I wasn't sure what to expect as the campground's web site doesn't have a lot of pictures, but we were booking at the last minute and most of the other Loudonville parks were full. Then we arrived and had to travel back a rural road to reach the campground - I was getting pretty skeptical. We were pleasantly surprised! This campground is really nice. It is full of mature trees so it's nice and shady and very pretty. The bathrooms were basic but in good condition, very clean, and the showers had nice, hot water with stalls big enough for changing clothes privately. The campground was pretty quiet when we visited which was also nice. We'll definitely go back to Camp Toodik. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
This park was a disappointment. The website and color brochure are very detailed, so I was expecting more from the campground. The road in between the campground and the fun center across the road is very busy. There were trucks and other traffic on the road all night long, which made for some loud evenings around the campfire. The bathrooms and showers were usually messy and the indoor pool was on the small side and dirty the whole week we were there. The chemicals are also so strong that it burns your eyes. We chose to use the community pool in town which has a snack bar and diving boards. It is a very nice pool. Our site (#60) was not a nice one. We were at the end of a pull through road and had a big electrical box on our site. It was also very narrow and the firepit was right on top of our patio area. We were able to move the firepit, but then it was right on the road. The roads in the front are paved, but pretty rough. Our pad was made of large gravel which was not comfortable under our patio rug. There is no firewood delivery or garbage pick up. On the plus side...we enjoyed the river trip we took across the road. The kids also liked the mini-golf. Mohican State Park was beautiful and we spent a whole afternoon exploring it. The workcampers at the campground were very nice. All in all, it is a very pretty part of the state and we would go back again, but I would check into other campground first. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We camped at Mohican Adventures in October 2007. It was our only camping trip that year, due to purchasing our camper very late in the season. Mohican Adventures was the perfect choice because they have an indoor pool with a hot tub. So when the cool evening air hit, we went inside for a swim with the kids. The pool building was very nicely kept with showers and restrooms. There were quite a few paved roads throughout the front section that we camped in, which was ideal for our kids riding their bikes, since they are younger and can't pedal through gravel. The campsite itself was very small and had no shade trees what-so-ever, but we didn't need shade in October. I have been told that the campsites in the newer portion of the campground (in the back) have larger campsites and more shade trees. There were a couple of fishing ponds that were nice to look at, but after several attempts, we gave up due to none of us being able to catch anything at all. The people working there were very nice. They were constantly out cleaning up loose trash and making things nice. They also checked a couple of times to see if we needed anything and to ask if we stayed warm that night before (got down into the 40's). Very nice people. They also ooh'ed and ahh'ed over our kids, which any parent loves. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is a very nice campground; the office and camper hosts were some of the nicest...facilities very nice..only reason for 8 rating is the rv sites in my opinion were to close together...your picnic table was on top of the next rv's sewer dump. Easy access off route 3. Would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
If you're planning a trip to Mohican, this is a great place to stay. The staff was very helpful in getting us set up. They were pretty good about enforcing the rules (camp fires and quiet time). The CG's close proximity to one of the many canoe liveries, putt-putt golf and go-karts was great in that we didn't have to pack the whole family up in the car and drive to all those things. The indoor swimming pool and clean/modern shower facility was wonderful. There was plenty for the kids to do and the heavily wooded hiking trails are great if that's your thing. We liked this CG so much we have another trip scheduled there this summer. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
The employees were very helpful and friendly, but we were told one unit and one tent per site. We observed several tents sharing one site, and parking was at a premium. The sites are not very big, and barely accomodate one unit let alone several. We can't imagine how hectic it would be on a holiday weekend if they don't control the use of sites. Full hookups were nice, however the sewer pipes need to be "flush" with the ground. This caused some issues when dumping tanks. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We camped here for three days and two nights and had an enjoyable time. There were plenty of staff who was very helpful and courteous. I am confined to a wheelchair and this campground is truly handicapped acessible with plenty of room in the restroom. They have individual showers with hadicapped ones so my wife could help me. A great place to camp and am looking forward on returning. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We have stayed here twice in the past 2 years and have not been let down yet. The staff is very friendly and even loaned us a longer hose to reach our water hookup. I would suggest having longer than 25 feet of hose as some of the water hookups are a good 35 feet from the site. They have very nice restrooms and wonderful showers though I did not use them much. The indoor pool and hot tub are excellent and they also have a conference center that can be rented out. Across the street is a Canoe livery and go karts as well as putt putt. Very nice campground, and we will be back again next year! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We stayed at this campground and had a blast! They had a very new bathhouse (best I ever seen) that also housed their indoor swimming pool and hot tube. They had a large pond that was great for fishing. We caught one bass after another fishing with night crawlers on the bottom. Across the street was canoeing and mini golf. They also have horseback riding nearby. I would give this campground a perfect rating if they had some trees for shade and the children’s playground was updated. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
