This campground I recommend the owners are very nice and are always willing to help out. The campground is kept very nice you can tell they work very hard to make it a very nice place. Restrooms and showers are always clean. A lot of activities are available and fun. Very wooded area makes camping nice and a very nice pool. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

My whole family stayed at this park and it was the best time we have had in a long time. We will be returning. The owners are too nice. Has a Dee Jay by the pool; a train ride for the kids; a game room and huge pool. The best campground in Warren county. Located close to the beach, Kings Island, Wal-Mart, Krogers, gas stations and a state park. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

Interesting campground, very tight. Great pool. Very secluded location. Even has a petting zoo! Lots of campers crammed into a little space. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Cowan Lake Campground is average for an Ohio State Park. We stayed the second weekend of April, only the showerhouse and restrooms were open. Both were clean (other than cobwebs in the windows) and in working order. The non-pet section is nicer, though a large majority of those sites are not level. Bring an outdoor rug if staying in the pet section. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We had a large shady site. We stayed during the week and there were very few campers there and it was quiet and peaceful. The restroom and shower house were disappointing. The restroom had a strong smell of cat urine. The cleaning routine seemed to consist of emptying the trash and replenishing the toilet paper. There were tons of spiders, bugs and spider webs. The shower house had a strong odor of cigarette smoke. Again, lots of spider webs and bugs. It didn't look to have been cleaned thoroughly recently. The campground had its own beach which was nice. The lake had some seaweed in it and the water was green, which might have been because of the 90 degree weather. The personnel were friendly and helpful. The store had a restaurant which offered reasonably priced fast food. Because of the restrooms and shower house, we would not stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed at Cowan Lake State Park with our little dog the first weekend in June. We had heard good things about the park. We camped in the pet area of the campground, and were not impressed at all. It is very wooded, so there was basically no grass on our site. It was nice and shady, but also nice and muddy. It looked to us like almost every site in the pet designated area was about the same. The restroom was the dirtiest I've seen in the state parks we've visited. We were here for 3 days, and it was not cleaned once during that time. There was a strong urine smell which was not at all pleasant. What really upset me, though, was driving through the non pet area, and seeing just how beautiful it was. I felt like I had entered a different park. Beautiful mowed grass, lots of huge shade trees, spacious campsites, and no mud. I felt like we were discriminated against because we have a dog. We have not encountered this at any other state park. I doubt if we will go back, and I know we won't go with our dog. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

Pool and hot tub not in service while we were here (opening week for the season). Three fishing lakes. Fair Verizon data & voice. Fair air TV. Level gravel sites. No cost to Thousand Trails members. About $40 for non members. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Better maintained than most Thousand Trails parks, but still needs lots of work. For instance, the doors at the indoor pool are always kept open because the handle latches don't work. What a concept, how about fixing the latches? So as a result, the indoor pool area was always full of flies and other insects, and the pool was dirty as a result. Campsites are generally very large, though not all are full hookup so you have to look around for one of those. Staff is very helpful. Grounds are mowed on a regular schedule (unlike some other Thousand Trails CGs) and there are nice flowering plants around the park. Convenient to Dayton, lots to do there. Near Caesar Creek SP also. Would definitely stay here again, the pros outweigh the cons. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Beautiful park. Very well maintained. Loved our stay. The only drawback is most of the best sites are taken by long term lease. Didn't use to be that way. Not a fan of that. But, enough sites available that we got a nice one. We camped here in a Motorhome.
