This park has reopened under new ownership. New owners are doing a great job. They got rid of the geese mentioned in an unfavorable previous review. Friendly and accommodating. We were told to just select a site and they would come to us to sign us in. Rate represents Passport America discount which they accepted even though we were there over the Thanksgiving weekend. Roads are mostly dirt with too many pot holes. All sites are a combination of grass, dirt and gravel, and not level. Park was quite empty so plenty of space. If it were full, I think they would be a little close together. It's a beautiful property with plenty of trees, but most of the sites around the lovely pond were open enough for satellite. I could see they had a beautiful swimming pool, although it's off season and the pool is now closed. Very nice clubhouse. Free (yes free) laundry with 3 washers and dryers. Only negative was low water pressure. We would return. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We went to campground with our children and grandchildren on Aug. 28,2005. We were looking for a safe spot away from hurricane Katrina which was headed for our home in La. We had planed on a two day stay and had to stay for four weeks. Since we could not return home we helped out at the campground with cleanup of downed trees and blocked roads. It was not a vacation but we all worked together and had a wonderful time. People were here from many places and all were very friendly. We had a great time meeting and talking to everyone. The grandkids did not want to go home. We bring them back as often as possible to have fun. They really enjoy feeding the ducks. We camped here in a Motorhome.

By the time we got to the park, most of the debris from Katrina had been cleared. The sites are close together and there is no shade. The sites are about 1/4 miles down a dirt road from the office and are surrounding a lake. Since the road is not paved, you either have dust or mud. But it gets worse. There are ducks and geese everywhere and there is no way you can avoid getting excrement on your shoes, just getting from your vehicle to your rig. The ducks will bed down at night but the geese roam and if they decide to bed down by your rig, you will have them honking all night long and there is no way you can sleep through their noise. While we were there (for a few weeks) they had a sewer problem and black water was backing up out of the ground. A trench was dug where the sewer line ran but it was left open and since the problem was not fixed immediately, some campers drained their black water into the trench so you had human feces and paper floating in the water in the trench. The smell was bad enough, not to mention the health hazard. After some campers complained, the whole septic system was dug up and repaired. The pool area is in bad need of some improvements and a good paint job. There are park models there that the owners rent out to military from Camp Shelby in nearby Hattiesburg. The park has a leash rule for pets, but it is ignored. While we were there, a couple came in with two large Rottweilers. They allowed the dogs (who were not friendly) to run free and when a camper complained the owner told them to keep the dogs on a leash. The owners of the dogs would tie them up if they were inside but when they were sitting outside the dogs still ran free. One of the owners of the dogs was a small woman and there was no way she could have controlled the dogs if she needed to. But the worst part of this park is the owners themselves. They are unfriendly and basically seem to think they are doing you a favor letting you stay there. The park was full of contractors working on Katrina clean up so I guess they felt they could be choosy. The husband seems to be overwhelmed with the work that is necessary and the wife is just plain rude. If this was the only place to stay near Hattiesburg, we would park in a Wal-Mart lot before we ever stay there again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

As far as a "RV" campground this is a good park. The sites are well spaced and properly equipped by modern standards. However, the park does allow monthly and or seasonal parking. Some of the "Residents" have let things get quite messy! I would rate the park higher if not for the trash around some sites. The park is geared toward boating and enjoying the lake. There are very few trails and the park is a good distance from other attractions. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here for 3 months while working in the area. This is a wonderful quiet park, it got full on the weekends. We had a nice concrete, level spot overlooking the lake, which was great when the Bald Eagles came in. The staff kept it clean and mowed. We will come back for fun someday. Really enjoyed the solitude of this park. Did not want to leave and would have given it a ten if the laundry facilities would have been a little nicer. Beautiful park, some sites take a little maneuvering, but well worth it. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We camped at site #71 from 11/26-11/29/2009 and the site was beautiful. However, the bathrooms were overflowing and there was a horrible sewer smell in the evening. The garbage bin in our area was extremely full. It was a holiday weekend and the park was full but they should have been prepared for it. We camped here in a Motorhome.

