New ownership is upgrading this RV park. It's spartan now and all sites are mostly level gravel sites. The new owner is a Starkville native that has returned home. He is adding more spaces and a dog walk area in the future. Several semi-permanent tenants, all we encountered were friendly and quiet. Some families with nice kids. We were here 2 weeks and in that time we were the only motorhome except for a 3 day period when a bus conversion pulled in. We were here because of family reasons. This is the best RV park in the Starkville area open to the public. Owner is VERY friendly, helpful, industrious, and has big plans. We'll be back. It's close to Mississippi State (right across from the MSU golf course) and 5 miles from the campus. Very accessible. Good luck to the new owner! We camped here in a Motorhome.
We made reservations for one month at this campground one week in advance for a specific site. When we pulled in to the campground our site was taken and there was no one on site to sort out the confusion. We ended up in a short term site and left the next day. The pictures on the web site don't match the condition of the campground. The rv sites need the weeds trimmed and the overall appearance is run down. The site that we had a reservation for is the only one that was large enough for a 33' fifth wheel. I would not recommend this campground. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
The Mississippi Horse Park is a development primarily for the purpose of horse and cattle events and sales. Don't expect a camp ground. This is our second year to use this facility for football weekends. This facility is open for MSU fans and visitors alike. The staff are very accommodating. There are two bathrooms with showers available in one of the barns. There is just enough room on each site for typical RVs with slides and canopy. When you park your rig, be sure it is perpendicular and centered to the straight line of electrical and water hook ups, or you will cause your neighbors difficulties. We are extremely grateful this facility is available and enjoy it very much. You can expect Alabama fans to play "Sweet Home Alabama" repeatedly till late in the evening every other year. There will also be cowbells ringing. Hey, it's game day. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Stayed here for a football game. This is the only place visiting RV's can stay. This place was hundreds of acres of gravel parking lots among rolling hills. Not very pretty. Not your typical RV park - in fact, it's a horse park with RV hook ups. I would stay here again, but only because there are no other options. Too far to walk to the stadium, but they do offer a shuttle that we didn't use. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
