The place appears to be more like an industrial site with some kind of sludge filtering machine running, front end loaders etc. Spots are difficult to park in due to hills and sharp angles. Everything is gravel and there is nothing to do. Most of the campers are permanent and very few spots are available. Not what I would call a 'family campground'. The employees are helpful and friendly. I think it's intended more for gold hunters than it is for camping. There are other things to do in the area so I'm told. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We were here to do genealogy stuff in Albemarle. It is very convenient to there. The campground owners/staff were very friendly and helpful. The sites are fairly level with only 2 sites for larger coaches. Several long term people here and all were friendly. All roads and sites are gravel. We took the time to do some panning for gold and found some flakes. We did not use the shower or restrooms. The laundry was out of order while we were there. We stayed 6 nights and will definitely be back. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a working gold mine that has a small campground on the property. We didn't take advantage of any of the gold mining activities, but it looked like fun. We needed a place to stay that was convenient to Albemarle and Concord, and we didn't want to stay at the parking-lot-they-call-campground at the speedway. The campsites are all shaded and relatively level with new gravel. The power, water, sewer, and Wi-Fi all worked and the staff was friendly. There is no cable TV (or even a broadcast TV signal), but our cell phone service worked, which was a nice surprise. The bathrooms and showers can only accommodate one person at a time, and they charge $2 for use of the shower. There is one washer and dryer which is also pay-type. At $25, this campground is a good value, if you have a reason to be this far off the beaten path. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Old time type of campground with friendly people and they are really cleanng it up. We panned for gold and even found some. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