A great place to stay and lay over if you have the time. Sites are roomy and everyone I met here are friendly. The fishing isn't bad either. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This park was very clean and the park has added 15 to 20 new very level, concrete pull through pads. These all had 50 amp, sewer, and a good view of lake. We stayed only one night and would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

A very nice park. Our site pad was on a small hill and not level but we knew that beforehand as it's stated on their website used for booking. I would recommend site 65 or 67 on the straightway section. We stayed at 67 which was beautiful and a great site if you have kids. If you stay on the straightway section, be prepared to use your RV bathrooms because it is a pretty good hike to the bath houses. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice park. Sites are situated around a lake and many have lake views. The park is easy to find and the roads leading in are easy to navigate. The personnel seemed ready to help. You have to be careful in booking your site as some are not very deep and if you have a big rig, you would be in trouble. The only thing that kept the park from getting a 10 were the laundry facilities and bath houses. Both are in serious need of updating. We had planned to do laundry, but the machines were full of grass,leaves and bugs! The looked like they had not been cleaned in a long time. Inside the bath houses the stalls were in need of painting and updating-- bare plywood does not cut it. Showers were small and not very clean. This could be a great campground with a little maintenance. We camped here in a Motorhome.

I had booked 1 of the pull-thru sites on reserve america and upon arrival the site was not acceptable. The pull-thru sites are nothing more than a field with hook-ups good only for over night. The staff was very helpful and gave me a transfer to a open site that I had selected with no charge. This is a very nice family park with plenty for the kids to do. Bathrooms were very clean and there was also laundry facilities. Most sites are either really good or really bad. Getting RV level is an issue and also so sites retained water. All sites are paved and have full hook up. We would stay again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

I made our reservation through Reserveamerica and when we got there our site had workers building a retaining wall. Office personnel were not aware of the work so we had to go back to the office to request a different site. We were lucky there were more available. Had this been in summer months I am afraid we would have been stuck without a site! Otherwise, park was nice. I can't say quiet due to the sawing and such associated with the building of that wall. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Very nice. Well maintained. Good place to take children. Lots of wide open areas for them to play. Park security was always noticeable. Fishing from bank was easily accessable. Big flea market across from entrance of park. Going back next month. Highly recommended. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

Pluses: spacious, all sites paved and clean. Sites are level on hillsides near a lake. Bathrooms and showers were clean. Roadways in the park made for great bicycling. Sites were shaded to semi-shaded. Back side of the campground (called "The Straightaway") is newer. It is quiet at night. Background highway noise from trucks on US Highway is too distant to be of concern. Minuses: a boil water notice was posted, but check in attendant did not advise us of it. We had to read it for ourselves long after we had drunk the water. There are many, many semi-permanent dwellers in this state park. A resident in the park told us that there was a six month limit, and to get around it, all one had to do was leave for a few hours, and the six month clock restarted. We found that odd for a state park. There was a lot of "semi-permanent" evidence around many of the RVs, lowering the overall feel of a public park. Overall, a nice park, but the state should examine the "length of stay" policy. We'd stay again, but would go to the back of the park, not the front two loops. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is a nice park. Priced at $18, $14 with senior discount, and not limited to residents of Mississippi. It is located on a 300 acre reservoir, and many sites are on the water or have water views. Many parks on a lake this size would allow oars, paddles, or sails only. This park allows ski boats and jet skis on the lower part of the lake while the upper part is a no wake zone, with a few fishermen and sailboats. All 125 sites have 50 amp power, water and sewer hookups, and all are reservable. Each site (except pull throughs) has a table and a BBQ grill. Camp fires are allowed; only a few sites had fire rings – others just built fires on the ground. Although most pads were fairly level, the land surrounding the pad was often on a slant. We were there the first weekend in May; sites were nearly full for the weekend, thinned out during the week. The campsites are in 5 sections. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Bathrooms and showers were adequate and clean. We saw a washer and dryer at one of the bathrooms. We would go there again. Campers, however, were the messiest we've seen anywhere; many of those who pulled out on Sunday ignored the dumpsters and left loose and bagged trash at their site or next to the (not full) dumpsters. One especially irresponsible person left a 30 gallon garbage bag of crawfish bodies on the ground next to a dumpster; animals tore into it and scattered it around the area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed 4 days and were very happy. Staff were very helpful and friendly. All sites have sewer now, not so in the 1980's when we camped there last. Newer sites have no shade and are smaller sites than the older ones. The restrooms, showers and laundry were kept clean and neat. The weather was very windy and thunderstorms coming in on or last day but that was the problem we had and you can not help the weather. We stayed on site 16 lakeside and next to the playground and a fishing pier out in the lake to a small island where the ducks were nesting. They would make a lot of noise when disturbed. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We camped here for three months while on a project, found the to be very nice and peaceful. It was always clean, the people at check in were not very friendly. The bath house near the back that has the washers and dryers is the nicest, it has been recently remodeled. They are nice site with plenty of shade and most are pretty level. We camped here the last weekend before school starts in southern MS so the park was full. Our 4 year old granddaughter was the only child in the section we were in though. She enjoyed fishing (playing with the worms) and splashing around on the beach. Our golden retriever enjoyed swimming in the lake too :) There are 2 beaches, several places to fish. The boating people are kept well away from the beach and fishing area. The people who run the park were helpful and pleasant. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

