This campground is well maintained & pretty. You have to beg for $2.off a day for a week stay. If you don't beg for discount you don't receive. I thought all Good Sam parks gave one night free when you stay a week. Not here. Roads narrow even though site fit big rig. Wi-Fi did not work! Always out of range!? We were here with 25 other coaches for a rally. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed here five days. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Definitely pet friendly. The park is very convenient for sightseeing because it is so close to I-40. The down side is that there is traffic noise from the highway. The noise was not really bothersome, especially when the motorhome was closed up with heat or air running. There is a fairly steep entry into the park. Also, when backing into some sites you may notice it is somewhat steep. However, once situated on the site, you will see that it is level and paved. Each has a picnic table. Size of sites will vary. We camped in a 42 ft. motorhome and had plenty of room for the coach and could park a car in front. Restrooms are clean and the park is very well maintained. Free Wifi connection is very good. Sites are not especially spacious, but most have a good view. The nightly cost of $45 is more than we usually pay, but it seems to be comparable to others in the area - especially for big rigs. We will definitely come back to this campground. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We were in town while the leaves were changing so it was very crowded. We had a back in site, and it was very tight swinging the coach into the site. Our biggest issue with this campground was the road noise from the highways that are on at least two sides if not three of the campground. It was easy to get to because it was right off the freeway, and easy to get to the Biltmore, which is why we came in the first place. Most likely would not stay again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

View from half a dozen prime sites(P#s) is phenomenal. Other sites have limited or no view. AT&T reception is weak to non existent. Very peaceful. As others have mentioned, this park is at the top of a very steep, narrow dirt road about 1/2-3/4 mile long. If you meet another large RV coming in the opposite direction, it is almost impossible to pass on most of this road. If both are towing a toad, someone is going to have to unhook and back down the hill. If two big fifth wheels meet, good luck with that one. We camped here in a Motorhome.

A return to this campground/site for us. The view is incredible. A bit pricey but a homey place to stay. I don't like the fact that they charge you for the entire stay when you make the reservations months ahead! The sites are nice, and the showers/restrooms are private and ample. Be very careful if you have a big rig as the hill to get up to the campground is winding and steep. You need to leave before 12 and come up after 2:30 so as not to meet a fellow camper on the way in or out. All in all we like it here and will return next time we are in town. We camped here in a Motorhome.

What a gem! Campground is on top of mountain. Premium sites (numbered with 'P’) have positively gorgeous views of valley below. Even the non premium sites have good (though much more wooded) views. The entry road is steep and windy but very manageable - don't be discouraged by it. Staff is fantastic and the on site groundskeeper sets the gold standard for what other CG's should strive for. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

The paved camp site was FHU with Wi-Fi and cable TV. Access to it was really tight even with our 27 ft 5er. Big rigs beware. No turn around and the access road is really tight. The view of the French Broad River was worth it though. The back bumper of our 5er was at rivers edge. Restrooms very nasty. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

