My family loves this campground and we return to it often since it is close to our home of Windsor, Ontario. We visited 3 times this summer and will continue to frequent it next year, I'm sure. The main washroom facility is usually very clean and well kept. There are often lines on the weekend to use the showers but the water is hot and the showers/ toilets are well maintained. The pools, including water slide, are always a hit with the children. The lifeguards are friendly and do a good job of controlling the area. The addition of the dog park was a nice surprise this year and we appreciated having it available. We also liked the added security that was driving through the park during the night. We also love the proximity of this campground to Point Pelee and Leamington for day trips and visits to the beach/ waterfront. My only criticisms/ suggestions involve the main park next to the bathroom- this area needs some TLC and new equipment. We were also disappointed that there was a fence extended to the waterfront this year that blocks walking/ bikes from passing through to the bathrooms from the main part of the campground. This was a very well-used path and it was missed. We also had some concerns with the hydro hook-ups along our street. They needed some attention and when we had a problem, we were instructed to just "use another plug". We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
An update for 2012: nice park, primarily a seasonal situation, an easy bike ride to Leamington and Pelee Is ferry. Friendly staff and residents. Sewer pipe was broken but useable at our site. Two unheated pools weren't open in mid-June, nor was the rec hall. The heated indoor pool is a 3-ft deep kiddie thing within the closed rec hall. Couldn't find showers or a bathroom unlocked during our stay. All this should be corrected in July. If you park near the rec hall the Wi-Fi is free but very weak and slow. A stronger Wi-Fi is available at a price, but we didn't try it. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Stayed here during PT Pelee birding weeks because it was closest to park. It is mostly a seasonal park with pull thru sites WITHOUT SEWER. Had to take a back in site to get sewer. Sites are tightly packed in, ours was soggy with surface water, could not access free internet from site, only in front of closed rec centre, no cable, staff was not friendly or helpful. Only 1 restroom / shower building for entire campground in off season, long walk to it. Location was best thing going for this campground. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Large campground very convenient to Point Pelee National Park. Mix of about 70% seasonal and 30% transient. Wi-Fi was adequate but very expensive, even for the weekly rate. We might stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
