Small place next to a storage facility. Located within city limits on US-287 (also US-12) near north end of town. A bit tight for our 36' wide body with two slides, but ok for a short stay. Once slide was out, two of three compartments could not be openned due to water / electric hookup location. Laundry and bath area was very clean, rest of park was so so. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Not the greatest place but quite popular with the fishing folks. Burger drive-thru on the site. Right on Hwy 12, 0.6 miles north of Junction with Hwy 287. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Rate reflects discount for Golden Age Pass. This is a US Bureau of Reclamation Area. Campground is about 5 miles north of Townsend on the banks of Canyon Ferry Lake. It is on Silo Road just beyond the KOA. Look for two large red brick silos that stand alone and turn toward the lake at the only major road in that area. Believe it is at milepost 70. Sign on road only states "camping." Campground is about a mile from main highway. No hookups, but you are rewarded with sitting right on lake edge and watch the huge white pelicans. Restrooms were very clean. Water is available from a central location. Sites have tables and fire rings. Very quiet. Great local museum in town. Lots of interesting things about Lewis and Clark who traveled through here before the Missouri River was dammed. We would stay again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Senior rate. Spent 6 nights here and loved it. This is the campground referred to in the KOA review. We were right on the lake in a nice large site. All sites first come, first served. But it never filled while we were here. Very quiet at night. No dump station, but the KOA was either $3 or $4 to dump there. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Wow! If I had known about the county campground about 1/4 of a mile further down the road I would not have stayed here. But, we already had our reservations for two nights so we paid the price. The KOA is real average. The electricity was OK we paid more for 50 amp. The staff was friendly. The site is crushed limestone. We would not stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
For the price, we were disappointed this park was not closer to the lake or directly on it. We could see down the road another campground right on the lake but didn't drive on to see it's name. We arrived after the office closed and paid the next morning. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This park was a major disappointment. The KOA directory and website note that the park has permanent boat moorage, which gives the impression the campground is right on the lake. In reality, the lake is at least 1/3 mile away. The campground is sited in a large, open grassy area, adjacent to an RV storage facility. The trees are immature cottonwoods that provide no shade. With 100 degree heat, the lack of shade was a real drawback. Drives and site pads are crushed rock that left a chalky residue on the trailer. Bathrooms are new and very clean, but they are kept locked. A $5.00 deposit is required for each key to the men's and women's room, and we were not informed of this when we checked in, and we had to walk back to the office to get restroom keys. The campground has wireless internet, but the signal is weak and available only near the office. The staff was quite friendly. We called ahead to make sure they had a site available, and they booked us in, but for the preceding day. Luckily, they had a site available when we arrived. As a result, they put us into a full service site, even though we did not require sewer. This was good as the dump station has a sign that indicates a $4.00 charge. There is no pool. On the plus side, the store is the best-stocked KOA store we have encountered. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