This campground was very clean and neat. We had plenty of room for our Class C and our two dogs and children. The staff was very friendly. They are affiliated with Mohican Livery and Fun Center, so we also canoed with them. There is a pizza place and a laundry that is right next to the campground. The Fun Center has a clean, well-maintained miniature golf course and go-kart track. The indoor pool and spa are almost new and both were very clean as were the restrooms and showers. We were also impressed by the cleanliness of the tent sites. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Tent camped with a travel trailer. Plenty of room width ways. 32' TT was pushing it lenght ways. Not very deep. The road aroung the full hook ups was a mess. Big sunken holes. Tent and popup area was the nicest I've seen. I don't know if they had water and electric in that area. We did not stay there. Two ponds to fish in. Swimming pond. Clean restrooms. Also run miniture golf and canoeing. We camped here in a Tent.
Very well run and maintained campground. We really enjoyed the 1 night that we stayed in the park. I will definitely stay in this park again. If they would have had a pool I would have given them a 10. They beach and swimming area was nice. Very quiet at night and a lot of big rigs. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Very nice area, have been here several times and have never had a problem. Great for motorhomes as well as tent camping! We camped here in a Motorhome.
One of the nicest places that we stay. It has become our Labor Day Weekend favorite. The sites are spacious and well kept up. We camped here in a Motorhome.
What a beautiful campground this is! We stayed from Wednesday to Saturday and there were very few other campers here but by Friday night the place was packed. We were pleased with our site (number 27). It was a pull through with the immaculate restroom/shower house on one side and a neighboring spot on the other. There is so much space between campsites that you never feel squeezed in. The restrooms and showers were very clean with the most interesting floor made of tiny river pebbles. It only cost $1.00 each to wash and dry clothes. The pool was very clean as was the entire campground. We found it centrally located to many activities. We travel with my mother who has cancer and is in a wheel chair and the camp staff were very helpful in suggesting appropriate activities for accessibility. My husband and kids went kayaking while mother and I went to Malabar Farm. This is an interesting stop full of history where Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall were married. This campground is the nicest we have seen in the Ohio Parks network and they accept the Golden Buckeye Card for up to 50% off campsite rates depending on the day of the week. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Wonderful state park. Campgrounds right along the river. Extremely scenic. A great place to camp in a tent 'old school' style. We camped here in a Tent.
This was our 10th trip to this campground and have never been disappointed. We stayed 5 nights this time along the river in site 85 which I think is my favorite in the whole park. This was our first summer time trip and we could use the pool and it was very pleasant. The campground staff is the best anywhere and goes beyond helpful by being so friendly. We love the camp store and the huge ice cream cones they give you. This is probably the prettiest campground you will ever see, spring, summer and especially in the fall. Very close by is the little town of Loudonville which is nice if you need something. A short trip to Malabat Farms and Mt. Jeez is worth the trip to see the valley especially at sunset. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is a great family campground, with plenty to do for everyone. There is a stream/small river that flows through the park that is a blast to float down in a tube {which are available at the camp store for $13}. There is also an inground pool. The place was very clean, and the staff were friendly. I can't wait to go back again. The park fills up fast, and reservations should be made well in advance during the summer months. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Beautiful area. Hard to follow the signs if coming from the south. We had plenty of grass area in our site. Nice swimming pool. Only have 33 full hook up sites. Only problem was the shower house nearest our site didn't have hot water for the weekend. Nice camp store if you need something. No mosquitos, but the flies were bad. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
It's hard to beat any of the state park campgrounds in Ohio! This one is mainly shaded, fairly private sites, with mountain trails for hiking. The kids loved the playground, and the pool looked large (unfortunately closed during our stay). We also stayed at the park's lodge a few months later for skiing - it was great, too! We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
