This park is a little jewel hidden in southeastern Oklahoma. One section of the park is reserved for equestrian camping, one section for RV camping, and the third section for tent camping. Beautiful tall pine trees throughout the camp. Boats are limited to 7.5 horsepower, providing for a tranquil setting while hiking the many trails near the lake. Longer trails (for hikers, backpackers and equestrians) begin at the park and climb Winding Stair Mountain (elevation 2,451') which is directly south of the park. Deer and other wildlife, including black bear, are often seen in the area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Very nice caretaker on-site and they have safe pens for your horses to stay in as well. The park had many trees for you to stay cool under and the concrete parking pads were great for leveling out. We even enjoyed a nice rain shower while we were here and had a relaxing camp fire in the fire ring. I would recommend to you even if you don't have horses. It is fun to see them ride by while you cook your meals and enjoy some rest in the mountains. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
