a long time that they were not filled up. Roads in the park are gravel. Wifi access was good most times and cable TV reception adequate. This is not a resort type place but worked well for us. We'd stay there again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Extra $2.00 for child and cash only. That should have told me what to expect right from the beginning. The site was very narrow. Just able to keep the table from sliding off the site and still get out the door. Nothing to keep the kid's interested. It was a nice ride to visit Itasca Park. We will try some other place next time. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
