Difficult to rate. View of lake (if you are on the waterfront) is great. The seasonals were very friendly. Hard to find the entrance as you approach. If from the south the entry is just before you get to the corner where the Hoss store is. If you miss it, you will have to find place to turn around. Despite what RVParkReview says, they advertise wi-fi and a Verizon signal. If you were very lucky you might get a Verizon signal (AT&T works well, I was told). Wi-fi rarely worked. To try, you had to go to the hamburger stand at the entrance of the park. The place was swarming with flies and the smell of the grease fryer. And then wi-fi worked maybe 50% of the time. And if you were able to log in you had a very good chance of being kicked off. Road noise is very loud thanks to the trucks that passed by. BUT the area and people were great. Lots of scenery. Campground had a lot of trees (could affect your dish). Don't take me as a complainer, just trying to give some insight on this campground . Despite the problems above, we would stay here again. If you need reliable wi-fi, this is not the place. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We very much enjoyed our two-week stay at this campground in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains. It is a perfect launching point for hiking the many trails in the area. It is a small campground with limited facilities in terms of laundry, restrooms or showers. Your rig must be self-contained to stay here. This is a popular summer vacation area. Saranac Lake and Lake Placid or day trip away. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Rating is based on beauty, not on facilities. 1142 Main Street, Long Lake NY 12847 [508] 624-2481, 1-800-592-HOSS. RVs only; no tents. In our 12 years of full-timing, this is one of the most beautiful RV parks we have experienced. This part of Long Lake is very pretty, with forested islands. With fall foliage and a fantastic sunset it was enchanting. A rainbow the next day was a bonus. Fifteen lovely full hookup lakeside sites, $30 a day in late September. Fifty amp service available at some sites for $10 a day. Ouch! Gravel interior road, level grassy sites, mature trees, easy parking. Site separation adequate, about 15 feet. Picnic table and fire ring. Arcade, miniature golf. We did not ask, saw no showers or recycling. Although we saw no sign of bears, there is a bear warning and the dumpster is surrounded by electric fence. No Verizon signal, no broadcast TV signal, no cable, no pool, no speed bumps. Quiet at night; moderate street noise begins about 6 AM. Credit cards accepted. Restaurant, pub, cyber café, well stocked convenience store and gasoline ½ block away, grocery and hardware stores a few blocks away. The amazing Adirondack Museum [518] 352-7311 (an adventure for adults and for children) is about 10 miles away in Blue Mountain Lake, opens at 10 AM; allow a full day there. Great Sagamore Camp National Historic Site (Vanderbilt summer getaway) [315] 354-5311 is about 25 miles away near Raquette Lake; fascinating tours Saturday and Sunday at 1:30 PM in spring, 10:30 AM and 1:30 PM daily in the summer and then 1:30 PM daily until Columbus Day closing. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a beautiful NY State campground. No, it doesn't have all the hookups, etc., but it is a quiet, peaceful place with amply-sized sites that have sufficient distance between them to afford privacy. Canoeing, hiking and other outdoor activities are available both from the campground and in the immediate area. It's in the heart of the Adirondacks so the surroundings are just beautiful. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