The park was very nice. Great place to stay for a couple of days. No swimming pool, but had a playground for the kids that was kept up pretty good. Not much space between sites and no privacy at all. The entire park was clean and trash picked each day by prisoners. The park attendants were not very nice, actually rude. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This place is huge. Many trails, bicycling road. All kinds of activities like frisbee golf, boating, fishing etc. Nice store selling snaks and fire wood. Shade is sparse, you can only get it for one side of your rig and its minimal at best. Pull thrus have no shade whatsoever. In September 02 the gate was not manned. You drive thru pick a spot and set up. The ranger comes around about 5 pm and collects your fee. I was told the park is full in the summer and on weekends. Highly recommended during off peak times. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We picked this park because it was listed as the only Good Sams Park in Hattiesburg. We arrived just at dusk and the office had already closed. We proceeded to find a spot and were met with horrible, bumpy roads; the spots were randomly numbered and impossible to figure out; it looked like people were living in tiny little campers permanently. The only positive about this park was it was right off the hwy. We probably would not stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This park in on a hill, but generally level. Sites are long and roads are wide with gravel. Electricity had good voltage and good water pressure. Lots of shade. There were some longtimers and older trailers, but they are spotty. We will return. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

The lady in the office was very nice. The place is pretty unkempt although the facilities at our site functioned just fine. This could be a pretty campground if it was given some TLC and some of the monthlies need to clean up their sites. The price was very reasonable at $22. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Stayed here overnight on the way to Destin. Manager friendly, left envelope out for our late arrival, and arranged for a pull through big enough for us to leave our truck hooked up. Park was OK for overnight stay but smelled like sewer and seemed to have a lot of longer term residents. Lots of nice trees but place seemed a little unkempt. Roads little rough with some washouts and parking spaces were not very level. Didn't really see anything wrong but did not feel as safe as we would have liked. Park was adequate for overnight stay but would not consider staying in it any longer than overnight. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This campground was torn up during hurricane Katrina in 2005 and the owners are new since Katrina. They are friendly, very nice and helpful. Our campsite was a little hard to level, but have had worse. There are a lot of people staying at this park who are evidently permanent, but we just stayed one night and the campground was full the night we stayed due to it being so close to town for functions, etc. There are a lot of pot holes in the paved driveways, but maybe it just takes more time to get everything back in order after such a terrible hurricane. There was nothing really wrong with this park, but probably would not stay here, again. We camped here in a Truck Camper.

We stayed for one night. Very pleasant and friendly staff. The staff arranged for us a site so we did not have to unhook our 21 foot toad. We would stay again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a great park for overnight or longer. Easy in and out sites, but there are some back-ins also. A very friendly staff. We had a long pull through with plenty of room. Did not use the facilities, but would stay here again and recommend. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Nice small park with very friendly owners. On the outskirts of town, yet close to all attractions. Hattiesburg has a nice zoo and a real "drive-in" theatre. The restrooms and showers were some of the nicest and cleanest that I have ever seen. Hook-ups are very new and most sites have 30 and 50 amp. All sites are pull through and have nice gravel pads, although some are pretty close together. Some sites have concrete patios and most sites have picnic tables. Individual sites did not have fire rings, but there were a couple of fire rings available around the park. There is a small pond for fishing. There is not a lot to occupy children in the park, but the park makes a nice base for exploring the Hattiesburg area. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Great spot to stop over and visit Hattisburg. Rest rooms and Showers are spotless. Friendly folks and quiet to be so close to the highway. I think most Mississippians sleep at night not drive around. We camped here in a Motorhome.

A nice CG with a woodsy feel. Staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Used them 3 times as a 1 night stop only. I was always put in their "1 night spaces" which are very close together. There were other sites that had more elbow room and they would be good for extended stays. I was impressed that there were no trashy RV's here. Like others stated, this park is quiet with the exception of occasional truck noise when they get stopped at the traffic light just outside the CG. No amenities like a pool, just a small CG with a state park feel. Will use again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Good stopover site. Very laidback. If you are late, they leave you a site ticket and an envelope to put money in. Good safe place to stop and sleep when passing through. Grassy sites with gravel loop road. We have stayed there to sleep 2 or 3 times and would again. Hattiesburg and stores closeby if you need supplies. We camped here in a Motorhome.