We loved this park; the site we had was right on the river and it was beautiful; plenty of
room and pretty well level; it was very typical of state park setup...The bath houses and restrooms were in clean shape and the sites were well maintained. The park is huge; has a covered bridge and trails to hike and ride on. The staff was friendly and helpful. Loudonville is close to Amish country and a very nice town also... We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This campground is in the Ohio State Parks Network. This park is in a beautiful area of
the state with small mountain ranges, a beautiful river that offers a lot of recreational opportunities (especially canoeing), there is large lake nearby, a state forest, gorge overlook, hiking trails, etc. We have made three trips and have not done everyting there is to do. There is a very nice camp store and game room, they sell ice cream cones and very good supply of necessary and often forgotten items. Swimming pool, basketball, playgrounds, excellent bathrooms and showerhouses (no waiting yet). The park offers 33 full hookup sites which are very large, some with pull throughs and the rest of the sites offer electric only and not as spacious although not cramped by any means. There is a road across the river which is not busy but you do hear a little bit of traffic. The full hookup sites are not along the river so it makes it a tough choice between convenience and seeing the beautiful river whenever you want to. The nearby town of Loudonville is very charming and relaxing to visit as well. We camped here three times in 2003. In April, May and October and each trip was better than the last. Definite return trips planned. The Ohio State Park system also accepts reservations now up to 5 months in advance which is very helpful since this park can be very difficult to get into. There are also cabins for rent. I would give it an "11" if I could. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
The grounds of the campground were very nice but only a small portion of it was for the
campers. The tent area was very poorly cared for and on very uneven ground. The water and electric sites were too close together. The bathrooms and showers were in very poor condition and not very clean. The playground was nice but the gameroom had only a couple of games that worked. The swimming pond had only a very small area for the children to swim. All in all a very disappointing experience. We camped here in a Tent.
This was the worst campground I ever stayed at. I truly disliked it and was never so happy
to go home. I am giving it a "2" only because it is a functional campground. It is in an area where a campground is a gold mine. There is so much demand that you really don't have to do anything to be successful because people will come regardless. This is obviously the formula the campground owner uses here. Again, while it is functional, I cannot mention one nice thing about this campground. Nothing is updated, new or nice. Anything that has been done has been done in the cheapest, least attractive way possible. For example, the water and electric at my site where strung on a telephone pole that was leaning at about a 20 degree angle which eliminated about 1/4 of my campsite. There is no pavement in the park and hardly any rock or gravel so the dust is terrible. No rules are enforced (i.e. speed limit) and people are allowed to do anything they want (i.e. remote control cars whining all evening) without regard for anyone else. The bathrooms have no sinks to wash hands and there are only 3 showers for men and 3 for women in the entire park. If I hadn't been staying with a group I would have been gone immediately. It would have been torture to be there alone. The staff was very cold about service except for one lady who sold me some firewood one night. Everything in the camp store is kept under lock and key. Wonder why? This park is in one of the prettiest areas of the state, but if the area could be ugly, it would be River Run. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
A great family park. The sites on the river are fantastic. The kids loved the playground and pool. The best part is being on the river and being able to see the people just float by you. The store was great for the kids and it also faces the river. I can not say enough about the owners and the staff they were very helpful and friendly. The only down side is the Pit toilets, but they were clean and freshly painted. Did not use the shower house while there, but it looked decent. We will be going back. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
I would rate this CG much higher if it had nice restrooms. Most of the restrooms were pit toilets. Some shade. Sites are grass and fairly level. Canoeing the river is the big thing here and they will pick you up at the CG and you row down the river back to the CG and just leave the canoe there. Very easy and a nice way to spend an afternoon. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They pick up trash all day everyday, which is nice. It would also be nice if it had another dump station. (just a suggestion) My only real complaint were the restrooms. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Wonderful place to sit and relax. Employees very friendly and helpful. Trash is picked up at your site hourly. I would give them an excellent rating if they had a better dump station. Just one station, and it can be a long wait at check out time. We will definitly go back. Great people. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Beautiful location south of Loudonville, OH on the Mohican River. Big rigs OK on many sites. Water hookups are shared on many sites. Dump station avail. Youth activities on premises. Canoe rentals on property. Look for the bald eagle
along the river!! Nice quiet location. We will return. We camped here in a Motorhome.
