Although the allure of it being in the mountains sounds intriguing, you really can't see much. You will know that you're 4000’ up though because the 4 mile drive up the mountain from the main road is tight, but certainly doable and obviously all up hill. The office staff was extremely nice, but the sites not so much. They tried to put us in a narrow, heavily treed site for which the turn was not really possible without maneuvering. They were able to move us to an open site which was much better but was just a gravel narrow path cut out of the grass. Picnic table, but no fire ring. To get in and out of town is a trip. The Boone Golf Club is nearby and a very good course. Wi-Fi was OK. AT&T phone service on the weak side. Nice playground, donkeys, goats and chickens that children would enjoy. I think we'd look for alternatives if returning to Boone. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Where should we start? Let's start with the plus'. The staff were great. Very friendly and inviting. The location was beautiful. Rolling hills and views of some mountains. They had some activities for the kids and our daughter enjoyed the scavenger hunt, craft time, and the apple cider social. Now to the negatives. Sites are small. The road (H area) we were on was bad. There were ruts where it apparently rained hard and then getting into the sites there were rough. Our site was not level either way you looked at it. With our slides out, we were at the edge of the campsite behind us. If someone were camping there, they wouldn't of been able to have a campfire as it was literally only 2' away. If we had a slide on the front side of ours, we wouldn't be able to have a fire ourselves. Trying to get out was bad because due to the ruts and elevation changes of the road and sites, we almost dragged our stabilizers. That with a tree, it was almost tragic. But we worked it out. There did appear to be some better sites on the other rows. My recommendation is to leave your camper at the check in place and walk over to where they want you to park and check it out first. I wish we had done this ourselves. But all in all, it was a great visit. We will definitely return and hope to get a better site. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is a nice campground, with friendly workers, good hookups, clean shower room, a store, large rec room, and laundry facilities. It is away from the noise of highways, trains, and aircraft (It is quiet at night). Like all middle priced commercial campgrounds, sights are close together. For tenting, they even have a sheltered picnic tables for a number of sights. Two dog walking areas, besides the campground roads. We highly recommend this campground for anyone who wants to camp in the beautiful NC mountains. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Very clean little park, but very tight. Our site backed up to the stream, and with our awing out we were almost touching our neighbor. Their sewer connection was 5 feet from our picnic table. Nice area to walk the dogs around in, and the folks their for the whole summer were very friendly! We just did not like the tight sites. Also coming east off Grand Father mountain we could not make left hand turn into park. We had to go up the road and make u-turn and come back down to campground. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We returned because the campground is pleasant with lots of mature trees and some attractive, stream-side sites. We had to split between sites to get a full week, a reflection of the camp's popularity - some come here for the whole summer. We enjoyed getting together with relatives and were fairly well accommodated, given the holiday limited site availability. There are a surprising number of cultural activities in Boone, a university town, and nearby Banner Elk, an upscale community. Emphasis is on country music, but there's summer theater at Lees-Mcrae College. However, I down graded to a 7 because: dryer out of order for weeks. Wi-Fi throughout is poor to none in evening and some times in non-peak / daytime hours. Water pressure is low - small pipes just don't get the flow to more distant sites. But, yes, we would return. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed 4 nights and love the place, management is super nice and very helpful. We were in site 70 right at the office so Wi-Fi was great. Nothing real fancy here but it is very clean and quite. We will be back soon. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Very nice setting. We were there early in the season and it was private. Pretty fishing pond that was catch and release. Grounds were nicely landscaped. Many sites were carved out of the hillsides and there was still work to do. The owner was very nice and welcomed us and provided a lot of local information. Bathrooms/showers were very nice and clean, too. The cons were roads in the park were in bad shape-rutted and steep in areas. Hook ups located in rear of site, not fifth wheel friendly. This was the rule not the exception. Water pressure was really bad at the site, fine at the bath house. Dog area there, but you could not get into it. Luckily, there were manor places to walk and we were well equipped with doggie bags. Not the worst place that we encountered. We will return. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Loved this campground but had a couple of gripes. The bad: we were a day late arriving because we had RV problems and they would not credit us for the lost deposit - this was just ridiculous. So we paid for 3 days instead of the 2 we were there. Also, they are in the process of upgrading some of their facilities. Ffor example, the laundry has 2 ancient washers and one was broken. BUT here are the good things: the park has a lot of charm. There are lots of bushes and trees and the multilevel layout gives each site a private feeling. The nice stream has several hand-made wooden bridges crossing it lined with LED lights. There is a fishing pond. Good areas for dog walking or for kids to run around. Hook-ups are so-so. Water pressure was really poor. This area has a lot to offer and there are many hikes and activities close by. I would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Stayed here for 3 different weekends in July. Looked at all the choices in Boone area for campgrounds and this was by far the best choice. The road from Hwy 105 to campground can be a little tricky - but easily done. They have a main lodge area, game room, nice pond, and plenty of room to let our dogs run - open field near front! The new owners are fantastic. Changes being made already and they are doing it right. Excellent customer service. Our electric box had weak breaker when we hooked up 9 PM, and they sent someone right out to replace it. Across the street, they forgot the cable hookup and they brought them one right away. Ice and firewood delivered to your campsite. Saturday night movies on big screen in the main field and campfire for families - had 75 plus at the movie this weekend. Some sites are tricky to get into and some are uneven, but again they are making the investment to keep this our favorite spot in the Boone area! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
