As the previous reviewer stated the Park itself is not a destination. The Park is older, yet has a small hardware store and a laundromat and a bottomless coffee pot in a 'Rec-room'. Hatch, (Chili Capitol of the World), is 20 miles South and Truth or Consequences is 20 miles North. Cabillo Lake is only a mile and a quarter away, Elephant Butte is 24 miles North. Quite a few folks stop here to prospect of gold and other minerals in the Cabillo Mountains. The owner's even have a claim that they allow guests to hunt upon. Is excellent Winter Quarters for some and year round for some others. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
New Mexico is filled with wonderful places to explore. This tiny park is central to Southern New Mexico and close to White Sands National Park, the Sacramento Mountains, Caballo Reservoir, Indian ruins, the new space port, Truth or Consequences and more. The park itself is definitely not a destination. The majority of the park is filled with long-term residents. A separate area in the front is for over nighters. The laundry room is spacious and clean. There are no restrooms or showers. Internet is strong, but local TV channels are non-existent. Each site has a covered ramada with picnic table. Don't come here for the amenities; come for the low rates and convenience to other state activities. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