The campground is clean but some what ran down. On the positive side the place has the best river front view I ever had in an RV Park. Your rear bumper is hanging over the river bank. There are only 4 to 6 sites have sewage. The full hook-up sites have concrete pads. The pads are narrow. We have a 28th 5th wheel, it fit on the pad comfortable but tight. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Fantastic first come, first serve campground (after October 15). Beautifully treed and spacious spots are relatively level and paved, plus each site offers great fire ring area. Tremendous hiking and mountain biking opportunities in the park. Sites vary from no utilities to full hookups. There is no cell service; no AT&T, Verizon or Sprint voice or data service… We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed for 14 days. It is difficult to find anything bad about a National Forest. It is quiet with paved roads, 60ft trees surrounding our site, and about 30 yards to my closest neighbor. The volunteers and park hosts were all very friendly and helpful. They recommended places to eat and shop. The bathroom & shower facilities were immaculately clean. All roads were paved and sites were paved; however, all sites had a severe slope making it impossible to level even after we drove up onto 3" ramps. We stayed in one of the few full hook up sites (Site 56). Local conveniences are amazingly close for such a secluded area. Two large grocery stores about 3 miles away. Downtown Asheville about 15 miles away. A wonderful farmers market with fresh vegetables about 5 miles. Things you need to be aware of: 1- Not big rig friendly despite the fact that they do have sites that are long and wide enough. There are low hanging trees on the two mile drive up to the main gate and more low trees after you get into the park. Single lane, one way roads getting to your site. Backing in without brushing up against trees was very difficult. If you are looking for an overnight, this is not the place. However, once you are backed in and set up, it is beautiful. 2- Very poor cell phone coverage. Internet access off our Verizon hot spot was almost useless. 3- It is called "Lake" Powhatan but the lake is really just a large pond. 4- Gates are locked at 10:00 pm. Which wasn't a problem for us but just something to be aware of. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Two positive things to say - very nice owner and close to Parkway and downtown. However, loud - street noise and train - day and night - yes, there is a whistle. Park is very tight for large rig and lots of long-termers. We would not stay here again. Incidentally, the park is for sale. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We selected this park based on how close it was to The Cove (Billy Graham training Center). We also visited the Biltmore Estate. Very basic, no frills gravel sites and interior roads. Short road into park has many deep potholes so drive very slow. Grass at each site and most are separated by short wooden fence. Combination of pull through and back in sites with FHU. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

There appears to be about 12 riverfront sites and twelve non riverfront sites. When we visited the riverfront sites were full. So we camped in a non riverfront site. These all appear to severely slope down from back to front. Despite using jacks at maximum extension at the front, our RV was still sloping forward. Our water pressure was very low. Cable did not work on our site, and I noticed several sites did not even have cable hook ups. Lots of permanent campers, some of which are shabby and let this park down. Concrete slabs range from 30-48 feet. Which means that most 40+ rigs leave no room for parking a tow. Most people park across the front of their rig, half on the slab and half on the grass. It had been raining before we arrived, and noticed this practice makes deep muddy ruts in the grass here. If you are a light sleeper, this park is on the side of a major interstate, extremely noisy all night long. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Rate is Passport America. Do pay attention to posts about getting to the campground. You take exit 1-c off Interstate 240/26. At the bottom of the ramp is a sign that says turn here. Don't. Go 150 feet farther to the RV repair facility. That's the office. Then you have to swing across the road into a turn lane to get into the park. Once you're in, it's a nice place. On the bank, literally, of the French Broad River which was very clear when we were there. The owner was a neat fellow. We gave it a 9 instead of 10 because we don't know anything about park amenities. Nice concrete pads. Full hookup. Easy to back into from a very wide center area. Local (paved section) of the greenway goes through the middle of the park. It's close to the West Asheville Arts District and neat local restaurants about a mile or so east; the standard row of chain restaurants, about a mile or so west. Convenient spot to access the entire Asheville area and pleasant to return to. We camped here in a Motorhome.

First thing is getting into the park. As you exit the freeway you see the park below and to your right, there is a huge sign that reads: "Exit now, then turn right". The problem is, the turn is a 180 degree turn that no rig over about 25 foot long would be able to make. You need to go about another 100 feet ahead and pull into the RV Repair lot on your right. This is where the office is located. You may want to disconnect a tow vehicle here if you are over 35 feet long, because the turn to get back to the park is pretty tight. I suggested to the manager that they may want to change the directions in Passport America site, but he didn't seem to think there was a problem. Once you get into the park, you will find a very lovely setting. When I pulled through, I thought I was in a state park and the commercial park was down the road. Half the sites are on the riverside and the other half are against a hill with the freeway above. The sites are all concrete and all back-in with a triple-wide access road between them. Each site is wide with full grown trees between each site. It is full-hookup with 50 amp service, cable TV and internet connection. To get to the internet connection, you have to go to a browser, which brings up their site and then just click on the link shown and you are connected free-of-charge. The adjoining freeway is fairly level and about 50 feet above the campground at this point so the noise from the freeway is not that bad. We camped here in a Motorhome.
