IT IS CLOSED! Although there are no signs in Rosedale and no mention in the "Good Sam Big Book", the state park has been closed since 2010 floods. We found out only after we drove the RV over the levee and reached the padlocked gate. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Campground is poorly maintained and badly managed. Reservation instructions said check-in 4PM without specifying whether that was the earliest or latest time boundary. With the check-out time listed as 3PM, I had to assume it was the earliest. Arrived just before 5PM but the office was closed. Proceeded to campground where most areas were blocked off, but with only two other RVs here, there were still a dozen or more sites accessible. Most of the electric boxes were tied closed with ribbon. Virtually all of the few that weren't, were non-functioning, had exposed wires and broken/missing panels or outlets. Finally found two working boxes. One had only 15 amp and 50 amp outlets. I needed 30 amps so was forced to use a box that had 15 and 30 amp outlets, each fused by a 40 amp (!) breaker. Not at all safe and certainly not code. I would have moved on to another campground, but this is far from any alternatives and it was late. I considered dry camping but with temps in the mid-90s and no generator, I elected to chance the electric service to be able to run my A/C. The water service seemed OK, and there looked to be a dump station which I didn't try to use. I left as soon as I had rested up, and didn't look back. NOT recommended. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
The park is dated, but not that bad. So an 8 in season is not a stretch. However, this is not in a nice area. Rosedale is a sad place with boarded up store fronts, etc. I would not leave the RV unattended in the off season here. But we felt safe enough staying. That said, a family would probably enjoy themselves here very much in season as it is a nice state park. I do not think there are 50 amp sites, as mentioned the electric is dated, but worked fine. There is a dump station on the way out. The park is located between the levee and the Mississippi River. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very quiet rustic site. Only had 2-3 other campers all weekend. Staff was very friendly. As said in other reviews the electrical boxes have been fixed. About the only satellite friendly site is #42. We will stay here again. All sites have tables and BBQ pit some have fire pits for campfires. They do have a restaurant on the premises. No dump station was available. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Arrived just before dark. Ranger was at site requesting fee before I backed into site. He pointed out that the site had 50 amp power & water. He left as I settled in. I opened the electric box & it was a nightmare. Lots of corrosion & exposed wires. There was no power! Checked several other sites. All electric boxes were a mess & no power. Kind of ruined our experience & would recommend only to enemies. *** UPDATE *** Park manager contacted RV Park Reviews saying that all electrical problems have been repaired. *** We camped here in a Motorhome.
