We really enjoyed this campsite. The lots were huge, we really had a lot of space to spread out. There are lots of trees, the bathrooms were clean and had a lot of hot water. The roads were nice and wide. The park was quiet while we were there (2 weeks). The view was gorgeous, you are literally right on the water. I've had family ask me about this spot because it's close to home (Omaha, NE) and I've told them all they would love it. The only negative I had was that since it is a state park they have a strict 2 week limit and we had to move on. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Nice shady sites, with a great view of the river. Restroom/shower house very clean, they had a fresh pinesol smell to them every time I went into them. Campground hosts and other campers very friendly. New walking/bike trail being constructed from campground to Yankton. Trail was as far as Murdos when we were camping there. Fun trail to bike. Campground was pretty quiet while we were there. Close to Yankton, SD. Doesn't have the "park" look like Cottonwood, but nice campground none the less. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
COE camp, upgraded pads and electric, all site overlook river in Tailwaters below Gaven Dam right off Hwy 52 as you cross dam into NE. They honor Golden Eagle and about half the sites are reservable from Memorial thru Labor Day. Most sites are wooded and look NE. Convenient to Yankton, SD. Beautiful and clean setting below Lewis & Clark Visitor Center. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
