Great staff. We stayed in 40' footer in site K 10, next to the playground and office. This is the area to stay if you have a large rig. The other areas of campground are tight for big rigs. Has a nice pool, store, and playground. Camped with my 4 year old daughter, she really liked the place. We camped here in a Motorhome.

I gave the owners some extra points for being friendly, for having clean restrooms, and great recycling. And, it really is a nice location. As a campsite, we had some real problems. The roads are steep and narrow with deep ruts. Pads are gravel and small, and when wet soft. We were here on a rally with big rigs that should never have been put into these small spaces. We had multiple people who had to be towed both in and out by tractor. Our rather large motor home was put on a grassy spot in a valley, which turned into mud. I was lucky to get out. I won't be back here, even if the weather is dry. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Beautiful setting in the mountains and friendly front office staff, but beware if you have a larger unit. The roads between rows of sites are very narrow and rutted. If you have a motorhome, it's going to get a good twisting as it navigates these paths. We are 37' long and it was difficult and uncomfortable getting in and out. Wi-Fi is available only at the front office. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Pleasant park with nice shade at many sites. We camped with a babbling brook immediately under our rear window. Rest rooms / showers are simple but adequate. Staff was pleasant. Wi-Fi was very good at our site 11 spaces from the office. With one antenna for whole camp, signal strength may be weak at some more distant sites. Entrance is at the bottom of a long hill when heading west on Rt. 105 (3.5 mi from center of Boone). One must be prepared to signal a turn well before entry to avoid rear ending. Turns out of campground to the right are ill advised for big rigs with when towing a trailer, tight turn. Excellent for visiting nearby attractions on the Blue Ridge Parkway, e.g., Linville / Linville Falls, Lin Cove Viaduct. Also strategically located near Boone, Banner Elk, Valle Crucis. As adults, we'd stay here again, little at camp for kids to do. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Sites are level. General condition of the camp is below average. Manager was extremely helpful and willing to accommodate us however she could. Campground had a number of seasonal sites, most were packed up for the winter. This campground is acceptable for a one night stay if you get in a pinch. Having said that, we would not return. CAUTION:if you stay here, do not attempt to enter from the south if you are in a big rig. The sign is hard to spot so follow the directions exactly as provided by the campground website. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We chose this campground due to it closeness to ASU. We stayed in cabin #9 with 2 adults, 2 teens and a medium-sized dog. The staff was helpful and polite. The game room was so-so, video games fairly outdated, pool table was ok but all of the sticks needed recapped. The store had a very limited number of items. The bath house was standard campground fare, a bit run down but fairly clean. The showers were hot! It was well supplied with hand soap and paper towels/toilet paper. Our cabin exceeded our expectations. I have been to campgrounds where their "camping cabins" are little more than sheds with beds. Our cabin was very roomy and had a double (bit of a saggy mattress) and a set of bunks. The small night stand, table and bookshelf all came in handy for storing our stuff. No linens and the mattresses and pillows all were covered in plastic. No heat so bring a good sleeping bag in colder weather. There was a ceiling fan and plenty of windows so the airflow was good. The porch was a nice bonus that came in handy since it rained all weekend. The parking was awkward, you park in the yard and then the neighbor's fire will get soot and ash all over your vehicle because their fire ring is entirely too close. There is a limited amount of "extra" spaces by the office, which is where we put our truck. The road noise on the cabin side of the campground was minimal, but fairly loud everywhere else We will definitely stay here again, but more of a "base" from which to enjoy all the area has to offer, rather than a "destination" in itself. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Very large sites. Nice spot across drive from river. Water level was low, but kids enjoyed exploring rocks and ankle wading. B section had very large campsites. Had activities on weekend (tie dye, hayrides, singers). Staff friendly. Although doesn't have a "barking lot" they do have several grassy areas for the dogs to sniff. Only issue we had was with the bathrooms. One near our campsite was very small and had a lot of spiders. One up the trail had private bath/shower area but severe wood rot on floors. One unit had hole in floor and felt like you would fall through. Baths were clean but overall rundown. We plan on returning here. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

Camp was full over weekend (leaf-peeping season). We liked our campsite, but we had some difficulty locating the site because the markers are so faded. We were also in a big rig and although we managed, it was a tight squeeze in and out of the site. Note: The hookups are at the opposite end of the motorhome hookups. Our site was A50. Once we were in & leveled (used boards under wheels), it was a nice large space. The view of the mountains was beautiful, and close to Boone, Grandfather Mtn. Park, and Blowing Rock. I would do it again, but would be very specific about my site. There are only a few level sites to accommodate larger RVs. Be careful departing your site if you are in a big rig because the back end of the RV could possibly catch the electric/water posts as you swing out. We camped here in a Motorhome.

I've camped here twice in a tent. What I love about this campground is the spectacular scenery and the campground's location. I camped at B26 for a week in August of 2008 and at T70 for a week in August of 2009. There is an upper and a lower creek, both of which are nice. The bathhouse near B26 needs to be renovated. The bathhouse near T70 is nicer but could also use some renovating. There is a large empty field where it would be nice to have some playground equipment. The campground itself is bare, but like I said, the location and scenery are worth the stay. We camped here in a Tent.

The sites were very small, very narrow and needed some gravel on them. They have a first-class game room, a separate great lounge behind the office. But they really need to spend some money on the sites. One really unusual thing we encountered here was that every power box we saw had a sticker on it saying that it was unsafe for us to use our water heater on shore power. It suggested we use gas to be safe. Curious. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

I would give this campground an "A" for effort, but nonetheless a few things are lacking. The sites are pretty cramped and not too private, and most are on hilly roads that make getting in and out a challenge. We had a great, fairly private site on the stream (D3), but had to back up a long way down a hill to get into it. The bathrooms are old and worn looking, but they were clean. Weirdly, though, you have to walk across a large field of grass to get to the bathhouse. It was rainy when we were there, making me think that a gravel walkway would be nice instead of walking through wet grass. The Wi-Fi didn't work at all at our site, even though we were relatively near the campground office. All that said, the management were about as nice and friendly and helpful as we've ever encountered. They have provided all sorts of fun stuff for the kids, including swings and a game room and a big screen TV in a playroom near the office. They also lend out books and DVDs, and were very knowledgeable about what to do in the area while we were there. The campground is also very well located near Boone. One final note, there are some beautiful sites just for tents. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

There are not-so-good, good and great things about this CG. Not-so-good: if you are using anything larger than a 19' trailer, I honestly have no idea how the big rigs got in here- VERY windy road coming up to the CG (not their fault though!), but the sites are tight for even our trailer. We had a pull-thru, but we couldn't pull all the way through, we had to pull in, and back out at the end of our stay. We had to pull between a tree and a boulder. Site was covered in mulch-ish substance, which got all on the inside of the trailer, but it was livable. Bad part was possibly just our site, but when we pulled in, the trailer door faced the road. The electric/water was on the opposite side which was fine, however the picnic table was on the road side and the campfire pit was on the backside. It would have been nice to have the table and pit on the same side, but there was no room- definitely a tight space with a trailer. Good: staff was friendly at check in, and campground was rather quiet. Great: Wooded, secluded, and serene at night. Piece of advice, check for ticks (also not their fault). All sites where we were (up on a hill), was completely covered in trees, so we found 3 ticks on us at the end of one night by the fire. Definitely would return again! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
